Lavalon Seaview Hostel & Cafe

The guest house has seen better days but the room I stayed during 7 days on & off was perfect and good value : small room with double bed, proper bedsheets, comfy mattress, small basin and small shower attached, brand new a/c, very good wifi, perfectly quiet, clean, window right on the shore. The owner helps you with good advices. Banana pancake as breakfast. Lots of books exchange. Alfamart round the corner. Close to the center. Motorbike rental not far. It's not on Booking, send him a w/app : this guest house was a favorite address by Lonely Planet.

Lavalon is the best place to stay in Kupang! Edwin is a great host who cooks really nice breakfasts. The vibe is very casual and comfortable. The sheets are cotton which is a huge plus for me and the room was clean. It is very simple so don't expect a lot, but it is comfortable, near to a nice little beach with a few food stands around the area, and a great night market to eat dinner at is within walking distance. The window in the room opens up for a beautiful view of the ocean. It is easy to rent scooters here as well as find a tour guide and book tours to the villages. Highly recommend this little spot by the ocean!

The Lavalon is a great place to spend the night, as well as the day. There is one room with sea view, and at least one more without, which is a bit cheaper but also very clean and comfortable. I didn't mind not having the big window as you can sit outside all day and all night long to enjoy the view. Edwin, the owner, is a wonderful person. He is very kind with a super interesting past, and he knows everything about Indonesia because he decided to travel his own country before opening the hostel so that he can give advice. Just text him, and he'll get you booked, and will also arrange for any pickup you might need with his driver Jack who may seem a bit grumpy on first sight but he's also very nice and is the safest and most careful driver ever. Thank you Edwin for the time we spend together, all your stories, and advice!

I was travelling solo and my stay at Lavalon was truly 5-star. Edwin is a warm and thoughtful host — he helped me from the moment I booked until I left, including arranging a ride to the port and making sure I had everything I needed. The breakfast pancake was delicious, the room was comfortable, and he gave me great tips about travelling in Indonesia. I highly recommend staying here!

I was in kupang only as transit, but ended up staying one more night and now i always transit im Kupang and stay at Lavalon! Such good price quality!! It feels amazing to wake up with the sound of the waves and a delicious pankake made by Edwin! Edwin is super nice, a great host and amazing cook - loved the squid and the fish, moringa soup, the heart of banana and the omelettes! He knows all the best deals and gives great advice on things to do in indonesia, he even helps booking for us! The room is cozy and clean with hot shower. I never had to turn on the air con, the fan is perfectly enough and you can feel the breeze from the sea.|Hope to come back more times for a calm stay with a nice beer and conversation! Great, budget-friendly accommodation. Beautiful location next to the beach. Friendly owner who speaks fluent English. Best hot water shower in had in two weeks Indonesia!

We had a lovely stay!! The location is beautiful, overlooking the beach and near the night market (amazing bbq'ed fish), rooms are very clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious! Edwin is a wonderful host and made us so welcome, and was a great source of info about Kupang and Timor. Would have stayed longer if we could! Definitely recommend and thanks for a great stay :)
