Lavalon Seaview Hostel & Cafe

We had a lovely stay!! The location is beautiful, overlooking the beach and near the night market (amazing bbq'ed fish), rooms are very clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious! Edwin is a wonderful host and made us so welcome, and was a great source of info about Kupang and Timor. Would have stayed longer if we could! Definitely recommend and thanks for a great stay :)

Amazing! The place to stay in Kupang and ask for info! Seaview rooms, great host and great food!! I had to stay in kupang just for 1night but ended up staying one more night and now i always transit in Kupang and stay at Lavalon! Such good price quality!! It feels amazing to wake up with the sound of the waves and a delicious pankake made by Edwin! Edwin is super nice, a great host and amazing cook - loved the squid and the fish, moringa soup, the heart of banana and the omelettes! He is the real east indonesian encyclopedia, knows all the best deals and can arrange and book anything for you! The room is cozy and clean with hot shower. I never had to turn on the air con, the fan is perfectly enough and you can feel the breeze from the sea :) Hope to come back more times for a calm stay with a nice beer and conversation with Edwim! Perfect place for budget travellers and/or backpackers: - central location (close to pasar malam, sunset viewpont…) - cheap prices, 150-200k. - decent rooms: 1 double room with fan only and 1 double room with AC and fan, bathroom with hot water. - good advice on and able to organise trips around Kupang, Timor and beyond.

Kupang is a wild and sometimes annoying city, so you need a safe haven for your peace at mind and heart. Lavalon provides all this. Nicely located with a view to the beach, you hear all night and day ocean waves (and only a few motorbikes). Edwin is a careing host, good breakfast cook and answers all your questions. Although Covid and natural desasters have hit Lavalon hard, it is a great place to start the tour around Timor. Best of luck for a full recovery, Lavalon!

I stayed 3 nights and had a very pleasant stay. Nice location, clean room with hot shower and breakfast included. But which makes this place singular is his owner, Edwin. Always trying to make the guests feel comfortable.

We stayed at Lavalon for two nights and loved the place. The corner room has tremendous views to the sea. The hot shower has been the best for the last 3 months in East and West Timor. The breakfast was delicious. And we really enjoyed the company of the other travellers this place attracted. Thank you very much for your hospitality and all the information you gave us, Edwin. If we come to Kupang again, we will definitely stay at Lavalon again.

Edwin the owner is a real treasure trove of information about all things in Timor, Flores, and other islands east of Bali. He's really passionate about promoting tourism and local people in the islands. The hostel is definitely a good place to stop in Kupang and stay. While there may be nicer hotels, this place definitely has a local feel. Edwin helped me figure out visa related stuff, and how to get to Alor on short notice. And he really wants to do right by locals. He will even help those who don't stay with him, because he really cares.
