In Armenia, Chefs and Restaurateurs Are Putting Heritage and History on the Plate

"A popular spot in Yerevan where the eponymous flatbread is the star. Diners can observe bakers prepare lavash in the tonir or sit on the terrace watching passersby on Tamanyan Street."

Great spot - loved our lunch here. Almost everything we ordered was fantastic (we ordered salmon that was just so-so, but also this isn’t where to get salmon — that was our fault and this was still a five star lunch). Best service we have had thus far in Yerevan, and that’s competitive because we’ve had a great experience so many different places. The hummus here was especially good! Atmosphere was very pleasant. Location is fantastic. Would eat here again (actually, we tried one night without a reservation and it was too packed to get in). Make a reservation!

Some of the local folk recommended this restaurant and mentioned that it's probably the best restaurant in Yerevan according to the prices. We had no reservation and needed room for 8 people. Without waiting too much they made it happen (5 minutes). We really enjoyed everything we ate. I highly recommend hummus, the eggplant has a wonderful smokey flavour. If I'm not mistaken, they have a dessert that is in the Guinness record book. Unfortunately they were out of it, so we had baklava which was wonderful.

Would definitely come again! Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious — it honestly felt like we worked our way through half the menu. Service was 5 stars, super friendly and especially welcoming with kids. A great experience all round!

Went there during my visit to yerevan, to be honest food was great. Main highlights were the kebab, pork tenderloin & the appetizers. The mille feuille was out of this world, portion was extremely huuuge & taste was on point. We did not like the khinkalis much & the pork stew but everything else we ordered was on point. Comes a bit on the expensive end compared to restaurants in yerevan but totally worth it!

We enjoyed our trip to the Lavash Restaurant, particularly because of the helpful and attentive service from our waiter, Gor! He was always available for whatever we needed and was happy and knowledgeable to answer any questions we had. The cocktails were quite strong and next time I’d like to try the cocktail served in a pumpkin as it was very cute!🍹 My favourite dish we ordered was the Lamb kebab. It was very tasty, fresh and succulent. We were advised it may be a bit spicy but couldn’t taste this personally, the spices inside were a perfect mix. We tried the Homemade Halva and it wasn’t to our taste, we have tried Halva made from semolina previously, but we suspect this was made from flour instead. However, if you are partial to something sweet, then this may be nice to try for you. We chose to sit in the outside area and was seated immediately, it felt private but still had a nice atmosphere. We are glad we came here (also the lavash bread was served with most plates and was super tasty too). Thank you!

Great place, very nice cosy atmosphere. Loved everything about this place. The stuff is very friendly and ready to give you advise and explain the dishes. The place has a lot of vegetarian options. Lots of fresh greens , the fish is superb with local spices, the plates are very generous. The bread is baked behind the glass window. I was very hungry and remembered almost to late to take pics of the dishes 😁 I sincerely recommend this place.

I had very high expectations for this place. I tried the khinkali, the kyufta, the zhengyalov hats and the ghapana with Lavash. I was not enthused apart from the dish with the pumpkin. The waiters don't speak English sufficiently and are not very friendly. Very good cocktails.

By far, our best meal in Yerevan. Food was tasty and service was top notch. Our waitress, Liana, was an absolutely dream. She knew the food, gave good recommendations and ran the indoor section like a boss. Try the stuffed pumpkin (Ghapama) and Ishli Kofta. If you have room, get the Mille-feuille for dessert. Be prepared to wait as this restaurant gets real popular. Reservations recommended.
