One of the most charming bars I’ve ever stepped foot in! The Christmas decor is so perfect, felt like I was in a movie. Would recommend this spot on vibes alone, but food and drink were also great! Chicken was juicy and flavorful, but wished the tortillas got a bit more love — they were a little rubbery and fell apart too easily. The jojos were hot and crispy with a fluffy interior, 10/10. The holiday drink menu all sounded great, tried the daiquiri and really enjoyed it. All in all pretty reasonable prices too! We got there at 5pm and it was already starting to get busy — definitely a popular place right now.

Fun Vibes, Great Food & Drinks! Visited LaVerne’s at 700 NE Dekum St and had a really enjoyable experience overall. The atmosphere is cozy with vintage 1970s retro flair — think leather booths, warm lighting, and classic bar vibes that make it a fun spot to hang out with friends

Menu says there is a happy hour but as 10/8 they told me they did not have a happy hour (yet). Chicken is yummy and so are the cocktails. Reasonably priced for drinks. I thought the price for a whole bird was a little much considering it only came with tortillas and a small side of refried beans. Great atmosphere.

This bar is so sexy! Looks even better than the pics. The drinks are reasonably priced. I couldn’t resist the modelito + mini slushie combo. Also got the margarita “Abueltia”, I usually hate mezcal but it was sooo bomb. We ordered the potato soyrizo tacos. The tacos were small and it would have been nice to be served with salsa. The nachos were verrrry good!

Cool vibes, great food. Went here with a large group (10+) and sat out front. Inside space was big and packed but food service was relatively speedy. Chicken was insane good, tacos were amazing, and shrimp cocktail had tasty ceviche vibes. Decor was quirky and eclectic (think hip grandpa’s basement) with cool art and retro furniture. 11/10 would recommend!

So excited to have this spot in the neighborhood. I missed Oregon Public House when it closed, but it seems LaVernes is doing it proud bringing an elevated but cozy space into Woodlawn. Drinks were delicious, as was the food, and even though our order got lost the folks working were incredibly kind and quick to fix their mistake. Hoping this spot stays around for the long haul!

This place was great! Good vegetarian nachos and I'm not vegetarian. Great selection of fun themed drinks too. Amazing ambiance, with occasional live music and dance floor. They have a pool table that costs $1 to play. I love a bar that doesn't hold onto your card to keep the tab open. Biggest complaint is that it got a bit loud sometimes and that almost never bothers me- everyone in my group of 5 agreed so we asked them to turn it down a bit and they did! They need to replace their speakers. But that's not worth docking points, this place is great!

They advertise Jojo’s on their menu. Ordered them and got soggy steak fries. Super not cool. Edit! Jojos are back and delicious.
