The 24 Best Bars in Paris

"Coins and fabric softener are not needed to enter this bar, hidden behind what appear to be working washing machines and dryers. Just find the right door disguised as a washer (straight opposite the entrance), open it, and head up the narrow wooden staircase. Soon enough, you'll find yourself in a super modern, fluorescent-lit space with a few Brillo pad poufs to sit and sip on. The cocktail menu offers an array of eclectic mashups—some of which are signatures, some of which are seasonal or timely. You can also order natural wine or beer like La Marise from Belgium." - Sara Lieberman

Google
not the best drinks we have ever had, but the atmosphere was amazing!! the crazy entrance makes everything so much cooler but the vibe upstairs is super cool as well. cool sitting possibilities like a swing. and everything feels quite cozy

Elena Weeks

Google
super cool place, it was just super hot inside but the drinks were original and good. great place!

Anastasia Shihabi

Google
Super cute and intimate setting, the concept is very cool. They have classic and original cocktails.

The idea of the hidden entrance disguised as a washing machine is clever, but it’s really just the only intelligent thing. Inside, it’s your typical “gourmet” bar, nothing special. Small, stuffy, and with music that’s way too loud for such a cramped space. At the entrance, the bouncer acts like the local sheriff, coming off as rude and arrogant when we simply tried to film the entrance, even though we had just ordered and paid for drinks. There are plenty of better bars in Paris, don’t waste your time here.

Google
-Service was fast and friendly -The concept of the speakeasy is nice but the interior of the bar itself is honestly nothing special. I could even say it’s a little bit ugly. -Our drinks were good and so was the food. -It was wayyyyyyyyy too expensive. -The concept is nice but honestly a bit of a tourist trap.

Google
I loved this speakeasy! They let you figure out your way in and once you walk up the stairs, it feels like you are in a friends flat. It’s small and intimate, but has a great vibe at night. Covered in books, plants and neon lights, the space has fun sitting options and is good for small groups. I sat at the bar and enjoyed talking to the bartenders.

Obsessed with this place and its sister bar L’epicier. So unique and the drinks were unbelievably good!

Google
Yes, you want the hype about a secret bar in Paris, and heard this one is worth the wait. Sorry to disappoint you however an average 30 minutes wait at a bar, where the only highlight is you enter through à laundromat will leave you feeling a bit cold. And then the cocktails and the near tacky decor is worse. I even got an insipid cocktail in a hugely chipped glass. And finally the ambience if you are really in the mood to scream at each other meet some expats and pay for pricey cocktails pls go by all means. Merci not again

Yelp
Highly recommend. A fun space to check out. First you have to figure out how to enter via the washing machine lol. Once you get through, take the stairs up to the main space which is very intimate. We stopped by on a Tuesday night and we were able to get a spot at the bar. We tried 4 different cocktails and they were all creative and delicious! Check out my photos!

Yelp
Nice speakeasy concept but some of the drinks were a little sweet for my taste. Definitely worth a try though.

Yelp
I stopped by while in Paris and really loved everything about Lavomatic. The employees are kind, the drinks were strong, and I loved the playlist of the night. Plus, I love finding speakeasies in different cities and this one is my favorite!

Yelp
Pretty unique speakeasy in Paris! It's not too undercover as there is a bouncer out front and usually a line down the street. We went around 10:15 on a Tuesday and the line was long but moved pretty quick. Once inside, the space is quite small but has a funky feel to it. Drinks around around €10-15 and really good. I had the "Drink Me !" and it was very sweet. My friend had the Amaretto Sour and that was very good as well. We didn't try any of their food, but they have dim sum, prawns, burrata, etc. Not a crazy bar, but fun for a small group of friends!

Yelp
My fiancé and I arrived at Lavomatic around 10:30pm on a Thursday. It's crazy to think that 10:30pm was "late," but the bouncer started cutting people off a few parties after us. Essentially we were almost to the end of the line. If you go as late as we did, cancel any late night plans and stick to the line as you can expect to wait for almost 2 hrs to get into the bar at that point. When we finally got inside, Lavomatic was quite the speakeasy experience. I didn't want the TikTok videos, o I had no idea how to get in. My fiancé pushed a button, which opened a door that led to a flight of stairs going up to the bar. The space is tiny, so I can totally understand the long wait and exclusivity. The service was excellent. One of the bartenders/server was very friendly and attentive. I absolutely loved the specialty cocktails. I thought they were very unique and crafted well. We ordered each of the drinks (6 total to share between the two of us), and they did not disappoint. I honestly enjoyed everything, but it's worth shouting out the one I think is called Giordino. I've never tasted anything like it, because the drink is made with pesto. It was surprisingly amazing!

Yelp
I did a random search on google for speakeasy's in Paris and Lavomatic was the first thing that came up. So we put it on the list as a must visit before leaving back to the states. Once we arrived, there was a bouncer outside and a line that was about 15 or so people deep. The doorman stated that the wait was about 30 minutes. We decided to bite the bullet and remain in line since we don't know the next time we'll be back in the country. It was our lucky day because the doorman told us that he was cutting the line off and we were indeed last. Several people tried to get in line behind us, but to no avail. We're in June right now, so the weather outside that night was about 78 degrees. However when we got inside, it was HOT as HELL in there. It honestly felt like they had the heater blasting. The heat was unbearable and it kinda ruined the experience before I could indulge in a cocktail. The inside of the place was very nice. Great atmosphere, great music. But again, it was HOT. I was sweating like Patrick Ewing in the 4th quarter. I'm gonna be honest here. The cocktails looked incredible and the presentation was top notch. However the taste of the drinks weren't that impressive at all. Maybe it was the bartender. Who knows? Based on how the drinks appeared visually, I was expecting FIREWORKS. However I just got "pop fizz". This place is great in terms of you getting to say you've gone to the cool laundromat speakeasy in Paris. Anything beyond that is just "meh".

Yelp
Sucked so bad. Never made it past the front door. Bouncer would not let me in since I was by myself. Went back to Moonshiner. Much better bar!!

Yelp
Lavomatic is THE best speakeasy in Paris. If you don't come here wyd?? We came in and got a little confused on how to get in but that is the beauty of a speak easy. When you do get upstairs you will absolutely love everything about this place. It has a cost esthetic and the bartenders are AMAZING and welcoming as ever. If I'm ever in Paris again I'll definitely be back. I love this place.

Yelp
Talk about about a hidden gem! I found out about this speakeasy via word of mouth and it didn't disappoint! This cozy spot has a vintage chill decor. There are a wide variety of throw pillows. There are also two swings located toward the back of the bar. The best part about this joint are the drinks! The drinks taste sophisticated and delicious. The only con is the tight spacing. Overall, great spot to grab a good drink in the trendy neighborhood of République.

Yelp
I came here with my daughter & son in-law. They've been here before. I was totally impressed with this quaint bar. Whoever came up with the idea of a laundromat, was a genius. Other than being a little warm, it was fun!! I only had a ginger ale but they had cocktails. If you're in the area, check it out! You'll be totally confused on how to get in!! Lol!!
google avatar

Yelp
This speakeasy is such a cool concept & offered a great experience. The cocktails were delicious and reasonably priced. The staff was super friendly and accommodating to us throughout our entire visit. I can not wait to go back the next time we are in Paris.

Yelp
An amazing speakeasy located in Paris! Definitely get there early because it does get packed and you will have to wait. Once you get through the entrance and up the stairs you are in a fun spot for small bites and amazing cocktails! They also do the classic cocktails as well, incase if you cant find some on the menu for yourself. I ended up having the Lelavomilk and the petite paloma. Both cocktails were fantastic and presentation was great!
google avatar

Katelyn D.

Yelp
This a an amazing speakeasy with all the fun perks: fun entrance, tasty drinks, friendly staff & a great atmosphere. The entrance is one of the best I've seen and then you head upstairs to a room with various seating options high tops on poles, lounge areas & even swings). The drink menu does change over time and all were good. I had the Oú ESt Charlie, which was light with a hint of sweet to balance the citrus. Everyone enjoyed all their drinks as well. They also have a snacks/appetizers if you need something to munch on. Just FYI, if you are tall, watch your head on the stairs.

Yelp
Fabulous! Such a fun experience! A real Paris treat! Excellent drinks, food was great, and the ambiance is a delight. Staff was awesome! Made the experience even better!

Yelp
Not to blow the cover on this speakeasy or give too much away, but it's nice, a good variety of music and they have a unique drink menu. Definitely one of my favorites in Paris
google avatar

Rebecca T.

Yelp
This is probably the coolest speakeasy I've gone to in Paris. I arrived at 18:00, and there was no line (nor the bodyguard) at the door; I simply pressed the button on the washing machine and entered through the door. Bar is small, but cozy with friendly service from the waiters and bartender. My cocktail was fruity and refreshing, and it came with some olives, which was a nice touch. It's not cheap, but for a drink and great service, Lavomatic is my favorite speakeasy in Paris thus far. It's worth experiencing!

Yelp
Super cool speakeasy in Paris France. We waited 20 minutes on the street to get in. We went through the washer and up the straits to a small room that was a bar. The hostess sat people. The drinks were yummy. They had a special for Valentine's Day. Cost was 13-14 Euros what you would expect. They played good music. But the sitting area was small.

Yelp
Oh the secret bars of Paris in La Republique area of France & there are a few. This by far was my favorite. It is hidden in plain sight and just truly awesome!!! You enter the laundromat and press the washer button and enter the secret bar. It is just so cool you walk up the narrow steps and find yourself in this cute little friendly sit down bar, with adorable laundry inspired decor, low ceiling, and great cocktails. The staff is awesome we sat at the small bar while our mixologist made our drinks in front of us. Must visit place in Paris!

Yelp
A speakeasy that is a working laundromat downstairs? Yes please! I read about this place in one of the weekly "what's going on" magazines in Paris and had to try it. Others had the same idea, it was packed when I arrived about 2230. The entrance is through a laundromat on the ground floor. The secret door (hint) that has something to do with one of the dryers. It is a working laundromat so far as I can tell although I don't know how many people would want to be doing their laundry with a stream of people coming through. That said, the laundromat area was spotless. I'd wash my clothes there! Once you figure out to get in, you climb a narrow staircase and emerge into the bar. It isn't large so plan on getting there a bit early in the evening if you want a seat. The low tables have seats that look like Brillo boxes, nice touch. They do serve small plates of food which I didn't try so this review is solely for the drinks and atmosphere. I had a Winter is Coming cocktail. See the picture of the menu for all the ingredients but it is a Frangelico and rum based drink. The chocolate caviar adds a neat touch also. It was good and mixed well by the bartender. €11 for a craft cocktail isn't too bad. I then tried a mojito for €10. It was also mixed strongly, I would have muddled the leaves a bit to release the mint flavor but perhaps this is how they are made in France. Staff was fun and friendly. I don't speak French so I people watched and chatted with the English speaking bartender. I took off one star due to the warmness of the room. I went in March on a chilly night and due to the number of people in the room it got a bit hot. Will have to come back in the summer to see if the air conditioning can keep up with the heat. Come visit and have a drink. You wont regret it.

Yelp
This was a super cool speakeasy my friend found before we went to Paris. It was a super low key place where we couldn't even tell it was the speakeasy (I guess that's the point). The only reason why we were actually able to locate it was because there was a bouncer standing outside and a group of 2-4 people standing outside. We then read the small plaque on the wall and it says "Lavomatic." I was pretty impressed from the start to finish. When you first walk in, you pull the Laundromat door (like you would when you are doing laundry) and this pulls a large door. You will then walk up the stairs to a small bar area and there are swings as seats. Cocktails are around 13-14 euros (back in 2018 if I remember correctly) and they are pretty unique/decent. Overall, I really enjoyed this place and think it's worth the visit.
google avatar

Philgood D.

Yelp
A great speakeasy. A little crowded so get there early. Service was amazing. Expect a wait for your drinks as each cocktail is hand crafted to perfection. If you dont like what is on the menu give them a base liquor and a flavor profile and they create some unique for you. I really enjoyed my time at Lavomatic and will come back next time I am in Paris

Yelp
Stopped into this BEAUTIFUL speak easy on my trip to Paris back in August. I absolutely loved this place. Getting into it, is difficult to find the little red button. When you get past that washer door its like you're in a whole new world. This is THE place to be in Paris. Its centrally located, the bartenders are AMAZING. A few tips: small seating so no saving seats for friends. make sure you all arrive together.
google avatar

Fiona W.

Yelp
I visited about a year ago but I had a lovely time! Such a cute experience with everything themed laundromat, including drink names! The drinks were great and it was small and cozy in the ways that a good speakeasy should be! My only complaint is that--likely due to the smaller quarters--not all of the seating was very comfortable. Some of my friends were on a low couch but I was sitting on a low stool and ended up fidgeting all night. Once I got a spot on the couch I felt great and overall enjoyed my experience!

Alain R.

Yelp
A not very good place to go. The guard is not nice with people in general. I do not recommend this place at all. If you are looking for this kind of experience, you should prefer to go to the Moonshiner! Employees are real gentleman's compare to this bad place!
google avatar

Benjamin S.

Yelp
I have to admit, the fact that you open a washing machine to get to this bar is pretty great. I can totally see the appeal; it's an awesome trick and a great way to impress a date. Overall, Lavomatic was a cool experience, but I don't know that I'd be back, mainly because the menu left something to be desired, especially if you prefer your cocktails on the more balanced/drier side. Lavomatic feels a bit cramped; the staff have done almost too good of a job of using all the space they have. My friend and I were seated on a very short bench by the door, and in such a way that pretty much anyone coming in and out had to bump into us; not ideal considering they hire a bouncer to make sure the crowd doesn't get too big. We actually would have rather waited another 10 minutes for a more comfortable location. Unfortunately the main source of disappointment here was the drinks; as mentioned earlier, the whole menu leans far to the sweet side. Depending on your palette, that might be fine -- but for the price and the reputation as a cocktail bar, I expected a better balance of options. We chose some of the more vegetal drinks on the menu, and although the flavors were nice, they were still much too sweet. Just dial the sugar back 30%, and they would've been perfect!
google avatar

Guillermo Z.

Yelp
The two bouncers at the door what a terrible attitude. At first, not allowing me to get in and once they finally removed their bodies from the door - which they didn't even open for me- started laughing at me when I was trying to figure out how to enter. I left on the spot, I didn't come to this place to be mistreated. If you don't want tourists or nonwhite people at your bar, put a sign like old times so everyone knows what to expect. I put one star cause I cannot give less than that.
google avatar

Paul H.

Yelp
The bar is small and the line was long. Don't let that sway your decision to try this place as the drinks are really good. I recommend going with a small group and get very cozy with your neighbours. Worth a try if you are in the hood.
google avatar

Jade P.

Yelp
The entrance to this speakeasy is super cute - love the local laundromat feel. Go late enough and it will be PACKED. I'd say there were about 30 people in there and it was tight. Quite hot too. A bit loud. But nothing to keep me from coming back. The drinks are fantastic. One of the best Old Fashioneds I've had in a while. Everyone else in my group enjoyed their drinks. Drinks are served with olives, which were delicious. Lavomatic is good for a drink or two - not necessarily where I would spend more than two hours, especially on a weekend night.
google avatar

Natalie S.

Yelp
I came here on a Tuesday and it was fine, overpriced drinks per usual. I came back on a Friday and multiple servers were rude to me and told me "get out or buy a drink". After this event, the workers proceded to talk badly about us thinking we would not be able to realize. I get that it's a tourist location but is it NOT worth your time!!!

Kate P.

Yelp
Was so exited to come here but was a TOTAL letdown. The security was so judge mental and rude when all we did was wait in line patiently. There was nothing we could have done they were prejudice against Americans. We were so excited to have a good time but they truly ruined our night. Do not come here, there are SO many better!
google avatar

Meg K.

Yelp
The Speakeasi-est of the hidden bars we visited on our trip! I felt pretty absurd standing in this laundromat trying to figure out how to get into? behind? around? the right washer to reveal the stairs to the bar! Once we made it inside, the space was decorated really cool. Loved that they stuck to the laundromat vibe with the faux boxes of detergent for seating. My favorite seat though, was the swing hanging from the ceiling! The cocktails were pretty basic and classic, but it is definitely worth going for the wild entrance to the bar -- make your friend be the one to try to figure out how to get in and be ready with video!
google avatar

Maddisen A.

Yelp
We were in Paris during the week and decided we'd spend our Tuesday night at Lavomatic. Definitely a good decision the drinks were fun and delicious, the music was good with a couple of early 2000s throw backs in there. It was crowded but the staff does a good job of shifting you around to a better table before they let anyone else in so if you walk in and end up at a not so great table they'll move you around. If your looking for a fun place to have a few drinks on a Tuesday I recommend this place!
google avatar

Matthew P.

Yelp
It's a pretty neat speak-easy under the guise of a laundromat. It was a bit obvious it was a bar since there was a line with a bouncer. Once we got inside it was really cool just a bit small though. The servers were very attentive and got us drinks right away, which was surprising considering how crowded it was when we were there. I will definitely come back next time I'm in Paris.
google avatar

Ingrid F.

Yelp
This place was around the corner from my hotel, I strolled in one night for a drink. The place is very small but the drinks were really good and creative. I couldn't figure out how to get in but the bouncer gave me a tip lol. Press the button on the washing machine.
google avatar

SamIsHeretoParty H.

Yelp
Just wanted to do my laundry. Imagine my dissapointment. Drinks were strong, and over half your party must order something to keep your table.
google avatar

Kate Lý J.

Yelp
Overpriced but quite the experience, for sure. Very good vibes (super quirky and fun) and good drinks, too. Nothing can beat that entrance. Loved the swings. Definitely coming back again!
google avatar

Derek M.

Yelp
Lavomatic is a speak easy in an area that reminds me of NYU in NYC. Basically, lots of young adults in College age looking to have a good time, sometimes that's rowdy & sometimes that's just calm. Lavomatic has a long line out the door so get there early, before 10pm. Once inside you'll pull open the washing machine door and voila you'll head up a dark tiny staircase to the bar. The bar inside is super cozy and has several standing tables & swings. We got a few cocktails here, I forgot the names but tbh they were just OK. Still, super cool place to check out!
google avatar

Courtney F.

Yelp
Pretty crowded but cute novelty little speakeasy! definitely hip and young. Drinks are ok, more the novelty aspect.

Heather B.

Yelp
Speakeasy in a laundromat - I loved it! There was a bouncer outside that had me and my group of friends wait while they made room for us to come inside. Once they were ready to let us in, we got to walk through a washing machine which was so fun. Once inside, it was a bit crowded and lively. We had a standing table, but were later able to move to seating. Our waiter was friendly and accommodating. The cocktails were a bit expensive, but it wasn't too surprising. Also the cocktails were good. I tried several of them while enjoying the fun atmosphere with friends.
google avatar

Luke R.

Yelp
I was recommended this bar by a local who was renting us his flat. He was right. This eclectic bar is one of truly unique experiences that I had in Europe. As you arrive you find a small room with washing machines, and we had to ask the doorman how to open them in order to get into the bar. Their unique cocktails are both inventive and delicious... They are artists with alcohol. Top marks.
google avatar

Julia D.

Yelp
Cute speakeasy in Paris. We waited about 20 minutes to get in around 8pm on a Friday. Upstairs the seating was a cozy mix of window seats, stools, standing tables, and some hanging chairs. The cocktails were decent, not anything to write home about but the atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. You enter through two fake washing machine doors. Would come back to grab a drink with friends.
google avatar

Nerissa C.

Yelp
It's a laundromat speakeasy! SUPER long queue so be ready to wait a while to get in. I'm actually quite surprised the parisians are willing to queue for this place but it's got a fun vibe and I'm glad I stopped in! Cocktails are about $10 euros ish and are strong but it's fun. Definitely loud and very very tight but cool to stop in if you are hip :P
google avatar

Amber Z.

Yelp
This place is awesome! Very small and chic. Cocktails are around 10€ but I got a nice rosé for 6€. The wait staff are nice and on a weekday it closed around 1:30am.
google avatar

Michele F.

Yelp
Very fun place with nice atmosphere and music. Drinks looked very interesting but chose only wine. Must try this fun place
google avatar

Marian N.

Yelp
Such a cool place to visit and take friends from out of town here- you're sat by a worker once you come in (we arrived around 1130pm) and sat at the bar, which we prefer so we can see what the bartenders making. The bartender was so friendly and helpful, takes pride in his drinks and does phenomenal job. Hubby got the old fashioned with burnt sage/thyme and I got the rose petal cocktail (don't know the name). Forgot what the other two drinks we got but all four were yummy and reasonably priced.
