Coming here in 2015 & 2016 were the best days, before they installed the stairs/walkway. It was difficult to get up and there were obviously less people back then. I truly enjoyed the hike up, with a reward of the beautiful view. I have not been back since then, but here is a post with photos from before, for those who may not know what this place looked like before it became Insta-Tik-Tok Famous.

It is absolutely a beautiful place & view. Best place to see the sunrise & sunset and to start your journey of the Komodo cruise. The hike is one of the hardest because there is no lane and it's very sandy, the way down is harder. It was closed due to fire in 2018, so please make sure you don't bring anything flammable as it is a savannah.

The sunset view was amazing. There are choices of trails. If you are lucky you can see deers near the beach

Really nice small island. Some cruises to Flores stop here for a hike that is quite steep but absolutely worth it! The view on top is astonishing! Quite a must if you haven't done Padarang

I had been traveling for months, and I was starting to feel a little jaded. I had seen so many amazing things, but nothing seemed to really surprise me anymore. But then I came to Gililawa Darat. I had heard about the island from a friend, who had told me that it was one of the most beautiful places in the world. I didn't believe him at first, but after I saw it for myself, I had to admit that he was right. Gililaw Darat is located in the Komodo National Park, and it is a small, uninhabited island. The island is covered in lush vegetation, and there are several hiking trails that lead to the top of the island. I decided to hike to the top of the island early in the morning, so that I could watch the sunrise. The hike was challenging, but it was worth it. When I reached the top of the island, I was greeted by a breathtaking view. The sun was rising over the horizon, and the sky was ablaze with color. The island was bathed in a golden light, and it looked like something out of a dream. I stood there for a long time, just taking it all in. I felt a sense of peace and tranquility that I had never felt before. I knew that I would never forget this moment. As I watched the sun rise, I thought about all the amazing things that I had seen in my travels. I had seen the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal, and the pyramids of Giza. But none of those places had taken my breath away like Gililawa Darat. I realized that there is still so much beauty in the world to be discovered. And I am grateful that I had the opportunity to experience it. As I hiked back down the mountain, I felt a sense of renewed hope. I realized that there is still so much to see and do in the world. And I am excited to continue my travels. I know that I will never forget my time on Gililawa Darat. It was a truly magical experience.

it's an inhabited island with hills that surrounds the island just like the typical island there. You can do enjoyable hiking under the most amazing sky view. Either sunrise or sunset you'll enjoy both as much! If you are just not in the mood to hike you can simply just take gorgeous pictures with friends, especially when it is that season wheee the grass grew into an amazing savanna look alike

I came here on the third day of my Komodo Island trip, but since I couldn't make it going on top this steep mountain, then I just took a camera and wandering around the beach. Beautiful view!

Amazing view, but you have to hike up to the hill to see the best scenery.
