Nice local vibes and somw good local breakfast grub. The service was nice and very friendly, I liked the welcoming tone from the staff. I had a simple omelette with ham and cheese. I thought it was good, but not out of this world. Its breakfast good. The fried potatoes were pretty yummy and the croissant is probably wholesale bought, so it was soft and balanced with butter that you find at local supermarkets. Overall, it good breakfast if your in need of something to eat, but not a place I would go out my way for.

Ate breakfast. Had the mushroom and cheese omelette with potatoes and toast. Also had the veggie omelette with potatoes. Had hot tea. Unsweet tea and water. It was busy. The staff super nice we got seated right away. Will be nack.

In all the years I have been to Ocean City. I’ve never had the opportunity to stop by this restaurant. Four of us stopped by as they opened on a weekday morning. Since we arrived a little before opening, we were greeted by Shawn, who took outstanding care of us and let us in. Shawn opened the doors, got us seated and we had coffee almost immediately. An occasional patron or two, who appeared to be regulars, filtered in. For breakfast we ordered eggs Benedict, pancakes, and waffle and eggs. Overall, a pretty good breakfast with outstanding service. I never had to ask for more coffee, and Shawn checked in with us frequently. When I return in the summer, I will bring my family here. We typically stay above 60th St. or higher but it is worth the trip. The place did have a family vibe which was nice. Why you are here, you should check out the various wall decorations. There is quite a lot of history here and it is quite fascinating. Hope you get the opportunity to stop in and have a meal.

It was just ok! The service was so slow , 45 minutes to get our food!!! They put us in a secluded area and forgot about us and after reminding them we existed they still served food so late . Food below average so as service.

Google
We ate here during our family vacation for breakfast. The food was delicious I had the coconut banana pancakes. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. A must place to eat for breakfast, the place was busy ….

Google
Extremely average food. Avoid the steak and eggs. The steak was overcooked and so chewy. The eggs Benedict’s are good. Service is very slow. Overall extremely average. Would not come back.

Google
Cute place for casual food. We had breakfast. Food was okay. All drinks were served in paper cups, including the tomato juice and milk -- that was a little bit weird. Also we couldn't get the servers attention to get extra napkins so ask for some as soon as you order😊

Google
We ordered 9 dozen donuts for our condo meeting on 11/9/24. Everyone loved them and said they were the best donuts they ever had tasted. Service was great! We'll definitely order next year for our meeting. Thank u

Yelp
A long time Ocean City tradition with solid breakfast offerings. Always stop in when in town.

PB B.

Yelp
I previously stated that this place was great, well I need to recount that....... The DONUTS are AMAZING!!! The girls at the register doing the donuts are very nice. However, had breakfast there this morning. Me and my husband dont get why its so packed. His waffle was chewy and he had to use his own pocket knife to cut it. I had oatmeal and fruit, both were good. But lets get real, neither of those items were "cooked". Nothing special. The coffee was way too bitter. Service also wasnt that great. Felt like our server was preoccupied with other "regulars" than tending to us as well. Also, went to the restroom, where the toilet paper roll was on the floor, how is that sanitary...???? The toilet paper thing wasnt even on the stall. So I am assuming they need a new one.

Amelia C.

Yelp
The glazed donut was not good. The donut was extremely toooo chewy. The chocolate glazed donut was much better- chewy still but much less chewy than the original glazed donut.

Cammi P.

Yelp
An amazing breakfast place in Ocean City. Quick, nice service with yummy breakfast. Definitely the perfect spot to go in the morning before heading to the beach!

Yelp
I can't give Laytons any less than 5 stars because their food is great. Their service is great. And they don't lose their minds 4 months a year when OC's population swells Tenfold. The food is delivered fast and fresh all the time. Note: their parking lot is a little tight and you may have to wait to pullout if they are getting a delivery but that doesn't happen often. You can also park on the side across from their door. Do not leave without trying their freshly made donuts. You will be the hit of your vacation group if you come home with a dozen. Offseason is a dream. No waiting from mid October on. I'm headed there now for a donut

Yelp
Customer service - 5 out of 5 Wait time - 5 out of 5 Atmosphere - 3 out of 5 Cleanliness - 2 out of 5 Food quality - 3.5 out of 5 My wife was really excited to give this restaurant a try for breakfast because she had been there once before and loved their pancakes. When we arrived, we noticed that the restaurant was quite busy, but the estimated wait time of 15 minutes was pretty accurate, if not a few minutes shorter than expected. As we were seated at our table, we couldn't help but notice that it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. There were still a few crumbs from the previous diners. However, our waitress promptly came over to take our order and she was both friendly and professional. One thing that really bothered me was the condition of the walls underneath the windows next to our table. They were extremely dirty and appeared as though they hadn't been cleaned in years. This was not only unsightly, but also made me feel a bit uneasy about the overall cleanliness of the establishment. When it came to the food, it was a bit of a mixed bag. My omelette was a delight - it was packed with tasty meat, cheese, and cooked to perfection. The potatoes that accompanied it had good flavor, but were a bit on the boring side. On the other hand, I had heard other diners raving about the donuts, so I couldn't resist trying an Apple fritter, which is a classic favorite of mine. Unfortunately, I was quickly disappointed when I took my first bite. The fritter lacked the distinct taste of apples and cinnamon that I was hoping for. It barely had any glaze on top and the amount of apple pie filling on it was minimal. Apple fritters are supposed to be generously filled with diced apples throughout the pastry, creating a sensational experience with every bite. This particular donut was a letdown and definitely not worth the $4 plus dollars. To add to the mixed reviews, my wife's pancakes were a bit too sweet for my taste, but that could have been due to the choice of toppings. While the omelette was a winner, I must say that I have had better breakfast experiences at many other restaurants throughout Ocean City. Considering all of these factors, I have made the decision to add this particular restaurant to my list of places that I will not be returning to. However, I won't go as far as to say that I do not recommend it, as the omelette was truly enjoyable. But for me personally, it's not a place I will be revisiting in the future. With a score of 18.5 out of 25 stars, I give this restaurant a C.

Thomas M.

Yelp
Best breakfast in Ocean City Maryland! Large menu and fast, friendly service! We always eat here when we're in town!

Manuel L.

Yelp
Old school restaurant my wife use to visit every time she is in town. Donuts are great but to me just another breakfast place on the beach

Lovell W.

Yelp
Went for a late breakfast. We were cutting it close; got there a few minutes to 12, and they close at 1pm. There was a wait of about 26 minutes. Our server was nice and efficient... took our drink order first. While he was getting our drinks, it gave us a couple of minutes to finalize what we wanted to order. Then it was 25 minutes before we received our order. My steak was kind of rubbery, and scrambled eggs were dry (I should have asked for cheese on top). I'm using the Metadata time info from my images to include the wait times.

David D.

Yelp
In order to serve breakfast ALL DAY, you would need to be open ALL DAY. If you close your restaurant at 1pm, you are not open ALL DAY. These are basic truths of restaurant mgmt.

Katie C.

Yelp
Not great. It took a while to be seen after being seated on a Monday at 8am (not busy judging by the empty tables). Once we were seen the server was nice and cheerful. The food itself was whatever. It was not really hot. The coffee was tragic. Save your $$. Go hit up the McDonald's down the road or try another breakfast place. Maybe this was just an off day for them but I would not go back.

Manny B.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful place to have breakfast. Small, cozy atmosphere. Feels welcoming. Lots of fresh baked donut options, although we didn't try them. I tried the breakfast with eggs, home fries, toast and crab cakes. I added a second crab cake. It came out quick and was extremely hot and fresh. The coffee was excellent. The service was excellent. The price was also very reasonable for a tourist area. I 100% recommend this to anyone looking for a great breakfast spot in Ocean City, Maryland!

Fayola G.

Yelp
I've been coming to Laytons for about 10 years when I come to Ocean City, MD. I have never been disappointed with the food, service, or doughnuts. Must have doughnuts when you come here. Oh, and the pancakes, they are delicious too. One day I'll do a lunch item. This time around I had Shawna as my server. Let me just say she is literally a ball of sunshine. She is so friendly, has great energy, and is great with the suggestions. Now I have never had bad service here, but She has to be the best server I've encountered ever, anywhere.

Robyn L.

Yelp
Servers were extremely polite. I ordered the Belgian waffles. They were so chewy and hard you couldn't cut it with a knife. My mom was served a chipped bowl in 3 places which could have broken off into my food. The toast was not toasted. The eggs were good. The water and coffee was good.

Jenna D.

Yelp
As a diner it was meh. Service was lacking. I ordered cream chipped beef on an English muffin and the muffin was not toasted. When I asked for Worcestershire sauce to go with it the waiter took over 15 minutes to bring it. My friend got the Belgium waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. The strawberries and whipped cream were forgotten, the waiter reminded, and that too took more than 15 minutes to get. By then our orders were tepid. It was expensive but OC is expensive. I will not return. Too many other opportunities.

Joy F.

Yelp
Excellent fresh made donuts! We tried to buy them Friday, but they were completely sold out, so we arrived early Saturday morning. Cake donuts but still light and crispy- the glazed and cinnamon sugar were the best. The coffee was also balanced and a nice basic cup to accompany! Would go again

Candice H.

Yelp
If you like French Toast come to Layton's. It's like an out of body experience it's so good

Tom M.

Yelp
It is not a trip to Ocean City without having breakfast at Layton's. The food is delicious and the variety is great. The food is prepared properly and is a generous portion. If you are able to finish your meal then you need to check out the amazing donuts. Also, the staff there is very friendly and treat you like family.

Jason A.

Yelp
Overall, good experience. Food was prompt and our server was polite and friendly. My wife's breakfast wrap was good but nothing too special. My omelet was delicious and cooked perfectly. The biscuit was also moist. My kid loved the pancakes and ate almost all of them and he devoured the bacon. The bacon was good but not crispy. My big issue was the potatoes. They were not breakfast potatoes. They were steak fries cut small and deep fried. They weren't even crispy, but were clearly old and rubbery. Apart from this, it was a good breakfast.

Nikki R.

Yelp
Quick and affordable. Never disappointed when we choose to eat here on our trips to OC. Breakfast is the best. Lots of choices!

Chanin M.

Yelp
The service was great. The restaurant was clean. The staff was friendly. The food was yummy. I'll be back to buy donuts in the morning for the ride home.

Hank K.

Yelp
Ok, food was very good. I can only imagine how packed this place in the summer. Ambiance was friendly and beachy. Hands down the star of the restaurant was the server. Hands down the best and most attentive server I have EVER experienced. Full of positive energy. Wish I remembered her name, I was pretty over hung...

Lindsey K.

Yelp
This was recommended by friends and we greatly appreciated the recommendation! Great breakfast place with classic diner options. Service was fast and the waitress was friendly. The hollandaise sauce had a great flavor but wasn't too heavy like others.

Mike J.

Yelp
Veggie scramble is delicious. I added bacon bits and swapped out the turkey sausage for pork sausage. Tomatoes were not ripe (pale) but otherwise no complaints. Wife got the eye opener. She says it is yummy tho wishes it came w veggies (a bit of a basic breakfast). French toast is fluffy tho made w texas toast. Doing it with brioche would have been a nice upgrade. You get 4 slices of french toast w the kids meal so next time we'll just do 2 kids meals instead of an adult french toast.

Ken S.

Yelp
No Better Breakfast Spot on the Beach !!! On a recent visit to my old stomping grounds of DC my oldest son wanted to take his 11 yo nephew to his favorite Atlantic beach town, OCMD. We enjoyed Breakfast here on our first morning in town. I had been eating Crab nonstop since I got to the shore, as usual, so the Eastern Shore Crabber from their Omelet selection was right on track for me. It rocked, I couldn't have done better. My Grandson had a Pancake the size of his plate with Bacon and my Son had the Breakfast Burrito as expected since I call him "Hunior". We should've come back the following day because or Breakfast choice didn't work out so well. The Chipped Beef Gravy was as good as Mom's I recommend it and I highly recommend Layton's for breakfast on your next foray to the Eastern Shore of MD. Ay Dare Boy!

Anthony D.

Yelp
Service was crap. Over 1 hour to get food. When the server asked what our drinks were, I said "copious amounts of coffee" and then never saw him again after he filled my cup once. But he spent lots of time talking to his friend in the next table. A Western omelette, a crab omelette, a bowl of fruit, a soda, a cup of orange juice and a coffee were all but $62. The food was mediocre and the coffee was just as crappy as the service. A waste of time and $

Michael L.

Yelp
Been down here several times on vacation. Laytons on 94th. Just good enough to go back to. Always a small issue...dirty coffee cups...lack of acknowledgement from staff...cold food slow service. However on my latest visit it was a quandary of things. Was sat down and after 20 minutes I had to ask a server if someone could take our order. Five to ten minutes later our server came to our table. We place our drink order and food order at the same time in order to expedite our food. We waited a long time, in a less than half full restaurant that did not seem very busy We got our food after a long wait and it was room temperature. Our server came over ask us how everything was. We were hungry and did not want to send our food back based on how long it took to get it in the first place and so I conveyed to the the server all was good. However as I continued our chilly meal, I had to start picking eggshells out of my mouth from my omelette and my toast was very tough..like it was toasted the reheated and hour later. My wife just gave up trying to melt butter on her French toast. Our server returned and we expressed our disappointment and relayed our concerns. We asked for a to go container for my wife and her French toast (so she could go home and reheat it herself) . The server was apologetic however I informed her to please tell the manager/owner regarding our experience and inform them we will be visiting OC again but not Leytons restaurant. I am sure there are other other options for breakfast in the area.

Crissie M.

Yelp
Really nice family restaurant great service, great food pleasant people. We went there in December 2023 this year and even though it was off-season, food was great everything was hot fresh definitely will return! 5/5

Sharon R.

Yelp
First and last visit. Looking for a new place to check out for breakfast. Saw a small crowd waiting so decided to try. Only a 5 minute wait where we were seated at the first booth near the entrance, check out and where folks line up to buy pastries. Our mouths were watering considering taking some to go but we stayed focused on breakfast. All 3 orders ordered scrapple - mine was hot, my spouses seemed previously cooked and my sisters was too thin (scrapple crisp). I gave her half of mine. My toast wasn't toasted and sis's blueberry pancakes were like store brought microwave ones. Potatoes were ho-hum as well. I just wanted to hurry up and leave. We all left large amounts on our plates when we regrettably paid for our food. And no - we changed our minds about getting pastries. If the breakfast was lack luster I can only imagine driving back to Virginia to trash those too!!

Yelp
Layton's Family Restaurant [LFR]. (3 stars). Note: The hours on the door say 0630-1300 daily but they aren't always open during those times... I suppose the off season allows for this but it is difficult to plan... Call before you go!! LFR is located in OCMD. They are a no-frills diner type restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and DONUTS made in house. The donut side of the house is called Dip'n Donuts. Randy and I stopped at LFR for our first breakfast in OCMD. He opted for the Nor'easter with sausage gravy and I got the pancakes with eggs and corned beef hash. Nor'easter: 3 scrambled eggs, onions, green peppers, bacon, sausage & potatoes topped with cheese. Sausage gravy was optional. The corned beef hash is canned and a little too salty for me but it was a hearty breakfast nonetheless. The pancakes were fluffy and not burnt like some places so I appreciated that. I decided to get the "purple crunchy" donut. Well that's what the waiter called it. It was a vibrant beautiful purple which was crunchy and delightful! The donut itself is an "old fashioned" cake donut with a glaze that had a subtle coconut flavor to it?? The purple crunchy topping didn't have any flavor that I could discern... Coffee is refillable and comes in a to go cup. Parking is available in a private shared lot. Decent diner food that is open year round in OCMD. A step above Denny's for sure! I wish LFR well.

Rick S.

Yelp
Great food. We will definitely be back. Not too far from the beach. A hidden gem is the chicken tortilla soup. Make sure to grab a variety of sauces.

JP W.

Yelp
The wait staff provided great service. This breakfast spot was crowded and is popular. The food is good. I would recommend Layton's.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Came here on recommendation from our hotel.... and it seems like a popular spot. It's your typical diner food so don't expect much. Service was lacking. Not once did the server come to refill our drinks. I got the French toast with strawberry and whipped cream topping. It didn't come with whipped cream, and had about 2 sliced strawberries.... for an extra $2.50. A bit outrageous. The donuts must not have been very good, our kids only ate half and didn't want to take them to go but I can't speak about them from personal experience. Felt like I wasted my calories here.

Kendoll C.

Yelp
Admittedly we only ended up at Layton's because in the off-season all of our normal go-to places were closed. Now, after dining, I will add Layton's to the rotation. We ordered to-go, because our pooch was with us. We selected: coconut pancakes w/scrambled eggs, and corned beef hash & the sausage and pepper jack cheese omelet The pancakes were massive! I got three LARGE pancakes caked with toppings. They do not skimp. There were mounds of shredded coconut, chucks of fresh banana packed into my pancake-it was almost more topping than pancake The eggs are just scrambled eggs, but the hash was chunky and delicious. A piece of it was a bit salty, but it was just one section-and ketchup fixes too much salt. The omelet was packed with sausage, the cheese wasn't just on top but cooked in and through. The prices are great for the quality and size of the dishes. It was a wonderful breakfast on the beach. I also appreciated the way they packed the meals to go- they provided everything in well-spaced out to go boxes, with all the fixings (syrup, ketchup, butter, and anything else we may have needed provided). It was as if we had a homecooked meal from family.

Kayla P.

Yelp
Always love eating at Layton's or getting takeout! The food is amazing, expecially the bakery items.

Theresa H.

Yelp
My Husband wanted to eat here for Breakfast. When he takes his Annual Golfing trip to the OC, him and his buddies always eat here. We had a bit of a wait, we waited on there Patio and the Hostess came outside and called our name. They have a big menu, lots of choices to choose from. The dining room was full, but they do practice Social Distancing by skipping tables . Our Waitress came right over and we ordered our Drinks and placed our orders. I got the Ham and Cheese Omelet with Home Fries and Wheat Toast, my husband got the Eggs Benedict with Ham and Home Fries. Everything was delicious and plentiful. Our Waitress was Friendly and attentive. They have a homemade Donut Shop inside to, but we were to full to get some. We will definitely be returning when we come back to the OC again.

Mike L.

Yelp
Loved this place! Such a great atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The menu is packed full of great, tasty food. The donuts are SO GOOD! I loved that they serve they hot sometimes. Today I had the chipped beef and toast, something I have not had in a LONG TIME. It's that kind of food that puts meat on the bones!!! This place is worth a stop if you are in the area!

Kristi A.

Yelp
Great eatery not far from our hotel. It had a wait but not too long. They had a great breakfast menu with lots of options. We enjoyed our breakfast and the homemade doughnuts were delicious! My breakfast wrap was smaller then I anticipated but delicious.

Tanya S.

Yelp
Made the few streets trek with my kiddo down to Layton's for breakfast. Because the restaurant in our hotel had the audacity to charge 10 bucks for a bacon egg and cheese on toast. There was a wait (basically about 20 minutes) but it was worth it. It's definitely giving off the family owned restaurant vibe. And I love it. I had the sweet potato pancakes, and he had a bacon, egg and cheese on toast. The portion of my pancakes was more than generous and it was sublime, sooo good! (took half of it back to hotel with me, because luckily we have a fridge!) Our bill came to $26 for the both of us. (We also each had a drink) so very reasonable. Highly recommend. * One small note if you're trying to decide between the medium and large for a drink. Go for the large, unlike some places the large isn't HUGE. It's exactly what a large should be. We will definitely be back! I cannot recommend

Erica L.

Yelp
It's April and a Tuesday - not many places are open full-time just yet, but Layton's was! I called in an order for two breakfast sandwiches and two orders of breakfast potatoes. The food was ready in ten minutes and a nice lady helped me to check out. The food was good and I will be back! PS: they also have fresh donuts and sweets such as cinnamon rolls and turnovers that I would also love to try!

Scott D.

Yelp
Excellent service and a decent breakfast. Nothing fancy but hot coffee, lots of standard breakfast choices and very tidy premises. We had omelets, coffee with sides of potatoes or tomatoes. The eggs could have been scrambled more- you could see plenty of white left in the cooked egg. Some of my tomato slices were a bit soggy and out of date. Otherwise, quite enjoyable experience.

Joe R.

Yelp
If you like cold out of the can food Scooped to order A+ If you want fresh food and good service go to Mc Donald's you get your money's worth

Ashley M.

Yelp
IF YOU LOVE A GOOD DINER YOU'LL LOVE LAYTON'S! Laytons was such a nice hidden gem in the heart of Ocean City. Number 1 - it was super convenient for us to walk to from our hotel (we stayed at the Holiday Inn and Suites). Number 2 - the prices were so refreshing to see in the heart of a tourist driven area where everything seems to be skyrocketed. Number 3 - it was good food, excellent service, and quick. Everyone loved their food, and between the four of us we had a combination of lunch, breakfast, and sides. We didn't try the donuts although they looked delicious! If you're staying in Ocean City and want a great place for lunch or breakfast, Laytons is a must!

Lora Ann N.

Yelp
Not great at all my cinnamon bun was hard and stale and my oatmeal was a bowl of dried up mash

Mark M.

Yelp
Really enjoyed breakfast here with my family. Service was quick and friendly, and the coffee was fairly regularly filled (not as fast as I can drink it, but fast enough). I had Eggs Florentine Hollandaise, and let me tell you, there was about 3000 calories worth of Hollandaise sauce on there! And it was worth it! Haha. We also had a couple donuts, the best of which was the standard glazed. The chocolate bacon donut was really lacking any flavor at all, bit disappointed there. Prices were very reasonable, especially on the beach. It's slightly better than I expected overall, and the ability to walk in and only buy donuts to go is nice! We would return for sure.

Cindy P.

Yelp
I took away 2 stars because of the unfriendly waitress. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Will definitely revisit this place for breakfast when back in OC. Get some polite waitpersons. We wanted to get a dozen donuts to take back to our room, but the waitress would not come to the counter to wait on us.

Gina D.

Yelp
I was very disappointed with our visit here. We've been to the Layton's on 92nd street and was kind of expecting the same. My waffle was rubbery, coffee was cold and my husband had a giant hair in his eggs. I guess everyone has their off days. Was really looking forward to a nice breakfast.

Gabrielle C.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and order the Sweet Potato Pancakes with honey butter!! AMAZING! Eggs Benedict was delicious and the breakfast potatoes were crispy and seasoned well. Went earlier to avoid the wait and were sat right away. Our waitress was great, and she was right...the sweet potato pancakes are fire!

John W.

Yelp
Verdict: If you get the fritter, be prepared for a serious fritter. If you don't get one, you're missing out. I'd recommend sharing one of these bad boys and not necessarily with one other person. An apple fritter here may be fit for three. Don't believe me? Check one out for yourself and think about their size compared with a donut. Keep in mind, these don't have a hole in them either. Layton's is a bit of a breakfast staple around here. There's often a line during peak season. If you just want donuts and the like, you can simply go up to the counter and order some to go there. As for the breakfast, it's good and also fairly standard American breakfast fare. Not a bad option if you're looking to stay off the boardwalk and are looking for something familiar for yourself and the family.
