Lazy Bear Lodge

Awesome place for riders! We have been biking for over 42 years and this is honestly the best place we have stayed at. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the hosts and the atmosphere they have created is what brings it to the top level. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, outside has tons of seating areas to gather with the friends you came with and make new ones. They say it is your home while you are there and it is. And on top of all that, the price is very reasonable.

5/10 - Can’t give this anything more than 2/5. Owners-if you are reading this, which I hope you are, I’m not saying you run a bad hotel, however there are definitely some things that need your attention ASAP. The good-the bathroom was clean, towels were clean and nice to use, carpet was vacuumed good, inside drawers and shelves were clean, fridge and microwave were clean. Coffee maker in room. Very cute exterior of motel with a clean pool, nice flowers, and lots of cute bear statues which I loved. There is also a hotel cat with big paws that was adorable😍. The bad-door has been kicked in at some point and had to slam it to shut, and it was loose when it was closed, not a tight seal. The screws holding the door striker to the door were loose and one fell out completely. Don’t think it’s much of an ask to have a safe and properly closing door. Box springs didn’t have a sheet over them-there were gross stains visible and they are yellowed. The top comforter on the bed is clearly from the 90s, and both had hairs all over the underside of them! GROSS! The rest of the bed/pillows were clean and hair free but those top comforters were gross and got thrown on the chair. The mattress did not have a mattress cover on it, just 2 fitted sheets, I have never stayed at a hotel where the mattress is unprotected. Yuck. The carpets also need to be shampooed. Not a dive, but also not great. Would not stay again. Pictures below.

We love our stay! We are a group of hikers from Calgary. We wanted to summit Mt Fisher in Cranbrook and stayed at this motel. We loved every second of the stay. The balcony was wide enough to allow us to still do our yoga routine. Initially, we planned doing it at the pool but it was raining whole Sunday. We're glad the balcony could accommodate the space we needed. We were happy with the kitchen and free use of BBQ which doubled our savings. The pool was perfect to cool off. Staff are very friendly. Can't wait to come back in August for a 2 nights stay.

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel recently I met the owners daughter, and their aunt, and after having worked in the hotel hospitality business for many years found this facility, very clean, reasonably priced, and quite frankly, the customer service was absolutely outstanding I highly recommend this hotel I have stated other hotels in Cranbrook. I’m not gonna name them, but I would not stay there again. I will stay at this hotel again absolutely thank you again to all staff for the amazing experience of this wonderful place. I personally rate this hotel 20 stars out of five

We visited for the July long weekend with our bike club and couldn't be happier with the place. While the room we stayed in was still undergoing some updating it was very clean and the bed was comfortable, the pool was perfect for the 30 plus weather and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The owners treat their guests like family! I can't say enough good things about this place.

I stayed here for a week as it was a decent deal. Although upon checkin the room was very outdated, dirty, stained carpets and bedding. The bed itself was very uncomfortable. People smoked directly outside my window daily and drank out there nightly. The room smelt of gas although the heater seemed to be turned off. There was gum stuck to the modem and the coffee pot was dirty upon checkin. I asked multiple times for the room to be cleaned and they finally came on day 3 which was the only time they cleaned the entire week i was here. Even after they said they cleaned the coffee pot they had not so i gave up asking as i seem to be bothering the staff by asking them to do there job. I will never return to this hotel nor would i recommend it. I stayed at the days in the month before and it was way better for the price. still a little outdated but very clean. They also say on the website that they have free breakfast which is also not the case and hasn't been for 4 years they say so someone should update the page so others are disappointed. They give you ice buckets but you have to go to lobby and they give you a small sandwich bag with homemade ice. Everything about this screams NEW management which hopefully is the case as this hotel appears to be for sale online. They do have a order pool and a few bbqs for people to use which i guess could be a plus if there wasn't so many people outside drinking. The staff also sits right outside the check in area smoking most of the day and if not they are inside drinking beers while people checkin. Super unprofessional. There also was a tv but this had a huge black stripe down the screen making it difficult to watch.

The customer service here is amazing. My husband and I arrived late at night and we were greeted with the kindest lady, super lovely to talk to and was ready to give us great recommendations for what to do in town. The room was absolutely stunning,a very homie cabin feel to it! Definitely will be staying here again next time we pass through

Biker friendly. Clean rooms and soft bed. It’s a bit noisy with the traffic at times but I’ve stayed in much noisier. The price is great and the owners and staff are super friendly. Close to amenities (7-11 and 420 shop within a couple blocks Among other things). Pool in the summer looks like it would be a bunch of fun with the kids. If you are ok with a bit dated, inexpensive and super friendly lodging, this is the place. It’s my second time here and I’ll stay here every time I come through. If you can’t handle a little bit of noise, you may want to stay somewhere else. On my scale of 1-10 it’s a 3-4 on the noise level but it may be higher for some.

After being on the road for days and sleeping in the car, it was nice to stop at a motel to sleep in a bed and use a hot shower. At first, after attempting to check in, we found out that they don't take discover card ( which per the credit card company, they don't charge for U.S. conversion rates ). The wife and I were about to leave, when the very nice and open hearted employee came outside and wanted to help us. We were able to get a cheaper rate that would not break our bank. The room was nice and cozy. The floor was a bit dirty, but that's what happens when people walk around with their shoes on.

Nice clean, affordable motel right on the main strip. Small lounge across the street for convenience and they're motorcycle friendly Rooms are clean and tidy and its recently taken over by a super friendly couple Loved the showers. I'm a big guy and its nice to be able to move around in the shower. Has a rain shower head which was awesome too We will totally stay here again next time we come through

Since this place is right on the highway I can't say it's a 'hidden' gem but it is a gem nonetheless. The exterior gives the illusion of being in a lodge with beautiful log fencing and well kept floral arrangements. The pool is very clean and refreshing (by this I mean quite cold). The recently renovated rooms are basic but provide everything you would need including a coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge, flat screen tv, air conditioner and free wi-fi.There is even a small closet type area which is nice so you aren't tripping over your luggage. DVD players and a large selection of DVDs are available for rent in the main office. The staff is very friendly and the very affordable price even includes a continental breakfast. The only down side is the noise from the highway, but if I'm ever in the area again I will be staying here.

Great place to stay,the rooms are a little older but very clean. The staff are amazing,I came in late they got me a room and made sure I had everything I need. I ended up coming back the next night after a long all day hike and was upgraded on the room for coming back. I would stay here again and the price can't be beat.

Although not very new it is clean and comfortable. and the staff is friendly and very helpful. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this motel.

We were travelling all day and needed a place to stay for the night and didn't want to spend a small fortune on a room and we read the reviews for this motel so decided to stop in for the night. The room was clean there was everything a traveler could want. The staff went out of there way for us and was very pleasant. I would stay there again and I would recommend this motel if you were looking for a place to lay your head for the night. The price was very reasonably priced. Good value for your money.

Nice clean rooms, had a cozy stay. I like that it was so close to restaurants.
