We chose the "Lazy Flamingo" on Sanibel Island for our early dinner today. When we arrived at 3:45 p.m., we were told that the kitchen closes at 4 p.m. Unfortunately, that's not what the website says. Nevertheless, we were still allowed to place our order. The value for money is absolutely fine! Dining for six people for under 100 euros isn't something you'd expect here.

my husband and i went for lunch after the beach. i was very pleased by our service. everyone was extremely attentive and friendly. shoutout to Bobby! he was very kind and welcoming to us. food was good as well. i got the grilled chicken ceasar salad, and my husband got the fried grouper basket with fries and tartar sauce. we very much enjoyed our lunch here and would go back! they’re doing a great job : )

OPEN FOR BUSINESS! The main restaurant is finally open again and lost none of its charm. The Lazy was always a great Sanibel spot to enjoy cold drinks and a great menu and the new oyster bar should be completed shortly. Can’t wait!

As of March 24, 2025 the physical restaurant is still being rebuilt BUT there is a FOOD TRUCK in the parking lot with a limited menu. Told by my nephew that this food truck food was excellent, on my first visit I ordered the Caesar salad with chicken. Man it did not disappoint! Lots of delicious grilled chicken with an excellent flavor. I will be back!

Grouper basket was great. Kids plates were great, which we all know fall short on quality at most places. Love the atmosphere. Highly recommend.

So, so happy it’s open! Had an amazing lunch to kick off our long weekend on the island. Cold beer, conch fritters, and a fried grouper sandwich complimented by obviously homemade cocktail and tarter sauces were bomb. So good. Can’t wait to return! The restaurant business is a tough one and we wish you all lots of luck!

Google
The best grouper sandwich on the island! We come here every year and it never disappoints.

Yelp
Lazy Flamingo is back and rocking on Sanibel. Service was smiling and fast. The food was exactly what we hoped for. Poppers and chowder to start. I got the wings. Yummy! Grouper sandwich was a hit. Shrimp and chicken fingers were delicious. Must stop by.

Yelp
The coldest beer and friendliest service we've had on Sanibel so far! Cool vibe on the inside and all of the food looked great! We'll be back!

Yelp
After having a horrible experience at the Sanibel Grill, we came to Lazy Flamingo for the first time and felt very welcomed and the food was great. Will return and recommend this restaurant to all my family and friends who visit the island. Than you!!!!

Yelp
Lazy F is loved by many for its affordable seafood offerings. Plus it's another top favorite of ours when our daughter was small- so it was nice to revisit their Sanibel location recently on a Thursday night after getting in town. The design here is the total opposite of those yacht nautical white walls/blues/seashell touches. Flamingo is more about that old nautical sailboat feel with ship wheels, oil lamps and lots of dark, chunky woods. Our 9pm Thursday dinner was nice as was the service. This Lazy F (not sure about all others) only serve beer and wine. Since we were in search of fried oysters, this Lazy F took care of that perfectly. Our conch fritters appetizer had the perfect amount and a nice size too- but they were too floury/doughy with barely any conch in them. Hubs enjoyed his Grouper Tacos and my Grouper Basket had 4 sizable pieces that had a wonderful and light batter- almost similar to a tempuras one. We like the vibe here and our server Sarah was so sweet. Thank you! Just know that when you come to Lazy F, you can almost expect a smorgasbord of seafood to feast on.

Yelp
My husband picked the Lazy Flamingo for dinner. Upon entering, we noticed they have a decent parking lot, and outdoor seating. Once we entered, I felt like we were in an old boat or the crusty crab from Sponge Bob (neither a bad thing, leads to the charm of being at a seafood restaurant). We were promptly seated, brought waters and given menus. First almost all the restaurants we visited were kid friendly. Second almost all the menus had Kraft mac and cheese on the menu. You may wonder why the Mac and cheese reference, well, my kids on a mac and cheese kick. Anyway, I'm on a grouper taco kick, so we're somewhat creatures of habit. Anyway our server was pleasant. I asked for a sample of the Islamorada No Wake Zone beer on tap and was brought a sample. It was crisp, cool, and summery, so I ordered a glass of that. My husband ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, I ordered the grouper tacos, and my kiddo ordered the Mac and cheese. We didn't wait very long. My husband raved about his grilled chicken sandwich, which was HUGE. My son ate all his Mac and cheese. I liked my grouper tacos, but wish they had been warmer. Pros: -variety of items on the menu -cute theme inside -outdoor seating -kid friendly -good grouper tacos Cons: -wish my tacos were warmer Tip: if you're not sure what beer to try; ask for a sample.

Yelp
Lazy Flamingo!! This is a just when visiting Sanibel and Captiva. They have two locations but we prefer and will drive to the original location on Periwinkle. It is much better, better service and the food is just tastier! We are very traditional and know what we like. My favorite is the clam chowder and the steamer pot with all clams. Ok the clam chowder, OMG this is so creamy, delicious, thick and so yummy. It's almost like a sauce it's so good. I've also tried the conch chowder also very good but very spicy. The steamer pot. This is my favorite and I look forward to it all year. It's about 2 dozen steamed clams, in a steamer pot which comes with butter to dip. I think on its own I would be hungry so the soup is a great addition. These clams are so delicious with some old bay I could probably eat a 100. The family also ordered the peel and eat shrimp, coconut shrimp, Buffalo shrimp, and the Caesar salad with blackened salmon. We also ordered the garlic bread with Mariana for $1 extra. Definitely add the Mariana. Every single food item is delicious. We also have had the grouper sandwich, the chicken wings and the fish tacos. This is definitely worth the stop. Food is great, cold beer and lots of tvs to watch the game. They do have food for the non seafood lovers which are so tasty options.

Yelp
Give me a beach vibez restaurant that is serving up casual eats and ice-cold beer, and I will always be a happy gal. Lazy Flamingo is a staple in our Family when we arrive to Sanibel. Why? It's one of the first restaurants you drive past once you get onto the island, and the menu has something for everyone. I've been a dozen times, and it always hits the spot. Most recently, I ordered a half portion of caesar salad with blackened shrimp. The half portion is plenty for lunch. My dad got the grilled grouper sandwich and he loved it. Both of us got beer on draft. I love that they had some local Miami Beers from Veza Sur because #MiamiPride. The service is super friendly, and they have both indoor and outdoor seating.

Yelp
Putting their stamp on business names featuring animals in various states (The Drunken Clam, The Tipsy Cow, The Marauding Octopus, The Lusty Armadillo [you get the gist]) The Lazy Flamingo does justice to this lineage with rockin ice cold beers and a muscular menu. Wifey and I both threw down on the FISH TACOS (of grouper). Crispy, flaky, flavorful, mangoey, and with a nice bitta kick. Props on the rice and black beans too...a lot of lazy flamingo love went into their making. In SoCal it's The Belching Beaver, in Jupiter, FL it's the Thirsty Turtle - and here on Sanibel Is., the Lazy Flamingo wins the prize.

Yelp
Decided on a whim to have lunch here. Meh, I've had better. The place is very easy to find. It was not very busy so we were greeted and seated right away. The Server came to take our orders in a reasonable amount of time. The food arrived hot and as ordered. Kudos to the Hostess and Service for good service. I ordered an appetizer of fried okra because it was not available as a side or substitute for the fries. The okra was good. For appetizer I decided on the 8oz cheese burger - I guess it is an extra charge for cheddar cheese on your cheese burger - with the onion sticks. The burger was just okay. It was cooked as ordered however it was a little bland. The onion sticks were okay, I tasted them but didn't enjoy them enough to eat them. Perhaps ordering seafood would have been better. I probably would not order the burger again if I were to give it another go.

Yelp
I honestly didn't have high expectations when I came in, but I was pleasantly surprised. The servers were friendly and the food arrived fast. The oysters were fresh and the grouper was fried perfectly. The conch chowder tasted like warmed up salsa though. Overall, this place turned out to be pretty solid!

Yelp
The Lazy Flamingo is a Captiva staple and you'll find it on Periwinkle Way. We have been coming for many yeaThe atmosphere here is low key, which is especially great if you're coming straight from the beach. When you enter the restaurant you definitely get the sense of low key. The staff all wearing Lazy Flamingo t-shirts, that they sell to customers. Once we were seated waters and menus were given to us. The menu here is mostly seafood driven. The server came back with 8 mins or so, and we were ready. I ordered the Fresh Grilled Salmon on a 1/2 Caesar Salad( you can order the salmon Mesquite, Blackened, or Jerked. I got it blackened. Also comes w/ Garlic Bread) This is my go to meal. I've gotten the salmon each way they offer, blackened is my favorite. Caesar dressing is made fresh and it's delicious. The salmon is always perfectly cooked. My wife ordered the The Pot(this is 2 dozen select oysters or clams or combo. steamed in beer with special spices. celery and onions, all in their own fresh juices. oysters, clams, combo) This is her go to meal. She says it's a seafood melody. She also ordered a bowl of Clam Chowder (a text book bowl of clam chowder. Warm and creamy. Deliciousness) My mother-in-law ordered Coconut Shrimp Platter w/Fries and Cole Slaw(This is her go to meal. She's always loved the coconut shrimp here) my father in law ordered the Peel & Eat Shrimp(sweetest, pinkest bear-steamed. bouncy prawns served hot with cocktail sauce & lemon) He loves it here. Yes it's peel and eat shrimp however the cocktail sauce just tastes better here. You can't go wrong with this He also ordered a bowl of Conch Chowder( it is delicious at Lazy Flamingo. It has a great spice to it unlike other restaurants on the island) Other seafood items are -Ice Cold Oysters On The Half Shell(They serve them ice cold and juicy) -Clams On The Half Shell(They serve them small, cold and juicy) -Smoked Fish(served with cocktail or tartar sauce & lime) -Conch Fritters(just like hush puppies or clamcakes, but they're chock full of queen conch, diced vegetables. lemon and hot sauce) -Mussels Marinara(It's topped with parmesan cheese. served with flamingo garlic bread) -Clams Marinara(It's topped with parmesan cheese. served with flamingo garlic bread) Fried Shrimp(six plump. pink, breaded prawns, served with fries, cocktail sauce and lemon) -Fried Oysters(fresh select oysters breaded and fried to perfection send with fries, cocktail sauce and lemon) -Grouper Sandwich Mesquite-grilled Or Fried fresh-not frozen-grouper fillet, lettuce, tomato, onion, tartar sauce on a fresh baked bun, served with fries) -Fried Grouper Basket(same great grouper as the sandwich, just a little more grouper and no bun, served with a mound of fries) -Mesquite-grilled Grouper Platter(larger filet of fresh grouper with romaine lettuce. sliced tomato and a side of french fries) -Conch Salad(fresh bahamian queen conch, cracked and marinated in key lime juice, with green pepper, onions. tomato and our own spices) -Caesar Salad(topped with parmesan cheese, and served flamingo garlic bread. 1/2 portions available) -Caesar Salad With Mesquite-grilled Grouper (grilled grouper, served with flamingo garlic bread. 1/2 portions available) *the Caesar salad is an award winner on the island* -Your Catch(your fresh fish. you catch it, you filet it, you clean it, they cook it - blackened, grilled, mesquite grilled, or fried. sandwich or platter comes with all the trimmings and fries. max. 10 oz. per order) Other items in the menu for meat eaters -Big Burger Burger(8 oz. ground sirloin char-grilled, dressed with tomato, lettuce, onion, pickles, mayonnaise, and our special sauce on a fresh bun, served with fries) -Steak Sandwich(done to your liking with our own special sauce. 6 oz. of top beef, with lettuce. tomato, onion. served with fries) -Mesquite-grilled Ribs(grilled to perfection with our own special seasoning and served with coleslaw and fries. bbq sauce, if you must) -Mesquite-grilled Chicken Breast Sandwich(boneless, skinless, plump and juicy with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mayonnaise, our special sauce, on a fresh baked roll, sewed with fries) -Fried Chicken Tenders Sandwich (chicken tenders fried to perfection and served on a bun with all the trimmings and fries) -Fried Pork Tenderloin Sandwich (11am - 4pm only Served w/Fries and Cole Slaw) -Buffalo Wings(mild or hot. with celery and bleu cheese - the very best) Dead Parrot Wings(They call them that because they're so hot they could ralse the dead! with celery and blue cheese (order at your own risk) (very, very hot!) -Teriyaki Wings(Chinese style - sweet and tart with celery and bleu cheese) -Teri-hot Wings(dipped in our teri-hot sauce & celery and bleu cheese) We loved the Lazy Flamingo and we will always return here every year. Yelp
Nice small outdoor patio with fans. Inside decor is bar style. Got seated very quickly. Service excellent. Our table had grilled and fried Grouper and we all decided the fried was better. My be best grouper in Florida so far!! No sauce or lemon needed!!! I had fried oysters 10/10. The oyster breading not too heavy and the oysters are very flavorful we all agreed they are excellent. My sister had the hot wings and they are VERY good. Not so spicy they ruin your appetite but perfect with a cold beer. The hot Buffalo wings are a large portion of tangy, crunchy, juicy wings. Calamari was flavorful and tender Highly recommend this place. Only down side is no hard alcohol.

Yelp
Periwinkle Location, Sanibel. Pretty good spot for a Thursday night. No sunset views from restaurant so don't get your hopes up. Staff was good but nothing amazing. House Pinot Grigio ordered - pass on it. Too sweet for a dry white. Red Sangria- surprisingly really good. Not juicy but balanced with wine flavors and citrus notes! Half dozen oysters raw were excellent! They were fresh and flavorful. Not too briny but they were vibrant in flavor. Wish I or the server knew where they were firm- I'd get these again! Conch (Konk) fritters were quite good too. A little greasy for my personal preference but that's just a shake or two needed after removal from the fryer. Entrees were the grilled grouper platter (so darn good) and the grouper bites with Caesar salad. The grouper is just where it's at. It's fresh, firm, flavorful and fantastic! Seasoned fries come with it and no bun. Chose my carbs wisely- fries over bun. Slice of onion, tomato and lettuce accompanied the platter as well as coleslaw and a really good white dipping sauce. The grouper bites were the Lazy Flamingo's take on bang bang bites. Spicy Mayo sauce that was squeezed on bites made for a better experience than ones that are tossed in the Mayo. Well done there! Caesar was awesome- dressing enough but not soupy. And a half portion is HUGE! Like think head of romaine big! Yummy! All together great! We will be back!

Yelp
Teetering on a 3 vs 4 rating. The food was ok. The vibe feels a little dated. But it was easy & casual & what I suspect many want at the beach. Lots of rave reviews for the fish tacos but in my opinion, they were only ok. They were cooked well but, I may be a little spoiled in Houston. We have some crazy mad fish tacos here. (Honestly the fish itself is fresher in Florida but the flavor profile better in Houston - if only they could combine the two!) They will cook your catch & I would trust them to do it well. If I recall correctly, the prices listed online didn't match the menu on site - not a huge issue but rather that a $10 cheeseburger (super reasonable), it was a mid range price for the burger.

Yelp
Great lunch and dinner spot on the island. Nautical decor with dark wood inside, with out door seating as well. Some of the best wings on Sanibel. The Terri-hot wings provide a good balance of heat with flavor. The dead parrot wings are serious heat. One long-time local claims their mesquite grilled grouper is best on the island. 5* = incredible (rare) 4* = very good/ strong desire to return 3* = generally good experience 2* = poor/ no desire to return 1* = a particularly awful experience

Yelp
We enjoyed our dinner at Lazy Flamingo but I was looking for something more than deep fried or spiced seafood but the few people I talked to that raved about it. Sure they have a great bar and the atmosphere is cool but "food" was what I was looking for. I ended up getting the deep fried oysters which were delicious! (Since I had to order fried or spicy) just expected broiled or grilled and more seafood to choose from. Disappointed. I guess great for families who like fried foods. My husband got the Mussels in Marinara sauce which I didn't like, he did. The Service was outstanding though!!! I rate the food more so since it's a restaurant. The Conch Fritters appetizer were ok, just not into an over abundance of fried foods. Lots of onions, garlic. Tastey if you like that.

Yelp
Every time I go home, I go here or to the Captiva location. I almost always get their hot wings because they have some of the best wings. I love the colorful building and the picturesque walkway into the restaurant. It's a raw bar too, but I don't do oysters. It's a fun dive bar feel.

Yelp
Very nice place, wonderful staff and clean. Inside and outside dining. Plenty of parking. I had the grouper platter and it was very good. I ordered a house salad first and I wish I wouldn't have, the salad was huge. Salad was amazingly fresh. My wife got the dinner Caesar salad and she said she enjoyed it and it was also a huge portion. Sorry no pictures of the meal plates I always forget! I have one petty complaint and that's the plastic utensils, hate using them. Tough to stab a croton with them!
google avatar

Cassie M.

Yelp
A Sanibel staple and for good reason. Casual, tasty, friendly service, and plenty of seafood offerings. I had the Caesar salad with mesquite-grilled grouper, my mom had the Caesar with blackened salmon, and my dad the "big burger" burger. Even the accompanying fries and garlic bread were worth their carbs. We were all completely satisfied and not a crumb remained. We did have to wait 20-30 minutes for a table, but I lost track of the wait because we got beers at the bar while waiting and my dad and I were completely absorbed in the Duke v UNC basketball game. The multiple tvs around the bar and periphery also had other games showing for basketball, hockey, and UFC, so if you're looking for a sports bar on the island, this might be your place for that as well.
google avatar

Jose T.

Yelp
I have been coming here for over 30 years and I just realized I never reviewed it. I'll start by saying we come to Sanibel yearly over 30 years. This where we always come for our first night on the island and at least one more time. It's usually really hopping but his year there is the worst red tide I have ever seen and it's about half full. Usually it's packed but the service is always friendly and efficient. The draft beer is so cheap you may think you are in South America. If you are a beer person they have quite few Florida breweries on draft along with the usual suspects (Stella, blue moon shock top etc ) and a ton of bottlea lThe decor is very cool with old wood paneling everywhere including the tables, walls roof and floors. If anyone had been to Covadonga on bird road in MIAMI they flat out stoke the interior design but not service or food The real reason to come here is the food. It's always too notch. They make one of the best New England clam chowders and their crunchy grouper is a perfect dish, fresh plump fish with a crispy not greasy breading. Excellent oysters and all sorts of fresh fish and Shrimp. There are two I prefer the one on periwinkle but both are very cool.

Yelp
Restaurant close to Periwinkle Way. Easy access to the restaurant just off the bridge and you don't need travel to town center and avoid majority of island traffic. Great for quick lunch. The menu is pink and same as flamingo color. We started with the smoke fish appetizer to share. It has grill smoke flavor. It was great to go with the crackers and the cocktail sauce. I have the mesquite grilled grouper and my friend has the fried oyster. I like my Grouper. This is the first time have it mesquite way. The grouper to with some mesquite sweet sauce and grilled over flame. Very good. Love it. My friend oyster also good. Our food did not take long to come out after order. Chef has great skill. Food definitely 5 stars. The service is a bit slow at begin. I definitely take a lazy visit next if I am here.

Yelp
We chose to dine at the Lazy Flamingo since it is a kid friendly restaurant on Sanibel Island. I was really disappointed to see that most of the employees were not wearing masks inside the restaurant. All of the other restaurants in Sanibel have been taking extra precautions so I didn't expect multiple employees to greet us and approach our table without a mask. If my boys weren't starving and on the verge of a meltdown I probably would have chosen to dine elsewhere. We ordered the raw oysters and hot wings as appetizers. The wings were huge and dripping in spicy buffalo sauce; definitely would order them again. My fried shrimp platter was just average. The shrimp were huge, but slightly overcooked and the coleslaw was swimming in mayonnaise. The seasoned fries were the highlight on my plate. Luckily the kids meals were really good and the meals are served on a cute souvenir frisbee. This wasn't my favorite meal on Sanibel Island, but I have two little boys that don't enjoy sitting quietly in fancy restaurants so I would probably return to the Lazy Flamingo next time we visit Sanibel Island.

Yelp
Honestly every time we try this restaurant we ask ourselves why we went there. Service is decent, but the food is just not that good. See picture below for Shrimp Jammers, which look completely abysmal and forlorn. kind of disgusting to eat too. Buffalo wings were however pretty good. A mixed bag for sure.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is one of the crazier finds on Sanibel Island. A popular tourist spot off Fort Myers, Sanibel is a slow placed island during the busy season that has a crazy amount of tourists. We brought the kids here at the end of our vacation and were surprised how busy it was. My wife found this place looking for fun places for kids that had good food. He wait was 30 minutes but your options are few on Sanibel and many places are $$$ minimum. You can order drinks and wait outside with them and they will transfer to your tab. The inside of this place is a funky old school bar that is no frills and has a fun but in your face east coast feel. We got seated and had heard the fritters were good so we started with them and ordered the kids food. We wanted to try the grouper and another item so settled on a salad, burger and the grouper plate. The food was really good, the host placed the classic flamingo hat and visited our girls and overall it was a memorable place to bring the family!
google avatar

Susan D.

Yelp
A traditional first stop after the long ride to Sanibel. The atmosphere and crowd are casual and happy. The over the top nautical decor is tacky perfection. Nothing fancy or pretentious here. You know it's time to have some fun. The food is currently just OK. Quite unmemorable. The French Fries were the highlight. They were smoking hot and delicious. It's beer and wine only from the bar. Enough beer to chose from, but the wine list is very limited. Steer clear of the house wine. It's not good. Our wonderful server was happy to bring me another glass of his favorite wine. So much better. Our service overall was fantastic. Not one issue or complaint. Hoping Lazy Flamingo Two is just having a rough patch and the food gets better. It's always been a great place for our first stop.

Yelp
The best oysters in the area. Try their shrimps too, they soak them in the beer for 24 hrs before cooking( can be served hot or cold on ice) Cold beer!!! Fish taco, clam chowder were scrumptious !!!! Quick and good service. It's was dogs friendly if you tell them , that your pooch is a service dog( no papers asked) Would repeat it again. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Went here after an afternoon at the beach. Easy to get into but hard to get out due to traffic. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. We sat indoors and were seated right away. Staff was friendly. We ordered the calamari as the appetizer and loved it. When our entrees came out, it didnt measure up to the appetizer; just OK. They also dont serve mixed drinks, just beer and wine.

Yelp
So I've been to the lazy flamingo in Bookelia several times and it's always great. I was in Sanibel and decided to stop by this location...it was amazing!! We ordered the smoke fish as an appetizer. It was Salmon, I don't really care for salmon but this was cooked amazing. Everybody at the table couldn't get enough. For an entree I ordered the blackened grouper sandwich. The fish was super fresh and cooked perfectly. If you ever looking for an awesome meal stop by the lazy flamingo. They don't disappoint.

Yelp
After spending much of the day at the beach, I was ready for a bite to eat, some A/C and something cool and refreshing to drink so mostly out of convenience decided to try out a place where the sign states "locals hang out here". After a very friendly and very professional greeting we found a booth two steps from the front door and immediately ordered two unsweetened iced teas without lemon - the drinks arrived fairly quickly, after tossing the lemons I began to scan the menu whoa... first impression the menu is very limited and pricey so I doubt many locals hang. Trying to play it safe I basically closed my eyes and picked two appetizers to snack on not wanting eat too heavy or spend a hundred bucks a few hours before dinner on something I felt would be disappointing after reviewing the choices, after spending only a few minutes here I just wanted to escape this tourist trap. In my opinion the fresh grouper bites were pitiful little trimmings that smelled fishy and tasted old I understand now why they prefer to toss these in a sauce to mask the flavor, we ordered them with the sauce on the side and wish I hadn't yuck - we also ordered the buffalo shrimp that were swimming in sauce oh yea this was a great idea the sauce was so hot I have no idea what the shrimp looked like or how they tasted - both tiny disappointing portions and the two iced tea $35.00 with a respectable tip...

Yelp
We visited the Lazy Flamingo and were able to sit outside. There was no wait, and we were seated quickly. The outdoor patio seemed Covid safe and we were glad we were able to sit there. Service was great, everyone was very friendly. Our food came out very quickly, and it was great. Large portions, and they give you plastic, disposable silverware which is nice during this time.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to hang out, have a pitcher of ice cold beer and some fresh seafood on their patio. Service is very friendly and welcoming. What we ate: Peel and eat shrimps, conch Fritters, raw oysters on the half shell, Mesquite-Grilled grouper platter
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
Yum yum yum! So good. First we had the conch fritters. These were good. Perfectly fried with tons of conch. It was crispy and not very "bready ". Then we had a dozen oysters. Fresh flavor and comes with horseradish and a great cocktail sauce. I had the grouper taco. Excellent. Full of fish and perfectly topped. Yum. The wife had the grilled grouper sandwich. The roll, the fish.....Butta. So good. The adult son had their chicken wings. Perfectly crisp and nailed the spiciness. The side blue cheese and ranch were perfect. The daughter-in-law had the grouper tenders. Again, excellent. Great place for lunch. Go there!!!
google avatar

Todd B.

Yelp
We stopped in for a quick lunch. The server was very polite and the food tastes good. The food was presented in a shell dish which is appropriate for Sanibel. I would recommend you stop in and try the Lazy Flamingo. You'll get that island feel.

Yelp
Let's get to the sea food; Stone crab: not as good as Cabbage Key but always a treat, the mustard sauce was bare bones simple with limited effort Shrimp: hard to mess up Grouper: really good piece of fish, not the best bun Fried oysters: super delicious best I've had in Sanibel Garlic bread: butter + bread + garlic (duh) Marinara (for bread): fresh made with big chunks of wonderful ness Beer: sure Enjoy!!! Review done.

Yelp
This place has a great chill vibe and really has the coldest beer! We enjoyed our experience

Yelp
The place has a bar kind of environment. Looks like it would be great for groups and for happy hour. The outside area is nice but very small. Not too much of a view but really great weather permitting! Now to the food. Food was good, not great. The grouper basket was a little dry but there was a lot of food in it. Can definitely be shared. The boom boom fried shrimp was delicious, also a dish that can be shared. The sauce was really great. The ceasar salad was also really good, great portions. The garlic bread was a really nice touch with the salad. Plenty of parking, close to other great restaurants. This is a place you'd want to stop by for a quick bite to eat if you're heading out of Sanibel or heading back in.

Yelp
From my perspective this is the best and consistent restaurant on Pine Island. Sure Tarpon lodge is fancier and a more complex menu but LF is more consistent in flavor and experience. Best oysters on the island well!! Eric and team treat you like family with the right level of interaction. I also love the fact that for 5 yers I have always got an icy mug with every beer!!

Yelp
Went for dinner a couple nights while in Sanibel. The staff is very friendly. The bar is a great place to sit for two. No mixed drinks, just beer and wine. I had a tuna steak, which was not great and over cooked. The clam chowder is amazing. The oysters are best priced on the island. I would stick with oysters and maybe some fritters.

Yelp
Some word of advice before you keep reading. If you do decide to go and eat at this place, check your drinks. Some of our drinks had a long strand of blonde hair in it, and some of us didn't find it until we were almost done with it. It was kind of disgusting and we tried to inform the waitress, but was practically ignored. LAZY is probably the best way of decribing this place. When doing some research of this place we did notice that this was a bar-like place and not a restaurant. Well we were ok with it, but when we started to get served with plastic mini plates to use and plastic utensils, but no other bowls except for the seashell shaped bowls. This is definitely not a place to go to order family style. The food here is definitely bar level food and sometimes the description of the food is deceiving. Some advice here...if you ever see conch in there and want to eat conchs, well you will be disappointed. We ordered the conch chowder and conch fritters. Those two dishes claim there is conch in them, but when we ate them there wasn't any conch to be seen or taste and trust me we all know what conch look and taste like...we're all from a tropical island where we get it all year round. The clam chowder that we order was a bit on the thicker side. I like it. It was very flavorful. The fried shrimp was delicious but very pricey for only 6 shrimp. Totally not worth it. The boiled shrimp we got was alright. There was too much of the Cajun powder on it. The oyster was decent. Some of them was opened so rough and I don't even think some of the oysters were big enough to be eaten. One of the best thing to have here is the garlic bread. It is very super delicious. ESP with the marinara sauce. This is probably the only thing that we ordered that we felt was worth our money. Service here for us was horrible. We just got our order taken and food brought in to us. There was nothing else that made the experience good. We practically sat in a booth that was invisible after all the food came. The waitress never came by to see if we were good. We had to practically flail our hands and maybe do some kind of smoke signals to get some water refills. Totally didn't worth coming here and won't be coming back

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch on the way from Point Ybel as we've had a good experience there from pre-COVID time. I saw that I could get the grouper basket mesquite grilled rather than fried. What they did to that fish was absolutely outrageous...outrageously good!! The grouped came out hot with a delicious Smokey mesquite flavor. It was moist and flaky oh so good. They served with a house made tarter sauce that is not your typical tarter sauce, it was quite tasty as well. Just me, but I think the tartar sauce would be good on the fried grouper, but the mesquite grilled grouper needs nothing else. The tarter sauce just covers up the great mesquite flavor. I got mine with coleslaw and fries. Both lived up to the flavor expectations set by the grouper. The slaw was a creamy style, but with enough dressing so you knew it was there but not drenched and nice crunchy cabbage. The fries were nice and crisp on the outside, the seemed to be very lightly breaded, and moist on the inside. In addition to great food, service was prompt and our server was very pleasant and attentive. Great place for seafood, don't miss it next time you're on the island!

Yelp
Very casual place. They have plastic utensils, and it has a lot of tvs around the bar. You'll find something to eat no matter what here. We've been to two of these locations several times, and we haven't been disappointed. What's really cool about this place is they cook your freshly caught fish if you clean it and bring it in. We always get the grouper bites and oysters. Their clam chowder was great, and their caesars are standard. They come with garlic bread, which is delicious.

Yelp
Great food. Excellent service. We had fried grouper and jammers! The jammers were delicious!

Yelp
When you visit the beach, you always want to explore the local options to get some fresh seafood. When my family and I ate out during our last visit to Sanibel, we explored the variety of restaurant options and found this place pretty close to where we were staying. We hadn't visited on previous vacations but finally decided to grab a bite here. The restaurant was consistent with what you'd expect from one near the beach. We dined early, about 5:15 since we had an infant in our party and seemed to beat the crowd. I got to order the blackened shrimp platter from the specials menu and was thoroughly filled; it had just the right amount of spiciness and was an excellent choice for dinner that night! Service was good even with a large party and everyone enjoyed their food. Don't overlook this place next time you come into Sanibel, just come early to beat the crowds! I think we might become regulars while in Sanibel.

Yelp
Busy restaurant but we were sat quickly. My husband & I both had a chicken Caesar salad. The half portion is huge & the garlic bread that comes with the salad is delicious. The kids pasta is a large portion, comes with garlic bread, Oreos & a frisbee. The key lime pie is a little tart but I like it that way. Staff was nice & attentive.

Yelp
Very different place! They coined that phrase "lazy" for a reason...a bit loud but nice relaxing restaurant...the three of us all enjoyed our meals. We have been here before and will continue to visit every time we vacation at South Seas Resort.

Yelp
Wow!! Been coming here for over 25 years. Great food and service. They allow substitutions which is awesome. Can't believe the owners haven't claimed this business on Yelp! Come on guys - join the party! Jordan was an outstanding waitress - she was very helpful and attentive. Started with a lot of steamed clams. Totally awesome salon summer salad! Coconut shrimp were also fantastic.

Yelp
This is a very difficult review to write, but I must. I have eaten at Lazy for decades and the food has always been good and the staff providing acceptable service (its a raw bar so a low 'bar' there). I have always counted on Lazy as the place you can go when all others are closed, as was the case last night. Their posted hours are open until 10pm. Apparently not though. Last night our part of 4 walked in at 9:40pm on a Friday night and were greeted by a member of the staff who was clearly annoyed that we were there. She intimated that the kitchen was closing - understandable as it was 15 minutes or so before 10pm. Immediately after being seated she came to take our order and advised us that the kitchen had actually already been shut down. BTW, the place was not empty...there were at least 6 tables of people, so it wasn't like it was a slow night. I've been around restaurants all my life and know that once the kitchen starts to shut down you are NOT to have a good experience. We left very angry as now there was NOWHERE on the island open to eat. The issue here is more than a kitchen deciding to close early. The problem is that Lazy clearly doesn't care about its customers and puts its staff desires ahead of the customer. Worse, the customer-facing staff member with whom we interacted clearly resented our presence. Indicative of absentee and/or apathetic management. When that happens, you can bet a lot of other things are not up to snuff either. Sorry Lazy, after decades of patronizing your establishment I won't be back for a long time...and all the people who come to me for recommendations about where to go/eat on the island won't be hearing your name as a "go to" for a late night meal. Sloppy and "Lazy" in the worst way.

Yelp
The service and the food were excellent --the only thing I got a picture of were the raw oysters but all of the food was delicious. Their oysters also seemed to be the best value compared to other places on the island. Lazy Flamingo is such a staple in Sanibel and it's easy to see why, definitely be sure to check it out!

Yelp
Lazy flamingo never disappoints! Great food and atmosphere!! Just remember the Coca Cola tastes weird everywhere on the island hah!
