Google
It’s an amazing wine bar in Bordeaux. Would say the best to try many wines from the region and in a very affordable price! It has wines for everyone , even for people who prefer sweet wines. It’s a must try and the bar is beautiful decorated and spacious

Google
Simply the place to be in Bordeaux! The selection of wine is outstanding! The grand cru wines are so affordable and so tasty. They are regularly changed on the menu and each time I come to Bordeaux I discover more amazing wines. There are different types of wine of Bordeaux region: bubbles, white, rose and of course a loooot of wonderful famous red wines. There are cheese or cold cuts platters with very tasty bread. All in all this is a perfect place for discovering the rich heritage of Bordeaux wine region 🍷

Google
Interesting place! Had no idea what to expect from the outside - looked like a hotel lobby. But service was pleasant, drinks decent and the mosaic windows were nice. Only downside (perhaps personal preference) is it being very white and bright which didn’t really give that ‘wine bar’ feel.

Google
Really nice spot in the centre of Bordeaux with a great selection of wines by the glass. The foie gras as well was excellent, and the merlot salt with it was a great addition. Highly recommended.

Google
Le Bar à Vin in Bordeaux is a gem for wine enthusiasts! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed afternoon or evening out. Their wine selection by the glass is impressive, catering to all tastes and budgets. Prices start at just 2.5 EUR per glass, the most expensive option is 12 EUR. Whether you're a seasoned wine lover or just looking to enjoy a good glass in a nice setting, Le Bar à Vin is definitely worth a visit!

Moments in Love

Google
Arrogant people there. (Yes, these kinds of people still exist) It was one of the worst experiences of my 25+ years of traveling. The guy there, it seems he is not able to speak to the customers. When I asked a question, he ignored me and gestured to another server, doing the same thing several times in a very short period. Is this place really run by the School of Wine de Bordeaux? The wine list is miserable, and the prices are just as high as other wine bars in the heart of Bordeaux. I was recommended this place by the 프랑스와요 YouTube channel, and I immediately unsubscribed them. It’s just a place that looks fancy.

Google
Very well the wait. We tried to get in yesterday when it was public holiday but closed. Managed to get in today, love the limited but thoughtful selection is food to go with the wonderful selection of regional wine. The price is very reasonable

We had a great time at Le bar a Vin - Bordeaux. Okley and Kareena are very helpful and provided Bordeaux Wine information. Great atmosphere and we enjoyed the wine with Chocolates.

Yelp
Wonderful place to try out a glass (or 4) of different wines while in Bordeaux! They spoke fluent English and were very kind when I tried my best at French. The decor is gorgeous, and made for a lovely evening. We also had a few of their small plates, which were filling enough that they were our dinner.

Anita M.

Yelp
Service was attentive and it was easy to communicate as everyone I spoke to used English with me. They offer a number of wines by the glass and will serve a half glass which I utilized in order to taste a larger variety. They have both left bank and right bank wines as well as white and red and rose options. Some limited food items also are available.

Alexandra F.

Yelp
A must when visiting Bordeaux! The line can at times be a bit of a wait, but well worth it! This place is supplemented by the government, and allows patrons to taste many wines at a fraction of the cost elsewhere. Option for half tastes as well!

Bama G.

Yelp
Don't even bother. You will stand in line forever to be ignored. Have the woman come up to finally see the man in front of you, and then go back to polishing glasses behind the door, while there is a line of people outside. I don't care how pretty it is, I don't care how cheap the glasses of wine are, this is the rudest bunch of assholes ever.

K B.

Yelp
Super fun! Great price! Glad we went! Small wait but worth the line. Had drinks and snacks.

K M.

Yelp
Upon a suggestion, we were among the first to arrive at this beautiful, friendly and reasonably priced spot for a glass of excellent regional wines and an appetizer. The interior is expansive and airy. The wines are delicious and more than reasonably priced. Our goat cheese platter was divine, and each associate was kind, helpful, forgiving of my broken French and unfailingly patient. Loved this establishment!

Yelp
I don't think I could ever say enough great things about Le Bar a Vin du CIVB. We had a hard time finding the front entrance to the bar, as there are a few doors. The big wooden door was the correct entrance. The staff were very friendly. Everyone we encountered spoke wonderful English and smiled at our terrible French. They were all so nice! We were told to have a seat where ever we pleased. The bartender was our server. He was wonderful. He explained the menu and went over some wines with us. We decided to let me make a tasting for us and choose everything. He was more than thrilled to do this for us! We sampled 8 wines all with very generous pours. We were shocked when the bill came and it was only 21 euros! This is an excellent stop for anyone. Whether you are new to learning about wine or you're an experienced wine drinker, this is a really great place for tastings.

Martine K.

Yelp
What a find thanks to our tour guide Emma. We came in for a drink and it's beautiful inside. We tried the sparkling wine and at 3 euros it was quite a deal (and a nice pour). It was so refreshing and cold seed wished we'r head note rtine for another glass. Server was helpful and friendly. They do not sell bottles of wines here or we would have left with a case! Definitely hit this spot if you are in Bordeaux!

Louisa M.

Yelp
Le Bar à Vin du CIVB is a welcoming, modern wine bar in the heart of Bordeaux. This is a very popular spot that fills up quickly, and reservations are not accepted. The wine bar has several doors and we mistakenly entered through the back door. It was confusing but the staff members were very friendly. Note that they speak decent English here too, which means the wine bar attracts a mix of both tourists and locals. Go as early as possible. We arrived slightly after 4:30 p.m. and it was packed, we had to share a table with two unhappy local young women (you know, with us being "stupid Americans" and all). The atmosphere is fine but not exactly intimate. It's a very large room with high ceilings and it can get a little loud (not by U.S. standards though). The seating is uncomfortable in what I can only assume is an attempt by management to discourage lingering. We weren't rushed at all, however, which I appreciated. After a wait of about 10 minutes, a server approached us to take our order. We had several questions and bowed to his expertise. We sampled several wines and a cheese plate. The wine bar features a small menu of gourmet accoutrements including a nice selection of local and European cheeses, a platter of chocolates, dried beef, and the ubiquitous dish that's a huge delicacy in this part of France: foie gras. The prices of the food plates are reasonable considering the large portions (they range from 6 to 9 euros). We selected the Assiette sans Frontieres (the Plate Without Borders), which featured a tasty assortment of cheese from all over the region, including a raw milk Emmental from the Basque country (savory and mild), Gruyère de Comté (nutty, semi-hard and absolutely delicious), and Basque ewe cheese (from grass fed mountain sheep). The platter was served with a generous helping of hearty, crusty brown bread. Unlike other reviewers, I found this bread to be average at best. There are far better breads available at a number of local boulangeries in the area. The wines by the glass menu is organized by region, including Saint-Emilion, Pomerol, Fronsac, Medoc, Graves, and more. We selected a 2013 Château Haut Breton Larigaudière from Margaux (6 euros), a 2014 Chateau Pipeau Saint Emilion Grand Cru (6 euros), and at the suggestion of our server, a 2010 Chateau Le Crock from Saint-Estephe (6 euros) and a 2013 Chateau Julia from Pauillac (6 euros). The wines were good and all very different, and the prices were on point. They had wines by the glass to fit every budget, with some in the 3 euro range. The pours were large as well, making this an excellent value. I was super disappointed because I was unaware that they also have champagne by the glass. It wasn't listed on the menu but they serve it at the bar. If sparkling's your thing, be sure to ask! I wish I had!

Yelp
This wine bar is awesome. Really inexpensive glasses of generous pour wine. The people working here are experts on the wines they carry and are more than willing to help you choose something you will like or recommend something for you. I was actually given a sequence of things I should try based on what I started with. They speak English and are really professional and approachable. Everything I had was superb. There are lots of quaint little seating areas of all types where you can be comfortable by yourself, with a date, or with a group of friends. I tried to come back here after going on a wine tasting tour, but it was closed b/c of a holiday. I was looking forward to a return visit and was disappointed it was closed. Definitely come here and at least have a glass. Glasses start at 2 euros and I think top out at 7 or 8 euros.

Geoffrey C.

Yelp
4.5-stars - an excellent spot to taste wine in Bordeaux -- the menu consists of fairly inexpensive (and generous) pours of lesser known Château from the various Bordeaux appellations, proving an excellent overview of wine types and styles. The bar can be busy at peak times (lunch/dinner), and could certainly benefit from better ventilation. Nonetheless, highly recommended.

Yelp
The cutest, best wine bar in all Bordeaux! This place has amazing prices, a great selection of local wines and friendly and knowledgeable staff. It's a really well decorated interior and nice vibe inside. We intended to just try a glass or two but stayed for more with a chocolate pairing. We wanted to go back but it was closed on the weekend sadly. Definitely worth a visit!

Jeanie N.

Yelp
Great place for wine and cheese. The place is kind of split into two halves - one more traditional seating and dining area and another that's super modern furniture - great for groups (of up to ~8) - and more chill to sip wine and eat cheese. The wine by the glass here is cheap! You are in Bordeaux though where they probably get most of their supply. The cheese is tasty, obviously, and cheese plates come with 2 types of bread. We had a traditional baguette as well as a seedy-cranberry bread. The bread was good, but not the best bread I've had/not super memorable. Definitely would come back - great place to go before (and after!) dinner

Diana N.

Yelp
Extremely affordable and great wine bar. I came here before dinner and had a lovely time sitting and sampling some wine. Expect 2-6 euros for a glass. It is so affordable due to being on the ground floor near the Bordeaux wine council. There are reds, whites, sparkling wine, and rose, and the wines change frequently. You may also share small plates - I got the charcuterie and it was Devine. Please don't make my mistake and not visit the back room with the beautiful Roman inspired architecture.

Sandrine L.

Yelp
Super endroit, tout était parfait. Une excellente adresse, accueil et service impeccable.

Sydney W.

Yelp
This was amazing! Me and my friends were only staying in Bordeaux for three days and we found ourselves back here twice. You really can't beat the price and the flavor. All three of us had three glasses each and we shared the chocolate assortment and our bill came out to only 30 euros! The wine was excellent and it was amazing to get to try quite an assortment at such a low cost. Best place we visited in Bordeaux!

Ania P.

Yelp
Perfect! Simply delicious! Wine, cheese, bred! Moreover it's not expensive! What else? :)

Tati V.

Yelp
I had the best experience here a few months back. One of my professors at the University of Bordeaux actually recommended it back in August when I first arrived but I never went. Before my friends went back to the US we decided to spend an afternoon here to wine taste. We got to try four different wines along with chocolate all for 30 euros in total. WHAT. A. STEAL. Each glass ranges from 2 to 6 euros but they are very generous with their pours. I was definitely wine drunk after four full glasses. Recommend if you're visiting in Bordeaux and want to try some local wines or just hang out somewhere other than a brasserie.

Jason F.

Yelp
Excellent wine selection at reasonable prices. The bartenders were able to speak English and offer tasting notes on each wine. The inside is not dark and dimly lit like most bars. It's bright with lots of stained glass windows, which was a nice change allowing you to actually see what you're drinking. I would definitely recommend!

Amanda K.

Yelp
Amazing experience. The wine, of course, was phenomenal. The cheese and bread, to die for. The wait is long but worth it. The prices are also, somehow, surprisingly low. A great find!

Mark C.

Yelp
Great time, great people. The staff took all the necessary time to help us select the best wines, and then even more time to educate us about the wines we chose. It was a great way to wrap up our visit.

Tom L.

Yelp
Great wine selection, and we would have enjoyed trying a few, but it took a full hour between delivery of first glass and time for us to find a waiter to order another. Service was horrible. Place was full but I only saw 2 waiters for the entire place. We ordered a charcuterie plate and it was tasty.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Fantastic service. We saw our server Auriel twice in our stay there and he was helpful and nice to us. There was also another young server that provided us with Bordeaux booklets with info on the city. The food was great and the wine was even better. Definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Bordeaux!!

M B.

Yelp
Excellent...beautiful room..lovely wine..good recommendations... cheese plates...chocolate plate. What more could you want ? Good service? They have that! Pricing is great, pours are generous.

Donald L.

Yelp
A shrine to wine in downtown Bordeaux. Great selection, inexpensive and the most knowledgeable bartenders you will ever find. It is a little unclear how what to do when you arrive but if you don't see anyone just wander into the back where you will find a staffed bar.

Sarah P.

Yelp
Fantastic location and great selection of wine at reasonable prices. Great advice from waiting staff also :)

Brandon C.

Yelp
Happened to find this place near the tourist office. During the afternoon, it was not very busy. A group of friends decided to take a chance on the bar. Well, the bartenders were helpful and professional. The wine selection was amazing, and the prices surprised me a bit, in a good way. While the atmosphere seems a bit fussy or grand, it is really a choice spot to enjoy wine.

GL K.

Yelp
Why isn't good domestic wine cheap in the states? Because it sure is at this place. We arrived before the line formed, which was nice (get there early). We had a cheese plate and a few glasses (cremant at 3.75 Euros, yes I will in fact have another glass, please). It's a big open room, plenty of friendly staff, and dog friendly as well. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

Roshan L.

Yelp
Incredible wine to taste. We went here several times while in Bordeaux and absolutely loved it.

Kaylyn G.

Yelp
The wine bar is my favorite place in the world. Prepare to wait in line if you come around dinner time, but it's worth it (if you want to avoid the line come earlier in the day or around 8-9pm). The wine is incredible and affordable (the most expensive class is 8 euro and you can order the cheapest half glass for 1 euro). You can order half glasses if you want to try a wide variety (or are a light weight) and all of the staff speaks English and give thoughtful advice on what to order. The menu changes every two weeks but always features a wide variety of champagne, desert wine, rosé, and reds. The cheese plate is the perfect pairing and the chocolate plate while small is worth the splurge

Megan B.

Yelp
So-So, not quite as wonderful as past reviews have noted. In the center of town and easily accessible via public transportation. Sophisticated space. However the service was so-so as the waiter seemed perturbed to describe the wines to us plus forgot to order our food.

Sha W.

Yelp
Two visits so far in my two days in Bordeaux. Cannot speak highly enough of Bar à Vins. The staff is friendly, amiable, knowledgable. The prices are to die for. You can order half glasses, if you're a sprite (like me). The line at 18h is maybe 25 minutes, but at 20h, no line. If you are fortunate enough to travel solo, and if you get stuck in line, mention to a passing staffer that your are "seule" and they might be able to squeeze you in at the bar which, honestly, is where you want to be anyways. I'm something of a debutante and they made me feel right at home. This place is my ideal for Bordeaux. I'll be back tomorrow!

Kevin B.

Yelp
This was a great find in Bordeaux. Guillemin was an excellent sommelier and made excellent recommendations based upon what we were looking for. Not only is this place a non-touristy, non-pretentious wine bar, it is a virtual tour around the wine regions of Bordeaux at a most economical spend. The cheeses were excellent too, and paired very well with our wine. Most recommended.
