We were near Montparnasse and wanted a simple dinner, so we came here.
It's a very no frills place. It started out stuffy indoors (typical for Paris), but eventually they turned on the AC, which helped.
Wines are cheap. The 25 cl and 50 cl options are a better value than the glasses. I had a cote du Rhône villages and a cote du bourge, both of which were ok, but at their prices, you can't really complain.
Food -
- Crudite: shredded carrots, shredded celery root, tomatoes, cucumbers, and diced beets - they ended up putting a creamy white dressing on it. Had I known, I would have asked for it on the side
- Jambon de Bayonne: good jam, accompanied by pickles. Their baguette was just ok
- Steak tartare: you can have it prepared or DIY, which is what I chose. It comes with pickles, red onions, herbs, an egg yolk in its shell, and various sauces like a really good mustard, ketchup, worchestire sauce, salt, pepper, olive oil. I got it with a side of fries, which reminded me of McDonald's fries (good in my opinion)
- Duck confit: you get your choice of vegetables , but they recommended the potatoes, which was the right choice
Overall, it was quite filling and a very simple classic French bistro meal. I wouldn't call it a destination, per se, but if you're looking for a simple dinner in the neighborhood, it's fine.
