The Best New Hotel Bars in the World

"Le Bar de Boubalé at Le Grand Mazarin hotel, designed by Assaf Granit, offers an intimate and cozy setting reminiscent of a grandmother's house. The bar serves excellent drinks and snacks, with colorful decor and a 'clean maximalism' style. The drink to order is the 'Eastini,' made with gin, tarragon, and fennel."

Ordered steak à point (medium) and was served a fully brown, rock-hard slab with zero pink and zero juice. When we pointed it out, the waiter insisted this was “medium” and refused to acknowledge it was overcooked. This isn’t a matter of preference. It was objectively dry and tough and tastes like shoe. If brown leather counts as medium here, diners deserve a warning. Disappointing food, worse attitude. If you’re particular about steak don’t bother. Do not go to this restaurant. I don't know how they failed making a decent crepe but they did and they decided to serve it. This shows what kind of restaurant this is. Burnt crepes and rock hard "medium" steak as the standard.

Best service. Worst food! The steak was tough as a rock and overcooked. The linguine sauce was just gravy with mushroom. It is not even a proper sauce. To be fair, service was fantastic - especially from Elvin.

This is my favorite restaurant in Paris. The food is amazing and great atmosphere. I recommend it!!. The photos are from my trip from 2022.

Truly wish I could’ve gone here several times during our Paris trip. The food is good and the prices are reasonable, but the staff and the vibes of this place made it amazing. It gave me neighborhood bar/bistro vibes in the best way possible. Only went as a couple but I can see it as an ideal place with family or friends.

We had the veal and Ile flottante. Both were very good and tasty. Our group who had the reservation in this restaurant for dinner, got their flight delayed 3h but they offered to organise dinner to go. The manager was very flexible with the allergies restrictions and very welcoming. I will recomend 100%.

I loved this simple & honest bistro! Very busy with locals & the food was down to earth, French family food. Great atmosphere, delightful staff & we’ve booked for a second meal. Not fancy but good, honest, no frills food!

Google
duck breast is good. But don't order well doen. Medium should be well The tall black waitress has a good service. My wife's knife dropped, she gave her a new one immediately. And her smile is very charming We ordered 2 main dish. 40 euro. It's not expensive in Paris

Yelp
We were near Montparnasse and wanted a simple dinner, so we came here. It's a very no frills place. It started out stuffy indoors (typical for Paris), but eventually they turned on the AC, which helped. Wines are cheap. The 25 cl and 50 cl options are a better value than the glasses. I had a cote du Rhône villages and a cote du bourge, both of which were ok, but at their prices, you can't really complain. Food - - Crudite: shredded carrots, shredded celery root, tomatoes, cucumbers, and diced beets - they ended up putting a creamy white dressing on it. Had I known, I would have asked for it on the side - Jambon de Bayonne: good jam, accompanied by pickles. Their baguette was just ok - Steak tartare: you can have it prepared or DIY, which is what I chose. It comes with pickles, red onions, herbs, an egg yolk in its shell, and various sauces like a really good mustard, ketchup, worchestire sauce, salt, pepper, olive oil. I got it with a side of fries, which reminded me of McDonald's fries (good in my opinion) - Duck confit: you get your choice of vegetables , but they recommended the potatoes, which was the right choice Overall, it was quite filling and a very simple classic French bistro meal. I wouldn't call it a destination, per se, but if you're looking for a simple dinner in the neighborhood, it's fine.

Yelp
Le Baribal was conveniently located near where we stayed and was thus an easy pick for dinner when my friends and I got too lazy to venture further. Like most European restaurants, service was attentive and the place was cozy, modern, and brightly lit. All I had was a burger patty topped with an egg and complemented with egg pasta that was all a bit bland although not terrible. It helped that the portion was generous. It may be unfair for me to judge this place without giving it another shot but I don't think I'll be there anytime soon.

Yelp
This place was opened late. We came here for late night eating. It's pretty good. I ordered the duck and it was good. I also ordered the floating dessert. It was good. Food: Chard confit: really good. Bread: delicious Service: in the beginning they thought we were French because I spoke French to them and so they were really nice... Them my husband opened his mouth and... No.... That all changed. They didn't really care for us afterward. Ambiance: Quaint Overall: open late. Good for late eating

Yelp
This place is in a convenient location to where my hotel was, the duck was really tasty, the servers were extremely helpful with making menu suggestions and service.

Yelp
I grew up in the 15th. There used to be a fair amount of solid casual joints. Now most of the places are gone. There's some that have redesigned their spaces and "modernized" the place. Added a bunch of hipster items. I guess that's necessary at some level. The Baribal still serves many of the same items as I ate since the 80's. Still solid. Harder and harder to find.

Yelp
Le Baribal is located in a lively part of town, and it has the local vibe such that it won't be on anyone's list when they're planning a trip to Paris. Nonetheless, somebody I knew in the city took me here and I thought it was a pretty good meal. We both went for the steak, and I was quite amazed at the sheer size of the portions. The steak was cooked to a medium rare per my request, and I thought the taste of the meat really shined through and did not get cheapened by too much seasoning or sauce. I was a fan of the wine they had recommended, and at the end of dinner we enjoyed various types of cheeses from their cutting board. I thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience, as it was quite a change from the types of dining that I had been having all trip long. The prices were quite good as well, and I'd most happily return here if I'm in the area again.

Yelp
I've been here countless times and I cannot remember ever having a bad meal. I love their rabbit rillette, crudités, tomatoes, celeriac, and country pâté as starters. They're all delicious. The magret de canard is phenomenal and always cooked a perfect medium. Sometimes I just want a lovely salad and their frisée with lardons and egg is somewhat addictive. In the winter when I want a heavy meal the veal medallions with Roquefort sauce is insane. They also have a delightful salmon filet that seems like it's flattened and pan fried, served with lemon butter. It's sooooo good. As to sides, I LOVE the sardelaise potatoes, which are fried potatoes with trumpet mushrooms. The portion is huge and I always ask if I can have half potatoes and half spinach. They're always accommodating. I never have dessert but I've seen some good looking ones walk by. I really enjoy this bistro, as you can tell by how many items I've eaten, because it's unassuming and just good, correct French food.

Yelp
Fun meal in Paris. Visited 11/20. Heard about Le Baribal through a friend. We were the only non French in this restaurant, good to drop the other tourists! We ordered the Mussels w/ Frites and honestly I was blown away by the portion! The escargot and fresh vegetables were also great.

Yelp
Was near our AirBnb and thought we would give it a try. We had a wonderful meal the owner waited on us and communicated in English very well. There were large multigenerational family gatherings and some older French gentlemen dining alone. A true neighborhood gem. We had salmon, lamb chops and beef (party of five). Everything was very tasty and we all recommend the potatoes as a side (sliced and sautéed with mushrooms). The owner was fun, not at all snooty or ignoring us as Americans. I would go back if there weren't so many other wonderful places to try

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place, late night. The owners kept the kitchen open for us as we navigated to the restaurant. The Lamb chops were perfect! They had a nice savory flavor and went great with the table mustard (seemed to have horseradish in it which is very common in Paris). The fries were good but nothing spectacular. My boyfriend had the duck breast with a poivre sauce and he loved it!
