Le Baril Roulant - Microbrasserie / Auberge & Restaurant deserves a glowing 5-star review for offering an exceptional experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a warm and cozy atmosphere that feels both inviting and charming. The ambiance of the place is perfect for a relaxing meal or drink, and the friendly and polite staff only enhance that welcoming feeling. Their professionalism and courteousness ensure that you are well taken care of throughout your visit, making for a smooth and enjoyable experience. The drink selection is fantastic, with a variety of craft beers that are simply outstanding. Each beer is brewed to perfection, offering unique and bold flavors that elevate the entire dining experience. For beer lovers, Le Baril Roulant is a true haven. Along with the excellent drinks, the food is equally impressive. The poutine, in particular, is the best I’ve ever tasted—rich, savory, and absolutely delicious. It’s a must-try for anyone who visits. To top it all off, the views from the restaurant are breathtaking, providing a stunning backdrop to an already fantastic experience. Whether you’re there for the food, the drinks, or just to enjoy the ambiance and the scenery, Le Baril Roulant offers a memorable and fulfilling visit. It’s the perfect spot for anyone looking to relax, enjoy great food and drinks, and take in an incredible view. Highly recommended!

We did the petit train du nord, and developed a hunger. We checked Google maps and found this surprise of a place! A micro brewery and inn all on one. The food was surprisingly good and r the he environment calm and natural. The service was very good. Aw will return when in the area again!

We went there for dinner and the bison burger was just amazing. The fries were fresh and well seasoned and the salad was very refreshing too. We also got some good poutine which was good. We had the beer from the brewery and liked it very much. Our server and host was very kind and friendly.

We were pleasantly surprised by this micro pub. We had always seen it while biking but had never stopped. Since it was one of the only places open on Monday, we tried it out. We were lucky to be seated right away by a really hospitable host/waitress on the terasse facing the water (lovely). She brought us the menu and water straight away. My husband got a beer (rousse) and it was very tasty. Although we waited quite a bit (over 30 min) for food, we were not in a rush and it was well worth the wait. My husband ordered the bison burger with poutine, which came with greens. I got the boar sausage with fries and greens. This came with sauerkraut that was out of this world. The flavors exploded in my mouth and made me realize how bland my food had been this week. The potatoes seemed hand cut and were seasoned with spices l had never tasted before on fries. The burger was flavorful. The bison came through but didn't overpower the burger. The poutine tasted authentic, the sauce a joyful experience in combination with the cheese. The salad was a great compliment to both meals and was lightly seasoned. After that deliciousness, I couldn't resist ordering the tarte tatin. It didn't disapoint. My husband, who had never tasted it and is not a sweets person devoured it. (Don't worry, I got to eat some too and the caramelized apples were not too sweet and well complimented by the light crust.) We will definitely be coming back. Note: if you are in a rush, this is definitely not the place for you. Your loss though, the food is wonderful.

This review is about the pub, not the accommodations as we did not stay there. The atmosphere and service were nice for a rainly Saturday evening around 5-6 pm. The beer was decent but the food was just ok. Chicken wings were a decent size and supposed to be a "jerk style" but they were covered in a sticky sweet sauce. This is not jerk chicken IMO, no bite to them. Hubby had the Bison burger. Burger was small for $29, moreover the bun was too dense. He upgraded his fries to poutine. Once again the gravy was sweet and barely any cheese. We prefer our poutine traditional, too fancy for pub food.

Lovely restaurant with several vegan options on the menu. Hearty portion sizes. The mulled wine was delicious (and so strong haha) - some of the best mulled wine I've had! I definitely recommend stopping by for an après-ski meal.

Cozy little place off the beaten path, great selection of local beer and cider many are organic. Food is outstanding, had the nachos and burger both were well prepared and presented. No beef on the menu but bison and deer burgers are well worth it and less fatty. Poutine was excellent. Dessert and coffee were equally good.

This review is about the restaurant not the hotel. Overall it's a cute looking place with lots of tables and parking spots. We ordered the tasting platter to try the beer and it didn't disappoint. The server recommended the beers for us and they were good. We didn't finish only 1 glass of the beer other 5 were great! As for the food... We honestly didn't like it much. We are not big fans of meats that are not usual cattle, but there weren't a lot of options to get something that is just usual beef. Then the fries we got with the food were way too dry and not crispy. They gave us a loooot of sause with the fries and that helped a bit. The side salad was 'meh' and was only dressed with olive oil, nothing else. I would also suggest the restaurant to offer some toothpicks after the food, cause we needed some and there wasn't any easily available. The vibe of the place is nice, authentic, beer related. So the vibe, parking availability and speed of service raise my rating to 4 stars, for the food i'd give only 3. PS. Sorry for the pictured of the food that we tried already! We were hungry, haha!

Yelp

Yelp
This place was amazing! We ordered the vegetable soup, nachos, and a one sausage plate. Everything is house made or hyper local. The sausage came with a green salad, potatoes, braised red cabbage, and sauerkraut. If I understood correctly, the sauerkraut was flavored with green spruce tips, delicious! Makes perfect sense since they are a brasserie and spruce tips can be used in brewing. I had a blanche de Bruges that was classic to style and exceptionally drinkable. We also had a cider which was crisp, clean, and refreshing. Other reviews suggested a bias against English speakers. But, we saw none of that. The staff was kind and patient with my questions and non-existent French. Probably my favorite meal of a short trip loaded with great meals.

Yelp
I love this pub so much, and I've taken a peek at the rooms in the hostel here and they are totally lovely and comfortable and affordable. In the warm months you can sit outside and see the river and the bike path and rolling hills, it's gorgeous. But the interior is super cozy Quebec pub too, and the beers brewed by Baril Roulant are some of my very favourites in the region. When we could eat dairy and bovine protein there were tons of delicious things we loved to eat here, especially the poutine. Now that we've had to go vegan, there's not much on the menu. There is a very tasty curry dish, but not much else so we don't often make the detour to come here anymore, so that's the only reason I gave it 4 stars. If you eat meat, go have a local sausage and an incredible poutine! And I'll be finding my way back for a delicious beer soon!!

Yelp
This is a brewery and a restaurant. It's like a gastro pub. They have Poutine that is out of this world! It's a small town with good but slow service. The views are breathtaking. The beer is perfection.

Yelp
Great outdoor terrace with views of the river, friendly service and good selection of beers. Food menu is limited but includes nachos, bison burgers, vegetarian burgers, venison burger, an Indian dish, salads, 4 different types of nachos and routines. Great place to unwind, relax and if they have large groups, food may take a while but....you are in val-david....breathe and enjoy

Yelp
Just book it! The photos don't do this place justice. It was our favorite stop on Le Petit Train du Nord. It is literally right off the trail in the greatest little town. We were welcomed by two amazing women who assisted with everything we needed. The room was comfy, clean and incredibly eco friendly. It is very quiet and the bed is comfortable as well. The restaurant downstairs was packed for both lunch and dinner with a line out the door. The food was perfectly prepped, spiced and cooked. Carefully selected beers, ciders and wines and they just make it feel like home. DELICIOUS! The service was fun and made the food even better. We felt like we had known everyone for years. It is a very relaxed, casual environment. We walked around for hours. It seems to be an incredible community. We thought about packing up our family and moving to Canada after this stop. We had a wonderful breakfast and the owners mother welcomed us. It felt like visiting your favorite aunt!! Simple, delicious, family style buffet that was a perfect start to our final day on the trail. We absolutely cherished our visit here and will plan to come back! Update: we are staying in a hotel in Montreal this evening that is $500 per night. The service was better here than at a 5-star hotel. I wish I was kidding.

Yelp
Great place for after ski! Warm wood ambiance, awesome selection of locally brewed beer but also good guest beers. The food is especially tasty and comforting. Go there, sit down, relax and enjoy the mood. If you are in a hurry, this might not be the best place to stop. Rooms are also available. Great service! Try the Pot-Pie and the soups, there are awesome!!

Yelp
Voted best bison burger ever by our family! Also very good microbrasserie. We really enjoyed the biophilia blonde, but they also make tons of IPA.

Yelp
Great little inn, walking distance (15 mins) to both cross-country and downhill skiing. Our quiet room had its own private entrance to the side and a jacuzzi which was wonderful to warm up and relax after a full day of skiing. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the best, freshest beer, crafted by the friendly owner and his wife.
