Le Bergerac Boutique Hotel

Room was dimly lit ( bulbs were fused and had to ask for bedside lamps for more light) Spider webs and mold adorned the ceiling in the bathroom. A 🪳 was seen scurrying, which eventually we killed. Fan was set on extremely low and there was no way to speed it up Sheets were not changed and long hairs were detected on the pillow case 2 people shared the room, one bath towel was provided, had to go and request for another. Toilet seat and commode were mismatched. The incessant ring of the door bell thru all hours of the night was a nuisance as the room was not sound proof and other guests were arriving at all hours . People living across the villa were loud all thru the night, or could there have been a club directly opposite. We didn't avail of the breakfast as we were already disappointed with the cleanliness factor . Didn't have to much confidence that the kitchen would be any better.

Family run hotel desperately in need of updating and some TLC. This is the room I chose Description : SUP1B-Superior Room 1 queen Bed: Our superior rooms are comfortable and spacious They have a private patio with garden view that offers an environment of peace and relaxation in the middle of the city. Refrigerator with one queen bed. All have WI-Fi and internet Firstly there was no refrigerator, the garden was wild, overgrown and the furniture outside was dirty and unusable. Most items in the room were filthy and nothing appears to have changed from the review on trip advisor posted March 25. Filth wise the most offensive was the mattress heavily stained, wall (drip marks), toilet bowl (stained yellow) floor (dirty and gritty), fans caked in dirt, towels (old and stained) lampshade (covered in dust) headboard (dusty) shower cubicle (cracked mouldy tiles) and damp on the walls. Maintenance wise the electric plug was hanging out of the wall, neither lamps worked, the safe needed a key, broken windows in both bathroom and bedroom allowed so many mosquitoes to come in. Photo evidence provided. We asked to speak to the manager at reception the next morning who told us she was day off and the owners lived in Florida, we said we were unhappy with the room and he was unhelpful so we booked another hotel and left! We had booked for 5 nights and left after 1 and didn’t sleep for that one night and got bitten by mosquitoes coming through the window gap. The Hotel is in a good location, apart from the customers at The Fallen Stag pub/nightclub 20 m away who kick out at about 5/5.30 am, loud singing and shouting and in the morning beer bottles left everywhere in the road, no wonder the hotel is encircled by metal bars everywhere. We didn’t bother with a breakfast. We are approaching our bank for a charge back as the Bergerac refused to refund nights not stayed. The bathroom was not clean. The hotel doorbell could be heard constantly going off, there must be a better system that doesn't disturb guests. They did have WiFi and a comfortable bed. If you want easy access to night life this might suit you, yet for me a unclean room is unforgivable in this industry.

Did not feel welcomed. No glasses in room so had to ask for one and told I would have to pay for it. Stayed 3 days as joining a tour. The rooms are nice and big. If you are on 2nd floor you have to ask reception to help. Breakfast abysmal. Staff seemed totally disinterested. Other tour members also stayed there who also complained. Tour company changed plans so wouldn't have to go back there. Hotel has alot of potential . Stop putting up notices everywhere. Welcome your guests . Service the rooms. I was there for 3 days and completely ignored . No fresh towels. As a independent travel agent would not recommend. We then travelled around CR and other hotels very welcoming

The place felt old and dated and the rooms were not cleaned very well. The service wasn't very good either. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The only positive thing about it was that it was walking distance to some nice bars and restaurants.

This hotel is horrible. When we checked in, we were offered a room that had two beds, none of which had fresh bed sheets. After requesting another room, it turned out housekeeping hadn’t changed them. The second room was also gross and dirty. The bathroom was filthy, all the walls had stains on them. Hot water and water in general was intermittent. When we slept, it was raining. In the morning, the ceiling of the bathroom was dripping. I really don’t understand how G Advebtures includes this hotel on their “top seller” 16-day tour. Totally unacceptable and it’s a joke.

The hotel is a 20-minute walk from the tourist area in San Jose, though there are restaurants closer to the hotel. The rooms are run down. We stayed there at the beginning of our trip and again at the end (we had prepaid, so couldn't cancel our second stay). The room they gave us the first time was not cleaned. The sheets had hair on it! We were a couple and they gave us one towel! The ceiling fan could not be controlled. There was mold on the ceiling. On the second stay, our room did not have towels, lamps or a TV. The ceiling lights were very dim. When we asked for towels, we were initially given one. When we asked for lamps, they took them from other rooms! There was a cockroach in the room! Le Bergerac is no longer a Boutique hotel as the name suggests.

I stayed at this hotel at the beginning and end of a tour. From both stays in two different rooms I concluded the same thing. The accomodation is not very clean and the street noise between 12-6am on a Friday + Saturday makes sleeping difficult. The following photos are from the second stay. Unclean bedding, lots of dust and a bathroom in need of a deep clean. There was a cockroach in the room in the morning. On my first stay I found dirt and insect pieces on the sheets. The location is near a really cool neighbourhood. I think you could probably get better value elsewhere in the neighbourhood
