Family run hotel desperately in need of updating and some TLC.
I stayed in two different rooms at the start and beginning of a tour, so this is not a hotel I chose and booked.
The rooms themselves are actually a really good size, and the bathrooms are massive. The furniture in the rooms are ok, and both beds were comfortable. But cleanliness of both rooms was below par, and had maintenance issues that could be easily fixed.
Cleanliness: floors were filthy and gritty - when I stepped out of the shower I could see how dirty the floors (and my feet) were. Towels were dated and in my opinion unclean. I questioned whether or not they’d actually been changed after the previous guests because of how dirty they were. There’s a notice on the bathroom wall asking guests not to use the towels for cleaning their shoes or removing makeup, but if there’s dirt on the towels it’s not from cleaning shoes - it’s probably from cleaning the dirty floor from their feet.
Maintenance: plug socket behind side table was hanging off the wall and electrical wiring was exposed. Broken window in bathroom (not covered with insect screens) allowing insects and the elements in.
Both of my rooms had doors leading to an outside seating area. This has the potential to be a really beautiful space, but the area was overgrown and the furniture uninviting.
I didn’t have breakfast at the hotel as I opted to eat out each morning.
Location of the hotel is good - close to a supermarket and lots of restaurants.
If I’m being honest I could not recommend staying here, as I know you can get much better elsewhere. It’s a shame as Le Bergerac has the potential to be a great hotel, but as I said before it does need some TLC.
