Exceptional!! God has heard our prayers! On our 4th day travelling in the south of France we finally found a restaurant serving authentic french cuisine!! For the starter we shared herring and terrine. For the mains we had duck, rabbit and beef l'authentic. The hostess (the lady singly taking care of everything in the hall) personified hospitality and concern for the guests. And I finally got aligote - a french grape variety rarely found even in the french outlets. Thank you, Le Bistrot!!

This restaurant was perfect. We ate here the first night in town and it was lovely.
The street is quiet and peaceful. There was no electronic music (which many other restaurants seem to love). The staff was honestly some of the most sweet and kind staff I’ve encountered in France.
As for food it was simple, tasty and reasonably priced. We had a the salmon rillete as an appetizer (as a result of inaccurate menu pointing on my part) and it was really great. The combo of the smoked salmon, the soft bread and delicious olive oil was divine.
Also had the duck config which fell off the bone and was perfectly moist. My dining companion enjoyed the risotto and ratatouille which provided a well balance flavor combo. We finished with the crème brûlée which was unique because the cream was less sweet than other places which balanced the cooked sugar topping well.
We don’t have reservations and sat outside. It was very nice. Outside seating seems to fit 2 people max. Make reservations for more.

Le Bistrot is a phenomenal place to eat while in Provence. It feels very authentically French, with fantastic food and great service, at a reasonable price.
It’s definitely worth the extra walking distance, slightly off the beaten track and away from the bustling centre. If you find yourself in Provence looking for an affordable, delicious French restaurant, don’t hesitate to give Le Bistrot a try.

Although the food was good, none of the wines by the glass were decent. In fact, they tasted terribly bad. We tried all the reds and one white. It’s amazing that this is possible at a restaurant that is located in an excellent wine region.
The wines by the bottle are priced too high to easily switch to one of those (of which I now also doubt of their quality).
In conclusion: Not one of my recommendations

Good little bistro tucked away in a little alley. Nice menu with funny names. Good "home style" food. A few regional wines by glass, carafe or bottles. Cocktail and beers too. Good service. Recommended

While visiting Aix-en-Provence, my wife and I had dinner at Le Bistrot and it was a great experience. The first thing one notices when entering the restaurant is a glass plate in the floor overlooking a lower floor of the restaurant – very unusual. We did not have reservations but were able to secure a nice table in one of the quiet corners of the restaurant.
The other thing you immediately notice is the menu, all the dishes are a play on words. “Merde de Big-Mac” is the name of their beef burger offering. I ordered “Parce que je le veau bien” which is the their veal stew with tagliatelle pasta. My wife ordered the “canard boiteaux” which was duck thigh and potato salardaise. All of the dishes were very tasty. For dessert, we had ice cream and a serving of their bread pudding with chocolate sauce. The table service was excellent as was the wine selection. We found that we could order a partial bottle of wine at Le Bistrot, which was particularly helpful.
Le Bistrot is a fun restaurant with an excellent menu, great service and an interesting interior floor. It should be tried at least once if you’re in the area of Aix-de-Provence.

Simply exquisite. Absolutely a meal we will never forget! We are still thinking about it…. There's no service in the restaurant so you can't look up what's in the dishes; order them anyway cause they were all amazing! Ginormous jar of cornichons was a highlight. Any jar of cornichons can be a personal jar of cornichons if you believe in yourself 🤣
Best meal during my trip in the south of France!

Yelp
Excellent meal in Aix-En-Provence. A traditional french restaurant with French classics done very well. I would absolutely return.
We choose to eat inside but there are plenty of outside tables as well. The atmosphere gives off textbook French bistro so the name fits.
The steak was very good and the potatoes were unreal.

Yelp
Le Bistrot was recommended by our host in Aix-en-Provence so we made a reservation and were really looking forward to a well cooked meal.
I have to say our entire experience was a major disappointment and left us with a negative impression of Aix. The service was non-existent..our meal took 1 1/2 hours to arrive and then is was terrible. Fish was tasteless, steak was fatty, poorly cooked and presented. Ambiance of the place might have potential but because our experience was so bad, it's not even worth going. There are plenty of charming establishments in town...this is not one of them.

Yelp
Great place just behind the Cathedral. It looks just like a bistro should look. The whole place is serviced by one excellent waiter (with a helper) and a chef that makes wonderful food. We have been there several times during a month in Aix and we were always very pleased with the food, the service, and the wine I can recommend the eggs mimosa, the duck confit, the very delicious lamb and their delicious desserts. We had some excellent Bandol wine. I recommend making a reservation,

Yelp
I ate here with my family. If we had not made reservations I don't think we would have gotten in. It was a Sunday so lots of places were closed and we were lucky to find Le Bistrot online with lots of good reviews.
I had the ribeye steak. It was very tasty but a little tough with lots of gristle. This makes me rate the place a 3 Star.
The wait staff were super nice and friendly. So they get huge kudos for service. The ambiance was beautiful too.
My kids said the burger they had was the best burger they've ever had.... yes, even better than In'n'out burger in California. They wanted me to rate Le Bistro a 5 or better if possible.
So.... I came up from 3 to 4 and hope the steak just had a bad night.

Yelp
I came to Le Bistrot a few days ago and the meal was amazing! I ordered the burger and it was like heaven in my mouth. At first it was hard to understand the menu or waiters, (the waiters spoke French and the menu's were in French) but thanks to google translate, I was able to mostly understand. I wouldn't recommend coming here with children because the menu items are all gourmet and not simple like kids would expect.
The service was great and I hope to return to Le Bistrot for another amazing meal.

Yelp
Recommended by both our hotel and a cousin who was there previously. On a back street but not hard to find. We were glad we had reservations since it filled up quickly. Delicious food and friendly staff.

Yelp
Great French food and service with a great atmosphere. We are downstairs in the cave. The chairs are cozy and the waiter was happy to help with whatever we needed!

Yelp
The service here was not very friendly and the quality of food was not what I was expecting from a French restaurant.
