First impressions not great, an outdoor garden seating with shoddy tables and chairs, the pavement in quite an advanced state of disrepair, generally not clean enough. Definitely not cheap, but not outrageously expensive either for a restaurant in Montmartre. The menu is not varied enough, and the some of the few dishes on offer are what one could call a “pretend creative” combination of ingredients. The veal tartare I ordered was nothing impressive, just average. Sorry, for €18 this was not good enough. Won’t come back.

Good food and nice staff, I had the oysters and the octopus which were both great.

The garden is very pleasant but the owner or maybe it's the person who runs the restaurant is very very rude. When we wanted to go through into the garden and sit while we were waiting for our friend to park the car, he said we had to wait in the hot bar and if we didn't like it we could leave. Waiters were pleasant but the food was very ordinary at least my lamb was-- no taste and hard chic peas. The area near the kitchen and stairs to the garden looked very scary dirty and really put me off. I'll never go back again.

In the front, it looks like a nearly dead Bistro. But the secret is the quiet garden in the back, hidden completely from view. I've been a regular to the next door bar, and I'd never known the garden next door! Its so well hidden. Perfect date spot when the weather is warmer. Drink selection is limited, but the wines are great, and the staff are helpful in deciding what to take. Some do not speak English, but regardless are always respectful and friendly.

Great food and friendly service 😊

Google
Poor service. I tried this restaurant twice: I was alone the 1st time and got refused as they would “waste a table for a single person while they could sell more to two people”. I came back another day with friends. The service was slow, the waiters were unfriendly and the dishes not cooked enough. The inner terrasse is cosy and nice, but the global experience is terrible. There are a lot of amazing adresses in the surroundings, you should try another one.

Very Friendly Staff and the Garden is perfect for a sunny brunch. Approved by @tamocross 😉

Yelp
The waiter was extremely rude, he had the "don't have time for you" attitude, and he got one of our orders wrong. Had to wait quite awhile for the food. The steak and frites was decent though the beef was a bit tough. The beef carpaccio was rather juicy and was paired with olives and shaved cheese.

Yelp
Great food, amazing atmosphere. True Parisian experience. I went a while back but didn't write my review. It is well deserving. Fun owner. Loved the street. Beautiful terrace. I will be back! Thank you

Yelp
I think the rule (law) is that the menu must state if the cuisine is prepared on location - meaning "home cooking" more or less or, if it doesn't say this, then it means the food was possibly "factory" prepared. In this way, the traditional and classic bistros can proudly tout their dedication to the craft of cuisine. It's an interesting not so small battle going on in France currently. In any event, the sign at Bistro des Dames proudly states that everything is prepared on location and with the ingredients of the season. My meal was very good and the service was too. Bistro des Dames has a fantastic terrace for summer dining. This is worth noting because it can be difficult to find a good terrace for dinner in Paris. Anyplace that has a chair on the sidewalk will claim "terrace", but it may not be the best for a meal for a group of 4 as ours was. Anyway, there are no reservations for the terrace so if you want to eat there you either get there very early for the first seating - say by 7PM or, go later for the second seating - say 9 or 9:15. Anything in between, forget it. This is in the 17th (Clichy area). The neighborhood around Bistro des Dames is a little more local and feels like it deserves some further exploration.

Yelp
FR + GB Very cool place! GB: This is a typical thing to visit and experience in Paris! The European experience! Good food, good atmosphere and good people. The little "hidden" terrasse is a great pleasure and surprise when you first get in.. unsuspected treasure! try the "Tartare de boeuf".. good meat; true story! J'y retournerai!

Yelp
We came with great expectations. Sue had wanted a steak which is pretty unusual and I finally found this place that had good reviews for the steak and I was looking forward to the Tuna Steak. We got there at 9pm. Seemed to be a peak time for the location. Nice location, there were people waiting to get in and others who came and left because they saw the wait. Most people were waiting for a seat in the Garden Area, which is very lovely. But they let people smoke there. So its basically an eden polluted. We didn't mind not sitting in the Garden and waited about 15 minutes which wasn't too bad. We got a seat in the kind of back area just inside kind of overlooking the garden area thru an open window. The breeze was nice, but it also would be accompanied by whiffs of cigaret smoke. But it was a Romantic Parisian Bistro with lots of hip Parisians. The food we saw coming out for other people looked very nice. It was very busy and I assumed it would be a leisurely meal. It was ok, that it was taking a long time to take our order as I was using google translate to figure out the Menu. Finally our order was taken, a bit hurriedly as I think there were only 2 or 3 wait people for the whole restaurant it seemed. Sue ordered the entrecôte deBoeuf (Rib Steak). The waitress asked if she would like it Medium. Sue said, "Medium Rare". I ordered the Mi-cuit Thon (Seared Tuna). We weren't asked if we wanted anything to drink or a starter dish. I had spied a cold Parsley soup with Goat Cheese (I don't remember the French name) which sounded intriguing. So I asked her to add that. We then waited for quite a while. This in not a typical American hyper attention deficit long wait, but an hour+ wait. We saw other people kind of fidgeting, but eventually getting their appetizers. We didn't get any water, bread, anything. Eventually we got her attention and got some water. But eventually (1+ hours after we ordered) we got the soup, and it was remarkable (in a good way). One of the more unique tastes I've had in my life. But it was not something that Sue particularly liked. Then we waited for some more, and some more, two guys who sat down after us got the same things we ordered served to them. The group behind was also waiting for their meal and starting to fidget, and they were clearly Parisians. So this wasn't a Slow Food movement, it was an overloaded staff in the kitchen and wait staff. When the waitress came by to serve the table next to us, I jokingly said, Sue was getting very hungry. She said its coming... We waited some more. So about 45 minutes after the Soup, we got our main dishes. Or at least I got mine. They brought the completely wrong dish, a Chicken Dish to Sue. We looked at her dish in disbelief, as we're not completely sure, maybe it was beef prepared in some unexpected way. And we ask her, "Is this the Steak?" The waitress said yes! This was a definite language problem here, but it was not when we ordered as the Waitress expressly asked if Sue wanted it Medium. You don't ask that about Chicken. So it was a screwup. We confirmed it was chicken by poking at it. And then I got up and found the waitress and told her it was wrong, we asked for Beef, not Chicken. The waitress was clearly flustered. She said, ok, she will talk to the Chef and took back the Chicken. Sue insisted I start eating. The Tuna steak was tasty but kind of cold. The Vegetable medley on the side was delicious. Couldn't really tell you what it was (described as Legumes Asiatique I think. But it was very good. I was eating slowly hoping they would swoop out a replacement dish for Sue. But even while eating slowly I finished my meal and Sue was still waiting. At that point it was like 11pm and she no longer wanted the steak. So I got up and said we did not want to wait any longer. The waitress said, it was taking a long time because "we asked for it to be Medium Well done" I said just cancel it. Luckily she did and apologized. But that was it. They did not charge me for the Steak they didn't deliver, but no other compensation or attempt to mend a relationship. I don't know how normal it is, but as I was waiting for the check, I saw a mouse scurrying around the floor under one of the adjacent tables... Its too bad. It seemed like a very nice place and the food generally seemed quite good. It did seem like all the staff were about as frazzled I've seen hip Parisians. I guess it means it might be best to not go there at peak times. I'm giving it 3 stars because most of the food I did get was very good. I don't know how often they screw up orders and take too long. Sue says I'm being way to nice. She would rate it a negative star.

Yelp
OK, how do I post a sixth star on this thing? This resto taught me that stopping wherever one happens to be at mealtime is a recipe for Paris mealtime failure. Deciphering the French Yelp reviews and making a beeline for the Bistro des Dames is a recipe for success. Thank you my Francophone brothers and sisters! Yah. Come here at 7:00pm and stay for dinner. These folks could not put a foot wrong. Super nice, super helpful, super amazing food. If you need a dictionary to decipher the menu, bring one! Everything was excellent - mango papaya salad, spanish cheese and meat plate, veal in mushroom special, "coffee gourmande" dessert sampler. Yah. Six stars. Easy. Dining in the back garden was a pleasure. Marie the waitress couldn't have been nicer or more charming. Unisex bathroom stall was tiny but clean.

Yelp
3 girls and 1 pint per girl = more than 25€ (yes....) 18h30 and we are being asked to leave... "because they are setting up for dinner" while 2 girls are being served Moritos in front of us.... knowing that we had to it 30 minutes for our drinks.... The garden would be lovely if the service wasn't that bad and obnoxious... they know they will always have people and therefore don't care...

Yelp
This restaurant was highly recommended by a few guide books so we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately it did not live up to our expectations. We were given an English menu and placed our order from it. About ten minutes later the waiter returned to advise that the English menu was out of date and the items we had ordered were no longer available except regrettably for the sausage plate. He then gave us a French menu only and we made our choices. He quickly delivered a plate with two sausages on it, one of which was so hard and old that Robespierre probably refused to eat it the night before he was guillotined. We asked for a replacement which the waiter brought but in his haste one of the two sausages rolled on to the floor. The other starter, a duck pate was very good and the two main courses were very good. When the bill arrived we were charged for two sausage plates. They did remove one of them from the bill when we mentioned it. Our experience was not isolated. We won't describe all of the issues of the people sitting across from us (there were many) but one we must mention. They ordered the soup of the day, a gazpacho. When they asked where it was after about a half hour of waiting, the waiter shrugged his shoulders and said "I forgot to tell you we ran out".

Yelp
Bistro des Dames, based on all the signs they have on their windows this is one heck of a restaurant. Based on the happiness of my stomach, this IS one heck of a restaurant. Definitely was one of the best meals I had in Paris during my visit. To start off our table had foie gras, goat cheese, and smoked salmon. Everything was delicious and of course the star was the foie gras. The portions were absolutely enormous and after about 6 baskets of bread we were able to polish off all our appetizers. I especially loved the flavor combinations of vanilla and the foie gras, definitely something new. For my entree I had the steak frites, classic French bistro food but it was executed perfectly and not a single complaint. Service was great and their restaurant is huge, they were thankfully able to seat our large table in the midst of the dinner rush without reservation.

Yelp
I would have loved to sit in their cute little courtyard for dinner, but it was booked. I was extremely jet lagged and had not slept for over 24 hrs, so everything felt like a terrible daze. Minus this restaurant. The server was so friendly and nice. We tried to speak to her in our limited French, and she made an effort with some English as well. The food was fabulous. Pesto sea bass, roasted chicken, steak... Foie Gras salad.. Everything was flavorful and unique. For dessert we had this custard thing..I'd never tasted anything like it. I am not quite sure what it's called, (panna cotta?) but it was topped up with a fresh strawberry ...so good. Please come here if you are in this part of Paris!

Yelp
I came here quite early during dinner hours, hoping to dine in the renowned gardens, but fat chance. I suppose one must make reservations well in advance to enjoy the outdoor experience. Nevertheless I enjoyed an Assiette d'antipasti et mozzarella du Bufala with a glass of red wine. The service was delightful.

Yelp
Never ever have I ever went to a place and ordered foie gras that came in huge portions like they serve at this place. Usually you would get one or two slices but this place came in a nice fat chunk. It was delicious and with their toasty bread, it was mouthwatering. Their smoked salmon appetizer was delicious too. To be honest, you could just order their appetizers and call it your main dinner. it was a lot and by the time i got my entree, i was full. For the main entree, I ordered a salmon steak and it was tender and it had a nice Viet flavor twist to it especially with the cilantro and bean sprouts they mixed with it. The restaurant has a downstairs too where we got seated and adjacent to it is a garden. I can imagine it being a great place to hang out and wine it up on a warm spring/summer night.

Yelp
Great little restaurant recommended to us by our house owner. We had the charcuterie appetizer to start. Good, fresh cuts. I had the mixed grill (beef, chicken, and lamb). Well cooked, although the lamb was a bit under dine to my liking. Great desserts! We had creme brûlée and strawberry with cream and both were a good ending to the meal. Server was very friendly, explaining the menu in English to us.

Yelp
I can't wait until summer comes, so that I can sit in this Bohemian-chic bistrot's hidden terrace out backbut I've also found the cozy Le Bistrot des Dames to be a great place to indulge in comfort-cooking a la Francaise during the winter, as well. Whether just going for an apero or for a full meal, you'll find the serving staff pleasant - even personable - and the menu ranges from simple bistrot fare to some outstanding daily specials, all reasonably priced. Be forewarned that the portions here can be generous! Also keep in mind that the place usually gets packed after 8:30 pm, although you may be surprised that there is still a table available in the downstairs dining areathis lively dining establishment really packs 'em in!

Yelp
Great little unassuming place. I used to pass it just about every day and I was always curious of what it was like inside. I finally had the occasion to try it with some locals and I loved it. This place is definitively a hidden treasure. Certainly worth a visit. Stop by and enjoy the comfortable inviting atmosphere. It has many features not apparent at first like the unexpected courtyard.
