9 Best Brunch Spots in Berlin | Condé Nast Traveler

"Berlin brunchers tend to obsess over a good eggs Benedict, and Le Bon has elevated the breakfast comfort food to a work of art—and made it available throughout the week for those who crave not just deliciousness but consistency. The egg yolks are creamy and, if you should happen to go for it, the smoked salmon tastes fresh instead of oily. If that's not your thing, the Le Bon is also famous for its shakshuka—currently one of Berlin's trendiest dishes. This place is popular among the young, hip denizens of neighboring Neukölln and Kreuzberg. Expect to hear lots of English-speakers—it draws Aussie, Brit, and American expats." - Krystin Arneson

I really dig the vibe of this place, not to mention the great service and food! The lovely lady who took my order was friendly and accommodating. I’ve had the porridge and a coconut chai latte, what a sweet way to start your day!

I visited this café recently and was a bit disappointed. The atmosphere wasn’t great and it didn’t feel very clean. The staff seemed confused and even forgot our pancake order, despite there being only two of us and a small order overall. The matcha was poorly made, unfortunately. On the positive side, the Eggs Benedict were delicious and perfectly cooked.

One of the best hash browns I have ever eaten! This place was for a long time on my list “to go” and my friends and I had finally completed this mission. The staff is kind and attentive to details which is quite rare in Berlin. The food is great and I loved my avocado toast. Okay, I have to be honest, I am not a fan of edamame and I kind of wishes they were not on my avo toast but I don’t want to complain 😊

A great option to grab a hearty brunch on a beautiful Sunday. It can get really busy around noon, so make sure to be prepared to stand in the line for half an hour. We were lucky because we got seated at the best round table inside with a view outside. We started with a cappuccino which was really creamy and the coffee wasn't runny. We got their signature Eggs Benedict with rosemary ham, croque monsieur which was the highlight of the breakfast, mainly because of the strong flavor of the melted mountain cheese on top, simply delicious. We got very intrigued by their cranberry granola pancakes as well, so we grabbed one to share for dessert, and it had a very unique taste, so highly recommend

Le Bon in Berlin is a must-visit for anyone who loves a great brunch! Their granola pancakes are hands-down the best in town—fluffy, perfectly cooked, and served with just the right balance of sweetness from the berries (they also added banana, nutella, and honey). If you’re a fan of eggs, their eggs Benedict with bacon is also a winner, combining rich, creamy hollandaise with crispy, flavorful bacon on top of perfectly poached eggs. The whole menu has a fresh, well-curated feel, and the atmosphere at Le Bon is warm and inviting, with a stylish, laid-back vibe that’s perfect for a weekend brunch. Friendly service and attention to detail make the experience even better. Le Bon is definitely one of Berlin’s brunch spots you can’t miss!

The Eggs Benedict and Lemon Avocado Toast were absolutely delicious! The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the presentation was spot on. The waffles, though, were the best—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and simply unforgettable. Plus, they serve you tap water, which is a nice touch. A must-visit spot in Berlin for a great brunch!

The service was very friendly and seated us quite quickly. We then ordered drinks before we decided to order some items from the breakfast menu. We would recommend the porridge as well as the eggs Benedict with salmon and the salad. They were very delicious and tasty!! The staff was also very friendly. For anyone looking for a brunch spot in Berlin; definitely check this place out because it has a great selection in its breakfast menu!!

I had the scrambled eggs with bacon. It was a surprisingly generous plate with a yummy arugula side salad, and big slices of toasted sourdough. The service was excellent. They gave me a bowl of water for the dog. They also opened the window I was sitting by, which made it feel much more like the outside. Very pleasant experience overall. Would definitely repeat. The prices are on par for the neighborhood and the portions are a bit better than the usual trendy tinier ones. The menu is quite short but everything leaving the kitchen looked delicious and I look forward to returning.

Yelp
Sooooo good. Got the pancakes and they were sweet but not overpoweringly so. Also, best chai latte I've ever had in my life! Waitstaff were super nice and service was quick. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
What an amazing place. If you are a tourist, transient and new to the area, or a local you must eat here. They classify their food as German with an international flavor - meaning they use German style cooking - hearty heavy food like they meats and soups but they also use ingredients that are not traditionally found in the Bavarian region. Their breads are served warm and free as an appetizer. I ordered a fleish (meat plate) it was heavy and hearty. The meat was well cooked and juicy and saucy because of the poppy seed mustard sauce they smothered it in. We also ordered the dumpling soup that was well flavored but not too thick like Indian curry. It was perfect for the rainy day. Then kind of an appetizer we ordered pancake granola. The service was great. Sharp witty and quick waitresses. The place was also well decorated and clean and retro new with old brink walls and reclaimed wood tables. Food presentation is also worthy of a 5- star chef and kitchen. I wanted to ask to see the kitchen and thank the chef and cooks personally... But I was too shy. I will have to visit again! The price was also very affordable for this the food. What a value!

Yelp
Minimally designed with a touch of rustic chic, Le Bon manages to nail a romantic ambiance, thanks to its cozy quarters and dim lighting. It's so Frenchified that it'll make you whisper "oui, oui" all night to your lover. Unfortunately, I was on a date with 13 other people (with kids in tow too!) but that's just how we like it when we're on vacation. Big get togethers are more fun! Service was phenomenal and I really applaud a restaurant that can patiently handle orders from more than 10 people. Wine never stopped flowing, food was wonderfully prepared and the price is just right. The chalkboard menu makes it hard to order (I had to squint to read the German menu, not because I know German, but just so I can try to make the words out!) so ask your server for recommendations. The octopus with pork belly is a must, while my entree of asparagus with potatoes and soft poached egg is simply fantastic. Drink to your heart's content, we had several bottles of the Gruner Veltliner at only 28 euros a bottle! Le bon, merci pour les souvenirs délicieux!

Yelp
A friend and I wandered the nearby Turkish outdoor market (Tuesdays and Saturdays), but wanted a warm indoor spot for lunch. The food here was really good. I had a tomatoey-eggy dish that was amazing, with crusty bread to slurp it down. YUM.

Yelp
Nice place in "Kreuzkölln" with very good food! The service was friendly and good. So, if you are in the area you should try their breakfasts (which you can also order for lunch). The only thing I didn't like was the fact that it was a little bit to noisy for talking during lunch.

Yelp
Le Bon....le sigh. I loved coming here nearly 2 years ago and was quite the regular. But about a year ago things took a turn for the worse. While the food is often incredible (if it's not sold out), unfortunately the service leaves little to be desired. I don't know what it is, but every time I've been there in the last year has been a disaster. Orders coming out wrong or not even coming out, our waitress completely forgetting our drinks or requests (the veggie option was ordered once and the meat version came out). They recently remodeled and rebranded and while it's beautiful and the food is delicious, sometimes coming here is more stressful than it's worth. If they got s new staff (except for the Aussie girl at the front because she kicks ass and seems to fix everyone's mistakes) then they'd be unstoppable.

Yelp
This place is tasty and trendy. They change the menu weekly so it's always seasonal food. I had eggplant parmesan with buffalo mozzarella which was very tasty. Could have been a bit warmer, but the flavor was still quite good. The dinner menu looked delicious and I'd like to go back for dinner, it was still a bit pricey for the area.

Yelp
Came with my partner for pancakes, asked if it was possible to get bacon with the pancakes instead of all of the extra sugar (carmelized banana, granola, chili choc almond butter, jam, etc.), and to order hash browns as a side. Was told by the owner: "You don't have to eat the sugar, but you can pay for it." Staff waiter was very friendly, but unfortunately won't return due to the sheer inflexibility and unfriendliness of the owner.

Yelp
Yes, yes, yes... I am in love with this place and finally Berlin has a place similar to what you can find it London. This is great food. Greasy comfort food with outstanding quality. Coffee is lovingly good too. The interior is by far the most beautiful in Berlin. Simple, white, but utterly beautiful. Just after my taste. The friendly staff will provide you with smiles and friendly service.

Yelp
After receiving the menus, the waitress took too long to return to our table. She was otherwise friendly enough. The food tasted good, but a bit overpriced. To have some extra avocado, for example, costs €2,50. The reason for the 1-star rating is because the cook didn't even know what was in his soup. I can't eat gluten. It makes me sick. My german isn't perfect, so I was unsure if the soup had gluten or not. I asked the waitress and she asked the cook. He assured her that it was indeed gluten-free. The cook now knows I can't eat gluten and sends out a salad with croutons. The waitress caught that, and they brought me a new one (the cook delivered it with a slightly perturbed look on his face) The soup arrived and tasted great. But there were grain-like bits in there. I was going to ask again (I should have), but I had already asked once, and therefore trusted their assertion. I ate all the soup. I left the restaurant. But then a nagging worry made me turn around. I went back in to double-check. And yes, it turns out that the grainy bits were barley and therefore I'll likely have a rough night.

Yelp
Never disappointing. Their food is always fully satisfying. I can only recommend to get anything there and you'll like it. Even the salad on the side is fresh and carefully selected with nicely roasted seeds.

Yelp
Gonna write two reviews because ate here once for breakfast and once for dinner.. Breakfast - 5 stars Breakfast is amazing! Well-priced, simple and fresh. Had poached eggs with salad, toast and bacon. My friend had the granola pancakes which were decadent and delicious. Coffee is good too! I will definitely come back for breakfast. But onto dinner... Dinner - 0-1 stars Cannot believe how different this place is at night! Went on a weeknight with hardly anyone in the restaurant and the service was unbelievably slow. Took the server 30 minutes to even take our order, another 20 minutes after that to serve some bread. 20 minutes after this we received two starters - a gazpacho (which to be fair was good) and a spargelsalat (nice, but 16 euros for 3 small stalks with a few parmesan shavings on top?). I'm not expecting immediate service, and I normally enjoy lengthy dinners - but this was extreme. When the food finally showed up 90 minutes after arriving (one hour after placing the order), it wasn't good. Only one dish was decent - the rib eye - good portion size, nice meat and veg. The next dish was scallops - they were small and served on 'parsley mashed potatoes' (actually, a few spoonfuls of watery, salty potato pulp). The last dish was awful - it was supposed to be pork belly with shrimp, served with broccoli, avocado and fresh coriander. The dish was missing the shrimp, and it was a long, tough piece of pork belly (how pork belly can be tough I don't even know...). Two cold pieces of broccoli, a few tiny bits of avocado, and then a cook came out and said "here, please enjoy some shrimp on the house, it's the chef's birthday". The shrimp that was meant to be in the dish in the first place? The waitress was not accommodating at all - classic Berlin service wüste which I expect. Not mad at her or the restaurant, but for the extreme prices and subpar food and service quality, I won't ever come back here for dinner again.

Yelp
Great food! We had the pan seared salmon for lunch and I had a lemonade as well. Really nice service and a good experience

Yelp
Came early for dinner without reservation, found an empty restaurant, but staff tried to send us away. After discussing all tables been empty and we be gone by eight, they gave us a table next to kitchen (not very cosy, because of the sound of the dish washer). First of all we started with homemade focaccia and olive oil and an explanation of the menu of the day. All of the dishes sounded really good. At the end of the day my soup was too salty and the risotto was actually not very well kept together (wrong choice of rice) and with a huge lack of flavor. We'll come back again in a few weeks, as staff doesn't seem to be ready for busy dinner evenings yet (kitchen and waiters).

Yelp
Please note that this low-score review does not have to do with the food, which was very good indeed (deserving of at least 3 stars). Indeed, I very much enjoyed my first visit to Le Bon, and until today I would have probably recommended the restaurant - however I just received a call, just four hours before my reservation for tonight, to inform me that my booking had been cancelled due to a "booking system error". Needless to say, this is appalling, and the restaurant's apologies for their royal c*ck-up were hardly profuse. Indeed, the person on the phone seemed more sorry for themselves than for me. I'd like to reiterate again that the food is decent, but really my experience today was unacceptable, and I feel duty-bound to make the above episode known. Shambles!

Yelp
What a terrible place. Service is about -3/10. We had to wait about 45 minutes to get our food. The waitresses were quite rude and unhelpful. Maybe the food itself is good, but it was completely spoiled by the service. And we had to wait an additional half an hour to pay for this.
