The oldest restaurant in Montmartre has been revamped by the team who reinvented the Bouillon Pharamond. They've kept all the charm of this classic venue but with a fresh appeal! Excellent traditional French dishes with a modern twist, very friendly staff, a magical vintage decor and fantastic French playlist. They've got a large backroom that's also perfect for larger dinners. Highly recommended!

Historic old restaurant, very beautiful interior. The food though was very average French cuisine bistro food. I’m not quite sure why this place is popular/famous other than it’s historic. Beef tartar was good and so was the crème brûlée dessert but nothing to rave about

Excellent food and service in a cosy atmosphere. Deco from 1800s holds up well. Looked after us with excellent recommendations and food. Some of the best Beef Tartare I've had and excellent lamb and steak options too.

We really loved our meal here - the staff were friendly and happy to answer my questions about gluten free options, there was atmosphere in spades thanks to a live piano performance + the general decor, and the food was simple but delicious. We had the €35 fixed dinner menu, which included 3 courses.

Great food, restaurant seems to be run by a husband & wife team, who take their sweet time with everything. It's the oldest restaurant in Montmartre, so pretty cool place. Food was good, homecooking, simple, but well cooked. However, we ordered 3 draught beer, which took ages to arrive, and we think they were actually not draught, but cans poured into glasses, because the female owner disappeared, then came back with 2 beers, not fully topped to the pint. 3rd beer took another 10 minutes to come. Only one wine from the Cotes du Rhone section was available, although 7 or so were on the list. After that, service improved though. Food came fast, was well presented and tasty. It's a quirky place to visit, with old paintings on the wall, mismatched wine glasses were used, lots of quirky bric-a-bracs everywhere. Definitely worth a visit, but don't expect fast service - at least initially. Still enjoyed it quite a lot.

How this place received such high ratings is beyond me. Onion soup was bland, escargots were difficult to remove from its shell (frozen?), duck confit was overly salty and skin is not crispy. Pity as the atmosphere was nice.

Absolutely delicious food and wine, accompanied by lovely service! Dined with my partner and friends and we opted for the 3 course menu for I believe €35, what a bargain. Would highly recommend the duck confit and creme brûlée. If you have never tried escargot before, this is the place to try. Couldn’t fault it at all - would definitely recommend visiting for high quality, cosy French dining.
