We spent a very pleasant morning with friends and their dog up in Montmartre on a 2 hour guided tour organised by a very charming girl - she took us around the various sites where artists, poets and writers lived and told us about each one. Not cheap but I recommend her...will try and find out her contact info & write up another day
At the end of which we were a little hungry...our friend knew 2 restos....both full, either no space at all or a long wait. We wandered about and went past this place...literally...we looked at the menu, not exciting, virtually empty...at 13h on a Saturday in a tourist trap, empty???
We went back and entered...they were expecting bookings but had 1 spare table. We sat down and had a longer look at the menu...and after a little discussion go/stay we decided to try it out
We each found something to eat except no starter for my partner as too many things needed or had bread and she can't take refined flour...so soupe a l'oignon, couteaux, 2 steaks (mine as usual well done please!), St Jacques and canette...followed by a cafe gourmand, espressos and a dome chocolat...washed down with a very nice bottle of rouge (picture to follow)...only just realised it was 62€ which was probably the reason we didn't have another...I would say totally exorbitant even if nice
It was all very good...and yes, a totally tender, well done steak for me...it can be done if they could be bothered...service fine...the only poor thing was the cost of the wine, its unnecessary and we probably would have had more if better priced
