The Best Hotels in Bordeaux

"The one-year-old FirstName Bordeaux, the first address of the FirstName hotel brand, marks a watershed moment for a city whose main stays reside in refurbished 19th-century mansions, offering a slightly more traditional feel. Here, the bold and modern approach to hospitality is articulated beyond its contemporary design and architecture, but in its various co-working spaces on property, deemed Mind Rooms, which can be booked at an additional cost. Sustainability is another guiding force at the hotel, specifically within the 147 rooms and suites decked in eco-designed and recycled furniture and decor and its locally sourced line of organic and vegan Oceopin products made from maritime pine seed oils. Le Boutique Hotel Bordeaux, Bordeaux, France - Explore & Book

"The rooms named after wine châteaux, the complimentary bottle of Bordeaux on arrival and the wine-themed modern art on the stunning spiral staircase all remind you that you’re in serious wine country, with world-famous estates such as Latour and Lafite Rothschild just the pop of a cork away. In fact, it was wealth from trading wine that funded the construction of Bordeaux’s elegant 18th-century boulevards and buildings, including this magnificent mansion and its palm-filled courtyard. But stuck in the past this place is not. The 27 rooms and suites neatly blend original parquet and mosaic floors with contemporary chic such as designer chairs, vast beds and chrome lighting; many have decadent in-room bathtubs or Jacuzzis, too. There’s also a 2-bedroom apartment on the top floor, with open-plan living areas and fully equipped kitchens. Downstairs is a handy wine bar where you can whet your palate in preparation for exploring local vineyards or snack on plates of cheese and charcuterie, and there are restaurants and shops all around. Culture vultures, wine buffs and couples wanting a romantic getaway will be equally happy at this haven in the heart of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. Highs You’re bang in the centre of historic Bordeaux, within walking distance of the main sights, and the city’s tram system makes getting around quick and easy The hotel building really is a stunner, with a tree-shaded terrace, beautiful wrought iron and graceful stonework Bright and spacious rooms, with pampering bathrooms and lovely touches such as hand-made macaroons, fruit baskets and hot-water bottles Blow-out breakfasts (not included in rates) with freshly made pastries and juice, plus the option of champagne brunch at weekends Helpful staff who can point you in the direction of great places to eat and arrange wine-estate visits Lows Some plasterboard and plastic fittings look distinctly ‘budget’ and let down the otherwise classy look No on-site parking, but the hotel has a concession at a nearby car park and you can stop outside to unload luggage Sound insulation is poor between some rooms. If you’re a light sleeper, avoid the lower floors The lift is small and slow (it would be impossible to fit anything more modern in this old building); pop your luggage inside, head up the stairs and you’ll probably beat it to the top Many ensuites are open-plan (enquire when booking if you’d prefer an enclosed bathroom)" - Clare Hargreaves

Le Boutique Hôtel (Bordeaux, Nouvelle Aquitaine) 10 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The phrase “design hotel” doesn’t mean quite the same thing in Bordeaux as it does in Berlin. The prevailing mood in this oenophile’s paradise is still a pretty traditional one — so when a hotel like Le Boutique promises design and luxury under one roof, it’s got a slightly bigger divide to span than the typical urban luxury boutique." - Tablet Hotels

Wonderful comfortable hotel, staff super!||Really enjoyed our short stay at the Boutique Hotel in July. Very clean and comfortable room, and staff were great. We didn't get the buffett breakfast an asked if if were possible to just order 1 egg each in the am. Figured we would order a la carte. The staff brought up two large plates of scrambled eggs, no charge at all to us. Very accommodating. Also coffee in room was super as well as the delicious cannelle and complimentary mini bar. Bed was very comfortable and nice modern bath. Love having slippers and robes too. Great place to stay extremely central and much better priced than some of the larger hotels nearby. Big compliments to the staff who were all very helpful and always willing to go above and beyond.

We had the most amazing time staying at Le Boutique Hotel Bordeaux which is such a beautiful property in a fantastic location. The room was super comfortable and all beautifully designed. The view of the rooftops of Bordeaux whilst watching the sunset from our terrace was breath-taking. We had a wonderful, comfortable and truly relaxing stay. Also, I just want to say that the breakfast was absolutely delicious and the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. What a magical place! |We were very sad to leave, so thank you again!

This is a wonderful hotel and excellent location. Very courteous staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Coming from Paris the rooms here are larger and with a very local feel and vibe. There was a spa also, but we did not use any of the amenities offered. We chose to spend our time exploring the city. We initially booked two nights and enjoyed the town and hotel that we decided to stay another night. I highly recommend and cannot wait to return.

Our stay at Le Boutique Hotel was extraordinary in every way. The hotel is conveniently located in this largely walkable city, as well as full of charm and amenities, making our 6 night stay a pleasure. Most of all, we credit the warm hospitality to the care and expertise that the staff consistently put into their efforts. Before we arrived, the concierge Paul responded to our questions about restaurants and how to best explore the region so thoroughly that we arrived with a schedule and plans for the day trips that suited us. While there, each of our experiences confirmed his ability to pair deep regional knowledge with our interests and specific suggestions were forthcoming as we enjoyed the city. We were able to make the most of every day in this fascinating and friendly region. The front desk staff were always helpful, the room was immaculate and the breakfasts were fresh and delicious, with responsive staff. This hotel is a top pick and has our highest recommendation; we would love to return.

The Hotel is super, quiet and peaceful. Staff are amazing and so helpful! The rooms are bright and airy and the beds are so comfy! Your car is collected and parked in a local carpark and dropped back for your departure. I would highly recommend for a stay in Bordeaux!

The hotel is in a wonderful location! The shopping and restaurants are easy to walk to. We had excellent service. Paul was especially helpful. He assisted before our arrival arranging transportation , a walking tour, and a visit to St. Emilion and 2 wineries. He also assisted us with dinner reservations making excellent recommendations to fit just what we wanted. The room was comfortable and quiet.

Sadly this is not a 5 star hotel. ||They advertise as having a high end wine bar; however, there wasn’t a bartender available and certainly no wine tasting. ||The staff are quite and non involved. ||The room was very nice with comfortable beds. The shower is also great

Where to begin. The hotel has many stunning architectural features. The hotel staff are fabulous, many whose names I did not capture. ||Numa is especially wonderful. Said was really great. Paul, an extraordinary concierge. The intern Manuel, who has a bright future ahead of him. The many ever so helpful young women at the desk. We met at least a dozen different staff.||The hotel provided a warm welcome to our doggie, and he was very happy there.||The room design is quite extraordinary- luxurious bed and bedding, An exquisite bath design, A lovely seating area. Nice lighting. Any nice touches,||A lovely stay all around.

Yelp
Fantastic little hotel in Bordeaux centre. Amazing service and helpful staff from top to bottom. Great little touches such as a heated water bottle in your bed as the turndown service and breakfast in your room for 2 euros extra. They also have a great wine bar and tasting service with a comprehensive wine list including of course Bordeaux but also many burgundy choices. They also have a pillow menu with 5 different pillows. The staff were superb. They seemed willing to do anything to make our stay amazing.

Yelp
This hotel is a hidden gem in Bordeaux. Super close to everything, the property itself is elegant, and the staff is beyond amazing! Everyone was so accommodating to ensure our stay at the hotel and in Bordeaux was the perfect experience. The restaraunt inside the hotel is also great and the perfect spot to grab a quick bite and a glass of wine before exploring Bordeaux.

Yelp
This centuries-old building was renovated into its current use as a boutique hotel about 5 years ago. Since then it has garnered the highest reviews amongst hotels in Bordeaux on TripAdvisor and the major travel sites. After staying there for several evenings, I'm honestly not sure why that is the case. It appears the hotel has about 25 rooms. On the positive side, the location is right where you want to be, there is a great wine bar that offers evening wine and cheese tastings with a very knowledgeable sommelier for a (hefty) price, and the energetic staff is wonderful and responsive. The downside is there's only so much you can do with a 250-300 year old space to retrofit it into a luxury hotel room that is worth anywhere near what they charge. It's not a bad place, per se, I just can't imagine how this earned its ranking as the "#2 place to stay in Bordeaux." OK place, pricey for what is delivered. Next visit to Bordeaux I'll mix it up and try somewhere different.

Yelp
Very pleased with our stay. Very attentive & courteous staff, charming breakfast / dining area, room worked great and was very quiet. Can't think of what I'd ask to improve.
