Dinner, Conversation and Cognac Walking near the Sorbonne in the 5th District we came upon Le Buisson Ardent and saw a wonderful lamb entree on the menu. We settled in for 2+ delicious hours of cafe dining, including that lamb, dessert and cognac. All accompanied by the charm and conversation of the owner and young patrons surrounding us. Highly recommend!

Dining here feels like finding a hidden gem in the heart of Paris. This is a place where the effortless charm of a relaxed vibe and welcoming atmosphere meets the finesse of beautifully crafted cuisine. Whether you're looking for an intimate dinner or a leisurely lunch, the people at Le Buisson Ardent effortlessly deliver both culinary excellence and a sense of ease that lingers long after the meal is over. This is one of those very rare places you immediately want to return to. A true Parisian treasure!

Google
Nice place to have French food. Staff is very friendly. We ordered a starter with beef which was a bit too salty. However, it came with very flavorful olive oil dressing. It would be good if there was some more salad. The shrimp salad is very good. I also ordered a mojito. It did not have enough lime😌.

I was sitting outside, ordered, and received an important phone call. I picked up, and engaged. I stood up a little away from my table to talk on the phone. As I went back to my seat to start my burger, the French manager grabbed me by my arm and pushed me away, telling me to stop making scene. I walked a couple meters outside the cafe. I came back to pay for my untouched food, the manager insulted me, called me names, including ugly and disgusting. When I asked him to treat me with respect, he looked at me and told me «  Are you a girl to be treated with respect? » To which, I left. I have never been treated with such little respect and indecency in my entire life. Yes, in Paris included. Might there even be a racial element to it since I am a young Arab woman in a very white upper class part of Paris (close to my university lol). Also to note, I am diabetic (visible devices on my arms). When I sat down to eat, I did an injection as usual, and if I don’t eat afterwards, it would lead me to fainting. The old French Manager did not allow me to take my food after my offer to pay, on the principle of « you’re too low, you don’t deserve it » (on the basis of speaking on the phone in the terrasse of the cafe??). Now, I have to find a place to eat asap before potentially entering a coma. The other waiters seemed nice and equally terrorized, so this must be a manager problem. Do not support a place where young women are violently thrown away, and where managers feel comfortable inappropriately touching your body (which is insane), for the most mundane reason. This place made me feel really unsafe.

Found this place just walking around. Very decent food. Exceeded expectations. We had the beef tartare, tuna tartare, grilled squid/octopus (polpe), pan fried tuna and ipa. They served us Evian for EUR6.5 which I was tempted to give 4 stars for service, haiya, but I should’ve just been assertive and asked for tap water instead 😅 But overall, again, much better than anticipated.

Google
Big compliment to the staff for their kindness. I came with an upset stomach and got just what I needed to finally eat again. Their soup of the day, carrott puree and mousse au chocolat were delicious and made me feel like a human again. Thank you

Google
A brilliant find! Friendly service in a traditional French bistro setting. Set menu of entrees, plats and desserts every day. Good value. Reasonably priced cocktails and wine. Food was delicious. Had a stunning Nicoise salad then salmon with potato dauphinoise. I'll ne going back before I go home!

Yelp
We had the best time at Le Buisson Ardent! We were staying in a hotel not far from here and decided to pop in for a bite. We managed to snag a table for two and had a wonderful mid-evening experience filled with delicious drinks and food. In addition to a few beers, we ordered an extravagant charcuterie board full of goodies - bread, crackers, cheese, cured meats, foie gras, you name it. It was the perfect happy hour in Paris and we loved it. We even had a chance to interact with the owner and he was absolutely welcoming and delightful. We'll for sure be back.

Yelp
Across the street from one of the campuses of the Sorbonne, Le Buisson Ardent is typical Parisian bistro frequented by faculty, students and locals. Having recently eaten at Libertine in New York I can tell you that the food here is far superior to anything that even a hot spot like Libertine is serve. The ambiance is great while the service is hurried and gruff, but you come for the food not the charming wit of the server.

Yelp
Our server was great. Lots of personality. Food was good. Soup was a cold soup which was excellent we just didn't expect it cold. Steak and burger were ok nothing to Write home about.

Yelp
Definitely a cut above the ordinary, Le Buisson Ardent is quite a special dinning experience in the Latin Quarter. Before extolling the deliciousness and creativity of the food, I feel compelled to comment on the absolute graciousness and warmth of every member of the staff from host to server. We were treated as though we might have been their most valued and oft-returning customers, even though it was our first time walking through the door. A nice feeling indeed, and excellent way to begin a delicious and leisurely meal! We began with a cold fennel soup garnished with beets, crème fraîche and two exquisitely prepared mussels. It was simple and absolutely delicious. Our other entrée was a cold shrimp tart served on a crispy, flaky, buttery wafer. Mouth-wateringly wonderful. The main courses included an artistically prepared salmon filet with sea vegetable, the poisson du jour in a heavenly broth with perfectly cooked fresh vegetables, and a classic, juicy pork chop done to a perfect medium rare, with puréed potatoes and a masterfully concocted savory sauce. But, the desserts really blew us away! Strawberries in whipped cream with leaves of white chocolate, raspberries and cream on a crunchy, buttery thin cookie, and a magnificent gooey chocolate cake with espresso crème and impossibly delicate caramel and coffee brittle. The menu is creative, the presentations are artistic and delicious, and the atmosphere is completely charming and unpretentious. Our experience there was about as good as it gets in Paris and I now highly recommend it to you!

Yelp
This place was amazing. Great little gastropub with a small, but tasty french menu. Was recommended to us by our concierge. My wife and I both loved it. She had the spinach ravioli, I had the chicken breast. Both were delicious. The potatoes gratin au finoir (spelling?) were one of the best things I've ever tasted. Service was great too, as were the strawberry candies they gave us after our meal. Definitely recommend if in Paris

Yelp
a cute small restaurant with helpful staff, quite tasty dishes. not a wide range of choices but the presentation and taste of both the entrees and the main courses was quite good. only the desserts were disappointing as they lacked flavors. not too expensive by paris standards...

Yelp
Excellent food great service. We bumped into a corked bottles of wine and the owner practically jumped to replace it no comment other than a clear desire to ensure all aspects of the meal were excellent. I've uploaded photos of the plates as the dishes were beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked! A great night out with friends over an fantastic meal. Very good service and only to ready to accommodate a larger party.

Yelp
Fabulous food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere was a lovely combination of new and old with fresco murals on the wall from the 1920s blending surprisingly well with the updated bar. The fish of the day (tuna) was perfectly cooked with a subtle delicious thyme lemon sauce. The pork casserole again perfectly done with winter vegetables. Definitely would recommend and will return to this on our next trip to Paris. Easy to make reservations online and you'll probably need them during tourist season.

Yelp
not a dining hot spot though i suspect that's just fine with habitues. a change in ownership has tweaked the cuisine from traditional to au courant. yet the ultra-cosy former coaching inn retains it's antique charm with bucolic circa 1920s murals. on a previous visit, i thought menu of bistro standards good if not standout. now kitchen melds eastern flavors in savory seasonal dishes. like recently, fried rouleaux de printemps with mint-mango sauce, country style creppinette of pork & veal with roasted garlic beans tagine and velvety passion fruit glacé artisanal. frais et bon!

Yelp
We had an excellent meal here. I had a starter of a spinach-filled ravioli. The ravioli was very delicate, and there was a tasty dehydrated parmesan cracker to complement flavor and texture. For the plat course, I had scallops which were perfectly cooked on top of risotto. Dessert was an mandarin orange gelatin/soup with a dollop of fromage blanc and a gingerbread cookie. Others in our party were happy with their dishes. Since we were a party of 8, we ordered a magnum of red wine suggested by our server which went well with the meal.

Yelp
Another visit, perhaps my fifth. Le Buisson Ardent did not disappoint, even to a Parisienne guest. The menu was creative, but with traditional elements, including a Cocotte de ris d'agneau (lamb sweetbreads). The service was impeccable as well. While technically a "bistro", this "bistrot gastronomique" is better than many Paris restaurants! The only thing to say is this -- you must have an adventurous palate. If you go with severe dietary or other limitations, you may not like the menu, but you can determine this on their website.

Yelp
Inventive but not exotic We ate here twice and were very pleased. Service can seem a bit chilly to tourists but persistent good cheer is returned. The menu is a mix of traditional and inventive but does not stray too far from well-prepared standards. The pork fillet was perfectly done and the tete de veau a bit of adventure. Still savoring the dessert tarte made with quince. Nice wine list, fairly priced. A bit off the beaten track, but only a short walk from the Jussieu metro station, which connects directly to the heart of the Right Bank.

Yelp
Our visit was in spring 2009, alas, but we still have fond memories of this gem. It's beautifully authentic; one of our best dining experiences ever, and totally unexpected. We fell into the place serendipitously, but would say it's worth the detour, if not the journey. Wonderful atmosphere; perfect food, gracious service and fair prices.

Yelp
GORGEOUS food, charming service, and the best wine I've had in all of Europe. Staff were understanding about our terrible French and also v attentive. Planning several visits to this bistro during our four day stay in Paris.

Yelp
I absolutely loved it. Great atmosphere, the waiters are warm and welcoming, and the food is absolutely delicious. Not a lot of choice on the menu because everything is fresh. The owner is a wine lover and will always be a good help when selecting the wine. He'll find the best pairing and not especially the most expensive as in other restaurant. if you haven't been there yet take out your phone and take a reservation for tonight.. you can't wait anylonger.
