Hiriketiya, Sri Lanka, Feels Like Bali Without the Crowds

"Just a minute's walk from the beach and inspired by seaside getaways in the south of France, this small property offers three unique rooms thoughtfully decorated with handcrafted wooden four-poster beds, woven rattan chairs, and lotus-shaped lamps. The suite option includes a private terrace overlooking the nearby, monkey-filled jungle." - Katie Lockhart Katie Lockhart Katie is a travel and food journalist specializing in luxury brands and hotels. Didn't really expect anything and thought that this place was all focus on view and atmosphere. Arrived early (some minutes before 19:00) and was meet with the stereotypical(?) French upnosed tierd "I'm disturbed" attitude. Didn't have any reservation and the place was close to empty, feelt like it was unconvinient to give us a table. Anyhow, we got seated and ordered drinks and glazed the menu until "dinner" kitchen opened. But - I correct myself, great food! Decent size servings. Superb service and felt like the staff loosened up, got more relaxed after some time. Maybe a hot day and all sun hade made some day exhausted marks? But anyways - Go here!!!

Called ahead to make a reservation same day with the dog, they were nice and accommodating. However we were then seated at a table with no sea view and they kept their sea view tables empty, terrible service and attitude when I asked how the fish of the day was prepared. And they don’t even have private bathrooms, kindly train the staff to be more professional because except for one they acted like they had 3 Michelin stars. 😂

Wonderful restaurant tucked along the beautiful Cap d’Ail to Monaco coastal path. Perfect spot for drinks or a leisurely lunch. Sea views from the open, airy terrace ☀️ Menu a bit pricey, but you can’t beat the on-the-path location!!

Curious to the negative reviews around this place but our experience was 2nd to none the food was absolutely perfect the setting is magnificent and the views of the Côte d'Azur are breathtaking to be perfectly honest they also offer fantastic value for money. I guess it's quite hard to please people in this region but our group had a wonderful time

Google
Phantastic sea view restaurant with fresh fish every day, good desserts and great service. The new, very professional head waiter Cyril is doing a great job to make you feel cozy already at the first visit. It's very popular because of the new management and big renovation works during winter. All tables occupied when we were there. So, better book a table 2-3 days in advance to get one for sure!

Beautiful place. Highly recommend after a Monaco- Cap-d’Ail hike. Make sure you come before 3.30pm if it’s for lunch. Also if they propose you a catch of the day, make sure you won’t be overcharged.

We turned up for a drink on a hot morning when it was closed - on the walk from Cap d'Ail to La Mala beach. The very helpful staff (owner?) was happy to serve us, and took us to their "la belle vue" corner. What's not to like!

The view was breathtaking but if you want to set exactly in front of the sea you need to make a reservation before , truffle ravioli so delicious rib eye steak was good truffle fries yum too

Yelp
Le Cabanon is a casual restaurant on the water in Cap-d'Ail. It is in a park with families playing Boules in the sand. The food and service are excellent. Surprisingly it is not all seafood. The lamb seems to be their specialty. The wine list is good as well. Disregard the older reviews for this restaurant. It is truly an enjoyable experience.

Yelp
I'm pretty surprised at all the bad reviews but I'm wondering if we just got lucky with good company in our (late) lunch party. We came here today around 14:15 for lunch and were seated in the upper level outside courtyard. The service was pretty good despite our bad French and the server's broken English but we managed. I had a simple chicken club sandwich which was well executed with toasted bread, fresh lettuce and tomato and nicely grilled chicken breast. The 2 bottles of Provence Rosé on a beautiful Mediterranean afternoon certainly didn't hurt either. Our lunch party all seemed to enjoy their food though we were all hungry after several hours on the beach. The only negative experience was a couple of tables of smokers which is not unusual in France, though. After reading some of these other reviews I'm just glad we were lucky to have a good overall experience.

Yelp
Terrible very very expensive!!! do you want to pay 13 euros for a big glass (piscine) of rose wine in a low key place while anywhere else u would pay half the Price? Then choose le cabanon otherwise go away as we did. Terribile is the right word for this place.

Yelp
We were here with a large group of about 30 people in mid-June, seated outside in the perfect evening air under the trees and pergolas festooned with fairy lights. It is right on the tip of the point so you can see all the yachts out at sea and along the coast towards Monaco. They had a fantastic jazz vocalist with a guitarist and bass player, adding to the charm. We had a fixed menu which included pate, sliced cured meats, a cold octopus and lupin bean dish, skewers of meats and vegetables, etc. A lovely meal, accompanied by the regional summer drink of rose. This place is expensive and worth it from my experience.

Yelp
We read an article about the French Riviera in Departure magazine, and the author said of all the restaurants he tried, this was the best. So we came...and we agree! This is Provençal cuisine at its best. This largely outdoor restaurant has a beautiful view, warm and welcoming staff, and the most incredible food. The tomato and mozzarella starter was served with beautiful vegetables. The grilled lamb and poached cod were perfect. The desserts were divine. The atmosphere was wonderful. We will come every trip.

Yelp
What horrible service. We went with a group of 4 and 2 kids. We sat down wondering if the place was closed. We saw a waiter, and sat down. They then told us to move on the other side until they opened the kitchen in 30 min. We picked up and moved around the corner. 45 min later we asked for a food menu and they said that it's not possible because the place is full and we don't have a reservation. The place was empty!
