I am in love with Calais so I liked a lot every experience we had there. We managed to have a late dinner in Cafe de Paris - the waiters were kind enough to let us in at almost 23:00. We had Pasta carbonara and Tartar, both were delicious. It was a little difficult to communicate in Engslih which surprised us a bit as the place gets a lot of travellers from around Europe and probably the world. I liked a lot the retro vibe of the place.🪩

We went in for a delicious meal with our family, but had a sad experience. We waited half an hour for the menu. We waited half an hour to place an order. The person next to us who ordered after us had already eaten. After half an hour, we were told that they didn't have any mussels. But part of the order was already being prepared. I wonder why the waiter doesn't know what was available, and why he warned us so late. I ordered mussels, which were not tasty. Judging by the reviews, the waiters treat customers selectively. The restaurant owners need to teach the staff that all customers are equal and important. I do not recommend visiting

We fancied a change from our usual Calais restaurants and chose to try Café de Paris, but unfortunately our visit was rather underwhelming. My partner's beef fondant was a nice piece of meat but he found the sauce very salty and the bread rather commercial-tasting. Again, my Bavette was a good quality steak and had been cooked medium as I had requested, but the Sauce Échalotte that the pleasant waitress had described was not a sauce at all but some very burnt pan fried sliced shallot dumped on top of the steak. The remaining oil in the pan was then just poured onto the plate, burnt bits included. Thankfully there was also a peppercorn sauce which I had not ordered, but which made the dish edible. It was such a shame as the meat had obviously been of good quality but I cannot understand the mentality of a chef who would present it to a customer like that, he is either not a trained chef or has completely stopped caring. He lets down his colleagues and the establishment. Never again.

Exceptional food, service, everything! Not over priced and everything was delicious. French cooking, at its finest. You will leave feeling very content and full! All the staff were so friendly and accommodated us with the language barrier, flitting between French and English (even a drawing of the vegetable that was the soup of the day for extra help!😆) Will definitely be back! Merci!!!

Haven't rated the food as we didn't eat here. The restaurant was busy and when we walked in not one staff member attended to us, we had to literally stop a member of staff to ask for a table for 2. They just shrugged and pointed to a table of 6 nearby. We then had to get more attention to get menus. Then again to order to be told there was no steak left in a rude way. So we just left. There was a noisy atmosphere and a bit pub like at the bar area which didn't make it feel like a restaurant. It is a big place with 2 floors, but they need to have enough staff to cope with the size they can cater for and train their staff better. Whilst we were waiting I noticed others also struggling to get attention and quite a lot of food left on plates, which is bever a good sign.

This restaurant opens all day till late so you will still get food served until 10pm weekdays and 11pm weekends. The beef tartare was good but the pork ribs was actually dry because the BBQ sauce is served on the side 🧐 and not over the ribs which is strange. Overall it’s a solid choice as it’s situated right in the centre of Calais. Still need to try more dishes to give a final opinion.

Very cosy French restaurant popular for the Mussels. They have mussels cooked in mustard and garlic sauce with a generous amount of wine and onions. Its a must try here. There are other options for the Mussels sauce but this one was highly recommended and lived up to the same. The fish and chicken dishes are all with a generous portion of sauce. The baked potato on the side is better than French fries or mashed potatoes. Good selection of wine and beer. Dessert look good but was too full to try. The restaurant has a good ambience and outdoor seating is available too. Service is quick and the staff very courteous.

Yelp
We missed Saturday lunch on a day trip to Calais so we're pleased to come across this place that served throughout the strict French meal times. Lovely steak and salmon dish in nice comfortable booths. Not the best Gremch good I'd ever had but solid 4/5 for this place. Mix of locals and tourists.

Yelp
Pretty glad to have found this place open at 10:30pm on a Wednesday night. Food, service and atmosphere were all good. I enjoyed the Flemish Stew and topped things off with Chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream.

Yelp
After a great day trip to the Calais area from England the family of four children and two adults arrived back in the town and searched for a place to eat. We ended up here and we're pleased we did. The service was great. The atmosphere welcoming. The children had 1 meal from the children's menu but the other three had ribs, really good, mussels, great, and fish which was also well received. The two adults had beef which was excellent. Desserts were also very nice. Only slight problem was the bill which was quite expensive but you get what you pay for. We ended up staying for over three hours so money well spent. Recommended for family's with children.
