We have been coming to this oyster and seafood cafe since about 1995, every time we have visited Nice. They have lovely large oysters, though you pay more for the big ones, same with the large prawns. We shared a plate if 1 doz oysters and 6 large prawns. We just shared a small 50 cl jug of rose. And we had dessert. The dessert of the day was individual apple tartan with ice cream. I had a floating island. Lovely, not cheap but great if you like the seafood. Total €148. There was a large queue of people sitting outside, but no one sitting inside. Bit warm inside, but we got served straight away. This is a very popular place in the tourist season. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

The seafood are fresh and full of the taste of the sea. The king prawn spaghetti is unexpectedly delicious.

Google
Magic location for Seafood Lovers. The must try and one of the best restaurants at Nice. Fresh fish and seafood, tasty dishes, friendly team and perfect service will make your experience unforgettable.

Google
I had only a day in Nice and felt like having oysters and champagne. Since I don't appreciate chichi restaurants I was happy to find Cafe de Turin. The waiter was very professional and super friendly and finally the oysters where delicious. Thank you for that lovely afternoon!

Google
A no frill restaurant that offers fresh seafood for a very reasonable price. Big fat fresh oysters and delicious lobster soup. Will come back again. Rose goes very well with the seafood. Very efficient staff so we didn’t have to wait long for our dishes. The server was fast and yet friendly. Delicious crème brûlée that had a hint of coconut taste. Very different and refreshing. They served decaf coffee which I’m delighted with.

This is a lovely establishment. Slightly on an old fashioned side but I must admit the food was absolutely delicious. Service was a bit erratic but friendly. The decor does however look quite tired.

Google
This was our first night in Nice, and we fancied some decent oysters along with some moules frites. Cafe Turin was a delightful find and had everything on the menu that we wanted. Unpretentious and clean, this was exactly the type of restaurant that we had been looking for. The food was reasonably priced, and the portion sizes of the moules were very generous. The oysters were plump and fresh and were served with fresh lemons and mignonette sauce. There were multiple combinations of oysters and seafood to choose from the menu, and we opted for the assiette degustation d'huitres. This comprised a selection of four different types of oysters, with eight in total. The maitre d' was pleasant and efficient and seemlessly managed all of the tables. He was happy to talk to us in english when our broken french failed us. One standout fun feature of the place was the two unusual statues on the bar.

Google
I had the 14€ mussels and it was very generous, a lot for 14€ and sea snails, it was good but there was some crunch inside. The service was not smiley but it was fine. 😀

Yelp
We ate here our first night in Nice. This was in walking distance from our apartment. Seated outside and our waitress was wonderful. Had the oysters, prawn and fried zucchini blossoms. Great food and ambience.

Sisi L.

Yelp
The crab and shrimps are my favorite!!! We ordered a platter so we can taste a little of everything. It's good for 3-4 adults

Melis A.

Yelp
This is an all seafood establishment right on Place Garibaldi. Nice, shaded and covered outdoor table set up overlooking the square. Menu is rather limited to all select seafood items so you really have to be in the mood for oysters, mussels, clams, etc. Service was great and friendly.

Jenn G.

Yelp
My coworker is from Nice and this was top of his list of places to eat for seafood. There was quite a wait, but oh-so worth it!! The oysters were probably the best I have ever had in my life, and the rest of the seafood tray did not disappoint at all. Literally it's been 3 months since we ate there, and I still think about those shrimp, crabs, and oysters!

Trang H.

Yelp
Amazingly fresh seafood. This spot came highly recommended by our Airbnb host for great seafood. We ordered a special #2 (oyster, medium shrimp, sea snails, etc.) and a salmon tartare and we're extremely happy. They were by far the freshest oyster and snails I've had. Restaurant is big and offered indoor&outdoor dining. Waiter brought out English menu after seeing us struggling to translate the menu to enghlish lol. Overall amazing seafood and would recommend.

Yelp
The one star is for the fact that my food was fine and that's it. Other than that, dining here was an extremely unpleasant experience. I rarely give bad reviews and I can almost always find at least something redeeming or give people the benefit of the doubt for an off day, but not this time... A friend and I were staying in Nice for a few days and since we arrived late in the evening we took our hosts recommendation for an easy meal right at the corner near our apartment. When we walked up hoping to sit outside, where plenty of others were still dining, we were snapped at and shoo'd inside as if we were bothering them just by being there. We should have left right then. We went in and were seated at pretty much the worst table in the place, some menus were slapped down and when the server came back he was basically like "ok...what do you want". We asked for drinks to start but he pushed us for the rest of our order by waving his hand and going "fine, what else." Additionally, when they were sold out of one of the specials I would have liked he didn't try to offer any suggestions at all.. just "we don't have it, we only have the other one." Forget trying to ask questions or take time to decide, or anything else.. there were no recommendations, no smiles, no thank you, no "would you like another glass of wine", no nothing... they just acted like they wanted us to hurry up and GTFO right from the start. On top of that our food took forever to arrive. I had a very simple fish and artichoke dish (anyone who cooks knows that fish doesn't take long to prepare), and my friend only had fries (also easy to throw together). Compared to the other places we ate in Nice, were most everyone was either very friendly and helpful or at the very least *polite*.. this place is a joke. Avoid.

Deanna D.

Yelp
Came here as my third choice (other 2 places were on holiday). Was seated quickly, but it took 10 minutes for them to serve me. They are crazy busy during dinner, packed to the limit. Loved the oysters. Was especially happy to see that they were so large. The flavour was very nice also. Had the tagliatelle with it (squid). The sauce was sooooo good and the pasta tasted so authentic, cooked to perfection. It was amazing. They lost a star because of the service. Though the food was prime, the service was slow and interrupted (10 minutes to get a menu, 10 for someone to take the order, 20 for the oysters, 25 for the pasta which they only put through after I finished the oysters). I was actually chasing down a server every time I wanted something. But I'm also keeping in mind that they are crazy busy and have servers taking orders and serving food. I would go back

Betty T.

Yelp
A lot of people complain about the service here, sharing experiences where they faced some sort of discrimination. I def felt a little bit of that initially from an old woman. However, a male waiter quickly made up for it and recommended some amazing wine. The service was slow but the seafood tower was satisfying. Highly recommend getting the crab which cones with lots and lots of grab roe, a delicacy not easily found outside of Asia!

J H.

Yelp
Excellent food-huge shrimp. Delicious oysters. They don't speak much english but they aren't required to. Service was excellent and its right next to a beautiful square. Ambiance check.

Edward W.

Yelp
This seafood joint has lots of outdoor seating. I'd recommend customizing your own order for the seafood because it's not any cheaper to order the premade ones. The mussels were so creamy and fatty, absolutely delicious. We also ordered the large sea snails, small oysters, and langoustine. Langoustines look like larger, fearsome shrimp and are much more difficult to peal. The large sea snails were a novelty and really really chewy. Small oysters are cheaper than the large oysters although I personally find smaller oysters tastier while large oysters have more volume. Overall, service was relatively fast.

Jen Y.

Yelp
Had high hopes, pictures looked delicious but the quality just didn't live up to the expectations. They have tons of seafood and maybe we just ordered the wrong thing but I found everything to be just a bit bland and I've def. had fresher, tastier seafood. The oysters were good but not the best I've ever had. The menu is a bit confusing and the waiters aren't very friendly or helpful. The free bread is also awful. It's cold and stale, even drenching it in butter doesn't help. Our seafood plate also came with these mini shrimp that I suppose are considered prawns but they are so tiny and hard to eat.. very disappointing, we had no idea that's what it came with due to the hard to decipher menu. The place has nice outdoor seats but don't feel bad if you skip this place..

Christine K.

Yelp
The seafood platter (we ordered both cooked and raw) was terrible. Extremely salty, and did not feel fresh. The oysters are good, but that's the only thing I recommend you try. The fish stew was inedible, we left all of it. I give this 1 star, because the price was incredibly high for the quality we got. It was extremely disappointing. Fresh seafood does not require a lot beyond sourcing good ingredients. Get the clams, lobster and crab, steam it, and serve with butter. It's very simple and hard to get wrong.

N N.

Yelp
Another tourist trap. It's a bit of a walk from the beach, so we thought it might be less touristy and a bit better quality. But, it was more incredibly mediocre food, stale bread, overpriced, and yet another waiter demanding a tip. We tip everywhere regardless, but it's in incredibly poor taste to verbally demand it at the end of a meal. Especially one as mediocre as this. You'll likely see French people dining here, but they are also probably tourists to Nice. There are great restaurants in Nice away from these tourist areas, so I can't imagine that any local would dine here. Just stay away.

Erica C.

Yelp
Seafood galore! Overpriced for the food, and you can get comparable elsewhere, but it's about the name and the experience. It's not quite a tourist trap, as locals were dining around us, but locals didn't buy the raw seafood items. Wine is ok, and great price, also better choices around.

Wilhelm B.

Yelp
Wow. The best selection of seafood! There is nothing you cannot get here in terms of sea food. Spectacular! Probably the best in town. But that should not raise your expectations in terms of atmosphere and dress code. Because this place is totally casual and noisy and anything else than stylish. Try the no1 oysters and the mussels in wine.

Wen Z.

Yelp
Tourteaux crab is way too salt. Can't believe this place has so many good reviews. Don't come here.

Katie Anne N.

Yelp
EXPENSIVE!!! Not sure what the hype is but was not worth the 75 euro we spent on a dozen oysters, 6 medium prawns and 1 king crab leg. Orders are based on size. Small, medium or large or 1, 2, 3. I've had better/fresher seafood. However, it seems as if this place was the only place in Nice that served seafood. We were still hungry after that we went to go get a second dinner! I would not recommend but if you're hankering for some seafood, then this is your best bet.

Lan D.

Yelp
6 tiger shrimp, each the size of a lobster plus one lobster and a coup de vin de Provincial. I had to sleep two Days just to savor the splendor of that meal. Recommended by Hotel Ellington.

Ali J.

Yelp
This spot was a big disappointment. Oysters were large, yes, but tasted very average. They weren't BAD oysters, but it does not live to the hype whatsoever. Calamari were tough and over cooked -- and the prawns were also not up to snuff. In addition, the menu although large, is limited to mostly cold Seafood items. They have no salads, minimal Typical French dishes. If you want large oysters in Nice though, this remains the place to go.

Christoph E.

Yelp
We wanted to try real french seafood, while our visit in Nice. What we experienced there was an unbelievable arrogant and rude service. First, the staff didn´t even note us (there were only a few guests). Then he finally took our order. He didn´t even try to talk in english to us (I speak only a few words french). And I can´t believe that nobody in this restaurant speaks english to help us with our order. The food we got was okay, nothing really special.

Houman D.

Yelp
A seafood mecca. Where you come for huge shellfish platters at such reasonable prices

Enny T.

Yelp
This is a great place to grab some seafood in Nice. The seafood is very fresh and it is a great place for friends or family to grab a seafood platter to enjoy and have a good time. If you go, you should definitely grab a seafood platter instead of the a la carte dishes. Although they're delicious as well, the seafood platter is way more worth it. Generally, the price is alright and it's what you expect of a restaurant like this.

Andrew N.

Yelp
Originally we went to the old port to see if the was a seafood spot with great views of the sea. Didn't find one, the compound was between walls and buildings. Moreover the old port seafood spots had way too many hosts soliciting for business. That was red alert for me; Tourist Traps. We were looking for great food and views. No view so we left to cafe Tustin. No solicitors. Sat ourselves down and order a platter with no.3 large oysters for $41 euro. The food was great. The good thing is the food isn't overly expensive for a tourist location. You can order a la carte after you find the dish you like. But The service is slow. The make up order took about 15 minutes to come. So order right away once you feel you hadn't had enough of the food. Otherwise it will be a wait. Desserts was good too. We thought of getting gelato at a local place but decided to stay for a creme brulee.

Mikaela J.

Yelp
Avoid this please if you care about your health. My friend and I got the sea food plate for lunch. It was good but then in the afternoon we both had food poisoning.

Anna L.

Yelp
This place is mehhh. I came here with my family because my mom loves seafood, and I'd say I'd had my fair share of seafood too. We came because we passed by and it looked good. We got: cooked crab (it was okay, kinda bland), lobster (not good -- meat wasn't tender and didn't have taste), large prawn (pretty good, although I've definitely had better), and king crab leg (very flavorful, arguably the best part of the meal and would order again), fish soup (too salty and didn't taste good, left half unfinished), a hot fish dish (turbot I think? Pretty good and I liked the mashed potatoes) and crab spring rolls (sauce was good but overall not mind-blowing). The service was alright, not as bad as the reviews make it out to be. The free bread they gave wasn't very good but hey it's free. Overall, wouldn't really come back again but did fill my stomach. Was overpriced -- paid 191€ for an alright meal.

Mariah K.

Yelp
If you want the full experience of the rudest of French waiters this is your best bet. God help you if you're unsure of what to order because you will be belittled and then ignored. When we finally did order - they didn't have cheese! Aren't we in France? The plates of sea food look beautiful- but frankly it just wasn't worth it.

Jack J.

Yelp
Delicious! Stumbled by this seafood haven while looking for our last dinner in Nice. We were craving mussels and lucky for us they had two styles tonight, both delicious. We started with oysters (no. 2) which were huge to our New England/east coast expectations. Such a great night! Waiter was wonderful too, with great (and fairly priced) wine suggestions to complement our dinner.

Jannica R.

Yelp
We orders moule frites and the mussels where without the white wine broth. Fries not special at all. Kind of expensive for being nice. The staff only talked French with us.

Christine L.

Yelp
I am a slut for raw oysters. Scratch that, I'm a slut for seafood in general. Cafe de Turin was recommended to me by a local, saying that most people go to Turin for good seafood. So I immediately strapped on my eating pants and made a B-line for Garibaldi Square. In my stay in France I had a few issues with the quality of service (A rude Frenchman?! Well! I Never!) but here the waitress was patient and explained that she only spoke a little English and attempted to mime her suggestions to us. She even smiled at one point!! Enough about that, I had to order the oysters, which come in varying sizes. N1 is large, N2 is medium, and N3 are the smallest though I have a sneaking suspicion their quality is roughly about the same. If you consider yourself an adventurous eater, you must try raw oysters. If you are adamantly against it (like my boyfriend, who kept referring them to as "sea flavored snot balls") they do have safe cooked choices on the menu. Overall, the quality of the food was good (I expect no less from les francaises) and the service wasn't that bad. The prices are a bit high (even higher when you do the conversion from USD to Euros) and I think they raise them because it is located in a very touristy area of Garibaldi Square. Despite the prices I still think this place was worth the extra money and it was frequented just as much by the locals as it was by tourists, which is always a good sign. I would definitely say stop by this place if you're in Nice, buy a nice bottle of wine, order the seafood and eat to your hearts content.

Mike A.

Yelp
The food here was just okay. If you like oyesters, you might like it but I wasn't a fan. Also it was hard to understand the menu because it was in French and the waiters were a bit rude, not only to me but a few other patrons too. I ended up eating all the bread because that's all I could really eat and couldn't finish all the oyesters.

Isabelle L.

Yelp
This place never slows down so you will feel rushed for your meal. Yet if you want fresh oysters or shellfish this is definitely the place to go to. With so many customers in a day, no doubt you'll get the freshest stuff there is and yep it's all good. Service is efficient and "brasserie" like. A must try if you crave raw shellfish.

Katie F.

Yelp
Everyone told us this was THE place to go for seafood... Given that I am a mussels/oyster/prawn gal, off we went! I liked the displays outside of their shellfish and their menu is literally entirely seafood. There is not a beef or chicken item to be found. Selection is huge and items are fresh. Service is good. I had mussels and langoustines (prawns) and the prawns were literally 25 euros for 10. They tasted great and I enjoyed my meal, but it wasn't anything special and it was CRAZY expensive, especially converting back to Canadian dollars. I'd splurge on some of the other restaurants in the area instead personally.

William M.

Yelp
Had lunch here yesterday, nice setting on Garibaldi square Busy service, lots of locals eating which is always good. Fruit de Mer, and a plate of crevettes, all good spankingly fresh, but why oh why do they insist on including Bulots? Satans snot!

Maurizio A.

Yelp
First off: My fiancée do love seafood, I mean, she is crazy about that. And from the first time we saw this place from outside, with the oysters and the seafood displayed I knew we would end up here, one round of oysters is always necessary in France! Fines de Claire 1 for starter, and then Moules frites for our small celebration. Claire oysters are something I always look for, being a particular type of oysters a bit juicier and more consistent. Amazing. Moules frites, even if this is no mussel season, were extremely pleasant, small but tasteful, we were really surprised by them! The only bad parenthesis was about frites come separated from moules... oh come on, the dish is moule frites, you can't make me pay separate for moules and frites! Damn! Well apart from this turistic-trap fall, the place is very nice, conveniently located and with amazing raw food. Prices for fresh seafood is a bit too high, but oysters are not that expensive and moules were around 13 Euros, which is pretty usual for Nice. If you are craving for oysters, that's the place where to go! PS: The service is usual french-style serving... do not expect smiles or anything, I don't know why most of the waiters in this amazing country seems to be hostile to customers... but that's how things works! be warned!

Richard L.

Yelp
Great location on Garibaldi Square. An easy pick just for its people watching suitability. Some amazing seafood platters on offer, for suitably breathtaking prices. Have no illusions - this is no bargain. I went for a half dozen Fines de Claires #1 and was not disappointed. A fresh salty mouthful of the Atlantic while sitting on the Med. Despite the prices it was very busy, with a mix of locals and tourists. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. I will be back before I leave.

Div Y.

Yelp
The seafood platter is affordable and fresh. If all you need is food, I would recommend this place. But if you want service and food, you might need to think about it.

david w.

Yelp
Friendly, non-touristy, real. The owner told us that he has an oyster farm in Brittany, hence the emphasis is on raw seafood. Because of the crowds, I imagine that the seafood is super fresh--spouse and I certainly thought so. I had the medium sized oysters for lunch, she had the fish soup. On either side of us--folks had crab, urchins, platteaux des fruits de mar, lobster etc. I have rarely seen folks consume so much in one seating! Prices are moderate for the quality. 36E covered lunch w/ wine.main cooked courses (baked fish of various sorts) pricier.

Mahina W.

Yelp
Located in Garibaldi square, Cafe Turin had the huitres/oysters we had been searching for. Their menu consists of all sorts of shellfish, warm marinated moules/mussels, soup de poisson/fish soup, and a bunch of drinks. For shellfish, there are three size options and two type options for oyster. We ordered No. 1 which is the largest but next time I would opt for a smaller one because I couldn't even eat this in one bite! We sampled both the special and fines de claire oysters (2 - 4 euros each). The special ones are fleshier while the latter is less fleshy with a briny taste. The special ones were way better! A couple people on Yelp complained about the 'French service' but I found my waiters to be fine. They were a bit rushed especially since we arrived around kitchen closing time but they were very efficient and the food arrived quickly and accurately so I was pleased. This is not the place to go if you are looking for personalized service with a smile. It's more of a get the assorted seafood you want when you want it kind of deal. They will not come to check on you and you will have to get someone's attention for anything else you need. Definitely the place to go if you are craving some oysters and other shellfish. However, there are so salads or meats on their menu so your whole party should be okay with just a stomach full of fruits de mer!

David P.

Yelp
We spent 8 days in Nice. I was drooling every time we walked past this place and everybody had their big tower of seafood. I finally convinced my wife to go and share a few oysters on the halfshell with me. I ordered the No. 2 sized oysters...they were huge. Just go with the smaller ones. No need to have them that big in my opinion. Very delicious afternoon snack. Great servers as well.

Toni C.

Yelp
Awesome!!!!! HUGE oysters, shrimp, fish, its like nothing I've seen before. Very fresh!! Definitely delicious. A place you must dine at while you are in Nice, you will not regret it. I had the sea bass, it was tasty but the shrimp - wow!!

Asif K.

Yelp
Good fresh seafood but a bit pricey. Six large oysters couple of clams and lots of sea snails.

Pascal K.

Yelp
If you ever been in nice, you should not miss this place! If you like Seefood, there would be no better place. Nice location at the Place Garibaldi. The specialty of the house are the oysters, but all kind of mussels, lobbster scampi, etc. are recommended. Good price for what you get.

Mady T.

Yelp
You'll find locals and tourists alike in this restaurant. They have very fresh seafood and the price is not bad either. We had Panaché de Fruits de Mer Roumegous. We added a crab which really completed our meal. We also ordered the Soup de Poisson which was also good.

Jin R.

Yelp
Great seafood, especially the mixed plate and the king prawns, recommended! don't know why it is only 3 stars rating. Definitely 5 star restaurant regarding seafood. Local people told me that it is the number one restaurant in Nice serving oyster

Li Z.

Yelp
We were looking for seafood in Nice - and we found this one! We were extremely disappointed and regretted our 88+ Euros for two persons' "very quick" lunch. Full of tourists- no complains, we were put at a very ugly table on the side - not in the main hall of the restaurant. The services were so so - and the oysters...I can only say i didn't enjoy it. The scallops were not as delicious as those I had in Paris...all in all, The food didn't worth the price.

Tom A.

Yelp
Great outdoor cafe to have fresh seafood. The clams, mussels, and oysters (les huitres) are out to choose from. We sat down at 130 and were ready to order, but the theme of slow service continued (hard to find anyone in France who is in a hurry). They took our drink order around 150 and at 205 they took our food order. We ordered the No1 Fines de clauses marennes Oleron (large oysters) and the cooked mussels (moules Marinieres)(the other moules are raw) and French fries. We were told that unfortunately we missed the cutoff for the fries which was 2 o'clock. The food was excellent and we will probably be back when we are in town.

Woodie N.

Yelp
All I have to say is please check to make sure your waiter is not drunk and hates the fact that tourism is how they make money. Perhaps I'm jaded because I'm just used to being treated nicely by a waiter, but this place sucks. (And feel free to check out my reviews, I don't post sucky reviews). The waiter tried to trick us into ordering more than we wanted. When what we wanted came it tasted gross and our main courses never came. Leave it up to our British friend who called a spade a spade and said skip our main course (which never showed up) and asked for the bill. I would NEVER recommend this place. (ps - do NOT sit near the kitchen you won't want to see how they treat the food or look at their reflections). Thank god I did not end up with food poisoning! I was almost 100% expecting it.

İlayda T.

Yelp
They are amazing at what they do! Must visit, even if you don't like those kind of food, they have some great desserts ?

Jason N.

Yelp
Tourist trap, but locals go, too. Hectic place to enjoy fresh shellfish of every type over ice. Huge and mid-size sea snails, huge shrimp, oysters, tiny shrimp, middle-size shrimp, etc. etc. I came here nearly 15 years ago and returned last week and enjoyed it both times. You might have to snag down your waiter but once you do he (or she) will be helpful and my experience has been they will not try to upsell you or get you to order too much food. Though it looks crazy, there is a huge amount of outside seating so you may have to wait just a few minutes for a great outside table. In summer, you won't want to get stuck in the tiny, hot and humid inside portion of the restaurant.
