We had a plate with snails to share and for main course the entrecôte accompanied as per usual with béarnaise and fries and a jug of green salad.
The snails were perfect cooked in rich quantities of butter and green herbes, parsley and basil. Esp. the latter truly lifted the taste and this small dish is by far the best we've had in Biarritz.
Now for the main course I cannot say the same. The meat consisted of a large slice rather thinly cut which makes it difficult to cook right if you want it medium rare. It became rather laborius to chew, dry and actually pretty dull. A bit undersalted too. The béa was much too thick and lacked acidity to counter the sweetness of the butter. The fries were to my taste a bit thin, nice color, but because of the shape they also turned dry very quickly. The meal became more or less a feeling of chewing paper. The salad was ok, only baby green salad leaves in a thin mayo so nothing extra.
The whine, a bordeaux half a litre for 17 euro, meh...
This is not something to go the extra mile for...
The extra plus for finally having the french national dish - snails! - as they should be served and taste!
