I made a great choice when I booked several nights with a bunch of friends at Le Cameleon Boutique Hotel and everyone including me loved it. Accommodations are surrounded by greenery with lovely gardens. The rooms are simple with comfortable beds, all amenities and I loved the balcony. There's 3 swimming pools and their beachfront club Gigi’s with restaurant and bar close enough to feel the ocean breeze and see the waves as you look across the big lawn with lots of Lounge areas for sun or shade. I’m happy with the massage I booked in the beautiful spa area. Also there’s a wonderful gym and breakfast was included. The restaurant offers variety and food was delicious. The staff was great with everything and made us feel welcome. So many activities accessible in Puerto Viejo and so relaxing, plus short walk to nice market and different places to eat. We all want to return!

We traveled for two weeks across Costa Rica — Pacific and Caribbean coasts, 5–7 national parks, and several sloth habitats — and Le Caméléon was the best stay of the entire trip. Perfect location, a calm white-sand beach, and modern, stylish rooms with a relaxed boutique feel. The restaurant and beach cabanas are excellent and really elevate the whole experience. The highlight was the wildlife: after visiting several sloth reserves around the country, the closest and most consistent encounters were right at the hotel. We saw two sloths every single day during our 4-day stay, in the trees by the beach restaurant — feeding, climbing, and hanging out just a few meters away. Truly unforgettable. Amazing hotel, great atmosphere, and absolutely worth staying. I’d return without hesitation.

Just do yourself a favor and don’t make the mistake of staying in this two star hotel that pretends to be five stars. Where do I start? Night one: a junior suite where the AC was blowing hard directly on our faces all night. We think they had to put the bed by the door because the window was right next to the screaming kids in the pool. Night two they moved us to a room with two full beds and we are a couple so that didn’t work. Several broken things in this room but night three was the worst when they moved us to an Oceanside suite and the room literally flooded because the AC was broken and no one fixed it despite us reporting it the night before. We had several damaged items and after repeatedly messaging with no response, we showed up to request a refund (after moving to the Aguas Clara which is wonderful) and they gave us a measly 70 bucks (our flooded room was 500 a night). The beds were rock hard and the sheets were scratchy. I doubt this place will exist in another few years. On a happy note the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were there during a busy week and they did their best with the crappy facilities they have. The place is very lucky to have a nice staff because it’s their only saving grace.

We had a wonderful stay at Le Cameleon in one of the rooms with a private pool on the beach side of the hotel. The room was very large with a separate living room and an exta half bath. It was very clean, and the cleaning staff did a great job keeping it that way during our stay. There was a furnished, covered patio right outside the room, with an additional lounge area and outdoor shower by the pool, which looked directly onto the Caribbean Sea. It was very private, and a nice break from mingling with others in the resort pools, all of which were very nice and well kept. Evrey single staff person we encountered were very nice and very helpful. The massages were amazing, the restaurant and bar were great, the service was wonderful in all aspects - at the bar, the restaurant, the beach cabanas, etc. The grounds are being constantly cleaned and maintained, and there are lots of places to relax whether you want to be with other people or prefer solitude. There are a couple of really good restaurants within an easy walk of the hotel, and the hotel arranged a taxi for us to Puerto Viejo, just a few miles away. The hotel was very safe, family friendly, and we had an amazing time. I can't wait to go back!

Today I visited the Le Cameleon Beach Club with my wife. It looked very promising, overall beautiful place, there was a good vibe, not too crowded with many tables available. We took a table and after 20 minutes when nobody came to us to ask if we want something to drink of eat, we decided to leave and go somewhere else. Not even when we were going dissatisfied to the exit the waiters did not even bother to looked up and ask why we are leaving. We will never again visit this place and not recommend anybody to go. The next place we visited was not as beautiful as Le Cameleon Beach Club, but the service was 1000 times better.

Some of these reviews are so different from our experience. First and foremost, Le Cameleon far exceeded our expectations and deserve a full 5 stars. The location is great, between the hustle of Puerto Viejo and the chiller Playa Chiquita/Punta areas. Everything was only a 5-10 min ride away with restaurants and a market a short walk away. What was great about this place was the private beach across the street and the incredible staff that manages the beautiful grounds. A huge shout out to Yender at the front desk and Jennifer in housekeeping who made our stay incredibly comfortable. The place is spotless, quiet, and everyone was ready to help make our experience 10 out of 10. I can’t wait to stay again.

My stay at Le Cameleon Boutique Hotel was spectacular! A special thanks to David, Geroline, and Yender, who went above and beyond to make my stay exceptional. David’s warm hospitality and attention to detail made every interaction delightful. Geroline’s professionalism and genuine care elevated my experience, ensuring I felt right at home. Yender’s enthusiasm and outstanding service, from recommendations to quick assistance, truly stood out. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, the food was divine, and the pool area was a perfect oasis. Thank to the amazing team. Highly recommend this boutique hotel for anyone visiting Puerto Viejo.

Beautiful spot right on Playa Carmen. Our second time visiting. The food was delicious, we had the burger and the fish sandwich with fries. Service was excellent, thank you to Darren and crew for taking care of us and being so sweet with our baby! Plenty of parking, which is rare in Santa Teresa, very convenient.
