Le Capitole Hotel (Quebec City, Quebec) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Connected to a historic theater in Old Quebec, Le Capitole offers generously laid out, well-designed rooms with city views and a central location that is hard to beat. Interiors draw from the building’s Art Deco roots, with deep blues, gold accents, and crisp detailing. There is a rooftop pool and bar, a gym, and direct access to the adjoining theater. For those who like their city breaks with a little extra space and drama, this one fits the bill." - Tablet Hotels

Exception location just outside the ramparts of Old Québec. This was a 5 star property with 5 star services. Our room was a corner suite with views to the Laurentian mountains, Charlevoix and the St. Lawrence. From our balcony we could see the iconic Château Frontenac and old town. Our breakfast and lunch were excellent. There is a cozy hide-away balcony where you can enjoy a cocktail and treats from the swanky bar on the 6th floor. This was our favourite hotel stay in 2025. We would love to return! A bientôt.

Wow wow wow this is an amazing hotel the view we got was amazing, and you are steps away from old Quebec which has amazing restaurants and stores, you can walk to the citadel, The Frontenac and ever the Peir so many this to see and do or you can just stay in your room and enjoy the Bath tub with a view, the staff is amazing and can speak both languages which was great as my French was not so great. The only thing we had issues with was the wifi is public and not secure and someone was able to hack into our phones as you share with all guest so just be careful our bank caught it and locked our accounts which could have been bad had we not notice. But just something to look out for. But this is not the hotels fault there are Trolls everywhere it’s an amazing hotel

We were looking for a Hallmark Christmas hotel and this place hit the mark! The location near the gate and Christmas Markets was absolutely dreamy. Our Citadine Queen room was truly stunning although the bed was much to firm for our liking and lots of noise outside our 2nd floor window at night. The views of the gate were fantastic and a short walk every where we needed to go. The restaurant was lovely and staff friendly.

We had a large suite on the 8th floor with full amenities, amazing view and an uber comfortable bed which left us wanting for nothing. We looked down right onto one of the old city fortification walls so location was excellent to access new and old Quebec. Staff were pleasant. Concierge Israel was fantastic with great recommendations. Pool and gym were very good. Definitely stay here again when we return to QC.

Google
it was my first time in quebec city and i couldn’t have had a better experience! the hotel is beautiful and the service was really good and helpful. the hotel room had the most beautiful view, like a postcard. the appliances of the room were top quality as well. the rooftop pool is amazing and worth visiting. the entire hotel has some amazing views of the city, even the hallway. although is very close to main streets and touristy points it’s still relatively calm around the hotel, but very easy to go on foot anywhere in old quebec.

I originally left a 5 star review because the staff was very friendly, the room was very nice and super clean. It was very well located and centered. I always love a good shower and it did not disappoint. I was traveling alone for the Christmas markets and traveling solo for the first time I felt very comfortable and safe. Everything seemed to be very lovely. However when I left and got my car back from the valet something didn’t seem right. Then I drove down the street 10 mins away to stop at one last stop. So I turned the car off and that’s where the problems started. I go into the store for 5 mins come out to my check engine light on, battery light on and no power!! I didn’t know what to do since I am from the states and alone. I call the front desk and they say they will send a valet to where I am with a portable charger- they said they will be there in 10-15 mins! Great- such a relief. 45 mins later no sign of them and no call. I called back and was told the charger needed to charge and they should be leaving in about 15 or so mins then need to walk to my location. Luckily a nice stranger saw I was in distress and was able to help me. I was nervous for my 7+ hour drive but drove right to a Toyota dealership who checked the whole engine and said that everything in the car was working properly and that the valet must have left a door ajar or a light on etc and completely drained my battery. I understand that accidents happen but the valet must have realized something wasn’t right with the car and didn’t say a word to me and left me stranded for almost an hour. It now makes me nervous to leave my car with valets!! The front desk was also pretty lax when I told them what happened after I left the hotel less than 15 mins ago. I’ve stayed at many 5 star hotels and what distinguishes good versus superb is the customer service and it wasn’t fully up to par.

Overall, I had an amazing experience at this hotel. Sleeping overnight in a place with such historical significance is an experience that is hard to beat. It is interesting how you have to go to the 7th floor to get to the lobby, then go down to get to your room, but that is all a part of the charm. They make it really easy for you to explore around and realize how much heritage this building has, formerly being a theatre. The rooms themselves are standard, but what sets them apart is the air conditioning system, that is truly able to beat the heat in Quebec City. They could have easily put a lame buffet breakfast, but instead, there was an a-la-carte system at the El Teatro restaurant. Our lovely waitress was extremely attentive every morning and each option was extremely unique and tasted amazing. You could easily tell that a true culinary mastermind put each dish together like it was a dress in a fashion runway. It is hard to make food both look and taste good, but these people somehow did it, not to mention that the portions were fairly generous. I would come back here for the breakfast alone. The location is also a strong point.

Google
This is not a true 5 star hotel, it is a 3 star hotel at best. We stayed in the nicer room that included a large balcony and king bed. -You need to change elevator once and walk across the hotel in order to exit the building. I was on the second floor and it took 5 minutes to exit. This is incredibly dangerous in case of emergency. -Lack of basic amenities. The hotel did not offer hair shampoo, slippers, or fresh robes (cleaning lady took my partner's robe and did not replace it). -Lack of service. We had to request the cleaning staff to clean our room on the second day as nobody passed by. -Rude staff. The staff was mostly very young and would spend most of the day on their cells or in the back that is closed off. I would often walk in and nobody would be available. Many would not even greet clients and browse on their cell mindlessly. Keep in mind, this is supposed to be a 5 star hotel. I had better services in hostels. -Bad checkout experience. A girl named Marwa checked us out and was very rude. No greetings or basic questions such as "how was your stay". She was extremely condescending. I will advise everyone against this hotel. It was extremely overpriced for the service, amenities, and rude staff. I would advise you to hire older individuals since they tend to care about their employment. A young student that is glued to their phone is not a good look for a 5 start hotel.

Yelp
We stayed here for 3 nights before boarding a cruise ship. This is a boutique hotel with 50 rooms and 2 very nice restaurants. The staff is friendly and professional. It is very clean and decor is updated. It is walking distance to many things. We would stay there again.

Yelp
Amazing stay here! This hotel is gorgeous!!!!! I love every detail. Fantastic city views and lots of wonderful amenities. The pool is lovely and has a wonderful terrace area as well. There is a theater in the hotel, offering shows throughout the week. Restaurants available too with indoor and outdoor seating. The customer service is excellent, and the staff really goes above and beyond. Marion works at the front desk and she helped me with logistics as my flight was cancelled and I missed the first night of my stay. She was very kind and worked very hard to get the first night refunded through the third party I had booked with (Expedia). Francine is the concierge and she is fabulous too. I spoke with her on the phone and she answered many questions for me, and she booked a car to pick me up from the airport. This was a trip for my best friend's birthday, and Francine and Marion arranged for lovely tray of cookies to be waiting in our room and a sweet card for my friend. Wonderful and easy location. So easy to walk everywhere and get around. Our room was so pretty and modern, and very spacious! We had a seating area by the windows where we could enjoy our coffee. Coffee pot, wine glasses, refrigerator, safe, robes and more. Lots of storage areas too, and a desk if you need to work. The bathroom was very large too! Spacious walk in shower with glass doors. I feel so lucky that I got to stay here!!

Yelp
Lovely hotel but the only reason I think it is rated 5 stars is because of the nightly rates. No turn down service; 2 out of the first 3 days I have had to repeatedly call to get our room cleaned; bed linens were not changed until after the 3rd night. I was never contacted to see if everything was satisfactory.

Yelp
We were in QC celebrating our 27th year anniversary and decided on Le Capitole Hotel. It is a Beautiful hotel with an excellent and friendly staff throughout. Our room was beautifully designed and was perfectly clean. They also have nice amenities and restaurants on site. Best of all, it's close to everything you want to see in Quebec City. We had such a lovely stay and would definitely stay again.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel and bar. The interior décor is absolutely stunning. The views are to die for and their pool is beautiful! Definitely check out this unique pool. The service was amazing and everyone was so helpful. I will be returning soon

Yelp
We booked this hotel for our 25th wedding anniversary. Turned out to be a great facility in a great location, just outside one of the gates to the Old City. Staff is very friendly, helpful, professional. Will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Located in a ideal spot just outside the walled city. It has stunning architecture but it's view from it's 6th floor bar are the best in the city. I a must to stay or to simply have a drink!

Yelp
Spent a night at the hotel for my wife's birthday. The hotel seems newly renovated because it smelled that way in the room. Unfortunately I could not say I enjoyed the stay. As I mentioned, the smell of renovation bothered me a little. The room is small, good thing I didn't have any large luggage, otherwise I wouldn't know where to put it. They have a large window with a view of Vieux-Québec mais malheureusement, there isn't much to see and that large windows has some knocking noice all night long... As if someone is throwing out rocks to it - all night long, we couldn't sleep well because of it. Enough about the negative stuff, let's give them credits where it's due. Peoples. Yes, they are very polite, very professional, from the valet to the receptionist and even the cleaner. Super polite and nice, it's great to be greeted sincerely every now and then! Location. When I got there, I aaked the valet to keep the car outside as I might need it later... Well I ended up not needing it at all. Everything is walking distance. Dispite the cold weather, we managed to walk to the restaurant "Le Continental, my review is also up for this epic restaurant", then we walked to Château Frontenac, all within 10 minutes walking distance. During the day, there are plenty of bistros, bars and stores right around the corner. You'll love the location if you are there to explore!

Yelp
Perfect location and wonderful hotel! Staff was very helpful. Provided great recommendations for restaurants and activities will stay again.

Yelp
This hotel has a perfect location just at the entrance of old town. We were on the 6th floor and found it to be very quiet. The bed was one of the most comfortable we've had in a hotel room (king). The staff was very friendly and the champagne bar had a great vibe. The restaurant out front was excellent too.

Yelp
Very unique hotel in a great location! You are footsteps to old Quebec (which is amazing itself... but feels like a bit of a tourist trap). Each room is a very different layout due to the shape and size of the building. Out room was quite spacious with a large sitting area, and the bed next to it. A bit odd having a large jacuzzi tub next to the bed - but I guess they did the best with the layout they had. There was a standup shower in the bathroom as well. The staff was super friendly and did their best to communicate in English. They were quick to respond to any requests. Never did try the restaurant (you can order from it for room service as well) however the menu looked good. Overall for the price and location you cannot go wrong here!

Yelp
Don't be confused and turn away from Le Capitale because you think it is a theater instead of your hotel. This turn of the century theater has been converted into a hotel in one of the most interesting remodeling jobs. There is still a theater as well as a restaurant on the ground, but back behind the front desk is the hotel. The rooms are really unique, two floors with the living room and bathroom downstairs and the bedroom up in a loft. They are by no means huge, but are very homey and comfortable. The bathroom is very quaint with a clawfoot tub. The wifi is also super fast. The location is great, a quick walk through the old city walls into the historical district. It's a small town, so from the hotel you can pretty much get anywhere within about 15 minutes. Parking is valet only, but they are pretty quick to retrieve for you.

Yelp
Booked our room at The El Capitole Hotel in Quebec City as their theater was hosting Melissa Etheridge in concert last week. Perfect. Hotel and venue plus bar and restaurant on site as well. I became a little concerned when checking in at the very tiny lobby. It was almost charming with its theater seats and red decor but it didn't quite "pop" in person as much as in the online photos. Hate when that happens. I would suggest to hotel management that the lobby does indeed need some sparkle and shine (and probably a little elbow grease from the cleaning staff) I found the tiny elevator very Euro- lift accurate and reliable. Bigger is not always better ;) Felt like our own private small lift that handled carry on luggage and its owners very comfortably. We never waited more than a few seconds for it and the hotel was sold out. (Noticed a few complaints about the lift online but no problem for us.) Room for improvement lies in making ones way to the lift from the front desk (2 ft ) and sharing that space with the bell staff who was visibly frustrated as he attempted to handle guest luggage. I would be remiss if I did not mention the front desk staff offer to store our luggage and take to our room at 4pm. This gave us the opportunity to head out around town early. We appreciated it very much although our bags, no doubt, added to the volume/small storage space war. Oh, boy. Upon entering our room, I immediately felt reassured that I made the right choice by booking at the El Capitole. I'm a germaphobe and probably a pain in the arse to some, but I inspect - disinfect TV remote ASAP, phone, door knobs, & bring my own seat covers and internet ordered travel disinfecting spray and while I used it all, i would have been almost okay without it. Clean, clean, clean! Bathroom was squeaky clean, bedding passed the "pube check" plus a marshmallow fluff comforter that was vibrant white and fresh smelling. The room was small but not tight, complimentary two bottles of water per day, mini fridge with all the goodies plus a little room inside for your own chilling needs, a Keurig coffee w/several different pod choices. Beautiful, deep shower/tub (wish I could take a bath in a hotel tub but I'm not there yet) with great water pressure and as much hot water as you'd like. Only thing I would suggest is to remove straight shower curtain with a roll out - as not to touch ones body. Yuck. Gross. Friendly staff at front desk. I always tip housekeeping daily, the gentleman that cleaned our room stopped by the next day to say thanks. No, thank you! Enjoyed their El Capitole Theater - front row table and Stella Artois that flowed nicely from our server and dynamicaly delicious calamari that was out of this world! Great service by staff! The young man who was our server took me by the hand and walked me upstairs when I inquired where the ladies room was. So sweet. We had dinner and dessert after the show at the Italian restaurant at the El Capitole - Ristorante Il Teatro. Beautiful atmosphere with the most friendly young people serving and Rue Saint-Jean vibe is lovely! Amazing wine list! Try the tomato bisque soup! The location of this hotel is in the heart of Quebec City. Right around the corner from shops, bakeries, restaurants, Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Québec! Lovely stay in a beautiful city! Merci beaucoup

Yelp
Certainly a unique hotel, as other reviews would say. We stayed in a suite, first floor was the entrance, sitting room and bathroom. Second floor (loft) was bedroom with jacuzzi tub. It was a little odd walking in at first because there is restaurant and theatre at the entrance, but we got over that pretty quickly. It was close to the old city, within walking distance, and during the winter there was an ice rink across the street. Valet parking was reasonable. The only reason I have not rated this higher is because the bed was very uncomfortable unless you like extra firm mattresses...

Yelp
The good news: 1. Newer furniture and fittings 2. GREAT Quebec location 3. Reasonable prices The bad News 1. Rooms are very small, and room design is very edgy, not for everyone. The tub/shower is off bedroom through an arch without a door, so if you friend is watching TV they can also watch you. Plus there is a big step down into the tub with no handles; seems dangerous to me. 2. The hallways are narrow and dark. Reminds me of mid-town Manhattan hotels. 3. TV screen is pretty small. 4. Desk help is spotty; some good, some not so good. When I was here I kept thinking I had slid down the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland.

Yelp
Stayed in the hotel, ate at the restaurant, drank at the bar. Excellent, friendly service all around. The hotel itself could use a little bit of a facelift, but otherwise, I have no complaints. Definitely would return.

Yelp
I stayed at the Hotel Capitole last month. A very charming hotel, and the staff was very nice. My room was located on the 2nd floor, and it overlooked the artillery park. The hotel's theme is "theater" so naturally, the room was decorated like a dressing room. The room itself was spacious and comfortable. Although, the "closet" only came with 3 hangers... One thing I thought was really neat, was that there are speakers in the bathroom, that are connected with the cd player / radio in the room. It was nice to turn on some jazz and relax in the tub. The hotel is located on Rue Saint Jean, just down the street from shopping, cafes, and bookstores. The Old City is so beautiful, you almost forget you're not in Europe.

Yelp
We've stayed here for 5 nights on the third floor. Our room is amazing, it is made as a loft with high ceilings, with starry sky print on the ceiling and a skylight. We oversee the wall and old Quebec. Staff is very friendly here. Valet parking. Price was $124/night, peanuts for the comfort it provides ( all attributes of the over $200/night hotel were there... bath robes, coffee, fancy soaps, service etc etc) The only reason why I did not give 5 stars is that for someone who wakes up really early it was not convenient to spend those morning hours while my partner is still in bed. The table is at the loft by the bed, so I cannot use it. And in the sitting area, a table lamp is not bright enough to read, yet if I turn on normal lights, one of them is up at the loft , making the whole area bright. Furniture is stylish but not very comfortable to sit on for a long time ( the bed is very nice though) But the whole feel of this place is fantastic.

Yelp
After walking around the Old City, we stopped here for drinks at their bar. Very cool and classy decor. Great bar area, good service. and Good drink selection. I had the L'orleans: Bombay, coulis de fraise, basil, poivre- and because it was so amazing, I had TWO. Not too sweet. Great blend of flavors. After taste left aTingling pepper sensation on tongue. Would definitely come back for more!

Yelp
This is a great location, close to old Quebec and surrounded by a wide choice of excellent restaurants. Pricing is equitable and service is quite good. Our room a nice, unobstructed view of the city and was clean. A word of caution as some rooms have a view of a brick wall. However, the design of furniture and bed leave little to comfort! Very uncomfortable chairs and one of the worst nights sleep in a hotel that I can remember.
