"The gruesome ambience of this bar offers the drinker an immersive macabre lesson in hell-bent bar-hopping. Le Cercueil was unleashed onto the world in 1974 following the release of the horror movie, “The Exorcist.” The decor, featuring grim reapers and dark skeletons, creates a morbid atmosphere in this unique tavern. The only thing creepier than placing your skull-shaped beer mug on a coffin is the nomenclature of the cocktails. Sit back and sip on your choice of corpse juice, devil’s sperm, and vampire blood. The bar offers a speed-dating service but beware, the ultraviolet neon lights give potential lovers an eerie corpse-like appearance. "Le Cercueil" in Brussels, Belgium, is a bar unlike any other. As you step inside, you're transported to a world where macabre meets merriment. The decor, inspired by the theme of a coffin, is both eerie and enchanting, creating an ambiance that is uniquely captivating. But it's not just the decor that sets "Le Cercueil" apart – it's also the drinks. From creatively named cocktails to unique concoctions served in quirky vessels, each drink is a work of art designed to surprise and delight. Whether you're sipping on a "Graveyard Gimlet" or indulging in a "Corpse Reviver," the drinks at "Le Cercueil" are as entertaining as they are delicious. But beyond the decor and the drinks, what truly sets "Le Cercueil" apart is its atmosphere. It's a place where laughter mingles with the faint sound of creaking coffins, where strangers become friends over shared stories and shared drinks. It's a haunt where every visit promises an unforgettable experience that lingers long after the last sip is taken

Very particular place with great creepy atmosphere, cool decorations, good music and tasty cocktails. If you are a lover of dark creepy things, this place is definitely a must visit!

Very fun gothic vibe with good music fitting to the decor. Nice service. The cocktails all have names changed to fit as well. Not a lot of alcohol in them tho.

This was my favorite spot on my Brussels vacation. Even came back multiple times. I loved the heavy rock and metal music and all the decor is so fun to look at. They had a great selection of beers and other fun drinks. I will return every time I am in Brussels!

Google
One of the most interesting bars that I have visited, we had a group of 7 people and we visited on a Friday night and they managed to find us a nice seating area and provide us with great service. The atmosphere, music and the decor were fantastic, we had great memories of this place, make sure you visit them if you love rock music.

Great small place just off Grand Place. Great alone or with a small group- perfect selections on tap.

Google
Beware: "Un Crane" does NOT mean a pint. it means a €12 fancy skull cup that you MUST give a card of ID for. He will not give your ID back until you give his precious empty glasses back, OR pay him €20 each...

For food think beer! But a great bar with that Halloween atmosphere

Yelp
It's a bar, so there's that. Ok, seriously, this place is pretty cool. Like, SERIOUSLY cool. The drinks are DELICIOUS, and the names are seriously playful. A little bit freaky, a little bit playful, a little bit evil... what more could you want?! P.S. Best Service ever!!!!!!

Yelp
Overall, we had an amazing time at this cute little bar. The decor is definitely worth visiting for at least once. The drinks, however, leave a bit to be desired. The fruit cocktails were delicious, but I felt like I was drinking a smoothie, not a cocktail. Not enough liquor in them.

Yelp
Awesome heavy metal bar down a small alley right by Grand Place. Dark with great decor and good drinks.

Yelp
This is a really cool and totally bizarre rock bar. Cercueil means coffin. The display in the window shows a vampire sitting in one and coffins are a bit of a theme in the bar in general - most of the tables are mock coffins and their's death-related paraphenalia everywhere. It's very kitschy hammer-horror style, though, no need to be frightened. Unfortunately, it's pretty small and very popular with both tourists and locals. So be ready to share tables with strangers or to visit at an odd hour to try to get your own. Also, being a rock bar, it can get pretty loud but if you're a fan of rock and metal music you'll be happy. The beer selection is pretty good, although it's not one of those Brussels bars that prides itself on its enormous selection, they have plenty of good stuff on offer. The staff are cool too. We didn't stay long because it was really busy but if you're visiting Brussels I'd say you need to stop here for at least one drink - it's well worth checking the place out.

Yelp
Death metal, coffins and beer. What more to say? Interesting surroundings, with an extensive selection of caskets and skulls. And a good selection of beers as well. The power failure was a bonus feature.

Yelp
Wow from a five star review to a one... We went back after the great time we previously had to face the rudest bar tender possible. Grumpy, obsessed with his phone & threw us out because there was no toilet paper in the ladies room. I was very rude by mentioning it to him & bam we were thrown out! A complete 360 on last time...

Yelp
This place is great. Visited on a Monday night, great vibe, good service and better music. Definitely must visit if you're in town.

Tanna C.

Yelp
It's a bit kitschy but it's fun. It's one of my favorite bars in town. Bartenders are always good, plenty of great beers, and good music.

Carol W.

Yelp
How could you not like a bar whose tables are made of coffins? Though not a huge beer drinker, I have been known to imbibe it on occasion. I do know that my husband would love this place. It has a great selection of beer and cocktails (they have really interesting names). This is my fourth trip here. The service has always been good (sometimes there is no waitress so you just have to go to the bar and get the drinks yourself), but during our last visit, they were kind enough to open up the back room for our group and provided excellent service even though there were only 2 people there, no waitress, and jammed packed. Always a fun time here and good for a stop when in Brussels.

Yelp
To say I love this bar would be an understatement, but I fear if I tell you that is the best bar in the world, you'll write me off as being hyperbolic. I love Halloween and all things creepy, spooky, and goth, but this isn't exactly a goth bar, per se. The music they play rocks, literally. I've never heard Lindenmann played in a bar before, but I heard them TWICE in one night at Le Cercueil, as well as tons of Rammstein, Alice Cooper, Flogging Molly, and other rock classics. I was in Heaven (or would it be Hell?) I really adored the slightly spoopy and creppy decor. The bar staff are friendly and fun. For faster service, go up to the bar and order your drinks directly. The name is French for "coffin" and as you may have guessed, instead of your standard coffee table, there are coffin tables. Yep, you read that right: you can drink your beer out of a skull and then rest it on top of a coffin. What's not to love?

Elaine T.

Yelp
La Cercueil, which as the name suggests, has a coffin theme. Yes, your tables are atop actual coffins and the decor is very death oriented with skeletons. We went only because it was one of the must see places, but it was not at all my style and we did not stay more than the time it took to enter and turn around to leave.

Keith R.

Yelp
Okay on my trip to Brussels we met up with a friend who lives in the city, he mentioned a stange little pub just off Grand Place and we ended up here. When you enter it is very small and very, very dark. The blue fluorescent lights mean that it takes a while to adjust to the darkness! There are coffins with glass over them which act as tables. It's expensive compared with some other places in Brussels, but it is worth seeing. They have skull shaped goblets and the décor is extremely macabre. I have put up a photo of the tables up too.....one using the flash and one with the flash - check out the skeletons light sabre!

Chris F.

Yelp
This place will certainly not be many people's cup of tea. The heavy rock music and darkness would put off some people and the coffins as tables and wreaths on the walls might drive away some of the people that the music/lack of light missed. Not me though. I actually rather like the place. I think the theme is chilling, but in a good way and the music is not quite so loud that you have to yell (and inevitably spit) in your friend's ear. Like most bars in Brussels there is a good drinks selection too.

Karl C.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I's first time in Belguim, after going to a few places for beer nowhere beats the service and nowhere beats the quality of beer compared to this place

Patrick K.

Yelp
1 would give 0 stars if I could. Server was extremely rude! The peach beer was very good however so I would recommend if you go for that.

Lynn G.

Yelp
The place was a fun stop to stop and have a drink as a tourist. It's not really a bar to settle in to and have a night out. It's a great novelty.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
My husband and I go to this unusual bar every time we're in Brussels. It's a great place to escape the crowds and have a nice cold beer in a skull shaped mug. Good music and friendly bar staff.

K S.

Yelp
Lame! Struggled to give the place a two. One star for the ambiance. Which really isnt that interesting. The seating is set up for groups only. One star for the music which was okay metal music played at a volume where a conversation was still possible. There was no smoking in side the bar which would have rendered it flat ZERO. The bar tender was unreasonably slow and unfriendly. The crowd were all loud drunk males. One of the most expensive beers ive ever had outside the middle east.

Peter V.

Yelp
Use to be a regular client. Became very touristic, 3/4 of drinks not available to order, waitress doesn't know how to serve a beer or speak French or even English. Never again. Bye bye cercueil

Harv M.

Yelp
This is one of those "you gotta check it out" places. Skull shaped mugs. Coffins for tables. Friendly service. What's not to like?
