My husband and I received this restaurant as a wedding gift in July. We were quite disappointed with the service, we knew that we forgot the invitation at home so we have told the server up front and they told us “no worries, they can find us in the system”. Well after 20min, they couldn’t find it and we could fell the change in their attitude. Luckily, we were able to ask your neighbor to come to our apartment then took a picture of the invitation and sent it to us. After that, thing got better. The restaurant ambience was amazing. The food were good and we really like the wine pairing. We was just really disappointed for the service.

Dining at Le Chapon Fin is a MUST if you are visiting Bordeaux!!! Exquisite, Extraordinary, and Exceptional is an understatement when describing their food and service. This is a meal you will never forget…it’s definitely a lasting impression that remains a very special memory. ***my food allergies were taken very seriously and I appreciate the level of attention towards keeping me safe!

Absolutely best meal I have had all year. Highly recommend the Toulouse Lautrec lunch option. The veal and wine pairing are fabulous.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Le Chapon Fin. The decor hasn't changed since the 20s, and everything about the atmosphere has such a classic vintage feel. The food is great, the cheese and wine selection is divine. Recommend checking out the lunch as they have a special menu that is reasonably priced.

Very nice experience. Refined and beautiful. Exceptional indeed. British speaker waitress -(she is French- should be nicer. “She isn’t the boss” I kinda wanted to tell her) could be nicer. Canadian waiter was very nice though ;)

The whole experience was great. The food was marvelous, I had the degustation it was superb all the way to dessert. The price was worth it. I just found the interior a bit tacky with the heavy stone textured wall which didn't feel so clean, plus the carpet slightly smells old. Otherwise it's a 5 star.

I waited a week to get a table and it was worth it. This was the best meal, food and wine pairing from top to bottom I have ever had. I have spent more for less, the food is excellent and only elevated by the wine pairings. Including a very surprising inclusion of a bubbly Japanese wine. I recommend Le Chapon Fin completely.

Yelp
Thank you ! The food scene in Bordeaux is quite spectacular. I really liked dining at le chapon fin. First, it always add some magic when you are in such an historic place but they succeeded in staying modern and innovative too! The chef has a lot of ambition, creativeness and talent. Even the staff were all very attentionate and meticulous. Must-try!

Yelp
I had dinner here on Saturday night. It was completely underwhelming and my party was treated rudely. We were seated at metal tables next to service area that felt akin to sitting in an airy hallway with zero ambience. Note- all tables were metal tables. Apparently there are no tablecloths. And the lighting has the subtlety of blaring floodlights. We were brought delightful amuse bouches but the sommelier refused to serve wine until the food arrived because that was how she had been taught. A half hour after requesting wine, we further insisted and very reluctantly were served wine. We were scolded because we should have ordered an aperitif or cocktail. The amuse bouche butternut soup started was nice but nothing exceptional and the server spilled a few times without apology or cleaning up. The food eventually arrived and the crab starter was quite delicious but the brusque /rude service countered the experience. Also, the portion for the main course was minuscule. I ordered a filet and it was half the size of the typical petite filet. It was also served overdone and rather tough. In sum, my dinner and my 4 companions' was ok but not great. Certainly does not warrant a Michelin star. Ambience was awful. Food was good but not amazing. Nothing was worth the overpriced cost. The service was so unpleasant that we all wished we could erase experience from our memories.

Yelp
The food was pretty tasty but for the price you pay I would give just one star. Horrible personnel, very bad service, Long delay in serving food. Would constantly comment. The sommelier was unexprienced and suggested very bad wines with huge mark up. The weather was hot and restaurant was not air conditioned.

Yelp
I don't normally write reviews, but this place compelled me. If you don't make it to the end, my opinion is Chapon Fin is not long for this world. First, context. Our party of two visited during the off season, right before the spring onslaught. It was a Tuesday. We were literally the only table there from 8:30-10:30pm. This was the first time we have ever experienced that, which I think is pretty unusual, even in the off season for a well regarded restaurant. Next, the good. The dining room is impressive, it really is. I wish it was bustling with full tables, because it would have been a spectacle. The service was very attentive. They were quick to refill water, open doors, recommend wine, etc. I don't agree with any of the reviews critical of the service. The bad. We ordered the prix fixe with wine flight. Perhaps this was a mistake, and some better reviews were of staple dishes on the menu. This is not our first prix fixe menu, nor with wine pairings. It was not successful. Some dishes were imaginative, but not executed well (overcooked scallops, slightly burnt tasting jus, or just plain old incorrect seasoning), others were executed perfectly, but just strange (think molecular gastronomy that comes out of no where, or disparate foods that just don't work well together.) Per the wine flight, the restaurant boasts one of the largest wine lists in the area, yet I can't help but think that if I dug into it, many selections would not be available. The selections were at least fresh - mostly because we were the only people there and no open bottle would have made it until Tuesday evening from a Sunday dinner. I will give the sommelier credit for opening a few new bottles just for us. Other than that, there was nothing of note, and a few we recognized as run of the mill table wine we can purchase in New York. I guess we feel like we overpaid in wine, which we expect when dining out, but we didn't get something new and interesting, which is somewhat required, especially when traveling. Eating alone taints the whole experience, the food was never on point. The whole evening was just weird and makes us appreciate the other places we've been (which, in my glass-half-full mindset, is important to experience from time to time). I have to recommend you pass in this land of plentiful one star Michelin restaurants. If you have gotten this far, and don't believe me, please ask your concierge for his honest opinion, I am confident he will agree.
