I will confess that the stairs nearly did me in (to the front door) but it's all worth it once you enter the astonishingly beautiful old hotel! It's over 100 years old, and although not the original owner, you cannot really tell by the antique furnishings. We had the Mme Belanger suite on the 2nd floor front, and it was simply huge for the 2 of us, and so gorgeous. The bed and pillows were very comfortable in our 4 poster bed, and there were 2 couches and 2 chairs to sit on in the parlour. It was all heavenly cooled by air conditioning too, which was marvelous as it was in the 30s Celsius while we were there for 3 nights. Breakfast of fruit, cake, eggs, toast, home made jam and yogurt, plus coffee and tea, is included by the host. I enjoyed my stay very much and would highly recommend this hotel.

I have a lot of bones to pick with the Chateau du Faubourg, but all the problems could be so easily solved, and this gorgeous place would be faultless: my three stars could so easily be five. I stayed in the Library and I would have loved to read even more of the amazing selection of books. ||Some of my gripes are important, some not – but I’m putting them here as suggestions to the management, and so that future guests are aware. ||The less important ones: ||I had no idea how to use the coffee machine in the room and the pictorial instructions on it left me none the wiser – a kettle and some instant coffee (and some tea?) would be easier for us foreigners. I also couldn’t work out how to get into the garden. I don’t want the manager of a B&B to be over-chatty but it would have been nice if Philippe had taken a few moments to show me around the place, or if he had given some idea of how to contact him if necessary. He is actually very kind, flexible, and helpful but the guest needs to be proactive to discover this. ||Beware of the curtain rods as they are just jammed into the window space and fall down quite easily. On the other hand it is also easy to put them back up again. ||You will have to carry your own luggage up the steep stairs to the front door. That wasn't an issue for me with my backpack, but the people who arrived at the same time as I did really struggled. ||Then the more important things: ||The bedroom window pane in the Library was badly cracked – it was just as well I noticed it before I tried to wrestle the window open (not easy – I managed to nab Philippe as he passed with some other guests and he opened the bathroom window for me, the bedroom one being unusable) or I could have injured myself badly. ||The air conditioning is very noisy indeed and I found it almost impossible to sleep. That made my long journey home across the Atlantic even more trying than it need have been. ||And finally...the wifi is extremely unreliable. I could mostly get online on my phone, but not on my laptop. It constantly dropped which was very irritating as I was trying to work. As I so often say in my reviews: it is absolutely fine not to have wifi. But please, please, if your wifi is unreliable or as in this case almost non-existent, say so. And then your guests will know what to expect.

Excellent central location, Phillippe manager/host is welcoming. ||Quaint little 18th C building restored in traditional style. We stayed with family in the loft room, others stayed in library. Fridge in the room is little noisy at night Room was ok it was functional. Had a little seperate bathroom but was on the 3rd floor. ||Parking is included round corner on designated space for duration of visit. ||Breakfast was simple and nice with cereals, fruit, some cheese and ham. Coffee, tea, and juice. Eggs are offered with toast. ||Location is great with short walk to cafes and bars with shops and eateries and a fish and chip shop across the road. ||A short walk to Old Town a must see! My favourite of all the big cities in the region. |||On a diff note:|Not sure if my husband was imagining things but one evening when we played cards on the front balcony outside main entrance, he was just leaving our room in top floor to join us where he saw a man come from the opposite suite wearing a black top hat and suit with orange waist coat and ti. He described him as fairly young and he passed him and appears to walk hastily down the stairs towards the front door where he lost sight of him. About 9pm at night he said he was struck by his choice of clothing and when he joined us he asked us if we had seen him leave, at which we all replied, no! No one had come out of the door by us! That’s not only odd thing to occur but hey ho could be imagination

This place is amazing. It is a small hotel with a interior if it is a French castle. We have only seen one man (the castle owner) that opens the door, checks you in and out, shows the place and serves you breakfast. The busy touristic old city is on walking distance. In the weekend the street in front is only for pedestrians, which is nice. 200 meters on both sides you have excellent coffee shops, bars and restaurants that are highly popular by young locals. |Is see this hotel really as a hidden gem. Le me souviens.

We recently stayed at your B&B, which we booked based on its outstanding reviews. While the location is excellent and the rooms/suites are spacious, we were disappointed with the comfort of the queen bed. The fitted sheet did not fit properly over the mattress, which made it quite uncomfortable to sleep.||The breakfast was good, but we noticed that the attendant seemed in a poor mood on both mornings, which affected the overall experience.

From the booking, to the warm welcome from Pierre, to the stunning room, the cleanliness and the location, having been to Quebec City many times, this was our favourite! Pierre knows the history of this gorgeous building and one can tell he loves his job and is proud to be taking care of this beautiful building built in the last 19th century. The place is not only beautiful but impecabbly decorated and spotless clean. The breakfast is lovely, and the coffee a real treat. I highly recommend Le Chateau du Faubourg, surrounded by pastry shops, convenience stores, terrific restaurants and a 10 to 15 minute walk towards the gates of the old city. Merci Pierre! À bientot!

My sister and I stayed at this lovely and very unique B&B for 3 nights and we absolutely loved it! We arrived unexpectedly late our first night and our host graciously met us. There is no front desk so one must arrange a check-in time in advance. We chose the Library Room, which was really interesting with an excellent bathroom. The bed is a double Murphy bed but we (two average sized women) found it very comfortable. The room and the hotel itself is brimming with beautiful French period decor and furniture and was such a pleasure to be amongst (we both bought chandelier Xmas ornaments nearby to commemorate our stay :-) We breakfasted in a grand dining room each morning - coffee/tea, eggs to order brought to us by our host. And it has a secret back garden which can be explored upon request. It is a magical place (read up on its history on the hotel's website), perfectly situated on Rue Saint-Jean, where one can stroll down to all the great places in Old Quebec City. I highly recommend this lovely Bed and Breakfast to anyone!

Loved our stay at Chateau du Faubourg. Philippe was very accommodating regarding arrival and departure times. Daily breakfast was yummy and a great start to the day. The place was very clean. The fun de siecle decor was super spectacular. Bed was soft. It’s a quick 10 minute walk from the city gates, which was perfect for us- quiet for sleeping. There are many restaurants, markets and bars nearby if you don’t want to venture too far after a long day exploring. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
Such a beautiful bed and breakfast in Quebec. Set in a quiet area of the city, with restaurants/bars nearby and within close walking distance to the tourist sites. I highly recommend booking the Royal Suite - the room is comfortable, opulent and very spacious. As most other people have mentioned, the designated parking garage is about a 12-15 minute walk from the hotel which you'll need to get a key for during check-in. Quebec streets and parking spots are very narrow, so just be aware if you're travelling with a large vehicle.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay at the Chateau du Faubourg. Great location, walking distance to all old Quebec attractions. The decor of the chateau is amazing and we felt in Europe. The place is very clean. Our room was the Mme Belanger suite. It has a bedroom, private bath and a large living/boudoir room. Phillips our host was helpful and discrete (we love discrete host since we are visiting the city and don't need to be entertained by the B&B owner). The price was more then right for the room, after searching we felt it was the best value in the area and parking was included. When we were searching a B&B we found that very few of those in old Quebec have parking facilities. At Le Château du Faubourg parking was interior and included in the price. Next time we are visiting beautiful Quebec City we will be back at this great B&B.

Yelp
STAY HERE!! You won't regret it, I promise. I stayed in their most luxurious suite because I was treating myself for my birthday and I felt a little like royalty. It was fantastic! The location is awesome with wonderful restaurants nearby. Downtown to the old town area isn't at all taxing, where you can enjoy all the sights and sounds and flavors Quebec has to offer. Parking is a bit of a nuisance, but you'll get over that. The hospitality is superb and the breakfast is divine. You eat at a communal table and it he perfect way to catch up with fellow travelers and make plans for the day and get recommendations. Maybe even, if you're feeling brave, try out your French a bit. This really is the way to go in Quebec. The owner Tis a delight and so is the rest of the staff.

Yelp
Oh man, it was so hard finding a place in Quebec. There is not a lot of info and reviews online (not just for this place, it seems all the B&B's in Quebec) and the website was a tad outdated; but we definitely stumbled upon a GEM with Chateau du Faubourg. In fact, this is one, if not the best deal I saw for being so close to the action of Old Quebec. - Elegant, Historic, Parisian vibe. The pictures do NOT do the place justice. It is very beautiful. I found more helpful info/more reviews on Trip Advisor compared to Yelp. - VERY close to Old Quebec. Incredibly walkable, it feels like nothing! Plus, the neighborhood itself is alive with its own restaurants and shops. You are in the middle of it all. - PARKING IS INCLUDED! Once you arrive, you stop at the Chateau and the proprietor will give you a garage opener. The garage is on the street behind the Chateau, literally around the corner. It is a 3 car garage but with separate doors. - VERY reasonable price. We stayed in the Library Room because it was the only one left. It was much bigger than the pictures make it appear. It was lovely and the bed was very comfortable, even if a little small. We briefly saw into the other two rooms on the same floor and they are HUGE and definitely a little more glam. I would have loved to stay in one of those rooms as well. Maybe next time! - We stayed for breakfast on our last morning. The coffee is AMAZING (French pressed). They will cook your eggs on order, and there are many other things to choose from - meats, cheeses, fresh bread, yogurt, cereal. It was very nice. It was also the only time we saw someone else who was staying at the Chateau. - The website says it has a salon for hair and makeup but this is outdated. There is however a salon directly below the Chateau called F and Cie. They were pretty good, but not great; and did not speak a lot of English. There are other salons along the street as well, I think there was an Aveda salon. - We also ate at Le Billig (many delectable crepes) and The Hobbit (they made a great smoked salmon bagel) which are also only a two minute walk away. - When I had questions it was difficult to get someone to answer the phone, and even though I left a message my call was not returned. The best way to get a hold of the staff was via email. Two of my emails were answered within the hour. - I booked via bedandbreakfasts.com - We stayed Thursday, Friday and Saturday. My ONLY complaint was that on Friday and Saturday you could hear music until approx 3am. I am assuming it is from the bar Sacrilege, but our room was in the back of the Chateau and it was surprising we could hear it. The music was pretty low intensity, but I am a pretty light sleeper and have difficulty falling asleep with anything more than white noise. I probably would have been ok had I had ear plugs. My boyfriend had no issue with it. Bottom line: I could not find a better deal, with more bang for your buck than Chateau du Faubourg.

Yelp
Rating 3.5 stars: Great location ...walking distance to old town. Rooms range from affordable to pricey. The cheaper attic room was $135/night. The toiletries are average. The common areas are decorated w/ pricey antiques. Typical breakfast (cheese, cereal, yogurt, ham) but eggs can be made on request. The proprietor was on the quiet side and was rarely around. Later found out you can ring some doorbell since he resides at the bottom of the stairs in the kitchen.

Yelp
This was an amazing stay!! A beautiful establishment. Peaceful, in a wonderful part of town, not too touristy but close by all the tourist attractions. I stayed in the little loft room with my husband and daughter. It was our first time out of the country but the owner was so helpful and patient. The breakfast was wonderful, all of us loved it and it was satisfying. The owner would also would chit chat with us and give us little tips for our stay and different ways to get around. When we went to check out, I left to get the car and I stupidly left the interior light on and the battery was dead. I called and he even arranged for someone to come jump start my vehicle! He really went above and beyond and saved the day! I would recommend this establishment to anyone wanting to stay in Quebec City!

Yelp
Great location! We enjoyed our suite that was quite large and spacious. The decor is a must see and has a European feel to it! The breakfast was good and served in the elegant dinning-room. I recommend this place to architecture and history lover.

Yelp
Recently stayed at this B&B while in Quebec. The location is perfect, nice rooms and just a beautiful building. Very well managed and great service. Was pleased with all the recommendations made by Phillipe for restaurants in the area. For the price this was a great deal could not have been happier. Thanks again!!
