Didn’t think the staff were very friendly. I’ve been to many fancy restaurants around the world with staff who are very passionate in food and their craft but this was disappointing. Also very expensive about £200 per person. The girl with the glasses was really not friendly, I asked many questions about the wine and her replies were all one liners. Maybe it’s best the restaurant is officially closing in a few months. Doubt they are making money.Restaurant was rather empty. Being WSET 3 educated and soon diploma - I am very passionate about food and wine but this place was bad service and really nonchalant attitude…. Red flag! And way overpriced

A superb sensory discovery experience! Unusual and imaginative flavour combinations combined with a rare sophisticated honesty about the food. Prepared with precision, perfection and passion that is evident in the beautiful and delicate detail of every dish. The wines are an educational experience and discovery that greatly enhanced and complimented the food.

Booked a meal for my birthday after being intrigued after Josh's appearance on GBM. The food was amazing, we ate and enjoyed things I'd never dream of ordering myself, the wine pairing was also on point. The whole experience was enjoyable and memorable in a friendly and calm environment.

Very nice food and excellent staff. The price for tasking menu is very good to compare with other restaurants. I paid more in other restaurants and the food was much worse. The tasting menu has eight courses but you get some additional snacks so it’s probably 10-11 courses in total, plus you can get a cheese board, although I was expecting some nice restaurant made crackers not a bread to be served with the cheese board. The wine selection could be slightly bigger. I missed some Malbec in the menu but still they have quite good selection of wines starting from around £19 per bottle and they have a few quite expensive choices as well, so you should find something for yourself. They have quite nice cocktails as well e.g. banana old fashion.

Incredible. Creative food, exceptional wine pairings and one of the most welcoming atmospheres of any fine dining establishment I have visited in the country. Would highly recommend booking in here.

A fantastic evening. Food of the highest quality, making the most of some superb produce. Service friendly and unpretentious and an excellent wine pairing.

This is a hidden gem of a restaurant. The meal is like a jazz piece, great improv and preparation that is the result of great underlying skill. A small place, like an intimate dinner party with a feast of courses on a set menu. You don't get any choice or notice of what the meal is. Not a place for control freaks but if you want to be surprised, challenged and have your taste buds excited. This is the place in York.

Yelp
Came here for my gf's birthday dinner. Here are the highs and lows. - the broths they used were amazing - the macaron with blood pudding was genius - the tartar was very good - service was very knowledgeable about wine - the bread was truly perfect and the brown butter was perfection - the chef who served the butter poached scallop dropped it in the rock salt and it became too salty - the oyster had a large amount of the crushed ice one the oyster itself. Should have been served in the side. - the braised rabbit was too salty and was a bit too mushy. Awesome to see a group of young chefs pushing boundaries with food. I think once the can reign in some of the concepts, this place could be great.? Def worth going to.
