Spent four days in Bergerac and four nights at this amazing B & B. The property is so unique and has such history. It reflects the architectural vibe of Bergerac and has been so well prepared by the owners. We stayed in the top room with balcony. Quite different from anywhere we have been and enchanting. Comfortable bed, cute balcony where we enjoyed some local red wine. The hosts were wonderful, friendly and very welcoming. Beautifully prepared breakfast every day served in a cozy room with an array of interesting artifacts and other antique pieces. If you are looking for something different but comfortable and central to everything local then this can not be beaten. Alain and Nikolia are excellent hosts with great attention to detail and attentive to your needs and both speak good English. I would highly recommend that you give this place a try - you should no be disappointed. We loved it and 100% will return if we go back to Bergerac.

Just returned from a 4 night stay here. We had a fantastic time. Felt privileged to have stayed in a property of this age. The hotel is gorgeous with all the quirks that you would expect of a house this age. We had the bedroom with the balcony which was lovely to sit out on after a day out and about. Bergerac is a beautiful place to visit with lots of places to eat and cute streets to wander. There are gorgeous areas to visit in close proximity to bergerac. The owners of this property are lovely, helpful and very welcoming. We had a great break away and would like to thank them for their help and amiability. We would highly recommend

Positive: The Location of this Hotel is superb - right in the Centre of Bergerac centre; however there is a lack of attention to guest comfort and amenity. While the historic value of the house is appreciated it is not possible to relax and enjoy the environment due to the lack of attention to detail. The only blessing is that we booked in for 1 night only - hallelujah!. Negative: We were placed in the attic room - which has very low beams. There is a low beam immediately you enter the room - and another low beam directly next to the bed. Both beams caused injury to me. Upon arrival you are made to remove your shoes without warning - and they do not offer slippers. As we stayed during the heatwave, I had to climb the medieval stairs barefoot - which is not ok in this time of pandemic. The room was unbearably hot - although there is a ceiling fan it is not adequate. This hotel has historic value - and the owners will need to make real investment to bring it up to scratch - and provide better amenity to guests. It fails to deliver its promise. The Hosts do not attempt to speak to you about your stay - no friendly conversation about places to eat - we were literally shown up to the attic - no intro to a breakfast room or dining area, no access to a garden - it was poor hosting from the start..

Stayed 3 glorious nights chez Betty. The rooms were the most quirky and typical french traditional from early 1900s but updated purely for comfort , not taking any of thw history away. Betty was so hospitable, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was delicious, fresh croissants and pastries and french baguette from the local bakery every day with different fruit every day with yoghurt. Situated right in the middle of old town and a stones throw from the beautiful Dordoyne river and typical french restaurants. ||Thank you so much Betty for making our stay so enjoyable and for your help and advice during our stay. We wish you lots of happiness in your retirement in Malaga next month.

This B&B in the heart of old Bergerac is in a 400 year old building that’s been lovingly restored. In a building that old stairs are narrow and floors creak, but everything you need is provided. The rooms are large by European standards, and the WiFi is excellent. There is parking nearby. The hosts, Alain and Olivier, really add to the experience. They are both fluent in English and very personable and helpful. If you can’t enjoy a stay here you need to be at a chain hotel in the modern part of town.

You can read the full review and see a short movie about Le Colombier on the only blog for reviews and ratings refracted through the 5D Sensograph of the 5 human senses placescases. Le Colombier de Cyrano et Roxanne means the ‘dovecote of Cyrano and Roxana'. Yes, in the morning you can see pigeons on the ledges, but not a bunch of them, rather 1-2, enough to please your ears with their cooing. ...... See .... …. Very old house, with joist, dating from the 17th century, very beautiful, with blue shutters and slightly sloping on one side; Yes, that's right, the house is really sloping to the side, even inside the floor on the 1st and 2nd floor is sloping. …. Lots of decorations, bits and bobs of antique things dotted every corner, on the verge of kitsch, but just as much as it's fun and very interesting to look at them; …. The room on the 2nd floor is just like an attic - as soon as you enter you meet a beam that you have to cross over to enter. However, somehow, it does not irritate, but creates a sense of authenticity and .. playfulness. There is even a small terrace, very sweet and romantic, with a bottle of wonderful wine from the area, quiet music and a loved one makes a real Zen experience. …. The room on the 1st floor has a closet, fireplace, cute antique painted cabinet, it is large and comfortable, with separate bathroom and separate toilet, which is quite common in the region, instead of a bathroom with toilet together; …. In general, the rooms are a bit dark because of the small windows, but still, when the house was designed, apparently this was the way to protect from heat and cold, because this is the historic center of the city and all the houses around are like that. Feel …. …. The owners and the person who served us breakfast in the morning were very nice people, except that they chided us a bit about calibrating the rheostat for the heating and put them in extra electricity costs. We met all their other requirements - to take off our shoes in the hallway, to walk in socks or slippers around the house, to turn off all the lights, not to bring glasses and food in the living room, but the fact that we had raised the temperature to from 18-22 degrees, before going to bed, just because it was very cold, was obviously a problem. That's why half a heart dropped out, because you can't expect your guests to freeze when it's 6-10 degrees outside. …. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need - microwave, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, there were even 3 coffee machines - for Americano, espresso and manual Pavoni, for the greatest connoisseurs and fans of espresso. When asked if they use the Pavoni, I was told that it was for decoration, but I think that they just do not want to touch it because it was an expensive machine, and it was also difficult to handle. ............................ …. In 2 or 3 days the rooms are cleaned, sheets are changed, but if you want the towels to be changed, you should probably put them on the floor, because ours had remained unchanged. How to guess on which day to throw them on the floor, we were not sure. You better ask when this act takes place. Hear …. …. There's a Marshal speaker in the living room, and if you know how to pair it with your phone, you can play music; …. If your room is on the first floor, you can hear people moving upstairs, because the wooden floor creaks a lot, but this is part of the charm of the old house. .... Smell .... …. At breakfast there are several types of fragrant jam and homemade honey that smell great. Combined with the aroma of freshly baked croissants and fresh coffee it becomes a gourmet's dream; …. There was liquid soap in the bathroom, scented with homemade soap, and a citrus-scented shower gel for bathing; …. If you buy some nice cheeses, especially the ones that smell quite strong, when you put them in the fridge, you have to be prepared that the more times you open it, the more times the whole parterre will smell like them - but that's up-to-you and no one will reprimand you here for your pretentious choice. ......

This B&B is now under new ownership, Alain and Olivier offer a great welcome and attentive service. Breakfast is limited, but it is fresh and tasty. The location is right in the heart of the historic town and most attractions and good restaurants are just a short walk away. The old river port is just 2 minutes away. I was told that the building is more that 400 years old and it has a quaint look and feel that will appeal to many.

Comfortable and well located in the heart of Bergerac. Very ancient building and quirky interior. Close to river and lots of restaurants. Welcoming hosts. Good breakfast. No parking but plenty nearby. Airport 20 minutes drive so perfect for a quick visit to Bergerac before flying.
