Le Galinier, Lourmarin, a Beaumier Guesthouse (Lourmarin, French Riviera / Provence) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Provençal countryside is dotted with bastides, or 18th-century country houses, and while many are now used as private vacation homes, others have been turned into hotels. Le Galinier is a cross between the two. This picturesque property is sometimes rented out in its entirety, but it’s often possible to book a room for a few nights to live out the fantasy of a leisurely existence in the French countryside. Le Galinier comprises an original farmhouse and several outbuildings set in a pretty park with a swimming pool, a pétanque court, and rose gardens. Despite the old-world air, there’s nothing fussy about the place — the grounds have a charmingly wild, slightly overgrown look that feels just right, and the air is fragrant with lavender and verbena." - Tablet Hotels

Having never visited the South of France including Provence, there were high expectations heading into our trip 3 weeks ago. I knew we were going to love it but I didn't realize how much we would fall in love with Lourmarin and especially Le Galinier. From the moment we checked in, we knew we had found the perfect place for us. The property is absolutely gorgeous with trees, gardens, tons of outdoor space and a fabulous pool and cabana area. We stayed in the two story La Grange which was absolutely huge, beautiful and made us feel right at home. We didn't need to worry about anything as our kitchen came with wine glasses, bottle openers and everything we would need to make dinner after a fantastic first day we spent mostly at the Lourmarin market day which happens each Friday. We picked up wine, fresh bread, fresh cheeses and a rotisserie chicken I'm still dreaming about all of which gave us one of the most special dinners of our lives. Everything about Le Galinier provides you with a place of peace, of relaxation, of time slowing down. Breakfast each morning was absolutely delicious with fresh coffee, pastries, fruits, eggs. Honestly though, the best part of Le Galinier are the wonderful people who work hard and take care of everything. House Manager, Marie-Lise, was the absolute best host, making us feel right at home, giving us recommendations on where to eat, which villages to visit or even which local Rosè and Chablis wines to try during our visit. She was wonderful! And receptionist, Geraldine, made check in/check out and everything else we needed or had questions about so easy. Both Marie-Lise & Geraldine are warm, lovely people who made our stay even better. If fact, the entire Le Galinier team are awesome. Thank you all for the perfect introduction to Provence and especially to Lourmarin. We can't wait to come back and see you all again - and stay at Le Galiner, of course ;)||P.S. Our weekend yoga class with Christine was beyond special. What a treat!

We stayed here for two nights, which were our last two nights in France before driving to Marseilles in order to fly to Rome. The accommodation and additional cost for breakfast was expensive, but the location of the Guesthouse is excellent and within a short walking distance to Lourmarin's markets and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed walking through the market stalls and we ate at two great restaurants. Parking is provided in the large grounds and there is a great heated swimming pool, which we enjoyed, as it was extremely hot when we were there. While our ground floor suite was massive, unfortunately the only downside was that there was a family with small children staying above us and all we could hear was stomping feet through the ceiling above us. We were also surprised, considering the cost of our suite, that Lise, the hostess, was unable to make dinner reservations for us at any restaurant other than at their sister hotel's restaurant. Unfortunately, this was fully booked on our first night in Lourmarin. However, we were successful in making our own separate arrangements.

We absolutely loved our time at Le Galinier! The property is truly a slice of tranquility in our busy world. Geraldine was a wonderful host, and made us feel special. Only two minor comments...there was a gathering one night with light snacks and wine that we would have possibly attended, but were not told anything about it in advance. There was a small calendar of events on the dining table that we saw, but we weren't sure if it was something we needed to have signed up previously to enjoy, or if we could just show up. No one mentioned anything about it to us, and we returned from a day out just as it was ending. We had plenty to do, so it wasn't a big deal. And our other comment is that, while the breakfast was wonderful, it isn't worth 25 Euro/pp. Most of the other 7 hotels we stayed at either included breakfast, or at most charged 15 Euros/pp for the same quality assortment, which we feel is much more reasonable. Otherwise, everything was truly just as we had hoped! Thank you!

The grounds were beautiful and the location was excellent, right across the street from the very beautiful Lourmarin village. The rooms vary from the classic room, which we had, to what seemed to be very large and luxurious suites. Breakfast was excellent and included a buffet of pastries, vegetables, cereal and a fresh cooked omelette. Note that our room had a bath but not a shower. One reviewer mentioned that they were charged for the coffee capsules in the room but we asked and were told that they are free. The blue ones are decaf and the brown ones are regular coffee. My favorite part was the frogs in a small pond near the entrance that sang enthusiastically.

This property fits somewhere between a boutique hotel and a guest house. The three small 18th century buildings that surrounding a courtyard have been beautifully renovated in a way that preserves the historic elements while creating modern amenities. We had a family of seven people staying for 5 nights in late June to early July. (5 adults and two young children). We could not have been more pleased with the rooms, grounds and the superb staff. We stayed in Loft Blanc and Maison du Chef suites, both wonderfully decorated in an appropriate simple, comfortable manner. Overall, the food was excellent. The breakfasts were delicious and generous. On several nights a chef prepared dinners for guests which were served outside and were greatly enjoyed by the entire group. The pool was large and well maintained as were the the well landscaped grounds. ||The nearby village of Lourmarin was everything you’d want in a Provençal village. Absolutely charming.||The property was lightly staffed as a guest house, but all the necessary services were well provided.

No detail left behind. As you drive through the entry to the grounds it totally sets the stage. Peaceful. Right in the village with a 5min walk to all the restaurants and castle but secluded. The room had a loft bedroom and a kitchen downstairs. This is perfect for a romantic couple get away. However the cozy open shower to the loft bedroom takes some coordinating if sharing the room with a friend. Also note that the staircase is quite risky in design as one can literally fall through the steps on the side. This is not a kid friendly room.

That feeling- when you arrive to one of the most beautiful Provence villages and realize that you booked the most fabulous property. Beyond any expectation.
