Came her for brunch with my wife while staying the weekend in the Catskills. It's a fun place the atmosphere was very cool and decorated very fun. My wife really loved her eggs Benedict and I got a chicken bacon paninni with guacamole. I would prefer it to have been crispier and the guacamole was a little salty. I did try my wife's dish and it really was amazing. The staff was very nice and friendly. Would definitely come back and try more dishes. We also liked that the serve a nice fresh crisp salad on the side with their meals. Great touch.

I came to Hudson NY from the middle Hudson Valley. It was a hot day 99 degrees out. We came in, were seated immediately, and given drinks. The menu was diverse and great. I had a salmon sandwich, my spouse a lamb sandwich, and my mom had an awesome chicken and vegetable roast salad! The staff were attentive and welcoming. Their restroom was large and clean. I highly recommend this place.

One of the most amazing restaurants in Hudson! Perfect French cafe. Everything is good. Astrid the owner is a an absolute goddess. The specials are awesome and the rest of the menu stays the same: perfect. In summer the tables outside remind me so much of Europe!

My review got deleted so I'm posting again. We ordered 5 things, egg Benedict with salmon, French toast with grilled pineapple, a fruit smoothie and a freshly squeezed orange juice. Apparently we also ordered the French onion soup but never received it. That was charged on our bill. Price wise the food was pretty worth it, the ambiance is very retro which was nice, and the plating of the food was very well done. This place is also cash only.

It was just ok. First things first, their prices when you get there are totally different than on the website. So I think they should certainly update their menu online. The service was fine, food I found just OK the eggs Benedict with bacon which are highly recommended are very different. Maybe it was just an off order but the hollandaise sauce is like nothing I’ve ever seen it’s like a cream sauce and super thick. Eggs and English muffins were both over cooked. It was almost impossible to cut the muffin. Drinks were OK but like I said when it’s $11.50 apiece when you get there but eight dollars online that’s quite a difference I don’t think we would go again. It was $69 plus tip for 2 people for basically breakfast.

I wanted to love this place. I didn't. The atmosphere is fine. It's cute. The staff are friendly. I didn't know it was possible to ruin a fruit sweet crepe but they did. The crepe was heavy and wet and the fruit inside was just cut up melon that wasn't even ripe. Completely dry. It really was one of the weirdest things I have ever been served. I also got a banana Nutella which was the only thing I could eat. The banana was whole so it was like I was eating a bit dog or something. The third crepe was a savory one with turkey Swiss and caramelized onions the meat had a very strange taste and texture. I ordered an iced coffee .. mocha. I couldn't put enough sugar in it to make it drinkable. And to top it off, they don't accept credit cards and the ATM charged an exorbitant fee. They're is no reason to not take cards as you just simply have a posted cash price and card price. Restaurants don't have to absorb the credit card processing fees.

Le Gamin Country,(CAFE) Warren Street Hudson N.Y. Unassuming retro, antique vintage tin signs 1930 decor. French style bistro food, croque monsieur hot ham and cheese with delicious bechamel sauce, croque madame topped with fried egg sunny side,simply delicious with a side of mesclin mix and light vinaigrette. Limon crepe ,simple and delicious but a bit dry. And a side of earl gray tea completes a beautiful breakfast. The staff is attentive, professional, friendly. Don't forget the cash, no credit cards. And bring your appetite, the food will transport you back to Paris cafe for a short time.

Right on Warren street Le Gamin is a funky French Bistro. The food is fresh it’s creative it’s delicious. Perfect for breakfast lunch and dinner. It has a very fun and warm vibe. It’s not just tourists like we were. It has a strong neighborhood following. Our waiter Joe has a great disposition and the service was equally wonderful. The decor is unusual and funky with a welcoming feel. I’ll be back for sure.

Delicious quiche, coffee in a bowl, great salads. Wonderful for brunch but no reservations. Highly recommended !

Food 5/5 - Tremendous, just look at my photo. We were both in love with our meals. Decor / Atmosphere 4/5 - Very cute, would be even better in the summer Service 4/5 - we had a bad table and most of the time found ourselves talking over the counter to the server / manager. Its fine just awkward. Liquor 3/5 (Beer 2/5 and Wine 4/5) - Not a great selection, beer in particular is pretty bad, but its French so that is fairly common. Not a deal breaker. Bathroom 1/5 - One toilet, long wait. Needs another restroom for a place this size. Cash only 1/5 - Big sign and an ATM in the back but really I have to deal with those fees. How about you offer a credit card price and a cash price. Let's be fair and split the fee situation. 18 points / 6 = 3 stars

Delightful and cute French style cafe on the main strip in Hudson. Loved their pastries and the eggs Benedict was incredible! They make pretty good espresso drinks too, there was a generous amount of foam on the cappuccino. Service was friendly and helpful. Note that the restaurant is cash only, and the prices are slightly on the higher end for the area. Sandwiches and breakfast plates are in the $15-20 range. The kitchen can be a pretty slow on the weekends, be prepared to wait up to 30 minutes for your food.

A trip to Hudson would not be complete with brunch at my favorite French bistro, Le Gamin Country. The food is authentic AND delicious! During my recent visit, I enjoyed a savory crepe (choice of 3 fillings) with a side salad that was perfectly prepared and presented. The bistro has a fun atmosphere, and some of the waiters speak French. One thing to note: they only accept cash for payment, but there is an ATM inside of the restaurant.

We stopped in for a brunch last Sunday. The tables are sparse and there was no line. Hmmm. Bad sign. We asked to sit by a French door on the street, however the door was open. We asked to close it, but were told they wanted to keep it open on a brisk Sunday. Brrrr. We were moved to the back where the table and seating were bolted to the floor with an ungainly space, meaning one party had to lean forward to get eat their food. The music was loud, annoying and horrible canned re-mixes of 80s pop. There was a digital glitch so the tracks paused and skipped, Our blood pressure rises. A waiter arrived. We ordered coffee and hot chocolate, after twenty minutes neither came. Finally a different waiter came. We ordered again. The hot chocolate came cold, unsweetened. The coffee was instant for $3.50. No spoons. Or napkins. Returned the hot chocolate, which came back warm, not hot. Just unsweetened cocoa with milk. Finally the food arrived, also cold. Watery eggs Benedict. Horrible thick slab of a crepe. We ate the worst brunch food we've ever had, yelling over 1980s Muzak. When we'd finally had enough, we asked, then waited and waited and waited for the check. Nothing. Finally got up to leave, and the check for $70-plus was delivered. Cash only but they didn't have change so they just rounded up. Seriously, go anywhere but here. Drive to another town, Fast. Anywhere but here.

cash only spot with subpar coffee and crepes Food: I ordered the chocolate crepe and I do not recommend this at all. It is seriously just chocolate sauce in a soggy crepe. The other crepes ordered were actually decent- like the Nutella banana crepe and the orange crepe! They were more filled and had more substance to them. Drinks: the cafe Au lait is worth the money because of the size of the drink that you get! It's incredible that the huge mug is just a $5. The cappuccino was fine Price: the prices were fine - similar to nyc crepe and coffee shops Ambience: I ate resting retro vibes inside. Not entirely sure how it fits with the food they have but it's a fun environment Service: fine. They messed up an order and took a lot of time to get back with the new order

My $17 Beet Salad was very small with maybe a tablespoon of goat cheese. I asked for a piece of bread to go with it and was told I had to order a side of bread. Mind you, I am a very light eater. I was hungry when I left. Our waiter vanished outside, so the owner came and took our order. I've been here three times but won't return. Scrap the sign screaming "No WIFI" --that should have been a warning to me. I don't need it but what a turn off.

Great food and service. And the fresh orange juice is truly fresh. I would go back for that alone.

The past 2 recent visits here prior to the one today were 4 star. The salads, quiche, soups, coffees, desserts and service were all good and enjoyable, so we returned. But today spoiled that. We were seated at a table during a time when the cafe wasn't particularly busy. A young man who was later identified to us as the manager came up to our table and asked for our food order. When we said we were only having coffee, he went on some incoherent and unnecessary rant about how we didn't order food so he might move us or ask us to leave, i am not quite sure which, since he promptly walked away, Mind you, as we were leaving there were additional empty tables. When i told him upon getting ready to leave that it was Inappropriate to seat people and then tell them they might have to leave since they didn't order food, his unprofessional behavior continued. The coffee was good, but i was angry at the treatment, and my wife uncomfortable so that she didn't want to stay to finish her coffee. We tipped our lovely waitress $2.50, which was 20 percent , I hope that no one else has this experience. It won't happen to us again, there are many fine restaurants and coffee places in Hudson.

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars! Everyone who works there was friendly, sweet, and super helpful. The food was delicious. It has a cute vibe which fits well into Hudson. Chill ambiance, but upscale (yummy) food. Lots of great options for brunch (which is when we were there). They refilled our water and coffees frequently. When I ordered hot chocolate they even asked about how sweet I wanted it to be. Will definitely be going back!

O.k. Nothing special. I ordered an eggs Benedict dish which came out Luke warm and proceeded to cool down quickly. Not very nice. It arrived with tasty bacon, and was otherwise bland. The mashed potatoes were bland and again chilled quickly. The teeny tiny side salad was wet and again not very flavorful. Cappuccino lacked rich coffee flavor and milk foam was thin and unsatisfying. The service is perfunctory. They're off hand and make it pointedly clear that you're not to linger. Not very French in that way! If you really know what's what- this restaurant will not hit the mark, including the price to quality ratio. Nice feel to it decore -wise, but that can't compensate for mediocre in my opinion.

I'm not sure where any of the negative reviews are coming from, our breakfast was flawless, delicious and near perfection from the service to the food. This was our first time here having coming up to Hudson on a very spontaneous, quick 36 hour get away having been working 12 hour days, 7 days a week since the pandemic shut down the world. What an absolute joy to stumble upon Le Gamin for our breakfast. For starters, the inside was just adorable; an eclectic mix of retro kitchen and French knickknacks and odds and restaurant odds and ends that gives it both a welcoming and refreshing and delightful ambiance for a date breakfast or relaxing meal with a friend. We were greeted immediately when we arrived by the staff. I'm not sure if the woman who took care of us was the owner, but she certainly came across that way and was very attentive and friendly. Now we are not always the most conventional eaters -- and we also tend to order a lot -- so being able to kick off our breakfast with escargot at 9 a.m. was the kind of thing that makes my husband's heart sing. Also had fresh orange juice -- definitely the real deal -- and cappuccino and coffee. Then I had the salmon eggs bennedict, while the hubby had the traditional eggs bennedict with ham. He also had the French Toast with a side of bacon. I don't know what the secret ingredient of their hollandaise sauce is, but it had a little bit of a unique taste -- definitely not traditional -- with a bit of a balsamic vinegar drip. Whatever it was was a winner, and was refreshing twist. The hubby's French Toast was also a bit unique, coming out served with a giant grilled pineapple served in a half-cut skeleton shell of the fruit . Bizarre, unique and unexpected. (See the photo.) The FT was served with toasted almonds. I didn't have any, as it's not my thing, but the hubby was very happy with his FT, one of his favorite brunch/breakfast treats. Outside of the bacon needing to be sent back because the hubby likes his bacon soft, not crispy, which really was not their fault, the breakfast from start to finish was divine and flawless. If there was on irritation it was their cash only policy, which I didn't see posted anywhere. It should be more noticeable, so you're not having to run out to an ATM after a relaxing meal. That said, I do understand a small business like this in an area like this where coin-operated meters are still a thing for parking opting not to have to take on the fees that too often come with credit cards. And given the value and outstanding culinary delight of this place, it's a small inconvenience. A+ all the way!

Food good, service horrendous! Cool spot but the two 20-somethings serving were more interested in their phones & chatting to each other than serving the patrons.

We woke up this morning and wanted to have a delicious breakfast as it was our last dining experience in Hudson before we made our way back home. In walks LGC. Walking in it looks like a country diner. Then you hear the French music. And the lady behind the counter is squeezing fresh orange juice. (Delicious by the way.) We are handed the menus and are surprised because the entire menu is available at 9 am. Then we told the wonderful lady that we might need a larger table because we all know how Jeffrey and I order food. A LOT. She let us take a large table. I also ordered a cappuccino and the oj. Both we delicious. I could of have a gallon of the oj. It was that good. First up we ordered escargot (yes folks at 9 am.) they were delicious. We both ordered eggs benedict. I ordered the traditional, he ordered salmon. They both came out with a French style hollandaise. I forgot to ask what was in it but it was tasty. I had to add a bit of salt but other wise it was pretty good. Here comes the reason why we asked for the larger table. On the specials menu they have french toast. Now I didn't know how it was prepared or anything because the menu hadn't been updated yet because it was so early. No problem. I love FT so that's fine with me. It comes out with a quarter of a pineapple that is grilled, toasted almonds and the edges of the FT are crispy. it was so so so amazing!!! Oh and I also ordered bacon. LOL. The bacon was too crispy for me so I asked if she could change it for me and there was no problem at all. All in all I find this place to be amazing. The service was top notch. The food was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Definitely head over!! We will be back. One last thing is that they only take cash so make sure you come prepared. Or there's a ATM at the CVS two doors down. ENJOY

Feels like Paris. tastes like heaven. The service is great, the ambiance is eclectic and nostalgic. Highly recommend.

Just the cutest little bistro with added curbside tables. Adorable decor and wonderfully kind service, taking care of us and our pup who joined us for lunch outside. The food was perfect and more than we could've expected. If you ever find yourself in the area, be sure to stop in for a little slice of French heaven.

Food was great but service wasn't great. Ended up leaving after waiting thirty minutes for dessert crepes. Server didn't even apologize.

I cannot express how phenomenal my lunch experience here was- I have never felt so compelled to leave a review unsolicited. A friend and I are visiting out of town from Long Island and Philadelphia and wanted to try somewhere out of our comfort zone. She ordered the Spicey Roasted Pepper and Lamb Ciabatta sandwich and I got the Prosciutto Mozzarella Pesto Ciabatta sandwich- both were absolutely delicious, perfect portions, accompanied by dressed mixed greens which offered the perfect crisp refreshing cleanse of palette. The service was some of the fastest and warmest we've ever had, waters refilled without question and dishes cleared promptly. And then the finale: Dessert. Crème Brûlée and a classic Banana Split which was the size of a Banana Boat- both left us stunned and sugarcrazed and invited the giddiest camaraderie with other nearby guests, and that was all they needed to see and hear to convince them that dessert was no question and surely necessary to complete their meal as well! The open sliding door ambience allowed for ease of conversation between tables both in and outside the building and the decor was tastefully eclectic and really set the mood. Our party of three had great sandwiches for lunch! I thought the service was very French in style, the servers were quick and to the point, didn't ask too many questions throughout the meal, but were kind!

The current location has many wonderful elements, not the least of which are antique signs and even a couple of 1920s-style gas pumps. But that's not why you come here - you come for the food! And the food is definitely worth it. My wife had the day's special quiche. Her sister had a salad with lots of salmon, and I had a savory build-your-own crepe. All were excellent, and the portions were generous. The wait staff was friendly and knew the menu well, and the food came out relatively quickly. In fact, the only reason I can't give 5 stars is that their current menu, the one you get when you sit down, is 2 pages. That's fine, except the version of their menu that's on their website, is FIVE pages and includes a much larger selection of crepes. We were disappointed at the

Contrary to some earlier reviews, the staff were friendly and attentive. Service was appropriately paced for a leisurely brunch. Food was good - a delight to find French petit dejeuner in the Hudson Valley. Be warned - the hot drinks servings are huge!

I love this place. Can't get enough. Astrid is amazing as long as you stay on her good side . We started with the escargot which is several pieces douced in amazing basil and butter sauce and comes with some fresh crispy pieces of bread. This is the first time I tried escargot and I am not disappointed. Cannot be described fully in yelp nor missed!! Then I had the panini special which was chicken, bacon, guac, and parm. Oh my. It was thin pieces of chicken paired with bacon perfectly cooked (I'm very picky and I thought it was amazing, so really you can't go wrong). Others in my party got the special sandwich which was sweet sausage, sweet onion, thyme, fennel, mustard and parmesan and they enjoyed that as well! Such a fun and amazing atmosphere that must be experienced in Hudson for locals and for tourists. We topped it off with amazing wine throughout the meal. This place has a great atmosphere and great staff. It's an experience and a meal so don't expect to come here for a fast in and out.. although I guess takeout would also be amazing, but you just also experience the restaurant in person to get the full happiness.

Interesting to find so many reviews from Yelpers based so far away. And why are there three (THREE?) separate review categories for this single pleasant little French restaurant? So, if they were cash only that is no longer the case; credit cards are just fine. The baguettes are indeed terrific -- crunchy, tasty, just right. They are worth a trip by themselves. Our croque monsieur was delicious, and so was the salad nicoise with fresh tuna on the top. Wish we'd sampled the coffees, but then, we'll be back. They have a delightful outside dining area, but it was too darned chilly and rainy for our visit. Our server, by the way, was a joy: happy, engaged and made us welcome.

As a French, I am always eager to stop at a restaurant to support my community. Once again, it was a disappointment. First, the Orangina I ordered was expired since November 2021. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT ?? I mentioned it to the waiter and he ended up disclosing that all the Oranginas were expired and thanked me for letting him know... REALLY?? Then, I ordered the "Salade Nordique" which should be renamed "Salade Basique": two rolls of smoked salmon, a slice of portobello SOAKED in balsamic vinegar, a boiled egg and five leaves of ... Also - in a French restaurant you expect a French baguette and what a disappointment when they bring you two pieces of toast! That sucks! Overall, that was a big disappointment and I will never go back. It's not worth it PS: and they DARED asking for cash only! REALLY?

I had the most amazing crepe with sucre and lemon. So light and the lemon is so delicate. I didn't want to finish. It was like reading a good book and you don't want it to end. I never clean my plate and I did.

Delicious, authentic French comfort food in an eclectic, comfortable atmosphere. The croque madame is truly stellar, delicious ham, perfectly browned cheese, and amazing bechemal. The sprig of rosemary on top made me smile.

The owner is the Most awful rude person I ever met. You are petrified to order. She is the true meaning of the word .... Obviously the restaurant is successful however she is such an inhospitable hostess. It is shocking she made it this far. She probably is to cheap to hire enough staff as she is understaffed and I hear her bark orders at them Never again-----

My party of 4 was looking for a spot that was dog friendly and could accommodate a vegan and 2 pescatarians. WOW!!!! I had no idea I would unleash such toxic attitude from the staff for asking politely if they had vegan options. Non of us felt welcomed. I wish I would have taken a picture of the bill. It was illegible and there was the awkwardness of being aware that the price on our bill was over 30 dollars beyond the dishes we had ordered. My vegan friend ordered vegetable sandwich without the cheese and a side of mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes as well as some of our drinks arrived very late into the meal. I won't be forgetting such a terrible experience anytime soon. It really is the attitude/hostility that spoiled the experience for us.

A friend of mine recommended this place for brunch. We were in town for an event for Hudson Pride. My partner and her daughter and I went for a walk down Warren street, picked up some iced coffees and made our way here. By the time we got there, I was the only one with an iced coffee left and it was almost gone. We went to sit down at a table outside, and a server came up and shouted at us, "You can't sit there with those drinks in your hand!!! I'm going to have to throw them away!" He really snapped at us. It was bizarre. It felt hostile. I had about a third of my drink left. I could have drank my coffee in a couple of seconds. He came at us, scowling with his hand out like he was going to snatch it away. I stood up, and told him , "it's okay. I don't need to eat here." He huffed and turned away. I felt like he was treating me like I was a bad kid trying to get away with something, not a costumer coming to brunch with her family. My partner and her daughter were both upset by the way he'd yelled at me, and were like, " Why was her so aggressive about that? " there are other ways to tell people that no outside beverages are allowed. We wondered for a whole day why he'd decided to talk to us this way. It was actually kind of hurtful. I just felt like he didn't want us there, for whatever reason (because we're goth, punky, queers, don't look rich enough??? We wondered about all of this, but in the end, who knows.) Ling story short, we felt very unwanted, and gladly accommodated. We went down the street instead to a much cheaper place where the food was probably not as good , but they were friendly and welcoming, which we appreciated.

Stopped in for lunch during the week and had a pretty good experience. The online reviews seem to vary for Le Gamin, with most negative ones relating to the service. Perhaps this is due to a subtle bias against French restaurants. I can say we had excellent service from the young guy who waited on our table. We tried both savory and sweet crepes, all of which were good. For four crepes (no drinks, just water) the total with tax and tip was just over $50, so not too bad, really. The only downside was sitting in the little narrow tables by the bar. Most of the rest of the seating looks fine, but they probably want to put larger parties there. The tables right in front of the bar are tight, and the waitstaff is always wriggling past your table. Patrons at the bar risk knocking everything off your table with their coats as they walk by... Pro tips; -As many others have said, bring cash. They do not accept cards and I witnessed other patrons getting caught off guard by this.

Unpleasant from the start! I was sitting waiting for the rest of my party to arrive. When they arrived the waiter erupted telling them to get out of the restaurant with their coffee cups. I totally understand not allowing outside drinks into a restaurant, but there's a tactful and polite way to talk to customers. The spectacle and dramatic scene was completely rude, disrespectful, and unnecessary.

ZERO!! They make you select at least one star which they do not deserve. APPARENTLY I SPOKE TO A MANAGER AND THE OWNER! The rudest humans ever. I wish I could record the conversation . I am at a loss for words how completely rude entitled and condescending this visit was! I walked in and looked at a menu at a table and behind the counter ..the "manager yelled Put that menu back Put that menu back! Someone is going to sit there. Is this how you speak to a customer? It was my first time there!! I called after and this is what he said.. "yeah yeah yeah you came in and the owner was yelling to you and you walked past her !! huh? She was yelling ally me ? What? He states he said please put that menu back man. No.. he Did not. No apology for speaking like this. Never have I been treated with such rude humans. Your the manager and the owner and you flip the story and act like I was being rude ?? All I was doing was trying to see what you had to offer? This 'manager ' said the owner is right next to me and she doesn't want to talk to you? What in the world is up with this horrible place! Horrible horrible horrible! They do not know respect! I was looking for a place to grab a bite to eat not get harassed then told I started or did something to cause this behavior. I will now go onto every single review site there is. Owners. You should be ashamed.

Warning- this business is Cash only! This is not posted in a visible location, at least I didn't see it. We stopped in for coffee and dessert but we were told we could not sit down, although there were many empty tables, unless we ordered lunch. We asked for the coffee to go and they reluctantly gave it to us. They also let us let us sit outside in the 30 degree weather and gave us a plastic straw to stir our beverage- acted Ike this was all a big favor. We won't be back.

The cafe au lait was amazing! So was the quiche and croque monsieur! Such an unassuming place with mind blowing food. Would definitely revisit if I could. The highlight was the tart tartin with ice cream!

Surprised at the 3 Star rating! The food was excellent. French Onion soup & the Monsieur sandwich are reason enough to return! I sat outside but the indoor area has a great vibe. The staff was great. No complaints! Definitely give it a try!

Had an outstanding crepe salé incredibly friendly staff, very easy comfortable environment to hang out without being hassled to vacate my table. Thank you I'll come back when again in Hudson!!

Lunch today: really, really enjoyed the freshness, balanced flavors and excellent service. I had the Gamin salad, sliced cold chicken and grilled vegetables on a crisp bed of greens, perfectly dressed. My companion enjoyed the eggs benedict with bacon (of course I filched a piece!). Beautifully plated, and impeccable in every way. We began with a Kir Royale each because French, very nice, not too sweet, perfect temperature. Following the main course, our waiter suggested that we might enjoy splitting a crepe; we couldn't agree on which one, so I chose fresh orange and caramel sauce while my friend went with nutella. They were both lovely, very special, and we were glad for the suggestion. We visit Hudson almost monthly from Albany, and this is our new favorite lunch venue, for sure! Highly recommend.

I went here for brunch with my GF a few months ago. We had an omelet and eggs benedict with coffees. We really enjoyed our food and found it delicious. The staff was very attenuative and helpful. It was priced properly and we felt like we were getting a good value for our money. It is a small place so there is currently limited seating due to Covid. A couple came in being very rude and not wearing any masks whatsoever. They were acting ridiculous and being argumentative with the staff as soon as they entered. They were clearly in the wrong. The hostess tried to accommodate them but finally exhausted all options and kicked them out. People who act like those customers ruin everyone's experience and should just stay home. We were appreciative of the hostess standing up for herself and her customers.

This is my fave breakfast/brunch spot in Hudson. The food is excellent, the ambiance is great and it's a family-owned business. They have a bunch of outdoor seating now as well!

Food is good, coffee is very so-so. Service is quite good. Nice outdoor seating area. Crepes are good.

4 for brunch = $76. Important note: bring cash!!! Plastic $ is a no-no here. What an interesting place - I'm not sure if it's all by chance or meant to go with the name (which loosely translates to 'the kid'). The eclectic decor (the more the merrier mentality), is like little (or big) kids' playground filled with found objects. Whatever it is, it's very interesting and completely overwhelming. Good French-y menu, with excellent choices for everyone, but what's missing is some gf options, other than salad and eggs. We all ordered something different, and all were happy: French onion soup, quiche, some egg dishes, fruit, etc. The coffee, however, begs to be better. Our waiter was funny, the conversation was flowing, we all took some fun pics of the place (you cannot not sightsee the whole place!!), and we all left full and happy.

A group of six ate here for lunch today. Service was horrible; we were ignored at every turn. We were never greeted with a smile. We had to ask for everything: menus, drinks, setups (utensils & napkins), water, more drinks. The main food arrived two hours into our stay. The pea soup was bland and without seasoning. The food was mainly good. Ambience is drab. The one bathroom was clean. Our bill was handwritten, not itemized, and incorrect: we were overcharged by $27. Nobody apologized for anything but made lots of excuses. We got out of there in three-and-a-half hours. What a disaster. I cannot recommend. Perhaps a table for two would have better luck.

French bistro in the heart of Hudson, NY. Great crepes and the best omelette I have ever had. The coffee is excellent too.

Top line: Food not bad, staff is insanely rude and unprofessional. We've been going to Le Gamin for many years. The food is good. I want to like it there. But the staff (especially the woman who manages the place) makes that impossible. The staff plays a game, I think. It's called: Let's be incredibly rude to the clientele! We're French! (At least the woman who manages the place is). This is how we roll! After laughing for years about how offensively rude the manager is, we've decided it's just a stupid way to run a business and it's not fun to go there. Maybe the rude French schtick thing was funny at one time. 1990? Now it just seems sort of wrong and tragic - like musical theater restaurants with singing waiters. It's just not cool. The idea that the manager gets a sort of perverse pleasure from treating her customers with the utmost contempt is...tragique! Her managerial " style" spreads, of course, to the entire staff, so you get abused from all sides. You're in Hudson, NY, people! Not in Paris! You sell crepes! There are many wonderful places to eat nearby where the food is great and the staff is friendly. Why pay to be abused?

I've loved le gamin since we first moved here twelve years ago- food's great, servers are interesting and cool, it's a great space, once in a while it takes a while, but only when it's super-crowded. I'm writing though because it's important to recognize that the pandemic was tough and bad here and restaurants are in a tough position in terms of protecting staff and patrons while offering the privilege of eating out. Follow the rules, if they ask you to mask up, mask up, and for Christ's sake, don't approach a service station barefaced to retrieve your own utensils or napkins, and certainly don't act like a baby when you get (rightly!) called out for it. Have some manners. Merguez sandwich is pure fire.

It was ok. The ambience is incredibly cool, old-school gasoline pumps and signs, tin ceiling, an old snowmobile, cool all around. Servers were polite and helpful. Food was ok. We had a panini-type sandwich and a quiche (each of which came with a very small salad), and shared a croissant. Portions were a little small, and at least the croissant and quiche had been warmed up in a microwave. Learned well after ordering that it's cash-only, but they do have an ATM in the back, so in addition to our $35 bill we incurred $6 in ATM fees to eat there. The server should have announced this up front. And overall it's annoying; if you can have ATM tech in your store, you can have credit card reader tech, in fact it's much simpler! A minor thing, but my water was never refilled during our 45 minutes there. They weren't busy.

We asked to sit at an available outside table in the shade; the host rudely waved our request away (literally said "whatever, I have a table") and led us to another table in part sun. There were lots of available tables at this time, about 11am on a Friday morning - only 1 was taken. The tables are also all the same size, so you can pull chairs around as needed, but he apparently didn't want us sitting with an extra chair in the shade. He then took our order like we were bothering him. It was a 50 minute wait for the two omelettes we ordered with most of the place empty. During that time, no one checked in to refresh water or ask if we wanted another tea, as our teas were long empty before plates arrived. When it did arrive, the food was fresh and tasty and attractively plated. We had to chase a waiter down to bring us something to drink after the plates were dropped on our table. The second waiter was much friendlier but seemed to be under the direction of the very unfriendly, arrogant one. An hour for breakfast (which we ate in 5 min) was not what we expected when hoping to breeze in and out before sightseeing on our vacation. Also, it was cash only - the sign isn't very prominent and they tell you after they bring you the check. This is really a two star review, but I feel badly docking small businesses that much, as a self-employed person myself.
