Le Germain Hotel Ottawa (Ottawa, Ontario) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Le Germain has long been one of the biggest names on the Canadian luxury boutique hotel scene; no surprise that the brand’s entry in the nation’s capital finds it in top form. Its city-center location is a prominent one — it’s part of a mixed-use development along with the Ottawa Art Gallery — and the modern tower it calls home is a suitably stylish structure." - Tablet Hotels

I had an unfortunate experience at this hotel staying with family in February, in what I believe to be theft by a housekeeper. My sister and I were put into a room that had no where to hang anything. It appeared to be an accessibility room. We asked to be put into a room that had a proper closet. We were upgraded to a much nicer room without us requesting this. This room had turndown service, which I did not know existed. We were never informed that a housekeeper enters the room in the evening to turn down blinds and put out cups of tea. I had small Van Cleef earrings valued under $5,000 that I took with me on this trip. They were put in a jewellery pouch that is lined with velvet and zipped in my travel Tumi bag. This bag was on the same table that the housekeeper put out cups of tea on. We went out for the evening, and when I returned, I found out that someone without our permission entered the room. Although I was alarmed and it felt like a violation of privacy as I always deny housekeeping when travelling, and having never being told about turndown service, I tried to convince myself that it was fine. When I returned to Toronto, I opened the zipped pouch to find out that the earrings weren’t there. I felt confused and started second guessing myself if I took them. It never occurred to me, until months later that they could be stolen. They’ve never shown up. My mother called the hotel to report it and they of course denied it even though they have no evidence that it did not take place. I also filed a police report, but was told there is nothing that can be done if there is no direct video evidence of the theft taking place. I don’t make this statement of belief lightly. I solemnly believe that is it very plausible that the earrings were stolen by the housekeeper.

Le Germain is a beautiful hotel with excellent service from the moment you arrive. The front desk staff are very kind and polite, always ready to help with a smile. The doorman and valet are especially welcoming and go out of their way to make you feel taken care of, which adds a nice personal touch to the stay. The rooms are spotless, modern, and very comfortable, which makes relaxing after a long day in the city easy. The location is also perfect, with plenty of great restaurants, shops, and attractions within walking distance. The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is because our most recent visit was in a room facing the roof of another building and the room was a lot smaller than our first visit

This hotel has amazing attention to detail, right from the reception staff, down to the quality toilet roll in the bathrooms. Amenities were first class and great quality. We were there for only 2 nights but would have stayed longer. Location was also fab, within easy walking to ByWard market. Well trained, pleasant staff being top of the game. Well done. I would highly recommend.

Very clean and nice rooms. All the bad reviews from 2-6 years ago are totally wrong. From the bad reviews everything changed, nothing was like it has been written by previous guests. We really enjoyed our stay, the valet service was really good and it was no problem getting stuff out of our vehicles anytime we wanted. The beds are really comfortable and big enough for two people. The mini-bar and accessories are really well stocked and thought trough. By far the best stay we had in Canada, will definitely come again

We had a wonderful stay at Le Germain Hotel Ottawa. The staff was attentive and respectful throughout our visit. The room was beautifully designed, spacious, and offered a breathtaking view. The little touches in the room truly made all the difference. The hotel is perfectly located, close to everything we wanted to see and do, which made exploring the city incredibly easy. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who values comfort, style, and attention to detail.

All round, Le Germain is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in.|From the moment we arrived, we received the warmest of welcomes.|This was our fifth and last hotel on our Canadian tour and we stayed for two nights.|Nicodemus on reception gets the award for the most helpful explanation of the hotel facilities and places to visit in the city.|Our room was the largest of all the rooms we have had on this trip. It was really well equipped and we loved the open plan style with a spacious bathroom area.|Breakfast in the Norca restaurant was a genuine pleasure with good food and the most polite and friendly staff on both visits.|There was a very handy ice dispenser nearby and lots more facilities which we would have enjoyed if we had been staying longer.|If you need parking, just make sure you look out for the entrance to the underground car park right next to the hotel on Daly Avenue - very close to the junction with Waller Street. It's easy to miss it. Reception will exchange your parking ticket for a hotel parking ticket which works out cheaper.|Gold star to Le Germain - thank you for a very pleasant stay.

My husband and I had a great stay at this hotel. Very clean, comfy bed and service was excellent. It’s a great location within walking distance of byward market and sparks st. Shout out to Evan who greeted us immediately and parked our vehicle. Would recommend to any couple that needs that night away.

Spent one night at this hotel with my family of 4 for a short visit to Ottawa. ||The hotel was very clean, valet was quick, and the restaurant was delicious for a la carte breakfast. It’s more of a business hotel which was great as it was quiet and not overrun with families, strollers, kids, etc. no pool here. ||Short walk to Byward market, Rideau Mall, and Parliament Hill. ||We had a prestige double queen corner room, very spacious. ||Would absolutely return.

Yelp
Stayed here two night recently. The hotel feels modern and new. The lobby has a luxurious feel, high ceilings and dark interior. There are always green apples available in the lobby. The Good: High tech Rooms, there were so many switches it kind of got confusing going around figuring out which is for what light. Plenty of mood lighting and perfect lighting for when getting ready. The location was great, close enough to most downtown activities yet a little tucked away for a more peaceful environment. I do want to make a note this hotel is located right next to the shelter. To be honest that wasn't an issue for us. They kept themselves, there's always someone in the lobby so no unauthorized individuals can enter as elevator requires key. Staff was friendly from the moment we checked in, they held doors & greeted us each time. The room itself is modern, not much privacy though when it comes to shower, which is slightly tinted so when showering, anyone sitting in the room has full visuals. The bathroom floor is heated which was a nice touch. Found the bedding and pillows comfortable. The room is equipped with coffee pods & machine, creamer & milk in the fridge. Ample amount of towels and toiletries. The Ok: Though the room was cleaned, unfortunately our bathroom was not. We checked in very late so we were beyond exhausted only to come and find urine on the Toilet seat. The door was for the toilet didn't always close properly so not much privacy when it comes to that as well. Tips Overnight parking available on Daly street. (Free)

Yelp
Great find in downtown Ottawa. This boutique hotel has a modern decor. The rooms are well decorated with a view of Ottawa. The bistro and breakfast were excellent. No cheap

Yelp
I love the location: In the heart of downtown and a few minutes walk from Rideau Centre, Bayward Market and Parliament Hill. I stayed here for 2 nights. I was welcomed by the friendly staff at the reception and he explained all the new rules and COVID-19 measures, for example, I could order breakfast to be packed and delivered to my room for $17+tax and the fact that due to COVID-19, they didn't have room service and they were trying to minimize entering units while guests were staying. He also mentioned that if I'm staying more than 2 nights and I want my room to be cleaned, they will change it for me. When I got to my room, I was impressed by how specious and clean it was. It was well-maintained and wisely decorated (modern-style). Towels, washroom and walk-in shower were clean and the heated bathroom floor was amazing. My room was on the 12th floor (of the 14-storey building) and I had an amazing view of the parliament. It had a full bar and a QR code was provided on the table to scan and view the prices. The only downside is the parking. Upon arrival, I parked in the parking next to the hotel and I got my ticket from the machine. When I was checking in, I was told I will be given a parking voucher for my stay. But when I was checking out, I was asked to pay for the parking! So I ended up paying $79 for 2 nights, while the parking was $36(no tax)! The parking price is ridiculously high, I would have rather paid more for the room and the parking was already included in it!

Yelp
If you like modern surroundings, this hotel is for you. With slick furniture, large white bathroom, dramatic color scheme in the room, it is extremely pleasing. On top of the esthetics, the beds are super comfortable. Pillows and comforter are filled with duck down. I absolutely love the natural filler, so this was heavenly for me. The room was very quiet and I slept soundly all night. I would definitely return to this hotel.

Yelp
An extraordinary hotel. The best customer service I've ever experienced at any hotel and everything about it was lovely--the music and candles burning in the lobby, turn down service at night with water placed next to the bed, spacious room, waterfall shower. And the cafe connected next to the hotel has a delicious homemade falafel sandwich.

Yelp
Came here for a four-night stay in Feb 2019 for a work trip. Arrived on a Monday night around 6pm, walked in the revolving doors, assumed this was the front lobby. I saw two 'podium' style desks, one with a female worker, asked if this is the check-in/front desk spot, and she cheerfully welcomed me with a big 'yes!' Checked-in fast, very professional and enthusiastic. Nice that I was the only customer and served immediately. I wonder if a group arrived at once if it would be longer, and assume so, but I was lucky with this experience anyway. The lobby is modern & chic, as one would expect from a recently opened hotel, which I learned from the cab driver as being about 6 months ago. When I got up to my room, I put my door card into the slot to turn on the electricity immediately and was impressed instantly. You experience jazzy, mood music. The decor here was great too, with various lighting options, all eco. The king-sized room has see-through showers, which I have experienced before, and am glad I didn't have to share my room with a coworker again, like I did the year before. LOL Perfect for the solo traveller. Location: great, next to the Rideau Center! A 5 min walk to the market! Re the included breakfast: it has enough to satisfy if you are a light eater in the morning. I tend to like a big breakfast, so on the first morning, had toast, fruit, pastries, scrambled eggs, from the buffet table on the 2nd floor. Light eaters would be satisfied, I just opt for more of a full menu. The other three mornings I walked to a nearby restaurant, or just grabbed Starbucks at the another morning. The conference rooms are not huge, but they are sufficient for a group of 20+, with lots of natural lighting, attentive staff. The Nespresso machine is a nice touch, although I had difficulty figuring out its usage when I was the first arriving in the morning. Once others arrived, we figured that out. Additional note I must mention a Dave customer service staff who helped us get Senators tickets, with lots of advice on the cheapest/best way to get there. I recommended this hotel.

Yelp
WONDERFUL hotel!! Great customer service, beautiful complimentary breakfast, amazing rooms, and very dog friendly!! Loved the dog bed they brought to the room for our pup, as well as the calming music playing when we walked in. Can't wait to return!!

Yelp
Hotel leaves a lot to be desired .First night I told them I was allergic to feathers and they brought up 1 pillow after an hour. There are 8 feather pillows and feather duvets. Nothing was changed. The sheets were left on my suitcase I was unsure if we were supposed to change the sheets ourselves. I called down for more toilet paper and tissues and two hours later still waiting. Car valet is great and our waitress at the restaurant was great .However Hotel is quite noisey you can hear neighbors opening and closing their doors.
