Le Grand Balcon (Toulouse, Occitanie) 23 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Unless you’re an academic, an aerospace engineer, or, you know, French, you probably don’t pay a huge amount of attention to what goes on in Toulouse. The south gets more tourist traffic than the southwest, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to see here: a look at the Hôtel Le Grand Balcon reveals a hotel as sophisticated and cosmopolitan as any design-conscious European boutique." - Tablet Hotels

Extremely disappointed by the girl and the guy working there today on 28/7. The restaurant was empty and we wanted table without sun exposure outside which was available but the guy and the girl who said she is a manager said we can not sit there. The reason for that is my friend has sun burn, however the staff didn’t want to help us and let us leaving the restaurant on a very arrogant french way which should not be acceptable for tourists place and restaurant with good reputation. Their behaviour was like big boss. The girl and the boy refused to give their names even though they should give their names and even worse she was presented as a manager however they are working now at 17:30 on 28/6. Photos of the empty restaurant show attached with photo of the staff working now who was so rude to us. Permission of taking photos has been given by him though he didn’t want to give his name.

We ordered ravioli and scallops and both were super tasty. Ananas spritz was also amazing. I highly recommend this place🤩🥰

We came here for dinner and it was the best way to spend our last night in Nice. We were able to get an outdoor table without a reservation. For my entree I got the ravioli truffle and burrata which was absolutely amazing! It is very filling and super tasty. The moment they brought it to the table I knew I made the right choice since it smelled amazing. My fiance got the salmon risotto and he said it was alright. The risotto was hard and not fully cooked.

I don’t have enough words to describe how amazing this place is and how easy it is to fall in love with the food they create. Big part of the whole experience is the service, which is amazing! Especially our favorite Enzo (they are so lucky to have him as part of the team). We kept coming back for dinner for 3 evenings in the row, and for sure we will be coming back next time we are in Nice. Five star place.

Great food. The risotto blew my mind. The prefix menu is an excellent choice. Probably one of the best meals we had in Nice (if not the best). The staff is super friendly and attentive.

Good overall experience — the tartare was not extremely tasty but presentation of all plates were excellent

I had a lovely lunch here. I walked in with no reservation around 12:30 but they filled up quite a bit by 1:30 and don't think you could walk in by that time. I ordered the octopus salad as a starter and it was delectable. The octopus was tender and melted in my mouth. It was served with olives, tomatoes and potatoes and it was just delicious. My main was a sea bream served with local artichokes and again the flavors were outstanding. This is a great spot! I recommend.

I came with 7 friends this evening and ordered the mussels. A few of them tasted off - extra fishy and with an unusual texture - after which my stomach started to feel uneasy. After eating half, I had to rush to the toilet twice. When I informed the manager, he didn’t acknowledge the issue at all. I explained that I didn’t want anyone else to go through the same thing, but a woman from the staff came over and denied there was a problem. I clarified that my friends and I had all eaten the same dishes, so it wasn’t possible I’d been ill from anything else. Still, nothing was done. My meal wasn’t even removed from the bill, and I didn’t receive a single apology. I felt completely gaslighted, and the staff were rude, sighing and speaking dismissively throughout the interaction

Yelp
40 of us had lunch here as part of our tour of Nice. It's much larger than it looks from the front. Service was fast and very friendly. We started with wine, I had the house red. Well balanced and delicious. Nice The meal began with a salad, roasted peppers, fried bread and onion hash browns. A very nice start. Then came a very lightly flavored chicken curry with rice. Chicken was moist with rice and cooked perI really liked it.

Yelp
I'm an American tourist, first time in Nice. Wanted a classic cafe experience and this place looked nice, even if pricey. I was shocked to be basically refused entry. I was dressed in black jeans, blue fleece. The only reason I can fathom is that I don't look like a local, and I'm Black. This cafe is in a very touristy area, very diverse and cosmopolitan. No, I wasn't wearing Dior, but I wasn't looking sloppy either. Quite shocked and disappointed to face the same classism/racism I get in some places in the USA.

Yelp
Visited as part of a welcome dinner for 30 folks in our package tour of Nice and the French Riviera. We were in the private banquet dining room. Friendly, fun-loving servers. First course was one of the most delicious salades Niçoise I have ever enjoyed. Main course for me was a filet of sea bass with pommes purées. Dessert was chocolate fondant (chocolate lava cake floating in a moat of vanilla cream). Charming indoor and outdoor space in Old Nice!

Yelp
This was a restaurant we stumbled across after having spent our day at the beach. The service was excellent, and the waiter was patient with us as we navigated the extensive menu. This quintessentially French patio was a beautiful place to people-watch. The only awkwardness was the couple next to us bickering in English. I had the truffle risotto, which was outstanding, but about twice as much food as I could eat. My parter had the foie gras, but again it was too much for him to finish because...foie gras. For his main, he had a steak and mashed potatoes. He finished every morsel. I liked the kir royal, but not the Aperol Spritz. It was too syrupy for me. I enjoy going to places like this where we can take our time and enjoy the meal and the ambiance. It was really a wonderful experience. I definitely recommend it.

Yelp
For my final night in Nice, the group I was with hose Le Grand Balcon, and I was very happy with their choice. It was a busy Friday night so the streets were alive with activity. We arrived on time for our reservation and were show to a table in what can be best described as the "library" area of the restaurant with lots of ambiance, tables with plush upholstered chairs and crisp linens. Since we were a large group, we had a set menu to choose from. I went with the artichoke salad and some others went for the smoked salmon. While both were good- the artichoke salad was huge and delicious! It came with plenty of shaved Parmesan on top and just the right amount of seasonings. As for our entree, I chose the chicken and mashed potatoes while others had the risotto with vegetables. Both of these dishes were also quite good. And for dessert? A beautiful molten lava cake served with ice cream. The perfect ending to a really delicious meal. Service was spot on- functional if not overly friendly but the place was very busy so that is to be expected. And most spoke English so they were not subjected to my juvenile French . Go for a special night out in Nice. The food, the service and the ambiance all come together to make a perfect evening!

Yelp
Kill me now as I'm going to heaven. The saffron truffle risotto with pawns and squid #hardstop. This has to be one of the best meals on the Cote d'Azur this week, it's Monday. Service is supreme with this top notch seafood bistro. Personable and professional with nothing a problem. Champagne cocktail with rose water and ginger another religious experience. Come to this culinary altar for sure.

Yelp
The food was really great here, though the portions are a bit large. Although the food came out fairly quickly (compared to most other French restaurants), the restaurant seemed understaffed. The wait to get our bill was about 20 minutes.

Yelp
This year, together with my partner we decided for a touring holiday escapade around France. We started in Strasbourg, via Paris,Loire castles , Orleans, Lyon, Marseille, Sain Trope, Cannes and Nice and back to Poland. As during our previous trips to Turkey or Spain, it was not only the escapade to see sights and interesting places but also a trip to the exciting world of new tastes and culinary adventure. Our last evening in France, which we spent in Nice, we decided to celebrate in a unique way so we went for gala and special dinner at Le Grand Balcon. As the evening was warm and early, we decided to sit at the tables outside the restaurant to be able to feel the atmosphere of the tourist lively evening in the city. It was a great decision because we could not only look at the dishes ordered by guests at the tables next to us but also to feel the atmosphere of france during evening meal. I decided to order seasonal risotto with zucchini that was incredibly flavorful, perfectly prepared and beautifully presented . My partner let me persuade him the truffle tasting menu from the top shelf (61 euro for 5 courses). There were tatins, the best foie gras we have ever taste, buttered and creamy truffle risotto, juicy piece of meat with truffle mashed potatoes and eaven dessert had a strong flavor of truffle. Everything was prepared from the best products and was very tasty. Because I love sweets for dessert I wished so-called Apotheosis of desserts for 2 person (18 euro). There were: compressed strowberries tartar sherbet and mint whipped cream crumble, frozen calisson in almond oil, crystallized melon and bitter orange, white and milky chocolate zephyr, home made profiterolles and finaly home made vanilla ice cream. It was heaven in my mouth. Interior of the restaurant is elegant and sophisticated in compliance with all standards. The service is nice, friendly and obliging but I would prefare more of attention for each guest. The prices are unfortunately quite high so it is good place for special date or celebrations but not for every day or evening meal.

Yelp
This was by far the best meal I had in France. It is on a touristy block however it is a very nice and and worth the price. First, the bread and olive spread they put out on the table is amazing. We started with the artichoke appetizer which was so fresh and delicious. I had the shrimp dish for my main and the lady had the Risotto with truffles. The food was so delicious and met every expectation we had.

Yelp
This was a chance find and we are glad we found it. The champagne and truffle everything was superb. The service was friendly and very professional. It is a bit pricey however totally worth it.

Yelp
Excellent dining experience. We ordered the black truffle steak and black truffle risotto. For the steak lovers, you'd be hard pressed to find a better tasting fillet. The mashed potatoes served on the side were like icing on the cake. Next, the risotto. It melts in your mouth and simply said, is amazing! We had the caramel eclair for dessert which was an excellent choice as well. Great food mixed with a friendly staff equals a recipe for success.

Yelp
This meal was just magnificent. To start with the negatives, they brought us the wrong meal at first, but quickly fixed it and brought us the correct meal shortly after. This was at almost no inconvenience to us and made hardly a dent in our meal. I, personally, had the filet which was absolutely delicious. It was a little small, but the seasoning was delicious and it was cooked to perfection. The other members of my party agreed that their meals were delicious. If we had the chance, we would absolutely return.

Yelp
Great restaurant. From the starters to the mains and the deserts. Truly superb, enjoyed a great local wine from Provenance. Enjoy a great experience, eating great food and watching the people walk by, listening to solo singer entertaining us. Great night.

Yelp
6/7 dishes we had were fantastic. Really great food. My main course was the duck which I ordered med rare. It was med well at best but probably more well. Didn't send it back but I pointed it out to the head server when she asked how the meal was. She bluntly told me it was medium (still not what I ordered) and told me it was my fault for how I ordered it.

Yelp
Amazing Experience, Everything was just right with this place. for the grand finale get the dessert with guava and chocolate it will delight your night.

Yelp
Went for dinner on my first night in Nice back in July. Sat outside just after a nice rain, which left the streets buzzing and the vibe very laid back, great for people watching. I had the bouillabaisse and a seafood salad, with a glass of house white wine. The food was good, but I wish they wouldn't take away the between course bread and spreads so quickly!! I had to scold the waiter once! That said, the staff were incredibly kind and had a great sense of humor, perfect for a solo traveler at a restaurant full of couples.

Yelp
This is the place! Steak with truffles and steak with foie gras out of this world. They served mashed potatoes on side (truffles on top) with your steak and truffles. Dreamland.
