Le Grand Hotel Des Thermes

We had a short but wonderful trip to Saint-Malo! Our experience at Le Grand Hotel des Thermes was extremely inviting, comfortable and elegant. While we didn't have the opportunity to dine at the hotel directly, we enjoyed drinks at the bar and a spectacular view. We were traveling with our 3 children and we had a more than ideal room setup for our family with an adequate amount of space and breathtaking views. Jordan at the front desk was most helpful and was always ready to assist with valuable information and suggestions. We only wish we could've stayed longer....next time! Merci beaucoup

Grand Hotel right on the seafront. We were lucky to get a wonderful room on the very top floor with a breathtaking sea view. Watching the tides come and go is a mesmerizing experience — the water literally reaches the walls of the hotel, carrying with it the sound of waves and the cries of seagulls. The sea view is the main highlight and a unique pleasure, like having a private balcony to an endless natural performance. The hotel also features a huge thermal complex. A variety of pools, saunas, and other relaxing facilities are included in the stay, perfectly complementing a fantastic holiday. There is also a fine dining restaurant offering exquisite cuisine right inside the hotel. And of course, the promenade along the seafront, where the hotel is located, is itself a special kind of resort art.

Maybe my stay here was so good because it was off-season and not crowded but I really liked this hotel. Check-in was smooth, our room was GREAT. It had recently been redone and had a balcony with a spectacular view of the beach. We had room service breakfast three days in a row and whoever that lady was who answered the phone each morning should get a raise.

The best hotel in Saint-Malo in my opinion. We were lucky to receive an upgrade and stayed in a room with a sea view, watching the tides and the frequent changes in weather. It’s a place where you feel like staying for several months — or maybe even forever. The room was very clean and spacious, the bed comfortable, and the service impeccable. I also highly recommend visiting their famous aquatic complex Les Thermes Marins de Saint-Malo, which occupies an entire building.

The 20M salt-water pool was the highlight, kept at a comfortable 30 degrees C. The rest of the aqua center was amazing. We had no opportunity to try the hotel restaurants. It's a bit of a hike to the old town, but it's a lovely walk along or beside the beach. The Nespresso machine in tthe room was a nice touch. The mattress was on the firm side, the way we like it. I expect it would be comfortable for everyone. The shower in the room was amazing, high-powered in a way we can no longer get in the USA.

The hotel is lovely, on the ocean front. Service was very nice. We were a bit disappointed with our rooms. We had booked a basic room for our (teenage) children and a seaview room for us. We had understood that we had been "upgraded" but in fact we were given rooms on the ground floor which had not been refinished since the 1970s (or so it seemed). People walking by could see into our room. You could smell the fish from the restaurant down the hall. We asked the hotel to put us into a room on a higher floor (which they offered the next day) but by then it meant packing our bag, moving away from our kids and it just didn't seem worth it. The ground floor rooms (and perhaps all the rooms) had wall-to-walk dark shag carpeting. We do not understand why French hotels insist on this very unhygenic option. This is a holdover from, in fact, the 1970s and the hotel would do well to rid itself of carpeting in the rooms (where guests walk with their shoes and one never knows if it is clean).

We stayed at the Thermes as a birthday celebration for my mother, with different family members staying for different lengths of time. The hotel were superb and all the bookings were perfect and all rooms next to each other. The lunch at the Cap Horn for 15 people was fantastic with very discreet service and allowing us all afternoon which was greatly appreciated. Would definitely recommend this wonderful hotel for a relaxing stay by the beach, whether fo a special occasion or a holiday, absolutely fabulous, nothing was ever too much trouble.

Very good location. Beautiful view and comfortable bed. | Kind of older rooms but in general it was a good stay.|P.S. they don’t offer much bucket to be delivered to the room. They put the ice in a plastic bag instead!

My family had a wonderful 3 week trip planned to rent a car and tour France. Our itinerary included Paris, Normandy, Mont Saint Michael and may other stops. This was going to be the last time we would probably vacation together as a family in that my son is now 21 and starting a new career and my older daughter 18 is heading off to college so we spent countless hours trying to find the perfect hotels to stay. After all this planning, it was devastating to learn that we would be returning back to the USA just as we landed in France in that my wife's brother had just passed away at a young age. This trip was going to be pretty expensive so one of my tasks upon returning home was to try and unwind the trip. This included cancelling hotel rooms, car rentals, tours, etc. Every hotel was accommodating and understood our difficulty and was more than willing to offer us a full refund. That is except Le Grand Hotel des Thermes. Very cold and insensitive - poor customer service. We saved our itinerary and are planning to take another stab at this trip next year (most likely without our son). We will be rebooking the same hotels but rest assured, Le Grand Hotel des Thermes will not be on the list.

I have nothing positive to say about this MOTEL. It is nothing more. Those at the desks are clueless regarding restaurant recommendations or for directions to any where. There is always a sulfur smell in the hall, and the housekeeper tends to forget to change the towels in the bath. Not sure where everyone was tonight when we returned from dinner at 10. No one was to be found. Try staying in Dinard...better options.

The place to stay in Saint Malo. Excellent service, great breakfast and choice of gastronomic or traditional restaurants, big spa, sports facilities and of course, it's directly on the beach. All in all, really enjoy my stay each time I come.

We checked in for 2 nights at this hotel. I chose this because of it's location on the beach and the 5 stars. When we pulled up there was no one there for our car. But as I'm in a foreign country, I don't know if that's normal or not. We walked in and the man at reception greeted us. He spoke great English. They took our car and parked it. The reception desk man took all our luggage up for us. We had a room in the new building. Taking the 2 separate elevators over and up was a little confusing at times. Nothing I couldn't figure out though. We arrived later, around 21:00. By this time all the restaurants we closed, and room service only had a few items available 24/7. So we went to the bar area and ordered wine and a cheese plate. The bar area is gorgeous. They have a piano player in the evenings from 19:00-21:00. The view of the ocean is breathtaking. We hung out for a couple hours. Back in the room: we had room 558, which faces the ocean. And all the rooms ending in "8" in that building have a full balcony instead of just a tiny Juliet balcony, which I was thrilled about. The room was plenty big. We had a king bed, which was really 2 twin beds pushed together. Not a real fan of the 2 beds pushed together, but it was ok. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom was really nice. Comes with all the regular "stuff". The bathtub was really nice. I love bathtubs. The water was HOT. Their hot water heater is working VERY well. Lol. Fine by me. The room comes with instant coffee and an electronic hot water heater. I was able to sit on the balcony looking out on both awesomely beautiful days and drink my coffee and be the happiest happy I could be. The wifi was fast and I never had any problems with it. The room didn't have an iron or ironing board in it, which was I thought strange, but different country. We just asked the front desk for one and they provided us with one. If you can get a balcony room, do it. It's so lovely. When we had a problem with a restaurant where we had a reservation and they unexpectedly cancelled us for no apparent reason, the hotel called and fixed it for us. Awesome experience. Great customer service. Definitely would come back here.

This rather quirky hotel is a 5 min drive (~20 min walk) from Intra Muros (old walled city of Saint-Malo). Getting to one's room is a labyrinthine endeavor: my room was on the first floor, but in the new wing, which means I had to go into the old wing reception, go up two flights of stairs, walk through the bar, go through two more corridors, and down another flight of stairs, where my room was down the hall (N.B., there are elevators for each of the floor changes but they are slow and small as is the local custom). The hospitality at reception was good, but in the bar I sat down in full view of all of the servers and waited for 15 mins with plenty of eye contact before I finally gave up and walked to the bar to order. That's a bit of a deal breaker. The buffet breakfast is decent; I recommend ordering fried eggs instead of sticking with the scramble on the buffet line. Shower was good on water, but has the standard French demi-pane water guard so half of the bathroom is always drenched. Room size rather small. Hot water kettle was nasty and unusable. Sound isolation not great, you can hear everything in the hallway and any loud noises in adjacent rooms when trying to sleep. The wifi is good with no hassle beyond accepting the policy. Good views of and access to the beach. All in all, this hotel tries to aspire to 4 stars but misses the mark in some key respects.
