Great place for lunch, an afternoon cocktail, or dinner. Perfect Parisian atmosphere. Mostly locals, nearly no tourists. Discover Le Hibou 3 years ago, been returning on each visit to Paris.

Google
The atmosphere on the terrace is absolutely beautiful. The food and cocktails are delicious. Our server, Valentine was friendly and wonderful. Highly recommend.

Google
Good, vibes, exceptional! Valentine was a delightful server with great energy and accommodation. Would 100% recommend!

Google
Just happened in as it’s a block from my hotel ( Louis ll). Just solo, so Seated immediately! Greeted by super sweet Oude, who had great recommendations. Got the special veal with cream sauce ( of course, true French) mashed & green beans DEEEEEE - L I S H !!! Wish I had stopped in earlier! This section ( the 6th arr / St Germaine) is chock full of excellent restaurants

Google
not to loud, good music, you MUST try the steak au poivre it’s my favorite steak in the whole world, great mocktails too

Desmond Y.

Google
We were in the neighborhood and noticed that the place was full of customers sitting outside, enjoying breakfast and drinks. We decided to sit down and order the hot chocolate and crossiant, butter baguette with jam. The hot chocolate we had here was the best we enjoyed in Paris. The croissant and baguette were great. Note: this baguette is served with butter. It is indeed hard to come by in Paris. The butter and jam made the baguette right for north America visitors, no kidding.

Google
This is a bar/cafe along Carr de l'Odeon in Saint Germain. They have an atmospheric outdoor seating area, making for a nice spot to stop and have a round of drinks and rest break while spending time in this area of the city. We stopped by, beer and wine orders were reasonably priced, tasted just fine, service as expected. All was fair and expected. Would be fine stopping by again.

Google
5 stars all around!!!! Valentine was the best waitress we’ve had our entire trip to Paris. Food was incredible and vibes were emasculate. We will definitely be returning.

Yelp
Great food, generous portions so be aware. The bread was delicious, I loved my chicken dish. The service is a busy bunch so they can be hard to catch, but they make up for it when you got their attention. Loved the whole setup. Had drinks on the terrace with friends a couple days previously, and it was also great. Go!

Robert B.

Yelp
The service was good. The food was ok. We had the hummus appetizer and the guacamole appetizer. The hummus was good. The guacamole was OK. I had peppercorn steak, medium rare. It was good. My son had the mint steak with the fried egg on top. It was OK. The presentation was good. The flavor was bland. My daughter had the salmon with hollandaise and also the shrimp dumplings. The shrimp dumplings were again OK. The salmon was bland. My wife had the chicken Caesar. She did not enjoy it. The texture of the chicken was slightly mealy. Overall, I would recommend eating somewhere else for drinks and appetizers. This was acceptable.

Yelp

Yelp
Ambiance, shrimp dumplings, espresso martini and sea bass were our favs. 10/10. Margot our server was wonderful and the food was exceptional. Love this place!

Yelp
good for drinks, snacks, cute area in Odeon --next to a lot of other great restos and bars to visit before / after and just people watch at the other sortir-s that night. the decor is awesome! huge place actually bathroom downstairs has a cool layout kind of reminding me of Jeremy Bentham's "panopticon" model with the sick in the middle and thetoilets on the perimter... guys at the bar are nice and funny! strong drinks and cute cocktail menu

Catherine G.

Yelp
Loved this restaurant! While it is know as a great late-night bar, the food was excellent!

Will C.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast and a good enough place for lunch. We had the cheese omelet for lunch and it was fine. But the breakfasts are superb!
google avatar

Bethany B.

Yelp
Amazing service, food, and ambiance. Got drinks and a few appetizers to share late night.

Yelp
A perfect sidewalk brasserie to sip wine and enjoy the Odéon neighborhood. Service was prompt, and the wine selection was wonderful. Even in the winter the outdoor seating is ideal because they have heaters above the tables. To be fair, we didn't order food - but what we saw come out looked phenomenal.

Yelp
We loved Le Hibou so much that we ate there twice during a week-long stay in Paris. It feels like a neighborhood favorite; we saw the staff greet customers with familiarity more than once! The staff is uniformly warm and welcoming. They respected our French but easily switched to English when we needed them to. And the food...the food was delicious! I had the beef carpaccio, my husband had the salmon tartare, and our daughter had the steak au poivre. All were beyond our expectations. The whimsical cocktail menu was a fun addition. The "Just Gimme the Light" is worth getting just for its presentation. We finished the evening with the chocolate mousse, a delightfully decadent treat.

Peyton H.

Yelp
Very good food! Salads were fresh, yummy, and hearty! Service was okay - they forgot our drinks but honestly didn't need them

Ana M.

Yelp
If you are looking for a typical Parisian place where the staff is notorious to make you feel miserable, this is the one. You'll be treated so badly that it's almost worth the experience. Then, foodwise, it's pretty basic.

Gene P.

Yelp
This review is related for their breakfast. I've haven't tried lunch or dinner. First, the French originally mastered the omelette, but this restaurant failed to study from their ancestors. The omelette was made mainly from egg whites, it was served cold, and it was tasteless so the only thing you could taste was this funky cheese. This omelette was basically an omelette served at a hospital/hospital. Second, when we asked for an americano they filled the coffee mug partially. They were being so cheap It was like they had to grow the coffee seeds. Third, there was no alternatives to the menu. For example, one of us just wanted ham and cheese instead of an omelette. They would not do it. Forth, servers really made you feel that naive English speakers are not welcome. This one server kept saying "oui anglaise" "I'd like to order a cheeseburger without the burger or cheese." while looking at my family and laughing. So, any native English speakers who aren't fluent in French should avoid this place. Also, anyone who enjoys food should avoid this place. There's much better places to go such as Le Crème De Paris Notre Dame. That place is welcoming, they serve a fantastic brunch, with amazing cocktails.

Kelly B.

Yelp
This was our best meal in Paris! Stumbled into Le Hibou around 10 PM on a Sunday night as many restaurants were closing. Patio was hopping and lined with foliage for privacy. Sea bass and beef tab were delicious! We both ordered mashed potatoes (yum!), but added a side of fries once we noticed ketchup on a table near us since we're not big Mayo fans. Server was kind and attentive.

Yelp
Worked in Paris and this spot is a "go to" place for drinks, food and fun. Good location with cute furnishings and ambiance. Food was average to above average and did not disappoint. Enjoy!
google avatar

Victoria J.

Yelp
Had such a great time for dinner we came back for breakfast! Loved it!! I had the escargot and calf liver which was amazing especially with the mashed potatoes. The charcuterie plate was delightful and we had the best service for dinner (we were right by the hostess stand). For breakfast we ate outside (I had the avocado toast) and our service was a little slower so just keep that in mind! But it was amazing

Yelp
This place is super hip. Relaxed vibe and laid back feel, but with great food and late night service. I found the waiters to be consistent with all other establishments in Paris -- busy and will help you when you signal them. A younger vibe, great ambiance, and speedy wifi. Be there.
google avatar

Elle J.

Yelp
Currently having breakfast there. They brought 3 croissants, completely burnt, in a basket, we don't have plates, napkins, or anything for civilized people. Also, when I order a formula you d expect your orange juice to be more than 1 sip. My friend asked for an omelette, this is the saddest plate I 've seen. The omelette stands next to some green salad, no tomato or cucumber in that salad.... One of us asked for napkins, the waiter came with 1 napkin, for 4 people ..... It s a disaster

Kenny Y.

Yelp
Pretty overpriced. Came for a special Valentines dinner and wanted to sit in the cable cars, but manager said that they are for party of 4 or more. Half way through my meal they sat a couple in there. I asked and he said they had a reservation. He pretended he was gonna let us go there, then later said they were a regular so they get the privilege. What BS.

Yelp
Do not eat at this restaurant!!!! I am usually a very patient and easy-going diner and have never written a review before, but this place was so horrible that I want to save other people from the misery. We waited an hour and a half for our dinner only to be told that our order was never sent to the kitchen and we then had to wait another 30 minutes for them to cook it. The waiter and host were not at all helpful in addressing the situation and did not apologize, explain, or even ask if we wanted more drinks while we waited. This is a pity because we actually came here twice during our visit to Paris. We stopped one afternoon for a snack and drink and liked the place so much that we sought it out several days later for dinner. The food is tasty but not worth hours of waiting without explanation. When the bill came - which was approximately $450/400 euros - they charged us full price for everything we ordered, and I obliged and paid the bill (I am typically not one to complain). On the way out, I mentioned to the Maitre D' that the service did not meet my expectation and that typically a restaurant will comp something when they make a mistake, as they did here. He indicated that he told the server to assist with our bill but the server said it was the kitchen's fault. In the end, the restaurant gave us a free dessert and round of drinks, but with an attitude that conveyed that we were the problem and should not have asked. This is not the type of service I expect from a restaurant of this caliber in St. Germain. Particularly when I'm spending $450. My advice: save yourself the headache and go to Fish La Boissonerie and the Cosi sandwich shop across the street where the food is just as tasty (if not more so) and the servers are happy to take care of you.

Yelp
Two stars bc they were accommodating when we needed a table and it seems like a good people watching place. The food however was atrocious. Under cooked and cold. Don't eat here!

Ali W.

Yelp
This restaurant is trashy, overrated, and overpriced. The only good think about this restaurant is that you can sit outside in Paris - this however is the same as all Paris restaurants. It is not Parisien in style or quality, and it is not good either.
google avatar

Yelp
Visited Hibou for a drink or two.. Its a gorgeous street cafe that offers drinks and a lite menu. Although we arrived at a busy time they were able to accommodate us at one of the outdoor tables. I went with the escargot and some freshly squeezed grapefruit juice (Pampelmouse). The juice and the snails were delicious. I love french bread.. that hard crust is divine. Hibou's corner location is perfect for sitting outside and enjoying the weather. The their service was excellent. The manager seemed on point and friendly. Our waiter spoke English was very friendly as well.
google avatar

Melinda M.

Yelp
Was in Paris for 5 days and could hardly find anything decent to eat. Clown Bar, Comptoir (which is across from Hibou, always has a line & is deeply mediocre), Echo, La Mansouria ... all so disappointing. Le Hibou was good! Pretty inside at night. Great baguette. Was a relief to find it.
google avatar

Hannah R.

Yelp
AlL of our food was great, even better service that was fast and friendly. Has great dinner options for people getting a little bit bored of French food and we couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere as a family of 8!
google avatar

Yelp
Our search for a late night meal on our first night in Paris yielded this amazing gem of a place. Nestled on the triangle in the Odeon, Le Hibou has only had two weeks to perfect its craft. You want Brasserie with a good music vibe and a local hipster-ish crowd? Check. Cheeseburger piled with bacon and a finger-licking Dijon sauce? Double-check. And of course.....what brasserie street side is complete without the ubiquitous pommes frites? These ones are perfect- thin, salty, crispy. Papaya salad to top it off- nice, tasty, but they could make the "papaya" a little more visible. Grab your date or a couple of buddies , and plan to nestle in for a couple hours of people-watching, lively chatter, over a glass of wine and comfort food. Perfectly Parisian. 4-stars only because of the salad. 56 Euro for two, and off to find some crepes.

Cat N.

Yelp
Grossly overpriced for drinks, and the food that passed by us didn't look substantial enough to merit their prices either. My professor had tea and I had a small glass of wine for the same price of a good meal elsewhere. It looks deceptively charming as you walk through the busy carrefour, but don't get sucked in. There wasn't any great music or charm to it, and the area is too loud for conversation. If you walk up Monsieur Le Prince or down St Sulpice - pretty much any direction from here - you'll find much better places for either drinks, dinner, or atmosphere.

Yelp
The basics: -awful service so don't eat here unless you're desperate -expensive food for very little (very very little) decent food -fries are amazing!! -they do not know how to cook beef "well done" -English spoken but almost feels like they are mocking you -cool lighting in bathrooms My boyfriend lives in the neighborhood so we came here for our NYE dinner. I had just flown in from the states and we had no plans but were extremely hungry. We were seated immediately outside. They were busy but not as Le Comptoir across the street (obviously). We were given the menus, more like thrown menus, and were surprised at the prices. 39€ for a steak at a neighborhood cafe restaurant?! We went with it anyway and ordered two different types of steak: the Paris Bangkok and the pepper sauce steak. I asked for mine cooker well done and emphasized NO BLOOD. Our food came out almost immediately which was surprising because it takes some time for steak to be cooked well. Each dish came with fries that were really good and bread. My steak felt like it still had a heart beat. It was the bloodiest thing ever. My boyfriend's Paris Bangkok had maybe five bites for 39€. I asked for them to recook my steak, the server who was inpatient and rude said "okay okay" and took my plates and silverware. It came back about 10 minutes later, cut up into an ugly slob. I had no silverware and had to wait about five minutes. Is service dead?! The steak was good despite its appearance but again, there were maybe five bites of food. We asked for our check and again, a serve threw it down. Two meals for 78€. We waited about 15 minutes until my boyfriend lost his patience and went up to the bar to pay. If you can, avoid this place like the plague.

Yelp
We sat outside and had a couple of coffees. You get a good view of the street (and also a good lungful of cigarette smoke if your neighbours are puffing away!). We did not eat but I loved the decor inside and the bathrooms are quite cool!
google avatar

Jenn B.

Yelp
The atmosphere is perfect. The waiters are helpful, friendly, and awesome. Don't overthink it and sit out on the patio and enjoy!
google avatar

Helena L.

Yelp
Not only is this place a rip off because it's expensive but the food and drinks are bad! Went for a late night drink with friends and got an extremely watered down cocktail, could barely taste the alcohol. We ended up ordering a tropezienne (French dessert) to share and it was cold, the cream in the middle was hard, and worst of all it tasted like the refrigerator. Plus it was 11 euros! I recommend to go up the street to bar 10 for sangria and to eat at the crêpe guy outside odeon. They are far superior and much better priced.
google avatar

Britten A.

Yelp
This is a great late night drink and appetizer spot in Paris. We came here many nights after a nearby wine bar to order their kale & quinoa salad. It is so good and I could eat it every day. & their bread is fresh and tasty!
google avatar

Mark D.

Yelp
The food was actually pretty good, though a touch over priced. €23 for a cheeseburger is steep even for Paris. But what really ruined it for us was the very forward nature of the server asking for a gratuity of 20% while we were settling up the bill. He repeated multiple times that the gratuity was not included, even though it clearly states on the receipt that service is in fact included. When we did decide to tip 5-10% anyway, he swooped over to grab our tip from my hand before I had even finished getting it out of my wallet. So he ended up with 5% instead of the 10% we had intended to leave. We were extremely put off by the entire incident, and I wouldn't recommend this place on that experience alone.
google avatar

Kathy S.

Yelp
I have visited other cafés/ restaurants in this little triangle off Boulevard Saint-Germain. A wet, Sunday in August, so not surprisingly the café is only about half full. I greet the waiter in French and also in French order an expresso and a carafe of water. The waiter looked displeased....he returned with my coffee and a GLASS of water. Waiter 1: customer 0. Not sure what the spoon on the saucer was for as no sugar was provided. Sure, I only ordered a coffee but I still expect a minimum service standard. In spite of what some would have you believe there are lots of places in Paris where the service is welcoming and friendly. The coffee was a reasonable standard but I won't bother ro come here with friends.
google avatar

Becky H.

Yelp
We had a wonderful meal here! Loved the atmosphere, helpful wait staff who took good care of us, food was delicious! Don't miss the chocolate mousse for two- incredible! Would go back in a heartbeat.
google avatar

Micha M.

Yelp
A little pricey for the quality but waiters were very nice and food was good. I took penne pasta with vegetables which were good and tasty, but probably not worth the almost 15€ price tag. Wine by the glass was good and reasonably priced (about 5€ the glass). I would recommend this place in the neighborhood, though there are definitively better restaurants around Odeon.
google avatar

Meg C.

Yelp
Stumbled on this gem in Paris! What an amazing meal! Very French but welcoming to tourists. Portions were generous. You know a meal in France is good when you don't touch the bread! Great outdoor seating in a chic area! We plan to return!
google avatar

Selenis L.

Yelp
Le Hibou is definitely my go-to place if I want to have a great meal in a very Parisian ambience. The waiters are friendly and the service is fast. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Love this place!
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
Service and outdoor seating was nice, but food is way overpriced for what you get and very bland by Parisian standards. Would not return.
google avatar

Ilsa A.

Yelp
Came here for a glass of wine this afternoon . Got two glasses each for 5 euros . Had a lovely view . Waiters were get friendly . I'll for sure come back if possible !

KitKat B.

Yelp
My friend and I tried to go to L'vant Comptoir in the same triangle but they were fully booked on a Thursday night at 10:15pm. So, we walked into Hibou and they sat us down in the back near the fireplace. The restaurant is very dark but seemed ok. The staff was a little slow but friendly enough. The prices were a bit high. Most main dishes were €20 and up. The bacon cheeseburger was €22. I ended up getting the Charcuterie (€18) and a glass of Toscana wine. The salumi plate was tasty but the bread was thick and hard. I could not use it to spread the mixed meats over it. The wines were the small glasses typical of Paris at average €7.50 euros. I would've given this place about 3 stars. The big reason for my 2 star rating..there was a small mouse running around the floor. When we told the staff, they just said it must have come in through the open door. That was it. No offering to move us or anything. I guess it's acceptable in Paris to have a mouse running around the restaurant. Reminded me of the movie Ratatouille. I agree with others that it is overpriced for the food it serves but I think it is very average for the area. I wouldn't recommend this place but it's not awful. If there are no other options, this place will do.
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place while walking the streets on a Friday evening in search of dinner...the building and the buzzing outdoor seating we're inviting & the French/Italian menu was the cherry ontop. Our waitress was a genuine beautiful soul, and was VERY accommodating. We shared the pate for our appetizer- delicious. My mother had the barrata salad, and I the roasted lamb chops *cooked perfectly, nice and rare and juicy*. Both entrees were good and the food was fresh. For dessert we shared the caramel and sea salt eclair...that's when I blacked out, haha. SO GOOD. Over all, I was happy with my experience, and for the price I feel that we got what we paid for. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Virginia J.

Yelp
Eclectic menu and the food is well prepared. The servers are overall extremely nice and we've really enjoyed our time there so far!

Nico R.

Yelp
Went to this place tonight with couple of friends... been to a billion places in Paris but this one is by far, the WORST. I sat outside waiting hours to order my food and the so called boss, touched my shoulder asking very disrespectfully to stand up and gave my chair to other customers next to us... this was so rude that I thought it was a joke. So he took my chair and gave it to other customers...giving me a ridiculously small stool where I couldn t even sit... I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this place... the funniest part is that apparently this guys do that... A LOT. Long story short the guy lost 5 clients who were willing to order a lot of food tonight! If I could put this place down to less than 10 I would do it.
google avatar

Catherine V.

Yelp
Charcuterie platter was decent but definitely not great. The French fries were good, but they were cut way too short, and it felt like we were grabbing at crumbs.
google avatar

H G.

Yelp
I won't bore you with the specific details but walk on by this place to a multitude of good restaurants that actually want your business and are willing to serve you. The place appears nice and I'm sure their food is decent but after experiencing the prison guard affect of our waiter we settled for a glass of wine and moved on. This is not typical of other Paris restaurants. Walk on by.
google avatar

Emanuel G.

Yelp
Frequented there until the unfriendly staff and prices got out of hand. Beautiful restaurant so it's sad I won't go there anymore, mainly due to the manager.
google avatar

Amber Z.

Yelp
This place has nice decor and lighting but the food wasn't worth it. The tuna steak was overcooked and had too much oily sauce on it. The green beans were also overcooked. My friend's pasta had an excellent sauce though, and there was nice bread to eat with it. My cocktail was pretty small, but the wine was good.
google avatar

Agustina F.

Yelp
I really liked this place. They had a somewhat different menu than other places in Paris. It can be quite boring to have the same options over and over. I realize it is a bit pricey and the stunt with the tip is rather sketchy but I have no trouble calling out someone when doing something they are not supposed to. On the plus side, they were VERY friendly, quick, and kind. The food is excellent -I had the scrambled eggs with truffle and the avocado with crab- and the wine and spirits selection is great as well. The area is rather expensive but the place was still packed on a rainy Sunday night, that has to mean something!
