Quite simply one of the most charming places I have ever stayed at! Absolutely wonderful property and host. I received such a wonderful individual reception and nothing was too much trouble. The owner was so kind and helpful. The quality of the property is fabulous - and as much as it felt like a boutique hotel it felt like a home :) My room was exceptional - stunning view and very comfy bed - plenty of space and lovely furnishings. The garden and pool is such a lovely haven to take a moment. I am so pleased I stayed and found this gem. I can't wait to go back !

Our pre arrival at La Lanternon was not without incident. My bank had totally, I think screwed up is the only way to describe the debacle, my credit card as I tried, speaking to 16 staff over two days, to make the final payment. Jerome seemed much calmer than I was about this. Having met him I now understand why. ||But we made it and what an absolute delight La Lanternon is. The restoration of this building is perfectly sympathetic and the atmosphere so calming. My friend of 50 years and I have both had quite a traumatic year. This haven of tranquility is exactly what we needed. ||As long as we can we will keep returning to this island and now, having found this special hotel and the the team that make it so, La Lanternon, will be our first choice of where to stay.

The most lovely experience. Lovely Jérôme, lovely rooms, and lovely food, welcome and chat. Oh, and the garden! Lovely. Our room was in the main house. Enormous and so calm, so tasteful. Jérôme talked through our plans and shared top tips. He’s cool. He cares. We liked him and his place very much. Can’t wait to return.

Faultless caring welcome to a beautifully renovated ancient house in the perfect position on the ports for st Martin de ré and access to the whole island. One of our nicest ever places to stay and we will definitely be back. Thank you, Jérôme for making our stay exceptional.

We have just returned from a wonderful four night stay at Le Lanteron. This is not the place for you if you want 24 hour reception and room service, and notices in every room telling you what you can and can't do, but it is the place for you if you love the warmth and comfort of a private home, with a relaxed yet very helpful couple as hosts. Jerome and Sophie are a delightful couple and they have restored this charming house which had been uninhabited for 15 years. It is full of beautiful, unique and delightful objects. Our bedroom had a very comfortable bed, with a view of the port. The bathroom was huge, with two basins, a walk in shower and a heated towel rail which was lovely as it was quite cold but sunny during our stay. Breakfast is continental style with orange juice, croissants, and tea/coffee so if you want something more substantial, there are several restaurants for that just steps away outside.|Jerome recommended restaurants and places for us to visit. The view from the lantern right on the top floor is breathtaking, and with two armchairs, it was a glorious place to sit and read, or admire the view. We did both.|Thank you, Jerome and Sophie, for such a perfect time with you.

My (grown up) daughters and I have just had six lovely days on the Île de Re staying at Le Lanternon. Le Lanternon is beautiful, peaceful, relaxing and in a perfect location by the quay. The breakfasts were great, the rooms spacious and the decor is stunning. Jerome is friendly and helpful, his English is superb and we loved our stay. One minor point - there’s a great bar but it wasn’t open very often. A pre-dinner drink would have been very welcome!

Beautiful conversion of an old house just off the port in St Martin de Re. Le Lanternon has five rooms in the main house and Le Secret an additional five rooms in a rear wing in the garden. The rooms are spacious, airy, beautifully decorated, with a view of the street and port or the garden. Be aware that the rooms in the main house are reached by a staircase (there is no lift). The ground floor public rooms (two sitting rooms, one with a bar, and a dining room for breakfast) are beautifully decorated. Books and ornaments are everywhere, and sofas and chairs are comfortable and homely. You can go up to the Lantern for 360 degree views (two steep narrow staircases, worth the climb) of St Martin. You can also take a drink and snack up there watching the sunset. Jerome the host is friendly and helpful, and we really enjoyed our chats with him. Breakfasts are lovely and can be taken in the garden in good weather. The garden has comfy chairs and loungers and a small pool. One of the nicest places we have ever stayed, we woud return in a heartbeat and are already working out logistics for a long weekend during the winter.

We had a magical time recovering from our daughter's wedding in Bordeaux. Jerome was incredibly accommodating and kind; we felt very much at home, and his breakfasts are the best in town! We were so sad to leave, and would love to visit again!
