Fantastic grilled meats in this small restaurant above Victor Hugo market. Great service and very quick! Sat on the balcony, nice and relaxing Sunday lunch

Lively and crowded—but that’s probably part of the charm of this place. We went during lunch hours and had to wait 30-40 minutes for a table. Because the place is small and packed, the staff works hard to keep things running smoothly, but service is still quite slow. However the atmosphere is pleasant, and the food is good. Definitely worth a visit if you’re at Marché Victor Hugo!

The quality of the meat in y beef tartar was excellent. As it was “non préparé” I was able to tailor it to my taste (all required seasonings were provided - shallots, câpres, Dijon, Tabasco, Worcestershire). As I’m a slow eater my fries got cold half way through, and the waiter offered me a fresh batch! Service was great, attentive, friendly and efficient. We sat at the terrasse with a nice view of the beautiful surrounding buildings.

I had a lunch here on weekends. It was quite crowded, but I got the countertable overlooking the street. They serve meat dishes. The food was quite good. Ingredients they use are fresh. Because only meat dishes are available, this is perfect for grill lovers.

We had a spontaneous lunch on Sunday and luckily found a table right away. In my opinion these restaurants located directly in the covered markets are a true French experience. Adding to that the band playing outside helped creating a lighthearted and joyful atmosphere! Food was rather simple and very good. Service was friendly and helpful 🙃 ~~~~~~~~~~~~ How I rate: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Awesome! You need to try it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Very good. Not outstanding. I’d come back any time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Good. Nothing special. ⭐️⭐️ = Slightly disappointing. But still okay. ⭐️ = Don’t go. Save your money!

I came here on recommendation, and waited at least 40 minutes for my food. This place was the least busy at the food market. The staff was rude, and the food was average. My beef tataki was chewy, and after waiting half an hour for my coffee at the end of my meal, it never came.. even after asking several times. The staff was rude and disinterested in serving us, abs very dismissive and non apologetic.

I found this very overpriced. The steak (€22 for 250g) was tough and served with minimal veg. The pomme purée was very good however. The cannelloni (also €22) that my kids had was burnt and dry, clearly cooked long before. Overall a let down.

Atmosphere, food and drinks. Everything. First come first serve but worth the wait. A local friend took us here, would have never found it but is it good. The cassoulet, the black pudding, the beef tartare were excellent.

Yelp
N.B. This is only my second five star review. To say that Le Louchebem is an essential part of my life, is to say that my body needs oxygen. Saying a Cote-de-boeuf avec fois gras is what makes me feel alive, is to state that the sun rises in the East and sets in the West i.e. Essential. All very dramatic I must admit, but bare with me. By far this should be one of the first places you visit, if you ever have the pleasure to be in Toulouse. A place that doesn't need to take reservations, is a place you need to make sure you're a part of. The rule is; two seatings. The first one you have to arrive before high noon. The next one you arrive about 13:30 p.m. In good weather sit on the balcony, if not get amongst it inside. Order a pichet de vin and anything on the menu! Le carte de jour is always great value, but when you see a chopping board come out of the kitchen you know it's a proper bit of meat. I remember when le Cote-de-boeuf was 35 Euros, I think it's about 65 now. However, I always order it whenever I'm there (they will laugh, if you ask for it to be cooked any other way apart from how it comes) My brother polished it off in 20 minutes and asked for more! It's at least 2lb of cow. My friends and I have travelled the world many times, this is still the place we talk about when we refer to steak. See you in August!

Yelp
had my first taste of "real" cassoulet at a no-frills spot above the public market Halles Victor-Hugo. not a few locals pointed this way for the best value lunch (only) in town. bedecked with rugby flags and crazy busy, Le Louchebem is owned by a butcher who plies his trade in the market, and is run by his son. get there before 12 or you may have a long wait for the steak of your dreams. truly everything we ate here was luscious - côte de bœuf, foie gras, confit de canard AND cassoulet. the quality meats are direct from the boucher, all moderately priced and dishes so big but too good not to finish. cassoulet: done.

Yelp
The best restaurant in the Halls of Victor Hugo. Lunch here on Sundays is the experience I most powerfully associate with Toulouse. If you go alone or in a small group you'll most likely end up at a communal table, which is half the fun. The menu for 26 euros has a great foie gras salad, one of the best cassoulets I've had and a mediocre dessert, as well as more wine than I can drink.
