Le Marne Relais Hotel Review | Hotels Above Par

"Nestled in the UNESCO-listed heart of Langhe and Monferrato, this charming hideaway has a poetic, artistic vibe and sits amid 30 hectares of vineyards and orchards. Created by entrepreneur Guido Martinetti and his wife Martina in three restored 19th-century brick farmhouses, it follows the Mura Mura mantra of “living slowly and wisely,” with life meant to be lived mostly outdoors among trails and vines. Interiors blend rustic echoes with custom-made Italian artisan furniture and a few standout design pieces, like the cedar-wood Molletta bench by Riva 1920, land art installations, a modernist-style lounge for tea by the indoor pool, and a Camaleonda sofa by B&B Italia; while there could be more cozy nooks inside, the focus is on movement, harmony, and reconnecting with the earth, which makes it a favorite base for athletes who come to jog, e-bike, and do cyclocross. The 13 rooms each have a distinct personality: five in Dimora dei Poeti are dedicated to Piedmontese authors such as Cesare Pavese and Natalia Ginzburg, with details that evoke their voices, and a standout suite, “La Bellezza Esiste,” pays tribute to Gianmaria Testa, feeling like an artist’s postcard with a terrace and large windows framing the vineyards and rolling hills; the remaining eight rooms in Dimora degli Artisti are conceived as livable works of art offering a visual and sensory journey. The crown jewel is La Casa sospesa tra le Vigne, a wooden suite suspended five meters above the ground, particularly loved by couples, where leaving the curtains open rewards guests with the soft pink dawn light over Monte Rosa and the Monferrato vineyards. Dining centers on Radici Ristorante In Vigna, set under original late-19th-century barrel-vaulted ceilings, where Chef Mykyta Bida uses typical Piedmontese ingredients in modern ways—such as hand-chopped raw veal, 30-yolk tajarin with smoked butter, and agnolotti della tasca stuffed with veal cheek—paired with estate wines like a 2019 Barbaresco, and guests can join guided cellar tastings with Giovanni Solo, sampling Barolo and Barbaresco (Rigore wines) or Barbera, Grignolino, and Moscato (Fantasia wines), the latter sometimes said to rival a Château d’Yquem Sauternes. The wellness area offers a 25-meter, three-lane indoor pool with vineyard views, a fully equipped Technogym fitness center, and a spa with sauna, whirlpool, cold plunge pool, and treatments such as a cane sugar and Mura Mura millefiori honey scrub followed by a grape seed oil massage, making it ideal for post-activity recovery. With no official star rating but service and attention to detail described as truly five-star, the atmosphere is one of inspiration and harmony, steeped in literature, fine wine, and Italian cuisine, and enriched by amenities such as truffle hunting with a trifolao, cooking classes, wine tastings, bike rentals, and floor-to-ceiling windows that blur indoors and outdoors, plus Italian-style hospitality expressed through art, food, wine, culture, nature, and wellness, with breakfast-inclusive rates starting from about $470 per night." - Mariangela Rossi

Le Marne Relais (Costigliole d'Asti, Piedmont) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Piedmont has plenty of attractive lodgings with vineyard views: what makes Le Marne Relais special is its connection to the arts. Set on the grounds of a winery outside Asti, the boutique hotel has just fourteen rooms, each named after the work of art that inspired it. The Beauty Exists suite, referencing a poem by Gianmaria Testa, has supple acacia wood floors, a freestanding soaking tub, and wraparound windows overlooking the rolling hills, while the Stay Close suite, taking a cue from Alessandra Scandella’s fanciful Mother Nature illustrations, features a walk-in shower facing a lush private garden. The treehouse-like House in the Vineyards is set slightly apart from the main buildings, as is the architecturally striking indoor pool, naturally illuminated by skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows revealing the surrounding landscape. Nearby, an airy terrace bar serves aperitivi and wines produced on the premises." - Tablet Hotels

Le Marne Relais & Spa exceeded all our expectations in every way. Nestled amidst stunning vineyards, the hotel's picturesque setting is truly idyllic. The rooms are beautifully appointed, with every detail thoughtfully considered to ensure a luxurious stay. The pool and spa area are perfect for relaxation in or outdoors. But what truly sets Le Marne apart is the exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable, helping me create one of the most special days of our lives. Their dedication, kindness, and attention to detail are deserving of 6 stars, if not more!

Beautiful scenery and modern-rustic architecture (the photos on their website don’t do it justice!). The food at Radici is great. The staff is amazingly friendly. The rooms are very tastefully furnished with great views. Everything about this place is designed to make you feel comfortable and at ease while you enjoy the sights and activities nearby.

This is a wonderful relais. It exceeded our expectations. We spent two night there. We had a suite with a stunning view of the hill valley and hillsides. The room was very comfortable. The bathroom had a tub but there water came out slowly and was not very hot. Never the less, we loved the room. |The staff could not be nicer. The people at the front desk were very helpful. The barman was lovely as was the restaurant staff. The only dispointment with the breakfast. There was not much to be offered and the staff while very nice did not seem to understand there job. For instance, they brought bread but no butter or jam. We had to ask twice for butter. I only mention this because it is one of the only opportunities for improvement. |We plan to come back in the spring or fall.

Le Marne was the third of four stops on our tour of Italy that included Tuscany, the Italian Riviera and Lake Como. Frankly, we had lower expectations of this stop but probably because we didn't know what to expect AND boy were we surprised. The property is stunning and the staff couldn't be more accommodating. We are world travelers and it is rare to have a completely new experience in hospitality but it happened here. Namely, we were sure we booked a king bed room but they gave us |a room with a queen bed. I approached the front desk and I was connected directly with Guido, the owner of the hotel. He apologized and switch rooms with us. He and his wife wound up with the smaller room and let us have his amazing suite! In yet another unexpected turn, the restaurant was completely booked on our arrival but he rearranged the room to fit another table and even graciously gave us a complimentary bottle of wine. While in the area you must take the tour of the on-property winery, Mura Mura. Guido also recommended visiting the small village of Neive. This is a MUST SEE - everything you imagined an Italian village to be but without the hordes of tourists. If I had to pick anything to critique it might be the restaurant menu. The included breakfast was amazing but the dinner menu is geared toward an adventurous palate with some amount of game and offal choices. Anyway, thank you Guido!! I'm only sorry that I can't give your resort 6 stars.

If you want to watch our full video review, find us on YouTube @travelwithpassionandstyle||The hotel is located in the province of Asti, in a very quiet area.|It is accessible by car and has an unpaved parking lot with 4 free charging stations. There is also a small heliport.||Vineyards surround the facility, there is a small pond very close to the hotel where you can spot some small animals like frog and different birds||One room is separated from the main structure, it is called “the hanging house.” It is not the most common room you will find in many hotels. It is not very large, but absolutely one of kind. In our video review, you can see more details.||Each room is different and has its own theme. Overall we found a functional and spacious room. Despite the facility being new, the shower already shows signs of wear and tear. The minibar is included in the room rate but there is no alcohol.||The view is nice, but in our case, the room was located right above the restaurant and this did not always guarantee total privacy unless the windows were closed.||We took advantage of the spa area consisting of a sauna, a cold-water pool, a whirlpool, and a 25-meter, 3-lane pool. Make sure to check our video to see how it looks like.||The outdoor area is well located and allows you to enjoy the silence of the area. However, children are accepted throughout the facility including the spa.||Upstairs, there is the gym; it is not a very large room, but the machines are new and the overall condition is very good. The view in the cardio equipment area is very pleasant.|The Wi-Fi coverage is not guaranteed everywhere especially near the playground. ||In the evening before dinner, we tried to order an aperitif; to do so you have to use Whatsapp or ask a waiter. On vacation we don’t carry our phone with us all the time. No waiters available for over 15 minutes, so no aperitif this time.||From a gastronomic point of view, the hotel was very disappointing to us. Let's start with breakfast: on the first morning we arrive and are escorted to the table where we already find food. Obviously having been on the table for some time, the fruit is oxidized and the yogurt is at room temperature.||The plates are very small and sharing breakfast is really difficult. |On the second morning, we wait at least 5 minutes before we can be seated as no waiter is present in the room. |When he finally notices us, he doesn’t greet us and simply says “get a seat wherever you want.” But in a rude way. |This time there is nothing ready at the table, we wait a few more minutes and finally, after taking the order of a couple who arrived after us, we can order breakfast.||This kind of breakfast is not at all ideal for several reasons: first of all, we are used to taking only what we eat; therefore, the two croissants and chocolate rolls are left on the table and potentially wasted. Also, there is a lack of local savory items such as cheeses or dried fruits. Basically, we are not against an “a la carte” breakfast, but this mix just doesn't seem to work.||In the evening we also tried the restaurant, the quality of the products is good and the preparation decent. The service is mediocre, often very hurried and sloppy. The glass was never filled and the indications about the wine produced by themselves, are wrong. ||The location is very nice, the facility is well maintained, apart from the shower which could be improved with better maintenance. Unfortunately, however, the breakfast is not acceptable, the gastronomy in general is decent but has room for improvement and should focus more on local products.|We believe that the problems encountered are fixable fairly quickly. This relais has the potential to become a great destination to relax surrounded by nature.||If you are interested in more pictures and details, check out our video review on YouTube @travelwithpassionandstyle

Very relaxing and quiet hotel. The rooms are beautifully designed by artists. The breakfast was ok but not up to what I would have expected from a hotel of this class The swimming pool and the gym are simply stunning The only things I would improve are: Having a bit more storage space in the room. One small closet can be tight for a couple. Also I would add a few more hangers for towels in the bathroom And finally, despite being always polite and nice, the staff could be a bit more engaged and enthusiastic. And last small detail, the bar menu could be expanded a bit as it’s really basic. That being said it’s a great place and I would definitely recommend it

We stayed at Le Marne Relais and it was a unique experience. The location is unparalleled, surrounded by vineyards with breathtaking views, and fruit trees everywhere! The restaurant Radici is exceptional—we dined there twice. The design of the hotel, the rooms, the fitness center, and oh my, that semi Olympic pool. Every detail and material used is exceptional. So much effort has been put into creating this unique experience. Bravo!!

We had a beautiful stay at Le Marne. We enjoyed their amazing fitness facilities (gym and spa with a 25mt pool). Everything looks very high quality and thought through in detail (knowing who the owners are, I am not surprised!) The staff has been exceptional as well, both at the restaurant and reception. We had a small issue and they compensated it swiftly and generously. The Radici restaurant is very good as well. Not Michelin-worthy yet in our experienced opinion but maybe on its way there (at least a recommendation on the guide). The chef tries to make everything in-house so that's a big plus. However, the breakfast at radici could be improved, as their viennoiseries/bread are maybe the only thing that is a bit underwhelming and they could propose a bit more noble proteins by default (even if you can order excellent charcuterie!). Other than that, we have spent a truly wonderful weekend and we will try to be back as soon as possible.
