Where to Stay in Boston When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"This contemporary four-star hotel offers modern, spacious rooms, a 24-hour gym, a rooftop terrace, and an on-site French restaurant serving elevated traditional cuisine; I found the property immaculate with very comfortable beds and good shower pressure, and it’s within walking distance of Harvard and MIT." - Matthew Kepnes

This hotel is further out of the centre but we loved it as it is in a quieter area and still easy to access the centre of Boston by public transport. There are buses & subway. The river is a 15 mins walk. We went kayaking one afternoon. A bottle is supplied in the room to refill with water & there is a fridge. It was nice to have glass instead of plastic glasses. Our only comment was that the water refill station on our floor provided warm water but there is a fridge in the room. |Bathroom was nice & clean & rooms refreshed daily. |The buffet breakfast choice was good & they accommodated my coeliac son with gluten free options. The chef made him his own omelette each day & provided gluten free bread. |Plenty of local places to eat & a gluten free bakery around the corner! We used the Target supermarket to source supplies for lunch.

This was a great hotel located close to a subway stop and only took a few minutes to get into the centre of Boston. The rooms were a good size and comfortable and it was quiet. There are free water refill stations and a fridge in the room. The front desk staff were lovely and very helpful. The only thing that let this hotel down were the breakfast staff. They were rude and unwelcoming. Food wasn't replenished at the buffet in a timely manner. It took 15 minutes for the fruit to be topped up after asking and 10 minutes for the pastries to be topped up. We had a special rate for breakfast and this seemed to confuse them and they kept telling us we had got it wrong. The man on the first day, I think he was called Vinny, was incredibly rude to us. We eventually had to go to the front desk and ask them to speak to the breakfast staff. This happened on 2 out of our 3 mornings there. There was no customer service. The food itself was good. The chefs cooked omelettes and eggs fresh and there was a good selection of fresh fruit and pastries when they were replenished alongside various types of bread. It was just a shame the staff let it down.

Pros: convenient location for dining and exploring MIT. Dog friendly. Front desk is helpful. Clean. Cons: Expensive - and on top of that, you need to add $25 resort fee (why??) and $55 for parking (AFTER “validating”). This means an extra $80 per room (we had 2 rooms- and it got us to north of $400 a night PER ROOM for a hotel that’s nothing to write home about). In addition, while they are dog friendly, they don’t provide perks that are available in other hotels, like dog bowls (or even treats). They have “goodie bags” for platinum Marriott members- we are Gold members so they gave them to the people in front of us but not to us, which seems like bad etiquette. Bottom line: nice rooms, excellent location, but not worth the price.

We stayed at the Le Meridien Cambridge last weekend for a wedding. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The staff was very accommodating, especially Jacob. It was very nice to be recognized and acknowledged as I passed through the lobby and he was quick to respond to my requests. We also enjoyed lounging with our friends each day on the 3rd floor deck. This location worked well for us to walk to the campuses of Harvard and M.I.T.

This is an OK hotel. Nothing is spectacular, but there are a few issues. The lobby has a perpetual sewage smell, right in front of the elevators, so that is not pleasant. The breakfast is very meh, plus no room service at any time. The room itself was fine but there was a lot of noise from the air conditioning system as well as what sounds like constant water sounds from the bathroom area. The one positive was the staff and their quick and kind service.

Rooms (and beds) are quite comfortable. Service was friendly and the location was perfect for my meetings. Menu at hotel restraunt is reasonable for a hotel, and the food was very good. Bar prices are outrageous.

Room smelled faintly of cigarette smoke. Supposed to be smoke free room but you never know for sure what you get. Staff is friendly though and location was very convenient. Beds comfy and nice water carafe fill up of RO water.

Great situation. Very convenient to move around Cambridge and Boston, with the T nearby. The room and bathroom are spacious and comfortable. But the cleaning must be improved. We had stained sheets on the first day. We got instant replacement + breakfast coupons when I called reception about it. So that was handled very professionnally. And daily cleaning was irregular. Towels behind the door only changed once, while others daily, ice bucket not cleaned, etc. And the sheets were always very creased, so the bed never really felt fresh, clean and tidy. Breakfast was varied and delicious. Personnel was always helpful and attentive.
