I stayed for three nights. The location is pretty central and everything was pretty good.
I got a coupon for the breakfast buffet so I took advantage of that. It includes things like fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, breakfast meats, potatoes, egg French toast (not custardy), and various breads and pastries. You can also order omelettes or pancakes and it comes with coffee/tea and/or orange juice. Service there is fairly decent but you usually have to wait a bit until you find someone who'll take your order. Also, they tend not to listen. Both mornings, they sort of suggested an omelette for me, not that I'm opposed but I had wanted pancakes and an omelette the second time. He literally told me he'd make me a vegetable omelette and then immediately walked off to do just that. I gave up.
The room was shared with my husband. It was pretty roomy and the bathroom was nice. We had a door connecting to the neighboring room and that in addition to the main door had minimal protection against noise. Basically, I hope your neighbors are quiet, otherwise you'll hear everything. The first night, our neighbors were Chinese. The second and third, they were rambunctious teenagers on some trip.
We decided to put up the little sign on the door opting out of getting our towels and linens changed the first night. The second night, I took it back; the bathroom gets a bit crowded when you have used towels lying about. Funny enough, our room was never cleaned the entire three nights we were there. One plus: we did get complimentary bottled water and you can ask for more at the front desk like we had to.
We were going to another city after Boston and later that night, I discovered at the new hotel that I had left my laptop charger in the room. I called and the person at the front desk said to call between 8 and 4 and ask for housekeeping because he couldn't help me. I called the next day between the specified hours and no one picked up so I left a message. I gave them a couple of days and yet nothing. Staff seems to do just the bare minimum or what they want.
The bottom line:
- Good location (next to MIT, 10 minute walk to nearest subway stop, ~$20 for Uber from the airport, ~$17 to Uber to South Station)
- Tons of vegetarian/vegan places within walking dustabce (I'm a vegetarian)
- Pretty decent breakfast buffet
- Staff could be a lot more helpful
