One of the best hotels I've stayed at. Ever. Hands down. No contest, no question, no nothing. Don't even try me on this!
I've been meaning to stay here foreeeeever. I had never even thought to stay at the Le Meridien until the Marriott-Starwood merger (#marriott4life), so when it happened I knew this hotel was on the top of the list. It still took me awhile to get around to choose the Joseph because I'm a cheap hobo and prefer the mid-price of the Renaissance & Courtyard. I finally took a shot and splurged on a room here, and boy was I glad that I did.
The valet is normal, they welcome you and take your car. The lobby is striking. They have an open bar and doors to their restaurant, Guild House, on the left, and an open seating area as well as the check in desk on your right. There's beautiful artwork all throughout the lobby. I almost felt out of place because I walked in with some leggings and flip flops on. The desk agents didn't make me feel less than for showing up like a bum to such a nice hotel, and we struck up a pleasant conversation about the Blue Jackets game I came for. We were checked in quickly and given our keys.
The room faced the back of the building toward the highway, but I didn't mind. I don't typically stay long in my hotel rooms. It's cool if it has a view but it's not the end of the world if it doesn't. The artwork in our room was a photography series titled "Lydia's Last Halloween", which was simple yet thought provoking. They offer illy coffee in the room. The room was meticulously cleaned and the beds were super comfortable. In the bathroom, everything was well kept, and there were more basic complimentary amenities than a hotel typically gives you.
When we got back to the hotel, we ordered some room service before re-heading out for the night. We ordered Korean chicken wings, a mushroom flatbread and some truffle fries. It was honestly some of the best room service I'd ever had. Everything was super flavorful, and the presentation was well thought out and refined. The only thing I was bummed about was that they didn't give us a bottle opener for our Diet Cokes so we just blankly stared at it. We clearly weren't intelligent enough at the time to call and ask for a bottle opener. Oh well.
Every single part of this hotel is beautiful. The lobby, rooms, restaurant, and the spa (I only assume on this because I did not try it) are the definition of a luxury boutique. I didn't request much during my stay, but I have a feeling that if given the chance the staff would be the type to go above and beyond. The location is perfect, and the only thing I could possibly be upset about is my own stupid accord to take forever to try this hotel. Le Meridien will definitely be my first choice for future stays in Columbus.
