"How did it strike you on arrival?Le Meridien definitely has a modern vibe. Walk in off of Battery Street in downtown San Francisco and you're greeted by diagonal black beams running up the walls and ceilings, a tall, metal, palm tree-style sculpture surrounded by a glass circular staircase, bright blue leather chairs, and modern art on the walls, including a colorful, floral, laser-cut sculpture by David Kracov. Carpets are gray, with stripes flowing in various directions, and the bar is an intriguing striped piece of stone. Nice. What’s the crowd like? Thanks to its location in the Financial District, there are a lot of business travelers here, but tourists, too. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Rooms at Le Méridien are filled with light, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. Tones are mostly neutral—gray carpets, light walls, white linens—with orange accents in curtains and throw pillows. Some rooms feature wall-sized maps of San Francisco, which is a fun touch, and windows open, if you feel like a Bay breeze. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Pillow-top mattresses and down blankets add a bit of cozy. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?Turn-down service is always a plus. (Minibar is pretty standard). Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Products are by Malin & Goetz, and the countertops are granite. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wi-Fi is $12.95 per day. Room service: Worth it?The Méridien's menu offers standards like a $17 cheese pizza and New York steak frites ($26), but also $5 eclairs between 6:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.For a fee, guests can access the pool at the nearby Bay Club. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? Thanks to its height and location, some of the room views are pretty spectacular. Bottom line: worth it, and why?If you need to be in the Financial District, the location is great, and the vibe is pleasant. Luxury travelers would be underwhelmed." - Elise Craig

I've stayed a couple times and the location can't be beat. Views from higher floors can be really impressive. This time they happened to be deep into major renovation/remodel and my room has been redone and it was wonderful. Always impressed with the staff and having seen the redone rooms, I can promise I will be back once the work is completed and food/bar are once again available.

My husband and I stayed at le meridian at the end of May, I have been debating on leaving a review or not, but the more I think about it the more I’m becoming less happy with our experience. We came into town for a friends wedding and stayed here since the bride and groom were as well. First gripe was that online it says they are doing renovations but it does not say that the bar, restaurant and continental breakfast would not be open. For breakfast you have the option of coffee in the lobby or room service that was $16 for eggs and toast. It also fails to mention that you can not enter through the main entrance, you have to use the small entrance at the side near the parking lot (which was also not available). Second was when we got to our room we found a letter apologizing for the renovation and that we were to accept a complementary bottle of wine as an apology, great attempt, the wine wasn’t in our room. when the front desk was asked about it and they said they would send one and it never showed, even after our 4 day stay. We could hear everything through the paper thin walls and door, the mattress is hard and the blankets were low quality and all the filling was bunched into little balls throughout. We couldn’t connect to the WiFi without paying for it, even with the code they gave us at the desk. Luckily they were able to waive the fee during checkout cause we are Marriott members. For being a 4.5 star hotel that was not cheep to stay in, we were at least expecting better costumer service. We are understanding that some things may be closed or need to be adjusted for renovations but at least let your customers know that before booking so that we can make the call to stay here or not. Location and views were amazing with a good size room but that was the only good of this experience.

It's a decent hotel. The rooms are big but dated. They upgraded me to a luxury suite - which was great. Had a partial view of the bay bridge. Best part of the hotel is the staff. Nihad at front desk went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable. Folks at the bar were also really nice and attentive. They do need to add more staff for breakfast. Expect delays, esp when the hotel is busy.

Been staying here on and off for the last year. It's a fairly normal Marriott group hotel, always clean, happy to stay here. However, where this place really goes above and beyond is the service. I check in around the same time and Kat at the front desk is always amazing and friendly and super helpful. Additionally the bar staff is friendly, hardworking and really knowledgeable! Ask them for their wine recommendations and you won't be led astray. Overall 10/10 would recommend.

The hotel is great, although renovating. As a titanium member,I’ve been upgraded to studio suite. The room with new decoration is really modern and elegant, and the bed is comfortable. The most important thing is all the staff are kindness and enthusiasm. I’ll back next time.

Our first time in San Francisco and our stay at Le Meridien was perfect. Central to many activities that we wanted to hit and right on the edge of wonderful Chinatown. The hotel is updated and very clean. Our room was beautiful and had an amazing view of the bay. The morning coffee station at the lobby near the elevators was super convenient. Would definitely stay here again!

A favourite of ours, which didn't disappoint on a recent visit. Staff are always professional & helpful and do their best to meet requests; several said on this visit how much they enjoyed working there. Rooms are comfortable, well-designed, chic and modern. The view from our room was stunning. We enjoyed the daily evening receptions, a nice touch from the hotel to show appreciation to guests and to compensate them for any inconvenience during the hotel's renovation programme. The location was perfect for us; we could walk to many of the places we want to visit but there's also a very good choice of public transport. Special thanks go to the guys who were always waiting by the door to welcome us back to the hotel despite the very chilly weather. We stayed an extra three nights because we didn't want to leave, and hope to return soon to see what the 'transformation' reveals.

Nice place to stay. Under construction for a little bit. But didn’t need the hotel for the amenities/ conference rooms. The elevator can give your stomach a roller coaster vibe. Safe, very clean. The wheat pancakes for breakfast were delicious.
