We had our wedding block here in October and the service could not have been better. The bridal suite is STUNNING and huge, I toured a lot of the DC area hotels looking at bridal suite options and this suite was not only one of the better priced but also the best size and aesthetic! It has recently been renovated and is seriously gorgeous. All of the bridesmaids and family were raving. The balcony with a Washington Monument view??? Plus two bathrooms! Plenty of space and outlets, and lots of natural light for hair and makeup and breakfast, breakfast was also in the separate kitchen area which I loved! Truly could not think of a better place to get ready. We worked with Riva on the block and the bridal suite and could not have a better experience, she even thought to send up two extra full length mirrors to the suite. All of our guests raved checking out about how great the stay was and how kind the staff was. We had shuttle buses for wedding pick up and drop off and it was so easy, they have a little pull off which makes it perfect, and we just let them know ahead of time and they coordinated and made sure it all ran smooth for pick up/drop off. They also have taxis ready and waiting which is so handy. The Madison made it the perfect DC weekend.

My first time at this hotel in DC. Staff were great, great communication before I arrived. Excellent checkin and was given an upgraded room with a view. Marriot Member Lounge is a nice perk - good for quick bite and a good place to do some work and just relax and chat if you have a group. In the end I took the Metro from DCA - VERY easy - Just 3 blocks from the McPherson Square station and a deal for $2.95! Wish they gave access to streaming channels, but I'm not in room long enough to be glued t TV.

This hotel was great overall! The young lady who checked me in, I believe Olivia was her name, forgive me if incorrect - was super helpful and vibrant w great energy. I needed help from the front desk a few separate times during my two night stay and I knew every time I saw her there Id get great service with a smile! Those are the type of employees businesses need to value and keep around...and train and promote on customer care!

Upon arrival, Kenny greeted me warmly and informed me about all of the hotel’s amenities while also detailing my status benefits. My guest and I visited the bar, where we met Abdul. He was delightful! His attention to detail is unmatched and he was incredibly helpful, making our stay fantastic. I can't forget to mention Chef David; although I haven't met him, his food is amazing! Shoutout to Ghana! 🫶 I will definitely be back.

Google
Such a nice hotel, clean and gorgeous. Highly recommend. The bar was a highlight of the trip. Abdul was the best waiter ever, he made our trip amazing. He was the highlight of our trip. Took such good care of us and went above and beyond when my friends and I were at the hotel bar.

We were able to stay basically in the heart of DC within walking distance of so many places! Super convenient. Best part was working with Olivia who was incredibly helpful during our stay and was an absolute delight to work with. Looking forward to my next work trip and staying here.

I don't like posting marginal reviews, but am a Titanium Elite Marriott member and was told I'd have to pay for an upgrade when the hotel had plenty of rooms. Not a good start especially when we had two rooms and my kiddos in tow. The M Club was the worst I've been too nationwide with almost no food and beer/wine for 1 hour of the 3 hour time frame and location is a bit further from National Mall than ideal. Odd to say the least. Rooms say remodeled, but are beat and need renovation. Other Marriott properties are much better. It's not terrible, but paying for a small upgrade is something we've never experienced when it's part of my 20 year loyalty to Marriott. Yikes.

We had a great stay at the Meridien on a weekend, booked via Hotel Tonight. We loved the room. Very clean, spacious and nicely furnished. The only thing which could have been better was the view, but since we booked via a discount site it was clear that we wouldn’t get an upgraded view

Yelp
My fiancé and I stayed here for a little Thanksgiving long weekend away. We were super excited to stay at what we thougth was a fully renovated hotel. Check-in was pretty quick even though there was a long line. The concierge who checked us in confirmed our questions about it fully being renovated. The lobby is really nice, I loved the door men who would open the door for you. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again. The bed was really uncomfortable for me. One could argue it'd be comfy for someone else, but I found the bed to be a bit harder than I would've liked, the pillows too tall, and the sheets a little too scratchy. While it was pretty central, I do wish it was closer to a metro station. It's a central spot if you don't mind walking. Which, I do love walking, but we found ourselves staying closer to within a mile. I also wish they had more soft lighting available in the room. The staff was great here and it was centrally located.

Yelp
I am giving this hotel 2 stars on the back of its excellent location and nicely redecorated rooms. Sadly it only deserves one star for service. Upon returning close to 7:00 PM, I was surprised to find that housekeeping had forgotten my room. After trying to unsuccessful call the front desk, I gave up and went downstairs as nobody answered the phone. The very young and clearly inexperienced (but very friendly) front desk team's response was yes, they should have cleaned the room. When I pressed them, asking WHEN housekeeping could come, they were confused and said something to the effect of "gee, we don't know." Anfter many phone calls and an unsuccessful search for thr MIA duty manager, I was promised that housekeeping would come soon." After nearly 2 hours, a housekeeper (who reeked of Marijuana) showed up. The other service issue is the lounge for Bonvoy elite members. The food is mediocre but the woman attendant is aggressively lazy: sparkling water and other items are never restocked and even simple requests are treated like an imposition. Do yourself a favor: DC & Bonvoy have plenty of superior properties that employ motivated and trained professionals, not to mention have supervisory staff on site!

Yelp
Email to management as follows As my concerns was never acknowledged or responded to! Greetings, I would like to address a couple of concerns regarding my recent stay at Le Meridien. Firstly, I must commend the exceptional comfort of my room and the pleasant night's rest it provided. However, I feel compelled to bring to your attention two issues that significantly impacted my experience, both of which pertain to the conduct of your staff members. During check-in, I encountered a situation where the desk agent, a young lady wearing glasses, mentioned a policy regarding employee discount rooms and upgrades. While I appreciate the gesture of granting me an upgrade with my elite membership, it was disconcerting for her to mention up grades aren't allowed for employee discounts, especially given my Platinum Elite status.I was not informed of this policy while staying at other Marriott properties, despite being a frequent traveler.Nevertheless, I was taken aback by the comment made by your staff here at Le Meridian. Furthermore, I had an unpleasant interaction at the bar around 9:30 pm. Despite arriving before the last call, I was urged to hurry and place my order quickly as they were closing the bar. I ordered a margarita from the bartender on duty, who I believe is of Asian descent. Subsequently, two couples arrived and were served by another bartender, who I understand is Ethiopian. I observed a difference in the treatment I received compared to the couples, as the Asian bartender displayed impatience and an ill-mannered tone when reminding me to settle my check by tapping the check book I already had opened in front of me, urging me to hurry and sign. I corrected his lack of manners. This behavior was unwarranted, especially considering that new customers were still being served. I settled my bill promptly and left without receiving an apology. I must express my disappointment at the lack of professionalism displayed by the staff members during my stay. Such behavior is uncharacteristic of the Marriott brand, and it has left me hesitant to return to your establishment or recommend it to others in the future. I trust that you will address these concerns promptly to ensure a more positive experience for future guests. Thank you for your attention to this matter. This matter could have been addressed in a review, however, I prefer to discuss my concerns directly.

Yelp
We all have our own travels for work and needs with the day. On a work trip it was a blessing to meet Aaron. He truly made sure I understood all the things the hotel had to offer. Most importantly his kindness was truly a joy. Long work trips you are typically tired and hungry. He made sure I got my room quick and could enjoy the food too.

Yelp
The Madison is convenient and clean; the room window is well-insulated from street noise with good blackout shades. Bathroom is roomy enough with a shower stall (no tub). Bed is very comfortable. My main quibble though is that there is no in-room coffee/tea amenities! Mini-bar - check; snack foods (non-complimentary) - check; bottled water (non-complimentary) - check; ice bucket - check. But no coffee or tea?? So I have to get dressed and go down to the lobby for my freaking necessary coffee when I wake up? Geez Madison, even budget motels provide instant coffee in the room. For this inconvenience, I deduct a star.

Yelp
My husband and I were in DC for TEDxLogan Circle, which was being held at the Madison Hotel. We booked a 4 night stay at the hotel. Our room was on the 3rd floor. I loved the design of the room. The beds were very comfortable, with the softest and coolest mattress topper. We both remarked that we slept well there. The doormen were all friendly and said hello whenever we returned to the hotel, which was nice and made us feel at home (home away from home). I enjoyed my stay at the Madison Hotel and would book a room here again.

Yelp
I was attending a conference at the Madison Hotel and was lucky enough to also be able to stay there. The rooms were large and clean, and on our hall it was very quiet. The front desk staff, as well as the bell hops, were so nice!! They all deserve five stars. For example, on a rainy day, I was looking for a brunch place in walking distance, and they made a suggestion and immediately offered an umbrella. It is also nice that they are in walking distance of the White House and Dupont Circle. The only negative about the Madison is that they make you pay $25 each to have a microwave and mini fridge in your room. I did not agree with this at all!!

Kristina D.

Yelp
Our room was fine and so was the stay. But my quip is that this place tries to be fancy without offering upscale amenities or grounds. The staff was nice, bed was comfy, but the sheets were scratchy, towels were not matching, and we had 3 pillows on our bed (4 should be standard). My other complaint is they charged us for the minibar multiple times (which we didn't touch). They reversed the charges but I had to rectify this error twice with the front desk.

Kristina R.

Yelp
The hotel is certainly not a dump, but the lack of amenities and parking dissuades me from ever staying here again (plenty of nice options in the area). Firstly, the staff was phenomenal. Ms. Olivia and her manager (very tall man) were outstanding, I cannot thank Ms. Olivia enough for her help. PARKING: I checked in around 1pm, paid for self-parking ($35) at the garage labeled Madison Hotel parking, then left for work. I came back at 8:40pm to the attendant refusing me entry to the garage. No other garage was open that late at night. $71 hotel valet was all that was available. I called and spoke to Ms. Olivia who understood my plight (I was not going to pay for parking twice), and told me to park in valet and come inside. She figured out immediately the gentleman next door should've never charged me and offered me complimentary valet for the night. Prior to speaking to her, I spent over an hour trying to figure this out. Her manager immediately agreed with her. Their help and professionalism made such a mark and I'm very grateful. ROOM: The room was nice, bed was incredibly comfortable, luxurious shower, but no fridge. The fridge in the room is automated that if anything moves you are charged so they want you not to store anything in it to be safe. I appreciate they warn people about this. But cold water is a must for me, especially at a nice hotel. AMENITIES: The bar on site was not open while I was there, which was a bummer. I'm used to the hotel bar being open to at least 10p for drinks. The elevator in the garage was down, and one of the elevators in the hotel was also down. Unfortunately they kept it on the first floor, so when you rang for an elevator it would just open and close the broken lift's doors over and over. They did fix this by the morning. All in all, would likely not return because of parking and no fridge, but I do appreciate the wonderful staff.

Yelp
Boutique hotel under Marriott. Service good. Rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast was good and reasonable. Gold member area was good and drinks until 10pm. Reasonable price for downtown DC.

Yelp
Service: 5* Accommodations: 5* Price: 3* Amenities: 4* Stayed here for the weekend. Opted for the terrace room (WAAAY worth it). Arrived on a Friday night, to great service and a very warm welcome. The room was beautiful! Very large, comfy and with a great terrace. A separate living room no bedroom. Helps you feel like you are NOT in a hotel room. I'f you have status, the lounge or Madison Club was a great respite from the lobby. Great breakfast and a space away from the hustle and bustle. Room was well appointed and the terrace, can we talk about the terrace? Huge and very comfortable. What a great experience to have access to outside during a hotel stay. I will return.

Yelp
Stayed here for two nights after a terrible sleepless night at the Courtyard hotel near Dulles. I booked two nights at Le Méridien Madison through the Amex Platinum Fine Hotels Collection and received impeccable service from everyone I encountered. Upon checking in, I was greeted with a smile and two water bottles, and received a sheet of paper explaining what perks I would receive as an Amex Platinum member. The receptionist asked if there was anything else she could do for me and I jokingly asked for the quietest room available as I was so sleep deprived from the right before thanks to the noisy HVAC unit at the Courtyard in Dulles. She ensured me she put me in a room far away as possible from the elevator. She even asked if they could send up a coffee maker, which arrived promptly. Upon entering my room, I immediately crawled into bed. These beds are SO comfortable! I ordered calamari, which was delivered so fast and tasted amazing, and dozed off immediately afterwards. I finally felt so much better after getting some sleep after being awake for over 24 hours. The next day I ordered a white chocolate mocha and salmon from the restaurant downstairs (both were incredible). The room was so comfortable and quiet despite being in the middle of the city. Really appreciate the staff and the young lady who checked me in and made me feel so welcome. Le Meridien Madison is a quiet and comforting enclave in the middle of the nation's capital.

Yelp
Marriooooooooot!!! WHAT?!?! Someone is lying on their reports because this hotel is sooooo lack luster! I chose to stay here for a free night and when I tell you, I checked out and snatched my free night back!! I was so excited to spend a night downtown but when I got there there was like a prom going on and the upgrade they gave me was so old, dusty and dilapidated that I just couldn't bring myself to lay in the bed and go to sleep. Then, the tv didn't work and I'm not even a tv girlie but sheesh!! They brought another tv and that sucker didn't work either so I moved to another room and something was wrong with that room and so I politely checked out maybe an hour or two after arrival. Disappointed isn't even where I'd begin lol but I had to let the people know. Find someplace else!! Maybe they've done some updates since that stay but even for free, it was a no for me!

Evelyn B.

Yelp
I've stayed here at least three times and it just keeps getting worse. I just feel like there's just not any effort going into cleaning the rooms other than the bathrooms, towel and amenity replacement, fixing beds and vacuuming. That's it. There's was so much dust on the nightstand, lampshade and the console table! I arrived super late at night and ended up just dusting everything myself with wet towels. The furniture and decor is also outdated and just tired-looking. The front desk and valets/bell staff are very helpful, with directions and suggestions. The downstairs lobby and restaurant are are nice enough. Given the lack of preparation my room was given, I put my do not disturb sign out and just left out towels and trash when I needed new towels, which were left kindly by my door in a plastic bag. I didn't need amenities replaced and I didn't want any more dust flying around from the vacuuming. Note that the front desk was cashless when I checked in (not sure this is just an evening thing or all the time?), so be sure to bring smaller bills for tips. I would pass on the Madison and pay the extra $$ for the Marriott Marquis.

Yelp
NIGHTMARE SITUATION. If I could give it 0 stars I would. This hotel was absolutely awful and staff was mean and told us they would extend the stay then did not do it. I give you my word they are totally unfair and rude. We booked 3 days and realized we needed 4, so we asked and they said we were good and they'd book another day. Days comes and it turns out they didn't then we asked for help and they charged us a nearly $300 late fee and also charged us for wines which we didn't consume. They then made us go to the room and take pictures of the wines they said we drank. They removed the stuff we didn't eat but still charged us a late fee. We have videos of everything we didn't touch. The staff was incredibly mean, we have never had such a negative experience Im literally shocked. Please if you're reading this heed my advice and go elsewhere. The hotel refused to cancel the late fee nor did they give us the extra day even though no one was going to use the room, we were booted to the street and had to go to another hotel. The best part is we were going to leave at 4 am so they'd have the room the next day. Plus my sister got locked out of the room because her card wasn't working and I was away, they refused to help her because she didn't have her ID even though she knew the names and room number AND had a card- at 1 am- they wouldn't even call the room for her, actually unbelievable. GO ELSEWHERE! UPDATE: We went to corporate and they refused to do anything and the manager of the hotel lied about what happened and claimed we never called them about this. Corporate refused to do anything because they already discounted the wine which we were already charged for unfairly, in other words they did nothing. The manager was so smug about the whole situation because she knew she could get away with anything. Corporate also approved of leaving a little girl locked out of a room at 1 am for over an hour. We will never be staying at a Marriott again. I honest to God can't believe this situation. It is what it is at this point, it's on this woman's soul, as well as the people at corporate which we spoke to, which they'll have to answer for one day. Overall do not go here whatsoever, they are awful. We'll have to go to the better business bureau and write to the president of the company to hopefully get something done about this injustice.

Jane P.

Yelp
Cute spot. Central location. We even found street parking steps away. We had the King Deluxe. The room is not super large but very comfy and has everything you need. Service was good. Bed was a tad hard, but I prefer that to mushy. Walls are thin. Can hear our neighbor talking - maybe he was just loud.

Christina T.

Yelp
Cannot believe we got scolded for entering the club lounge when we were told by front desk that while it was only manned til 10pm most days, it was 24-hour access otherwise. Cannot believe my husband apologized. She should've apologized to us and trained her front desk staff better if it's not actually 24-hour access. Why does the keycard work then?

Michael D.

Yelp
We had a most wonderful 5 day stay at the Madison Hotel. It is a convenient location to see all the sights DC has to offer. The hotel is beautiful and was decorated fully for the holiday season. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and had a wonderful disposition. Emmanuel was extraordinary and went out of his way to make our stay memorable. Our elegant room was a corner suite overlooking M street and 15th. It was very clean and well appointed with all the needed essentials. The delectable morning breakfast was a perfect start to our day.The overall staff kindness from housekeeping, doormen, and support staff was impressive.

Matthew R.

Yelp
I'm updating this review because the hotel management reached out to make this right. Indeed my room was improperly given away, and I was substantially overcharged (more than initially believed). With that said, management quickly remedied the situation and offered to make it up to me in the future. I appreciated the apologetic tone and prompt response.

Tanya C.

Yelp
Nice hotel located very close to a lot of things. I felt like the hotel staff not very friendly, but nice enough. Our room was nice, view was eh, but it had everything we needed and was very roomy. The main negative was the fire alarm that went off very early in the morning... guess a car hit a sprinkler in the garage. It woke us up and we made our way out of the building. After seeing almost no one we went inside to hear the staff telling everyone that it was a false alarm.

Wayne N.

Yelp
The staff is wonderful and the lobby is gorgeous. I didn't like the fact that I paid $1,100 for 2 nights in a Junior Suite with a terrace and my room was dirty. All the surfaces including my headboard had caked on dust. My bed had a repugnant round stain in the middle which wasn't discovered until after I got in bed. I had to change my own bed at 9pm. When I turned on the lights, the shades had con webs in them... I travel a lot for the our family corporation - business and pleasure and spend substantial amounts of money to stay in elite suites, to avoid instances like this one. I avoid sub-par hotels for luxury accommodations and this hotel fell short once I walked in my room. The staff was fantastic but the accommodations themselves were disappointing for the dollar amount spent and what is advertised as luxury.

Allison G.

Yelp
Abdul (waiter) is amazing. Customer service is overall great. The hotels recent renovations make it fresh, attractive and non-offensive (they had some offensive wall paper in the rooms, IMO). I've stayed here twice. The service is consistent. The location is great!

Toni B.

Yelp
I would give this hotel one star based off my most recent experience but luckily my first experience with them was pleasant enough. The first time I stayed at The Madison it was a newer conversion but the overall stay was pretty decent. I definitely did not feel being a status Bonvoy member made any difference. The hotel bar is cute and had good drinks. The second time, I will not bore you with details but the desk manger was extremely extremely rude and unprofessional. I frequent DC often and I will definitely not stay or recommend this hotel to anyone. I was very disappointed with not only Marriott but mainly the hotel in how my situation was handled.

Adam D.

Yelp
I stayed here for about 10 nights and had an overall good experience. Pros: - Check in was smooth - The rooms are comfortably sized - The location is great - Breakfast is good but it's literally the same items every day. The roasted potatoes never got old. - The gym is spacious and has a lot of equipment - The lobby bar has nice food and booze options - The friendly doormen - Housekeeping was friendly, efficient and clean Cons: - check out was painful. I spent 15 minutes with the front desk trying to get them to separate room charges from extras. For whatever reason, the employee was taking pictures of my bill with her personal phone. I ultimately left without the separated charges because I had to catch my flight. A simple request should not have taken so long. - The bartender's attitude in the lobby bar was very unpleasant. The same employee seemed to be working every night so I ended up not going back just to avoid her.

Marq C.

Yelp
5 stars for BEST location with tons of restaurants and bars in walking distance, outstanding service by Hector (front desk), value (got a steal deal from a third party), cleanliness and organization, beautiful ambiance and decor, spacious rooms... This is located half mile away from the White House and a mile away from the National Mall. I couldn't be happier with the location we walked everywhere. PARKING: tons of street parking, FREE on Sundays. Otherwise, approx $60 per day for parking at the hotel. Many thanks to Hector for being so welcoming, professional, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. He is the 5th star of this review! Enjoy your stay!

Sarah G.

Yelp
Scam. I have made three phone calls to beg them to take a $12 bottle of water off my bill from the robobar that is perched on top of the furniture, making us look at the mess of junk sitting there and we can't even move it into the closet so we don't have to look at candy bars and mess sitting out. Then, they scam us by very sweetly saying they will remove the accidental charge from the bill but then "forgetting" twice. They know we don't have time to beg for our own $12 back. Of course, it's the principle.

HarV S.

Yelp
I really enjoy staying here every time I'm in the Washington DC area. In my mind, it's almost close to everything! The White House and a row of the best restaurants D.C. has to offer is literally around the corner, very short walk. I wish the bar opened before 4pm. What about mimosas in the morning??? Please consider opening the bar earlier. I think I know why they don't. The Marriott staff is accommodating and professional. I enjoyed the morning breakfast buffet, very decent and convenient. The food from lady Madison is delicious as well. I will definitely stay here again. This is like my fourth or fifth stay at the Madison.

Lizzy x.

Yelp
This hotel is so HORRIFIC, I made a Yelp account just to make this review. If I could give this hotel 0 stars, I would. We booked 5 nights, they took away our room after 4 and the horrifically NASTY front desk lady charged us 500$ for nothing. Also charged us for food we did not eat / order and forced us to pay. HORRIBLE SERVICE. HORRIBLE PEOPLE. I am disgusted. NEVER coming back.

Michelle Z.

Yelp
Let me just get straight to the point; BED BUGS. My husband and I stayed overnight this past week and realized upon leaving we had bedbugs. I have never experienced this from a hotel before and it is horrifying on many levels. When my husband contacted the hotel yesterday they said the manager has already left for the day and would connect with us the following day. Not only has no one reached out to us yet but they didn't even express they were sorry or thay they were going to check the room. So not only can you get bed bugs here but apparently mediocre service at a 4-star hotel. We have now reached out to Marriot (and are waiting to hear back) since clearly this isn't an important issue to The Madison. Meanwhile, I spent the entire night cleaning our clothes in hopes that we didn't bring any home. I threw out my nice luggage and toiletries as it was recommended to limit any spreading. We're covered in bites and extremely itchy. And, we're going to pay for an exterminator to come to our home to see if we brought any home and if they're in our car. I expected way more from a luxury hotel. At the bare minimum, I understand this happens and can be out of their control. However, it is in their control how they respond and take action.

Brandon F.

Yelp
I couldn't speak higher if this place. I had a GREAT stay at the Madison, the rooms were lovely and the staff was super helpful. I would like to give a special shout out to the front desk clerk Josh, who literally couldn't have been a nicer, cooler, more helpful person. He helped me out with everything from finding good places to eat and fun things to do, to just being a generally nice rad guy to talk to. He was as good as they come, exceptionally so. But all the staff was great too, another standout was Micah at the front desk, who was delightful and super helpful. I'm traveling as a musician, and my plans were always changing, and they literally couldn't have made it easier to accommodate my ever-changing schedule and crazy hours, it also seemed like a really cool place for families and tourists to be traveling to. I never write Yelp reviews, but the staff here stood out so I felt like I had to say something. Good stuff. I had a great stay, great area, beautiful hotel, etc. Thanks Madison staff.

Samantha S.

Yelp
Wonderful stay at the Madison Hotel. We arrived super early and was granted early check in. What a lifesaver as we got little sleep the night before. Overall, we felt the hotel was clean and comfortable. Everyone was friendly and we got free breakfast including the day we arrived.

Gigi D.

Yelp
The management is unprofessional and rude. I would NEVER recommend this horrendous hotel. It is not the hotel itself. The hotel has a SERIOUS management issue and they will treat you in an incredibly nasty, disrespectful way if they decide they want to be mean. The simple fact is these people are mean. Buyer beware.

Windie V.

Yelp
After a long day just getting to DC, Dennis was a blessing. He was so positive and helpful and was just the personality I needed after a rough day of traveling. The room is kinda on the small size but the detail is amazing. It is a very clean hotel and all the staff I have interacted with have been so happy and so helpful. The drinks in the bar area were delicious and Abdul was again so positive and attentive. I will definitely stay in the hotel again when in town.

Yelp
Was pleasantly surprised by my stay at The Madison this week. My room (including the bathroom) was clean and modern. If it had been updated recently I couldn't tell - everything seemed new new and no "cheap" fixes, as many older hotels have. The only downside to my room was that the stocked mini bar was locked, and I was told it was "not in use". All the staff i encountered were incredibly friendly - from the front desk, to the security guard, the guy at the market, and even the housekeeping that stopped by my room. One weird thing that did happen was a guy came to my room this morning while i was working to "change the battery on the lock" which he had to do from inside the room. It took all of 2 minutes though so not a huge deal. In summary, it seems like Marriott has done a good job bringing this hotel up to its standards. I used to be a Hilton girl but since they decided to cease all housekeeping during (and now after) the pandemic, I've switched to Marriott, where there is a slightly higher chance you'll get your room cleaned daily - which did occur here I might add, without me even having to ask Will consider the Madison for my future trips to DC.

Yelp
Friendly staff and good breakfast. If breakfast wasn't included with our stay as rewards members I wouldn't buy it. I wound rather use that money to try something new and possibly cheaper in DC. I did order dinner one night and it was very good.

Yelp
Great location. Nice ballroom. Catering was above average and a good breakfast selection considering all of the comparable alternatives in the area. This is my favored full service hotel in downtown D.C.

Yelp
Clean hotel, nice lobby with music, bar and easy access to a lot of good restaurants nearby.

Yelp
Hotel is great. Nice staff, doormen, receptionist. Unfortunately, that's where it ends. Bar, Lady Madison, is not a straightforward establishment. When ordering a drink, bartender didn't have a whisky (Bayden Hayden) for the drink offered on the drink menu but said she had another spirit which was lower priced. I said ok. Turns out the drink she offered was far higher priced than what was on menu. The drink advertised on the menu was already very expensive. Drink she charged for on the bill was even higher. Whole experience was unpleasant. Why would you have a drink on the menu but not have the ingredients? My first two selections from menu were not available due to bar not having ingredients. Ok, so I kept going thru the list. Then, why offer a different drink , state it was less expensive, then charge more? Believe this bar is a "bait & switch". They bait you with one drink on the menu, say they don't have all the ingredients, then sell you a nearly identical drink, claim it's a lower priced drink, but end up charging more ($19). All while hoping the consumer doesn't notice. Very unpleasant experience. Really deceptive and wrong. Buyer beware. Sadly, it's a Marriott hotel property. Far better bars, far more honest, that are far more pleasant.

Yelp
Stayed here for symposium. Nice hotel, great service and house keeping, friendly staff, concierge is really helpful, full gym, quick Uber to all the museums, monuments, fun neighborhoods like Adams Morgan. They don't have personal fridges in the rooms though. You have to dial 0 or talk to the front desk to get your personal items refrigerated which is weird to me. To mini bar in the room is fully automated and locked.

Yelp
Awful experience would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The customer service (everyone from the front desk to the manager Vanessa) was terrible.

Yelp
Nice and clean hotel. The workers are super nice and attentive. The gym is big and has some good equipment. The only thing was they didn't offer self parking. They only offer valet which is $55 a night.

Yelp
Nice, spacious room. Breakfast setup plentiful and delicious. Lobby area comfortable and attractive. Had trouble reaching front desk from room on 3 different occasions. Rang and rang. Mini-bar fridge was stuck open so nothing was cold. Front desk staff were curt and not particularly warm or welcoming.

Yelp
AVOID AT ALL COST! One of the worst experiences I've ever had in a Marriott hotel in the country when it comes to the billing and handling of the transactions. First off they don't tell you that they will charge your card the cost of the room in incidentals when you arrive at the hotel. It's taken over 2 weeks for them to figure out how to charge a gift card and than issue my refund. Let alone, get ahold of anyone at this hotel is practically impossible. Went for a small honeymoon and asked for a upgrade because were platinum members. Got bumped to a "penthouse". Not a penthouse at all. Don't waste your money on a room that has paper thin walls, nowhere's to store food or drinks besides paying $25 a day to open the mini fridge, and than get a small room not even worth being called a penthouse. Still fighting with them to get my money back and not a priority at all. Will never stay here again and I suggest you don't either

Yelp
I left three voicemails over three days for the manager to request assistance with being added to the room block. I never got a call back, so I booked a room at another hotel.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I were looking to take a short vacation to visit her family in DC. We found this hotel, it looked beautiful. Unforutnately, never had the chance to stay there. This place has provided the worst customer service I've ever received from any establishment. I will summarize the story as quickly as possible. May 25th - We booked the hotel through Expedia. May 26th - The day after, something came up for me for work. My girlfriend called the hotel and asked if a full refund was possible and the agent FROM THE MADISON HOTEL said YES! The cancellation was executed (so we thought). On the booking, it said it was a "non-refundable booking". The hotel's agent should have said that a refund wasn't possible over the phone and did not. June 20th - Unbeknownst to us, after the date of the original stay had passed, my girlfriend received an email that asked how our stay was at the Madison Hotel. However, it was supposed to be cancelled so we should've never received that email in the first place! We talked to the hotel and they even confirmed with a cancellation number and form. We would never have cancelled if we weren't going to get our money back. The fact that we received a "how was your stay" email shows that the Madison Hotel and Marriott team never properly cancelled our stay and we were not refunded accordingly. We talked to Jennifer from the hotel team and requested a refund and even offered to receive a voucher for a future stay instead. She was no help. The thing that frustrates me most is that the Madison Hotel's mistake cost US $200 while they could've easily booked that out if they cancelled properly. I've stayed at Marriott hotels my entire life. I would like someone from the Marriott team or Madison Hotel team to reach out and make things right. Since they were no help previously, I am going to keep writing 1-star reviews with the goal of eventually bringing their 2.5 rating here to a 1.something. Please contact me if you want to save face.

Yelp
Bad hotel with horrible service. Don't recommend it at all. If you are a member of Marriott, you will not get any benefit here.

Yelp
The hotel has recently renovated and is in a great location in the city. The rooms were clean and the housekeeping team was wonderful. It's an older building and there are limited outlets for charging devices. The lobby bar closes fairly early and there are not on site food options after 10pm. The bell service staff was helpful going the extra step of having us photograph our check in tickets in case we misplace them while we were out. The front desk staff during check in was very rude, when I asked a question the young lady started speaking to me slowly about the hotel's policy on holding the funds on the entire cost of the room after the hotel was prepaid plus a hold charge for incidentals. In addition, she asked all the questions that were asked during my online checking process. When I told her I provided all the info in my online check-in she snapped back to tell me that it's not working. During our stay we purchased items from the snack pantry and we asked to pay for the snacks versus the charge to the room. The staff indicated that was not allowed. The staff that helped us during check out were very kind. With all the hotel options in DC, it's unlikely we would consider this hotel due to the authorization hold policy and rude front desk staff.
