I recently stayed at Le Metropolitan Hotel in Paris, and I have mixed feelings about my experience. The hotel is ideally located with stunning views and convenient access to many attractions. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. However, my stay was marred by some issues.
The first room I was assigned had a strong, unpleasant odor, and the bathroom ceiling was covered in mold, which was quite disappointing. I requested a room change, and although I was given a second room, it was not much better—matching the same issues of dampness and poor maintenance. Unfortunately, I only stayed for two days, so I didn't want to make a fuss, but the overall condition of the rooms was not up to the standard I expected.
Additionally, the spa area downstairs looked appealing in the pictures but was in need of significant maintenance and care, which was underwhelming.
To make matters more confusing, I had paid for my stay in full two months in advance. Yet, the hotel’s new policy required me to be charged again during my stay—while they were chasing for the payment through the booking website I used booking.com. This was quite baffling and added unnecessary stress to the experience. Fortunately, I was able to get my money back, but the entire process was quite confusing.
Overall, while the hotel's location and staff are positives, the cleanliness, upkeep, and confusing billing practices left much to be desired..
