Yelp
This is a wonderful restaurant, with such a wide variety of places to eat in Boudreaux it was difficult to pick. Michel's had a) on line reservations (we were on a cruise ship) b) most of the reviews were 4-5 stars and in French and c) they would take a party of six.
Arrived at the restaurant after a wild Uber ride and were seated outside, our first server spoke no English, but we managed with lots of pointing and barely remembered high school French to order wine (excellent wine menu if it is a bit limited, heavy on the local wines but very value priced). Someone else, I think a manager/owner, come over to explain the menu which was all in French.
She made it clear the starters were very large and for sharing, so only one couple ordered the Oeuf starter - excellent deviled eggs. Everyone else opted for an entree only. I had the duck burger, which was really a wonderful pulled duck confit packed into a burger shape and served on a brioche bun with some melted Brie a bit of fig in the bun. While at first it looked like it would be dry, it was not and it was a fantastic choice. Others at the table had the duck confit entree, two Mozzarella and tomato starters for entree (they were huge with what looked like a full pound of wonderful fresh mozzarella made in house) and one vergitarian entree which was a beautiful collection of well spiced roasted vegetables (sweet potato, eggplant, zucchini, and a pomegranate salsa) along with six falafels.
For dessert, I had a "tiramisu" but it was the French version, it had lots of whipped cream, strawberries, and 1 small lady finger down at the bottom of the mason jar - it was spectacular - didn't even miss the espresso.
The location is in the middle of the older part of the city, and easy walk from the water mural and city center. I will be back the next time I'm in Bordeaux and highly recommend this place.
