Le Midi

We stayed in Takayama for one day, and this was one of our hotel’s recommended restaurants. Located in the Old Town, we tried the hida beef A5 filet and sirloin, which came with a side of bread or rice, vegetables or fries, and a soup, which we upgraded to french onion. We finished the set meal with an English tea and sorbet. I’m not french, but the food was fantastic! The beef was super fatty and cut like butter. We also had the beef carpaccio which was one of my favorites. The staff was very friendly and had an English menu waiting on the table 😅

Had an absolutely sumptuous dinner at this French restaurant in Takamaya. My friends and I had fillet and sirloin steaks done nearly to perfection. The salad and soup didn't disappoint too. So was dessert creme brulee. The service was good too, staff were attentive. Who said no good things can come from a small town? This restaurant can rival most in Tokyo. Run by a Japanese couple.

ごちそうさまでした. Absolutely fantastic food with good proportion, but more than the great food the service of the people is top quality! I had the sirloin TOBI and it was amazing just like the vegetables. The mixed salad is also very good as an appetizer.

A fantastic Michelin recommended restaurant in Takayama. The beef stew was superb and so was the grilled sirloin steak. All Hida Wagyu. The owner is an avid fisherman and we had the fish carpaccio from his catch that day - which was superbly fresh and delicious!

Hamburg steak is delicious and comes with lots of vegetables, rice and dessert. Total 2750 JPY. Good value for money. I was dining alone and service is good.

we came here cuz we wanted to find something to eat for our toddler. Service was great, I took hamburger which wasn’t looked like it but was delicious like homemade. They have made smaller portion for a half price for our kid and even gave us ice cream as a complimentary.

A beautiful dinner with generous portions. The hida beef quality was definitely worth the price. Foreigner friendly, with the staff helpful and able to assist in English.

Hida beef tastes slightly different from Kobe beef, and for some reason it’s easier on the palate, which is a good thing. Service is great, as with most eateries in Japan.

Michelin guide restaurant, give this place a try if you are in the area! Fine dining, French + Japanese = awesomeness :) We enjoyed everything we tasted!

French food in Takayama? Yes, featuring Hida (pronounced HEE-duh) A5 Wagyu beef. We were with a large group and had a fixed menu. Salad was fresh and crisp. Main course was a thinly cut filet accompanied by potatoes, spinach and a pinch of pasta. Very tasty. Staff were attentive and pleasant. Very good.

Awesome location in Takayama. Cute little restaurant that have awesome lunch options. Can be Hida beef to various lunch sets. It's great to have choice of bread or rice with your meals.

If you look up "Le Midi" the words France may pop in, but so will the word "Pumpkin Pudding". Any place that serves up pumpkin pudding year round is a place that I would gladly give 5-stars to (that, and Halloween is my favorite time of the year). The pumpkin pudding itself did not blow my socks off, but the service did. We went to the main pudding shop, which was closed, but after we walked into the main restaurant, they were actually closed for foot traffic too, but seeing our pathetic begging faces, let us in to have some pumpkin pudding amongst the high-paying diners who were finishing up their late lunches. The waitstaff also gave us water in fancy glasses, which was really nice, seeing we were just pudding-crashers. Pumpkin Pudding, approximately $3.50 USD...totally worth it!

Really nice service. Explained each dish. The set menu with the hagi beef was exceptional. To top it off it included azuki ice cream with merengue. Nice find in Takayama.

Amazing pumpkin pudding in little glass jars at the to-go stand! Made with local pumpkins and sold across the street from the restaurant at the mini storefront in my photos. You pour on a brown sugar sauce and it all tastes delicious. Great inexpensive snack for about 300 yen.

Le Midi - right next to where I stayed in Tskayama. The steak and pudding were excellent!
