Hida beef tastes slightly different from Kobe beef, and for some reason it’s easier on the palate, which is a good thing. Service is great, as with most eateries in Japan.

I give them 5 stars because I can’t five them more. Absolutely wonderful meat, preparation and service. Totally unexpected to find this restaurant in our way to the hotel. One of the best dinners I’ve ever had.

If you’re craving an authentic French meal, look no further. This place serves fresh fish, thoughtfully presented meals with exquisite flavors. Friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Have tried A5 beef steak, A4 rose and round steak. The steak was tasty and juicy. Desserts were also good. Nice service and atmosphere.

A small two storey corner shop lot serving good Hida beef steaks and wine. Friendly and helpful staff despite they don't speak English.

I had the A5 Toby fillet (the most expensive on the menu basically). It was decent but on the whole I’m just a little underwhelmed by Hida beef - it’s good but can be a bit too fatty. This fillet tasted good but did I think it was worth almost $90, compared to other high end steaks I’ve had? Don’t think so. Otherwise the restaurant is good; good ambiance and good service.

Stumbled upon this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. I had the duck in orange sauce and my travel mate had a fish dish for lunch. Both were excellent and beautifully plated. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Tried both the A4 sirloin and the A5 fillet. I can say without a doubt the A5 fillet is the best steak I ever had. I got mine medium rare and it was delighted wtg every bite. The steak is so tender that you don't even need a knife - just pick it up with your chopsticks and use your teeth.

Yelp
French food in Takayama? Yes, featuring Hida (pronounced HEE-duh) A5 Wagyu beef. We were with a large group and had a fixed menu. Salad was fresh and crisp. Main course was a thinly cut filet accompanied by potatoes, spinach and a pinch of pasta. Very tasty. Staff were attentive and pleasant. Very good.

Yelp
Awesome location in Takayama. Cute little restaurant that have awesome lunch options. Can be Hida beef to various lunch sets. It's great to have choice of bread or rice with your meals.

Yelp
If you look up "Le Midi" the words France may pop in, but so will the word "Pumpkin Pudding". Any place that serves up pumpkin pudding year round is a place that I would gladly give 5-stars to (that, and Halloween is my favorite time of the year). The pumpkin pudding itself did not blow my socks off, but the service did. We went to the main pudding shop, which was closed, but after we walked into the main restaurant, they were actually closed for foot traffic too, but seeing our pathetic begging faces, let us in to have some pumpkin pudding amongst the high-paying diners who were finishing up their late lunches. The waitstaff also gave us water in fancy glasses, which was really nice, seeing we were just pudding-crashers. Pumpkin Pudding, approximately $3.50 USD...totally worth it!

Yelp
Really nice service. Explained each dish. The set menu with the hagi beef was exceptional. To top it off it included azuki ice cream with merengue. Nice find in Takayama.

Yelp
Amazing pumpkin pudding in little glass jars at the to-go stand! Made with local pumpkins and sold across the street from the restaurant at the mini storefront in my photos. You pour on a brown sugar sauce and it all tastes delicious. Great inexpensive snack for about 300 yen.

Yelp
Le Midi - right next to where I stayed in Tskayama. The steak and pudding were excellent!
