Well marked out but very steep hike. Bring a lot of water, suncream, some snacks, a hat/cap. You'll turn off the main road to a dirt road, drive 1 km and find a parking area. Nothing formal. Then there is a gate. When you walk through you'll find a book on the right side where you need to sign in and out (this is the only way for them to track people hiking safely). Our total hike was close to 8kms. We went to see the look out point that veers off to the right before you reach the steep climbing point which is why it maybe took us longer. The climbing is intense, and as you get to the top it plays on your mind a bit because you go down and then back up before reaching the top. Wear shoes with good grip and take things slowly and carefully! There used to be ropes but these no longer exist. You'll be rewarded with magnificent views as you go up and at the summit, along with lots of cute little birds! The summit is a relatively small area with a cross on the top.

An unforgettable lifetime experience. A great, breathtaking view from the top, it was worth a hike. My suggestion for the hike: 1. start as early as possible. We started at 6 o’clock in the morning and at 7 o’clock it was almost unbearable hot. It’s a lot of climbing and the stone would get also hotter in the sun. 2. Bring a lot of water with you, at least 1 L/person. 3. I would suggest to hire a guide if you don’t have an experience in climbing. We did often a hike in the alps but I was so afraid that I wouldn’t survive this hike. We were lucky that we accidentally mixed up with the guided group and we could follow them, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to get to the top.

Absolutely beautiful 😍 All in all the hike was moderate and the “climbing” part at the end (approximately the last 1k) was ok and not hard, but you have to be careful and concentrated (which should be default mode on any hike anyways). Side note: there was a guy who told us that his family owns the land around the mountain and that it’s not allowed to hike up the mountain before 7am due to “safety reasons”. My suggestion for them is to open the trail before 7am because it’s incredibly hot on the trail (very exposed to the sun) and the earlier you hike up the better. Also there is a huge amount of plastic waste on the trail which is really sad to see.

Le Morne Brabant is an unforgettable hiking experience. The trail up to the top is quite challenging but absolutely rewarding. The scenery is just stunning, with lush greenery and that gorgeous blue ocean stretching out below. As you get closer to the summit, the trail becomes steeper and more rugged, requiring a bit of climbing and focus. Reaching the cross  at the top feels like a true achievement, offering a stunning 360-degree view of Mauritius coastline and surrounding landscape. If you're up for an adventure in Mauritius, this hike is a must.

One of the most beautiful places in Mauritius 🤩 A sacred mountain, measuring 555 meters, from which there is a wonderful view of the south west coast, a fabulous white beach and one of the best places for kitesurfing in the world A two-hour difficult walk to the top will reward you for the hardships of the climb. This is a sacred mountain from which slaves threw themselves into the abyss, not believing in their freedom, who preferred to commit suicide rather than remain slaves on sugar cane plantations... As for me, this is one of the Top 3 places in Mauritius

Had an amazing time on this hike! The first part is fairly easy, but the second half requires some serious rock climbing. It takes about 3-4 hours to reach the summit where the cross stands.. The breathtaking views at the top make the effort totally worth it 👌🏻

Loved this hike! The first half of the hike is easy but the second half involves steep rock climbing using hands and feet, not for the weak. Takes around 2 hours to get to the very top where the cross is. Getting down is faster but still a must to take your time. The views are stunning and well worth the climb.

It takes around 3 hours, not because of the distance, but because of difficulty. We are used to hard hikes but this one involves some climbing. The views are breathtaking and it is super super worth it! We didn’t have proper walking shoes, so with normal trainers is a bit more challenging, but can obviously be done. Don’t need a guide unless you’re not a very confident hiker. And don’t forget a lot of water ! It is hot even early in the morning
