This is really an awesome place to stay right in the heart of Genoa’s old town. You check in at the main hotel on the small piazza and walk across the square to a secure doorway. Take an elevator to the hotel floor and the room key gives you access to that floor. The junior suite is two levels with a small living space up a flight of stairs. The main room is comfortable, spotless with lots of room. Down the hall is a lounge that has an ice and water machine, coffee and tea and cookies in the afternoon. The view is of an inner courtyard, great to watch when it rains. It is a very short walk to the main square and pedestrian streets. I was sad to leave this awesome room!

Le Nuvole - set in a square - is a reasonably quiet oasis that is slightly apart from the hubbub of the city but centrally located, and within a 10-minute walk of all the main sights (provided you don't get lost in the famous alleys). ||Some of the key take-aways:||- The staff are generally friendly and accommodating.|- The rooms are reasonably spacious. We opted for a suite that has a lofted seating area, which is probably neither needed nor justified. Unless you have more than two people in your party, a standard room should be more than sufficient.|- The rooms are clean and nicely appointed. I am not sure I would deem anything particularly luxurious, but everything was of a good standard for the price point.|- If you opt for breakfast, you have access to a decent selection of standard continental and hot buffet breakfast food. Again, nothing is exceptional, but it is certainly good enough.|- There are a few sparsely decorated common areas for (instant) coffee and water on the same floor as the hotel rooms. This is a nice feature to have in theory, but I found these areas slightly depressing. If nothing else, they serve as a useful spot to regroup quickly before or after an excursion if you are there with other couples.||Overall, Le Nuvole is a good option - clean and central, it serves as a good base for exploring Genoa.

Very special hotel divided over two renovated old buildings. Many small steps no straight hallways. Very friendly personal at the reception and other places. Good breakfast. Building is not regable by car, you have to make a small walk. The taxi driver helped and guided us

Great location and nice hotel, though the hot water was intermittent and the towel warmer did not work. Elevator was slow, but very old.

Initially intimidated by the narrow and confusing alleyways behind Genoa's harbor, I found my way there. A very friendly young woman welcomed me and explained the layout. My room had a loft. It was quiet and well laid out. Excellent if smallish bathroom. Delightful breakfast room in a partner building with an outdoor patio. There is also an expansive living room with gigantic shelves full of wonderful books covering the spectrum of Italian art and design. || Had a sublime moment while staying there after taking a harbor tour with a threatening sky looming over. A patter of light rain began just as the boat returned. Luckily, whilst waiting for the vessel to leave, I did two "rehearsal walks" back to the Hotel. As soon as we were invited to step off, I made haste, effortlessly navigating. I badged into the front door, and chose the ancient, worn-smooth steps leading up to the rooms. It was just me on this quiet staircase. At each landing, a thrown-open casement window with a view of rain and the cobblestone floored piazza below. ||Hint for anyone confused by the alleyways - for me the best way to get to the Hotel was to start opposite the big "sail canvas" structure by the harbor. Walk with the large white muraled building to your RIGHT. Make a left onto Via S. Luca, proceed about a block, right turn onto Vito Del Santo Sepulcro, proceed about two blocks to Piazza Dell Vigne - that's where the Hotel is.||

There's so much to love about this hotel. It takes up one floor of a historic building right in the centre of the old town. The reception and rooftop breakfast room are in the neighbouring Grillo Palace Hotel which is a restored Renaissance mansion. There are breathtaking frescoes and stucco decorations alongside modern furniture and art work which create something really special. The breakfast buffet is outstanding with hot food (scrambled eggs, bacon etc) catering to a British/American clientele as well as the fresh fruit and wonderful cakes and pastries you would expect in an Italian hotel. As other have mentioned the cafe area with complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits is a real bonus. Staff are all excellent arranging a private transfer from the airport for us even though there was a taxi strike when we arrived. Will definitely return.

Our family stayed here for the second time last weekend and we confirm that this is an amazing place to stay right in the historical center of Genoa. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, with amazing views and design. You can easily walk anywhere you want to visit. ||||The best part is the hospitality that is welcoming and went above and beyond our expectations. I fell on the street while touring about and twisted my ankle and they helped me in every way. We will look forward to a return visit!
